Personally I wish they would spend this money on useful things like Hospitals. We already lock to many people up for the crimes that don't require a prison incarceration.
Only violent offenders should be in prison all other offences should be dealt with within the community with home detention and restrictions. Prison should only be for the protection of the community not to punish offenders because prisons don't rehabilitate they are just training criminals. With technology atm a single correction officer could monitor hundreds of persons using gps monitors and the such.
Well there's plenty of money to be had out of the tax pot for prison companies and their share holders(plenty of politicians). The public lap it up because they think it makes them safer. The money could be spent in much better ways but that would require decent people in charge but unfortunately they're mostly cunts.
All highway road markings and signs have to have the backing of law to be legally enforceable so somewhere at the local council buildings is a legal department (usually staffed very boring people) that looks after all the paperwork for the signs. Even the Council can't just put signs up willy-nilly and expect them to have any legal standing, the rules have to be approved and adopted. Hmmmmm were they observing Covid rules while building?? Interesting timing. Rather like in my village during the first lockdown and BT vans were everywhere with the men all working closely together. No Covid rules seemed to apply to them. Funny that.
Notice how extensive the workshop complex is. The G4S business model is based on franchising out just about every aspect of the prison. The workshops, kitchens, healthcare, education are all run by different companies and awarded by competitive tendering. The G4S prisoner regime is much less restrictive than at state prisons which still have many " Spanish practices " and a much higher number of officers. I worked at a brand new G4S prison for 5 years from opening. We had 2 officers per 95 prisoners. However the regime was so good prisoners seldom kicked off for fear of being transferred to the near by state prison. Sadly all of the experienced and quality original staff have left because the pay is dire and workload excessive. The result is the prison is full of drugs and assaults on staff occur daily.
What a bleak future. The prisons have ac, basketball courts, the lot. A lot to be said about care homes and council estates and where our tax money should be going.
Norway has arguably the most luxurious prison, I mean they can go horseback riding, fishing etc, but they also have one of the lowest re-offending rates going. They get seen as rehabilitation facilities, not the traditional retribution, went from 60-70% to 20% in recent years.
@@billyjoel6352 they may have as much crime as any other decaying European city, but the claim wasn't that it reduced crime, it was that it reduced reoffending rates. The fact they still have criminals is not really a suprise is it, there is always going to be crime. But whenever you hear of cases when a person has, for example, 136 convictions, surely you have to think something isn't working. So why not try something new. Which is exactly what Norway did with criminal justice, changing it to prisoner rehabilitation, and Portugal, who changed their drug laws from criminal justice to public health. Both of which have been a massive success in hitting their aims.
I counted working clockwise round the route that your drone took: a segregation unit, 7 main accomodation blocks, workshops, gym, stores & works, admin, education, healthcare. All the usual buildings that every prison has. All on a fairly flat and compact layout.

The hydrant sign doesn't show pressure it shows diameter of the water main. Older ones measure in imperial and newer metric. Like you said the bottom number is distance in a straight line from the plate. This is really important info for fire service as when it snows you can still locate the hydrant. You get lots of hydrants on all types of property. I used to be responsible for requesting hydrant location on new builds.
For a parking restriction to be enforced by the police, a parking attendant or a traffic warden there needs to be a Traffic Regulation Order in place. No TRO, no enforcement. A double yellow line doesn't need a sign - doubles are enforceable 24h a day, therefore no sign required to indicate enforcement times. A single yellow line requires a sign to indicate the hours of enforcement, eg 0800 - 1800. The point about the end of the lines having to be capped off, used to be true - not any more because a case at the Parking Ombudsman a few years settled that when it was decided that it was reasonable to imply that the underlying restriction applied regardless of whether the end was capped or not.
My educated guess would be that it’s up to the government to ensure that the Geo fence is in place before they place a single prisoner inside the facility. There may be an application for a Geo fence in the system, but an application for a Geo fence is not a Geo fence. and until such time as that application is approved you would be free to fly over it.
