For me, it was the redemption. I used to love whisky when I was 18-22 or so, but then suddenly I got a really bad adverse reaction to even sniffing a spirit, much less tasting one. A few years later I went to a whisky tasting to help out a friend (rounding up the numbers) and Glenmorangie was one of the only ones that I could even tolerate, and I actually liked it. Skip forward 10+ years and I decide "I'm going to buy myself a bottle of whisky on my birthday", and the only Glenmorangie in town is the Tusàil (my country has a state run alcohol monopoly for anything above 5.5%, so shops don't have to actually compete with their offerings). I buy a bottle, and absolutely love it. Glenmorangie was both my lighthouse in the dark days of "spirits make me sick" and the redemption now that I can drink again. FWIW, current favorite whiskys: Glenmorangie Tusàil, Nikka from the Barrel.
i'm here because i had a glass glenmorangie signet today at a bar. it's about $250 a bottle here (Australia). I think I needed to start on something cheaper as it was incredible and I feel I might be about to go broke.
I hold the Quinta Ruban and the LaSanta in the highest regards. Especially the Quinta Ruban. These were the two that solidified my passion for single malt whisky. I got the two small bottles in a gift box with the full size Glenmorangie, and the rest is history. So glad that you guys made this video for me to look back on. Hope I can find the Nectar D'or on my future hunts. Cheers, gentlemen.
I've been watching for two months now and I want to thank you both for saving me and a co-worker on many an afternoon at work. The frustrations of working with the public lead many people to drink. we found something that takes the edge off at work and helps you find something to take the edge off with friends after. Hell... we have even had qualms about going forward with a business venture because we both were more excited and interested in doing something with whiskey! Cheers to you two for breaking down the snobbery barrier!! Made this last drink keep your heart warm...until till the next we meet.
I love the Glenmorangie products and have worked my way through the range. While I like all of them, it's amazing how I keep coming back to the original standard bottling. It's one of those great 'bang for the buck, whiskies that's just right - good for the whisky newbie, and good for the experienced drinker, too. Cheers, guys.
One of the first whiskey vault videos I ever watched, I was so confused, continued watching others, I subsequently subbed, and now catching up and loving every second.
Glenmorangie 15 was my go to drink for years, I was then so ill on it I gave up whisky for 20yrs, just getting back in to it again and loving your channel, lot of great stuff to help with my choises.
So I have stumbled across this channel and instantly subscribed. Tonight a friend of mine and I decided that we would have a random Tuesday night scotch tasting. He bought the Quinta Ruban I bought the 10 year but never tried the Quinta. I love the 10 year. And long story short we ended up trading bottles. The Quinta is absolutely delish. Just to add. We tried both and then I lite a Cigar and the Quinta just shined and was a perfect hand in hand match. All in all 10 year is great all around. Quinta is a great mix into the mini vault I've started.
I know that I’m way too late but it feels like you guys will appreciate this. So I’m from Sweden and I have it on good authority that Glenmorangie 10 is the favorite whisky of the king of Sweden!
@vibortravas2932 Steffo Törnquist, a rather prominent journalist, author, producer and public person known for being a connoisseur wrote it in the book Steffos spritbibel (2012). Oh, and he also sits on the board of directors for the Wine and liquor museum in Stockholm.
I've always been a HUGE fan of Glenmorangie. The 10 is my go-to Scotch, but the Port finish (that's what they USED to call it) has a special place in my heart.
Because of your collaboration with The Modern Rogue, I actually stopped by my local liquor store today and picked up a bottle of Glenmorangie 10. Your collaboration made me want to get more into whisk(e)y, specifically into scotch as I have Scottish heritage in my family. Google told me that it was a great scotch for beginners, so I bought it. I think it is absolutely delicious and I definitely plan to continue on my whisk(e)y journey using your channel as my guide.
LaSanta 12 is my choice for March 2020. I'm loving the fruit note of Sherry finished whiskeys, and there's a warm tobacco afternote that lingers in the glass.
I'm a big fan of the Glenmorangie linup. I've tried them all except the D'or, and I definitely agree on the 10 being the most classic "scotch" and probably the easiest to drink. But I certainly prefer the quinta ruban for its more dessert quality. It just has a lot of flavors that I enjoy. In fact I just had a glass while watching this! Cheers!
Just bought this sampler at Target for $25! My first single malt actually. Making my way through the 10 first and really like it. I’m usually a Chivas Regal 12 guy or Elijah Craig bourbon.
I think the robe should just be standard attire. A wizardly wizard should be at his most wizdrouse as often as is wizadly possible. A mooch, on the other hand, tends to only don a hat of generosity in order to disguise his moochosity. While it goes against his baser instinct, Mooch's are often intelligent enough to recognise that feigning appreciation will augment their future mooching.
We see your true colours ;) Jokes aside. Another AWESOME vid. I may have to pick this little kit up. Love the idea of being able to focus on different ageing techniques and the impact on final flavour!
found the best pairing for Glenmorangie 10! KFC original recipe! Not joking.. had it the first time and i was like, hmmm this 10 taste great suddenly, but don't believe it.. bought more KFC the next day and test it again, oh la la.. love it!
Funny one of the head guys of Glenmorangie just opened a distillery called the Boatyard about 5 mins away from my house in Fermanagh, N. Ireland. They have installed a 40ft column still. At the moment they are producing a Gin which is getting fantastic reviews. They are now going to start producing a seasonal potato vodka and there's a whisk(e)y on the way. Could be one to look out for in a few years. Seems to be a no compromise endeavour.
Hey guys! A few weeks ago I had made a comment that ever since my 19th birthday (I'm Canadian) I have started drinking Whisky with my first bottle being Glenfiddich 12. I mentioned how while I was salmon fishing in Cape Breton I wanted to visit the Glenora Distillery and try some Glen Breton as you guys along with A fews others said it was a treat! Long story short, I had the opportunity to tour the distillery and and try Glen Breton 10. It was an extraordinary single malt! I loved how easy it was for a beginner like me to drink and experience all of the subtle nuances and flavours. I would love to see you guys do an episode on Glen Breton 10 as it is an awesome whisky that really deserves more attention! If you would like a song to go with it try Stan Rogers' cover of Scarborough Settler's Lament. It's a great folk tune with lots Scottish/Canadian history!
Not sure how I missed this episode!! The 10 yr. old is my fav Scotch. Glad I found it. It fits my background as a MacGregor also!!! Same area in Scotland.
I grew up in Balti ( Balintore ) great wee village in terms of scenery it’s just a shame it’s mostly dark gray skies and rain but on a good summers day it’s beautiful, I still recall the smell from the farms which I don’t miss😂
Cant help but stare at the bag behind you guys and ready to yell if the snake comes out as if you would of been able to hear me! Love this Glenmorangie 12 also.
I’m not sure if it has been mentioned in past comments or known since this video, but to my understanding, Glenmorangie does not own Ardbeg, but both Glenmorangie and Ardbeg are owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton
Hate to be that guy to the guy that hates to be that guy but it's Glen-Moranjee not 'More'. Think as if you were saying orangey at the end. No emphasis on any syllable.
Ish. I bought blanton's because one of the guys at my local store suggested it to me. Not that it was terrible but when I saw him about a month later I told him he steered me off a cliff. I saw the sampler pack which they are 100ml bottles and thought well hey thats cool and the guy I guess felt bad for leading me wrong and paid for em. So since they were mooched from the store I figured that I had to send them to Daniel and the Grand Moochba.
Hey, Andrew Harrison! GREAT toast and outro. Love your setup...Chaplin, Bogart and home bottled (rye?)... Outros, toasts, drinking vid links, etc....this channel has depth! I love how the outro tribe members show us a tiny portion of their vault. You can feel the secrecy and reverence. My vids and toasts are coming, honest. My second son is doing the audio and the videos are being done by half a dozen other offspring. I wanted a simple toast and way to say thanks to all of you, but you're getting a "production" instead. Great vid again, guys. Rex's junior high antics don't detract and Daniel's attempt at being pretentious don't discourage. Keep it up.

i've only tried the new quinta rubin 14 (which replaced the 12) and.... i have a love hate relationship with it. sometimes i love it, sometimes i hate it. but again, i'm more of peathead . getting my peat monster coming in tomorrow cant wait to try it
Loved this video. I’ve been thinking about adding a scotch that is barrel finished in a different cask. I’m gonna grab the sampler this weekend and try it out. I may also pick up the cognac finished scotch they have.
Wait! What about the rattlesnake? I looked at that white bag thing on the floor every shot it was in convinced something was going to slither out of it.
Hey everyone, my dad has a bottle of Glenmorangie Côte D’Or Burgundy Cask Finish scotch. I don’t know much about it. All i know is that it is that the Côte D’Or bottling was discontinued a number of years ago. If anyone has any information on the specific bottling, i would love to know more.
Music Teacher wife commenting after hearing ya'll singing. All was fine for the first two lines, but then Daniel went on into "Three Blind Mice" instead of "Hot Cross Buns" - They begin the same but don't end the same way. I would contribute to the vault if Rex were to actually play either of these tunes on recorder!!
Great video guys, I'm from Tain and I love the story about the farmer from Balintore. I'll need to try and found who it was you met (Can't be too many that speak like groundskeeper Willie :-D JK). 100% agree with your reviews of the range. Was the Lasanta the 46% or 43% ABV? they've changed it to 43% and it's better tasting in my opinion. Love your Channel, Slainte!
How does the Nectar d'or compare to the discontinued Glenmorangie Cote d'or Burgundy Wood Cask and are they related or just coincidence in the naming? I haven't tried them side by side yet, but will this weekend.
10 is the only one I'd really pick to drink. It has a shortbread quality. I found the other expressions to be frail or somehow unsatisfying. I have come back to them over and over to taste again after buying a dozen more scotches and my opinion still remains the same. I find it much better to just buy a Dalmore, Highland Park, or even Glenlivet over Glenmorangie.
Howzit Gents, I've really been enjoying your videos. I was wondering if you could do a Three Ships review, hoping to get some South African representation to the vault. Keep up the good work!
I had plans to buy single malt from duty free, this is the first time I'm buying single malt, so at my budget I can take glenmorangie 10yo, glenlivet triple cask reserved distillers reserve and glenlivet founders reserve, I wanted your decision out of these three
Visited Austin last year, loved it. Thinking on moving there from LA. I know Austin people hate Dallas and LA people. What’s a good area with nice apartments around town? I wouldn’t want to live in the middle of the city as I do now. Tired of traffic and idiots.
I think, for the money, you'll have a hard time beating southwest. Tons of apartment complexes that are nice without being too expensive. checkout the 78749 zip code. Only about 10 minutes from downtown on MoPac
Glenmorangie 10 was my gateway drug into the world of whisky. First one was free, of course.
the trick is to make them all free...
Rex the master has spoken

Bought a bottle of the Lasanta 12 today. Like it. A Lot.
Jason Fisk Lasanta is a great budget sherry bomb
Had the LaSanta last week and loved it! Beautiful richness!
Glenmorangie used to make an awesome Madeira finished scotch but they discontinued it because I liked it.
One of the first whiskey vault videos I ever watched, I was so confused, continued watching others, I subsequently subbed, and now catching up and loving every second.

Have you tried the balvenie double wood? It's amazing.
@@consimjim8271 , locally the price point is beyond my budget. Recent favorites have been Red Bush, Dalmore, and Aberfeldy.
I've only tried the 10 and I love it. such a treat.

I have this set too and I’ve been waiting to crack it open. Looks like I will have a whisky filled evening tonight.

Glen 10 has been my go-to for years. Everytime I want a great Scotch at a great price. Nothing beats.

This is awesome! I love their Single Malt. We'll do it on camera. And if I do a Stan Rogers song, it will have to be Barret's Privateers
Damn, I could drink whiskey and listen to Daniel and his stories all day.
Not sure how I missed this episode!! The 10 yr. old is my fav Scotch. Glad I found it. It fits my background as a MacGregor also!!! Same area in Scotland.
Glenmorangie is one of my favorite Whisky brands... I love the range of this distillery
Of that set, the Nectar D'or is my fave. Love the orange zest note.
I grew up in Balti ( Balintore ) great wee village in terms of scenery it’s just a shame it’s mostly dark gray skies and rain but on a good summers day it’s beautiful, I still recall the smell from the farms which I don’t miss😂

I’m not sure if it has been mentioned in past comments or known since this video, but to my understanding, Glenmorangie does not own Ardbeg, but both Glenmorangie and Ardbeg are owned by LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton
That was the best story and Daniel's Scottish accent was perfect.
I hate to be that guy...but it's not Glen-more-ANJ'-ee... it's Glen- MORE'-anj-ee. Think orange. OK, lesson over. I love Glenmorangie!
Oops. Wrong video. Yeah, I got hassled by two friends of mine who rep Glenmorangie for not nailing this one. :-)
Seriously. level 3 whisky sommelier...sure.
Hate to be that guy to the guy that hates to be that guy but it's Glen-Moranjee not 'More'. Think as if you were saying orangey at the end. No emphasis on any syllable.
@@BillyRubin81 yup, this is the way
That story really warmed my heart. God bless the farmers.
Original is the best..I'd first tried it after watching the Highlander movie..you can get a bottle here in New Zealand ,between $50+-$100+.
I love the Nector but I've gone through at least 5 bottles of the 10.
Glad to see y'all actually got my mooched bottles.
trinityzaku wait, so are you saying this was a mooch of a mooch?
Perfection
They were awesome
I'm having a glenmorangie 10 just now and watching this video. Oh finally I found one amazing whiskey to enjoy !!
Pew Heretic, that sounds amazing! Can't wait to see it.
Another vote for the Nectar Dor. We love it with oranges and cigars for our dessert!!!
I just found out today about Carolus Belgian whisky. Any thoughts on it?
Never heard of it!
They're a Belgian beer company (they make an ok tripel), and seemingly got curious about what would happen if they distilled their game...

Carolus
Okay then, a 45 minute video of me drinking whisky has been shot... been having issues getting it uploaded, but I will try again tomorrow.
Hey guys!! Love the episodes!! The ones with Glenmorangie and the Dalmore are my favs because as a newb, my co-worker turned me on to Glenmorangie 10 & Quinta Reuben. And with just the presentation of the Dalmore? Fahgetahboutit!! With Utah not having much in the way of variety I'm limited but I'm glad they have those two. Oh and Oban!! Can't forget Oban 14! I'm learning to be much more discerning in my tastes (although it still took me almost a year to polish off a Laphroaig 10.... love the earthy, peety nose but damn! can't get over the rubber tire taste...working on it though)
Anyways great stuff! I may end up seeing if I can get you guys some local stuff (it ain't single malt but it's whiskey!)
So many similarities between really nice whiskey and really high-quality glass, meant to be used and enjoyed with friends, really love to sit down smoke and have a couple of drinks with you guys!
My favourite whisky is Glenmorangie 10! It was my first ever alcoholic drink.
I've been a small jaunt compared to most whiskey journey but I still prefer, for the most enjoyable experience, is Glenmorangie 10
I’m so glad you said flowers!! I thought I was going mad as when you look it up it didn’t mention flowers. It says fruit .
Just grabbed some 10 for this quarantine Saturday! My first Glenmorangie!
Actually bought this exact tasting kit. Great intro to scotch whisky. Think y’all did well covering all bases.
Glenmorangie 10 is my go to ..Its why my name is conor maccloud. I try not to spend too much on whiskey so i stick TO Glenmorangie 10 and Bulleit bourbon if im in the mood for that .
I just got this EXACT sampler on the advice of an old patient of mine. This video couldn’t I have been more spot-on and perfect!!!! New subscriber here and must admit that I, addicted to this channel!!!! 👍👊🥃🥃
Yay! It a Monday! Best way to start the week.
Liked for the great story from Dan and the review on my favorite Scotch.
Of course the Bacalta isn't in there! lol Still looking forward to that review. Another great and funny video, thanks whisk[e]y scoundrels!
I am sure that couple is still talking about meeting you as well, great story.
i've only tried the new quinta rubin 14 (which replaced the 12) and.... i have a love hate relationship with it. sometimes i love it, sometimes i hate it. but again, i'm more of peathead . getting my peat monster coming in tomorrow cant wait to try it
Loved this video. I’ve been thinking about adding a scotch that is barrel finished in a different cask. I’m gonna grab the sampler this weekend and try it out. I may also pick up the cognac finished scotch they have.
Another great video... thanks for the info, i am going to seek out the nectar, sounds like my type of deal
Old video now, but just listened to Daniel’s story so much I am saving it for my wife to see.
Could you review the Signet version? The story behind it is fascinating too.
Will join in on that video compilation.
There is nothing like Glenmorangie 10. A great Scotch that sets the standard for highlands Scotch.
This is the first time I’ve been able to have all the same tasting as the guys and I must say Daniels on point with his notes.
drinking my first Glenmorangie (the original ) as I'm watching this, and i'm loving it.
I really enjoyed the story.
Wait! What about the rattlesnake? I looked at that white bag thing on the floor every shot it was in convinced something was going to slither out of it.
You'll get a closer view of it a few random times this week.
Whiskey Vault That's a terribly cruel thing to keep us in suspense like that.
I read the start of this comment and thought it was going in a WHOLE other direction hahaha. Well played sir ;)
I was hoping for a rattlesnake joke. Anyway here is one - how do you measure a snake ?
..... in inches because they don't have feet
I really enjoy this channel.
I'll have to pick up a bottle of the 10 and then compare it to something like an Oban 14.
Would like to see your take on the Quinta Ruban 12-yr vs 14-yr and the Nectar D'or 12-yr vs NAS.
Really loved the Glenmorangie story!
Daniel Which whiskeys would you highly recommend with cigar pairings.
All of the whisky :-)
Depends on the cigar
Hey everyone, my dad has a bottle of Glenmorangie Côte D’Or Burgundy Cask Finish scotch. I don’t know much about it. All i know is that it is that the Côte D’Or bottling was discontinued a number of years ago. If anyone has any information on the specific bottling, i would love to know more.
Music Teacher wife commenting after hearing ya'll singing. All was fine for the first two lines, but then Daniel went on into "Three Blind Mice" instead of "Hot Cross Buns" - They begin the same but don't end the same way. Sweet story about the farmer. any plans to review the new Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban 14?
still hoping for a response :D Do you prefer Glenmorangie Quinta Ruban or Bowmore 12? Thanks for you thoughts!
Im pretty sure daniel prefers the bowmore 12 if you go watch the bowmore video rex im not so sure
I'd have to find the old ones to compare.
Good deal, I was lucky enough to discover a bottle hiding in the back of my cabinet and hadn't tried it in long time so was wondering.
just curious. I live in st louis. was that Whiskey in Winter conference?
Great story....just purchased the sampler
10 is the only one I'd really pick to drink. It has a shortbread quality. I found the other expressions to be frail or somehow unsatisfying. I have come back to them over and over to taste again after buying a dozen more scotches and my opinion still remains the same. I find it much better to just buy a Dalmore, Highland Park, or even Glenlivet over Glenmorangie.
Just missing the Signet, any chance you'll get to review that?
Howzit Gents, I've really been enjoying your videos. I was wondering if you could do a Three Ships review, hoping to get some South African representation to the vault. Keep up the good work!
I'll try to get some!
I had plans to buy single malt from duty free, this is the first time I'm buying single malt, so at my budget I can take glenmorangie 10yo, glenlivet triple cask reserved distillers reserve and glenlivet founders reserve, I wanted your decision out of these three
The Glenmorangie 10 Year is for the price the best scotch on the market. By a long shot.
Nectar of Gold! My absolutle favorite!
You guys haven't reviewed Signet. Would like to get your take.
I had the same box, tasted them all and in the end I ended up buying a bottle of Lasanta.
Love Glenmorangie, but can't find the cream cheese frosting smell or the cinnamon 🤔
I would very much like to hear your opinion on the Spìos
I'd love to try these, it sounds like my kind of stuff. also i must know more about the rattle snake.
Whiskey Vault wow, I didn’t think you’d answer. Ok then, I’ll get you guys a bottle when I move. Thanks!
The Quinta Ruban 14 is so very, very good. More very’s would be fully justified.
Such a great story about the farmer! 🥰
hey guys can i get those little bottle so i can try them as well?
Just picked up a gift box of a bottle of 10, a mini bottle of Lasanta and a Glenmorangie glass for $52 👍 Merry Christmas to me! Hahaha
What happened to the wizardly Robes of Wizardly things and hat of generosity?
What's a good background music while drinking scatch. Quinta Ruban is my favorite...
can you send the link to the video where you're sitting and drinking for 45 minutes. i can't find it. thanks!
It Is pronounced by the folks in Scotland, Glen MORE an jee
