I wish I started The Wheel of Time a long time ago, as I've been missing out! At least I have a lot of binge reading material. Let me know if you've read the books and what you thought of them! Also what do you think of the TV show announcement?? If you'd like to enter the giveaway for The Wheel of Time bookmark I showed in this video, all you have to do is comment (this can be anything, as long as at some point you mention you'd like to enter the giveaway/would like to win the bookmark). I'll be drawing 3 winners using a RUclips comment picker on October 27th.

Have you read any book by Joe Abercrombie? He happens to be my favourite fantasy author and I was curious to what you might think of him.
By the way i'm writing all the books you recommend on my future readings list.

It is probably a good thing. Waiting for book 7 to be released seemed to take so long, with so much going on, that I had to re-read them all prior to release. And then again with book 8. And then again with book 9. Then again with book 10.... I've re-read the first half of this series quite a few times, and the waits could be excruciating.

    • @CapturedInWords
      @CapturedInWords  6 лет назад +4

Just recently I was at a bookstore and had some free time so I started reading a few chapters of The Blade Itself by Abercrombie, I'll definitely continue reading the series after I get some other books read first!

FINALLY ! Wheel of Time getting the love it deserves. Eye of the World does a wonderful job building the world, it may seem a bit classic at first but the evolution of the characters throughout the series is one of the best things ever.

Not gonna lie, I've watched sooooooooooo much book reviews on booktube and this is one of the best ones ever. You using images and stuff, as well as how you speak about the plot synopsis in the beginning of the video was amazing. If you're not going into marketing or like being a publicist, that would be a heartbreak. Now I'm even more pumped to read the book. One day. I got so much to read, write, and play.

Thank you! That's one of my goals in making reviews, as I notice a lot of reviewers don't describe what a book is about that well, which doesn't let the viewer see if it's something they'd be interested in. So for all my reviews I'll try to have a good story hook :) I'm happy it's been working! Have fun reading the series if you do decide to! ^_^

An amazing Book series, Jordan captured me in my early 20's and I have adored this saga ever since.
I can't recommend this book series enough. There are so many different themes that run throughout and it's one of the few series that actually answers many of the questions it raises throughout by the last book. I've lent my set to every other fantasy reader in my close circle.
If you are looking to extend your social life, this might not be the book set for you however, I became so caught up in it that I pretty much devoted every spare hour to reading them xx

Um I didnt like beginning. It was slow. Skipped ahead to four kings and went back to review. It picks up from there. Wheel of time is a much more down to earth gypsy like world, compared to tolkiens, lofty and trascendental romantic style. I like wheel of time. Its heavily reminscent of 1980s and the mania for star wars, dune and other stuff like that for me. But I love its style. It reminds me of chinese stuff too. I always picture matt and the feather in his hat, when I picture this book. Its the feather-in broad brimmed hat style fantasy. Even a touch of sci fi. I know Jordan liked sci fi, with the present world being the past. He wore a similar broad brimmed hat hismelf. I glad someone wrote a book to capture this mood in fantasy. Thats why I liked wheel of time. There was also a lot of cultural folksy goodness and gypsy carts and wagons. The dark friends are CREEPY! Great stuff. Basically this was like LOTR 2, but, it was way different in mood. Rand, matt and perrin and all others are such great characters. Read the appendix. Dont writ eit off. I didn like the start, I skipped all way ahead to play for your supper chapter. Njoy.

I'm about halfway through the book and it's good, but I don't have the what's-next feeling that makes me want to pick up the book again and read more. I'm basically just getting through it. I don't plan to continue the series unless the second half of The Eye of the World changes my mind.

Still haven't finished wheel of time. I've read up to Knife of Dreams, and I've probably read through the first six or so about three times, and I've read the Eye of the Word several times. I love the books, but every time I try to get through the series it just gets to a point where it feels like an endless task. I'd have a break between books, but I'm kind of all-or-nothing when it comes to series, and I hate jumping back in the middle - for a series as complex as WoT, reading the wiki summary just isn't enough to reconnect you to the characters and plot after a long break.
But I'm looking at my old copy of EotW on the shelf, and its beckoning to me. Perhaps this time I can manage it...

How long does it usually take you to read a massive fantasy book ?? It took me more than six months to read, well actually listen to the audiobooks of seven Wheel of Time books, so roughly a book each month, then I got lost and started other projects, and now your review makes me want to reread the whole thing

I got distracted, did you mention to'raken? I haven't heard anyone mention them yet, but say the word fast and it sounds like "dragon", and they fit the description.

I ordered the book a couple days ago. I just read Mistborn in 2018. Someone mention that this was a really good book. At first I thought Sanders wrote it. I hope it's good as you say it is. I have so many TBR books this year.

My reading project for next year is to finish Wheel of time. I read the first 6 books like 5 years ago but I got in a reading slump and never finished the series. But I think about the books all the time so I really need to get my act together and start again from the beginning!

So glad you like it! It's an amazing series and i am currently at book 5 on my second read, huzzah! It does get slow at times and i also sometimes zone out when Robert Jordan goes on and on into some silly details. But it is all so worth it! I'm curious after you've read through it all who you favorite character will be then! I had no idea about the tv series, but i hope it will do it justice. I'm thinking that 14 books will have at least 14 seasons, though i expect more....so it's a huge endeavour. Hope i'll live long enough to see it to the end ^^.

great review, about 200 pages in myself, and unfortunately it's slow for me. But I''ll at least get through the first book and go from there. If I'd have one of those Wheel of Time bookmarks to go with it, it would be great. ;) Keep up the good work. Also, any plans for another KKC theory video? If so, what theory ill you be covering?

I found all the Wheel of Time books in paperback at once, including New Spring!, at a store. I bought them all, reserved a special shelf in my library room, but still haven't read them. IDK whether I'll like them or not! LOL I just took a risk from their reputation!

I'm almost finished with Oathbringer myself and there's going to be a big flood of Stormlight Archive videos on my channel :) I still need to work on a Summary video of the first book, (actually, I'm hoping to do this soon) then I'll make reviews and summaries for the other 2 as well as a bunch of Stormlight lore videos!

The thing about the Wheel of Time series is that it's DENSE. Robert Jordan goes into great detail when he describes events or what people/places look like. Great for painting that mental picture for the readers, but kind of a slog to read through. I'm just starting to reread Eye of the World, and while I love it, I have to admit that it can start wearing on me after a chapter or two

I'd love to know why Robert Jordan is loved for his take on LOTR, but Terry Brooks seems to be hated for it. They both write great stories, although given 14 books, there is an insane amount of room for plot development.

Look I love the wheel of time series but by book 5, you get really tired of Jordan’s philosophy about men and women. It’s just gets annoying and you feel like killing one of the female characters(Egwene) just to make the book a little more tolerable. But the overall story is brilliant especially Book 2 and 4.

I've read the first two books in the series and loved them! Never read fantasy before. Just kind of came across this author by chance. I couldn't believe how quickly the pages were turning! Should I read book three? Or should I switch to a different author like Brandon Sanderson?

I'm always surprised people find the first book interesting. I thought the start was fine, but it got really episodic and boring. I never felt they were in "real" danger, and there weren't clear goals other than get away from the bad guys. So, I didn't read the second book until 15 years later when enough people said I had to. I'm through four of them now, and they definitely get better.

The first book is, in short: Epic fantasy where moist of the main characters don't want to be in an epic fantasy, and just keep whining about it.
The second book I actually enjoyed from start to finish, the first one was kind of ehh at times.

My brother has been bugging me to start this series for the longest time. I've always meant to, but I've been putting it off since it's so long. Your synopsis has me itching to pick it up, though. I may have to hack his Audible.
