Like the new set up? 🤔
Looks a lot more clean 👍
Looks nice
...yes.
It’s probably not intentional but you look extra good in this lighting
Mistborn and WoT are easy to see. I like it :D
I love how Perrin and Rand refer to the other one at better with girls than they are
I never picked up on this until you said something. I always hear Rand talk about how Perrin would know what to say when he comes in contact with a pretty woman, but I didn't realize until now that Perrin did the same thing the entire time he was with Egwene lmao
Yeah I thought that was an interesting detail too. I really enjoyed Perrin and Egwene’s little arc too.
I just finished this book last night! (I loved Perrin and Egwene together
I loved that too
LOL!!
Man I wonder what Daniel Greene's opinion is on this epic series is? He has never mentioned the Wheel of Time before, so I am excited to see his take on it.
the irony
😅 look where we are now
The gentle giant is by far one of my favourite tropes (Hagrid, The BFG, Hodor, Wun Wun etc.). I don't understand how anyone can hate Loial.
I wouldn't personally throw Wun Wun up there with the likes of Hagrid and Hodor, as a "gentle giant", but yes. Agreed.
Just finished this book, now I can finally finish watching this video completely!
Hahahahah same thing is happening to me rn
@reine5372 me too atm 😊
@@reine5372me too atm😊
Who in damnation hates Loial? Light blind them
There are people who hate Loial? How?
I love Loial as well. When I read “Eye of the World” when you get introduced to the Loial in the library, I thought that was the best part of the book up to that point.
Just finished the book and I loved that part so much
When Loial asked to go with them, and Rand originally says no, I was like, "NO! Let him go with you! Please!"
Yes. He reminded me at first of Treebeard.
Finished this book the other day. As soon as Loial suggested that he travel with Rand, I was like: "YES. PLEASE, DO IT."
WHY WOULD ANYONE HATE LOIAL?!?!?!?! He's like a huge gentle bumblebee...... he's so sweet :'(((
Just finished the series for the first time. This is helping me cope. Thanks 😂
Just wanted to thank you for rekindling my love of reading again after a loooong gap. Haven't been able to find the headspace in adult life to lose myself in a fantasy series, and your videos and passion for them have really inspired me. Just finished The Eye of the World, and can't WAIT to see where it goes next. Cheers mate.
Does anyone else cry real tears everytime you read the scene with the Greenman? That has to be the one that made me stick with the series. I love the poetry in Jordan's words.
Great channel. Binge-watching all your videos 🤗
Eh, he wasn't really given much backstory, and we barely spent any time with him. He felt a little like Tom Bombadil to me, cool but mostly pointless. We didn't get to know him at all. His death didn't affect me emotionally, except that it was a little awe-inspiring.
Not really, we didn’t spend enough time to build a strong bond with him.
Not really no, the end of this book is so chaotic it's tough to invest in a weird character who shows up for a single chapter.
@@davidjones272 I feel like RJ had writers fatigue by the end of the book so he just wrapped it up the best he could. It’s a shame because I really liked the middle of the book. But I don’t think I’ll keep reading the series.
Like other said... not really. Yeah, he was cool, but I don't think most people cry for a cool character that died two chapters after he was introduced.
Honestly, how could we not love a character who travels around with loads of books in his pockets?! Ogier after my own heart! ❤️❤️❤️
Last couple of read throughs I thought Loial ought to have a Kindle though...would make his life so much easier! 😂
“Tapestry” and “woven”...using them in your review was a great pun.
Graff Fuller, knot.
The wheel weaves as the wheel wills
Hey Daniel, just wanted to say I discovered your channel about a month back and I love everything you’re doing! I kind of slowly stopped recreational reading after I finished Wheel of Time a few years ago, but your videos have convinced me to throw myself back into the genre (and possibly reread WoT)! Can’t wait to hear WoT show updates from you!
Fist of all thank you Daniel for getting me into the wheel of time series, I had never heard of it before I watched your channel.
The first half of this book was so hard for me to get through because I had read Eragon when I was younger and I never realize how much of that series was copied from other books. That being said the book is fantastic and almost done with The Shadow Rising now and I'm hooked on the series.
Finally read this book. Really enjoyed it up to and after the group split up. Felt it to be really slow when they were split up but I see why it was done to grow the characters relationships. Don't think it will be long until I read the next one, just need to read Oathbringer 😀
Great review! I've now finished books 1-4. I felt like The Eye of The World was a book I had to fight through, struggling to keep up with everything and understand what was going on, but once that challenge was managed and I understood who was who and where was where, I was able to follow along with the story. It's an incredible series so far and I look forward to where the next 10 books will take me!
Just finished eye of the world. Who the hell was surprised Rand was the dragon reborn? I knew that from the very first chapter haha.
Love the ending with the Horn being foreshadowed and then given. Really got me pumped for the next book. Really did not see the book getting so dark there at the end. Love the forsaken.
ugh that fall of gondolin book is so aesthetic
Just started reading it last night because of all your Wheel of time content and I love it so far.
Hey man, I just finished this book a few days ago and I have to thank you so much. Its because of you that I was introduced into this amazing and epic series. The Eye of the World was such a great book, it had interesting characters and a good mix in terms of pacing. Oigers rule!
oh man as a new reader thank you for mentioning the white tower podcast! I've needed more podcast.
Thanks for the review! Was indecisive to read it and now can't wait to read it!
Great review. Reading WoT for the 3rd time.
This book was my "entry drug" to the fantasy genre. I was mostly a hardcore sci-fi nut before I read this book. Then, I read it, and my whole life changed. Fantasy is now my favorite genre, and has been for quite some time.
3 years late but, is it good for mature audience?
Thank you for the bring this to my attention. Half way through book 1 and loving it. Can’t wait to read the this whole series.
If your response to the Loyal haters was anything other than what it was I would have unsubscribed immediately.
Fantastic review of the Eye of the World. I agree, Rand is pretty obvious. And it's true, the climax was confusing to me the first time I read it, but every time I reread the book I discover something missed last time.
The Eye of the World has far fewer flaws than later books in the series do.
Have you heard the Wheel of Time based songs by "Blind Guardian" ? "Ride into obsession" and the aptly named "Wheel of Time". Great pieces of music that inspired me to start reading WoT.
Not into such music..
Blind Guardian also made an entire album dedicated to Tolkien :)
Rita Cardoso I love Blind Guardians Middle Earth album
On which album?
Edit. Found it. At the Edge of Time
Edit. Is this what the metal teenagers in the 90's that played D&D were into?😂
The original demo for 'A voice in the Dark' was also about Wheel of Time
I first read Eye of the world in grade 9 in the mid 90s, had to re-read it so many times just because of the amount of time it took for the next book to come out. Every time I read it I pick up new details that carry on to the end.
Hi great video!! Hoping I’ll be reading wheel of time soon!! Happy reading to u!!
New subscriber just because of your videos on the Wheel of Time series.
Hello Dan! First I have to write that I love your channel. I've found it just recently and it is simply magnificent to find someone who has a reason for his thought and opinions. I finished Wheel of Time just last week and it is breathtaking. I fell in love with it and now I'm in the second book and I hope that I can finish the whole series in some reasonable time. Also you mentioned to read the prequel after the fourth book? When is it the best to read it? Thank you! And the new set up is great :)
Dude, your reviews and content overall are spectacular. I know I sound like a broken record at this point, but for real keep up the great work.

I think you've mentioned this before, but what I really appreciate most about EotW is that it introduced the world in such a smooth, clever way without overwhelming the reader. We get to see the world through the eyes of these village people: for the first time.
Simultaneously, RJ is also overwhelming the reader with foreshadowing and clues that require the reader to carefully read every word, every turn of phrase to stay in the know. There is this overarching sense of unknown - about the world, the people, the future - that RJ encapsulated to create a magnificent tension which kept the reader engaged and searching for answers, even during the "walk" periods.
Hey daniel you got me reading wheel of time i just recently started eye of the world and i agree so far the story picked up but i feel troupes he shows great respect i can’t wait to read more thank you for your recommendation
Thanks to you Daniel and Mike's book reviews, I was encouraged to start this series, and just finished the 1st book. Why oh why did anyone not tell me I would love it! (just kidding, u guys did).I love the history of 'Randland', so with a map to follow along this journey with, I had a blast.
Love the video as always! Are you going to review any of the R.A Salvatore books? Since Drizzt made it to the final of your gauntlet I was wondering if you would get to them at some point. Right now I am rereading that series and I am on "The Halfling's Gem" which is one of my favorite books Salvatore has written thus far.
Hey man. I love your WOT content. I'm re-reading through the series currently. I also build custom lightsabers and am planning on doing a crossover saber inspired of Rand's Heron-marked sword :)
Can you do a video on all of the different magic systems?
I had issues with the slow pace of The Eye of the World, even considering dropping the series because of it. But in the end I'm glad I stuck with the series so far. I'm not done yet, but so far it has been great... Also.. Lighting, backdrop and sound quality is great, keep it up!
Dude I'm with you man. Loial's introduction was way out of left field and unexpected for me, but I really enjoy his character. Can't wait to read the rest of the series!
I laughed so hard when you said you hated Loial haters in return 😂😂 great answer - I love Loial so much!! I agree, Ogiers are so unique. I love this first book with all my heart and it makes me so sad when people poo poo it saying it’s a LOTR rip off. Like I can see where they are coming from but it’s so much more than that. But it’s also hard to say that they have to keep reading to really understand the series better.
I just got this book, im on chapter 1. I was really surprised with how good the prologue was : )
I'm currently on Lord of Chaos, and it's so nice to revisit the beginning
Just finished this last night. I didn't think it was that close to LOTR, which I just finished re-reading, especially compared to say, Terry Brooks. The climax-free ending totally sucked ass, but I'm invested now so I'll keep going.
I loved Loial! The very first chapter with him just had me smiling so much. There was this weird amount of joy from Loial when he gets to learn about the world and the awe from Rand about meeting someone new and fantastic, it was so great
I feel like giving up on this book reading about cutting sheep‘s fur on chapter 5 and I feel like I’m so bored that my brain is melting out my ears does it get better from here or is it just cutting sheep’s fur throughout book should I give it a chance again.
Just got done reading Eye of the World. Overall great book. The middle drags a little but once they get to Caemlyn it picks up really quick. I also enjoyed the beginning and the Two Rivers very much felt like the Shire. Great recommendation. I can’t wait to start The Great Hunt
Been reading this book, am on chapter 20, does this get better? Or at least does the plot actually move forward?
Checking out that podcast!
Loial is a delight; I've always thought so, but that opinion was recently reinforced by the audiobooks. Michael Kramer brings him to life so wonderfully.
Also, napalm in the Shire, ha. Thanks so much for that image. I shouldn't have laughed, but I did.
Is New Spring meant to be read after book 4? I heard after book 10 or 11, when it was initially released
It is honestly a pretty boring book I wouldn't read it till you end the series cause the worst book in the series is better than the new spring so better just keep reading
So.. you're a loyal Loial fan? xD Great review, it made me want to reread tEotW like right now 😀
Wheel of Time is not my favorite series but Eye of The World is my favorite book. One of very few books of which all characters I love. I read all books in the series because I want to know the ending but I kept on rereading Eye of The World because I really enjoy it.
Quality as always.
Daniel has finally read The Eye of the World huh :D
P.S. You need to step up your nutella game, this one is easy to find
Oh my god you've read the Wheel of Time?!?!? Best channel evah
Whatabout the BFG by Roald Dahl written 8 years before EoTW?
Great reviews
I enjoyed the part when they travelled the Ways. It adds a nice suspenseful, creepy element to their world.
Is this safe to watch as someone who just finished the book for the first time and wants absolutely no spoilers for the rest of the series? Just looking to collect my thoughts and summarize the events of the first book without having any future books spoiled.
Also is the podcast you mention also safe from spoilers regarding future books they aren't currently focusing on?
Yes to the first question
The Eye of the World is one of my favorite books in the world. Thinking of its story and characters when they're at their most innocent warms my heart. I couldn't care less if it's basically the same story as the Fellowship of the Ring - THAT'S not one of my favorite books, in fact I struggled with that one the most of that series. But the Eye of the World blew my mind, I couldn't put it down and was literally reading it while eating dinner. My favorite parts of it are Shadar Logoth, Rand and Mat travelling alone together, when they reach Caemlyn, and anything with Nynaeve. I just love it.
I just finished this book and the last 70 pages were just... I mean. I barely know what happened and I assume it's meant to be like that. Should I dig (google) and try find out or just jump straight into book 2? I feel like I might spoil other books if try and find a detailed explanation.
Loial makes me think of Treebeard and that's a good thing.
Before I started watching this video I said to myself "I hope he loves Loial as much as I do". Great review. I hope to see Tom make a Gandalf-like return in the next book (fingers crossed).
Same! I just started reading the great hunt! Peace I hope Tom is back
Is that a jar of Nutella on top of your bookshelf? 🤣
Started it last night. Having a great time reading it.
Aww Daniel no, don't hate the Loial haters - they deserve our compassion! But seriously, I really love Loial too, he's like a big wise nerdy teenager ^_^
how many hours a day do you spend reading?
Just finished this book yesterday and now starting the great hunt. So pumped. Loved book one.
My favorite part of book one was probably when Rand was in the presence of queen Morgase. That whole chapter was captivating. Especially when the queen’s aes Sedaj whispers to him that the pattern is forming a web around him specifically. That’s kind of when you realize that Moiraine isn’t bullshitting lol. Also Loial is phenomenal.
You recommend reading New Spring after #1 or #4? And it won't spoil the rest? I assumed it had to be read at the very end.
Kitty Machine yup!
@@DanielGreeneReviews
AWESOME!!!!! I'm on a long loooong wait list for the 8th book, but I know for a fact that A New Spring is available right now :D Mwahaaahaahaa!
Thanks Daniel 🖤
Just finished this book today
Would you say that this book is geared toward young adults mainly?
I just started reading this series a month ago and am almost done with book 8! I absolutely love it, and your videos really help me understand everything better. Keep up the good work!
Will the podcast spoil the other books or will they just stick to the eye of the world?
I like the new decor, but you do need some curtains, it's not good for your books.
Yeah, EotW was slow going, especially the first two thirds, but it picks up from then on, and gets better and better, until after LoC, then it drags, and doesn't really pick back up until KoD. I'm not saying that there wasn't some cool things happening, but it dragged for a lot of it.
Can i read this book without reading the prequel?
I felt Two Rivers part and Mat+Rand+Thom separate section could have been shortened. There was fatigue for me around chapter 34 and chapter 35 where similar results occur for Rand+Mat and i am more worried about Perrin+Egwene.
Favourite part is definately Camelyn events. So much cumulative events happen in that city. Literally city feels as grand with stakes for main group as city itself is compared to WOT world.
Read the first 4 chapters so far I love it
Just finished it for the third time!
I loved Loial amazing character.
Mat and Perrin are awesome.
It took me a month to get through bc I had to look up every character and every place, the magic system and the wheel drives me nuts on the nonlinear change that could happen
can someone tell me if this review spoils anything from future books, I just read the first book and want to watch this video but obviously won’t if it mentions things that happen in future books
I loved the opening of the wheel of time. I don't care that it was similar with the Lord of the Rings. I think it was a wonderful feeling to be presented to this big epic and mystic world through the eyes of these young farm boys. I think it was smart way to introduce the reader to what is going to come in the books by foreshadowing it with Moirane and Lan and Thom aririving at the village. I think the first chapters in the wheel of time is the best in the whole book. I also loved Loial, he was awesome, I think it was too little time spent on the ogiers in the series, they where a fasinating race. One thing I also liked about the whole series was that Robert Jordan didn't use any of the common races in fantasy like elves and dwarves that wouldn't have worked in the series I think. Maybe the trolloocs looks a bit like the orcs but they where bad ass with their different animal heads so who cares. It is the most epic fantasy series ever created, you all must agree on that.
Is that a Nutella jar on the shelf?
One of the hardest books for me to continue. It didn’t grab me until later on.
He Daniel it's my birthday 😊 Great vid
I've read the series but I remember neither a character named Loial, nor a Hopper.
Haha! Of course I'm not serious... not like I am about Bela the horse being the light side equivalent to Shaidar Haran.
just ordered wot 1 and 2 :)
Recommend Jack Whyte’s Dream if Eagles series. Historical fiction. Feels like a fantasy.
I just finished reading TEOTW and what a feat it was to get through and I enjoyed it. but I won't be re-reading it again. Too long lol.
I notice from casual readers. That the prologue turns them off. And they don't read on any further. Do you think they should skip the prologue and go right into the next chapter?
Lol you cracked me up several times. Respect haha
I gave myself the challenge of reading the wheel of time in Portuguese and just finishing the Great Hunt. At this point I am not so sure if I actually read TEOTW or not xD
My favorite scene was Thom's "death".
Just finished this book. I love loial. How do people hate him??
I want to start by saying I love the series as a whole and I love the first book as well... however then ending was not that great for me. I mostly liked it, but the fact that was Rand was so actively inactive made me feel a little cheated as a reader... it's like he was doing all these amazing things, but he was just along for the ride. I still liked the book though...
So, I just read this book because you keep bringing up WoT and, overall, I'm just kinda 'meh' about it.
My biggest problem with it is plot armour.
After chapter 8, I just didn't believe that anyone on the Good side was in any real danger, ever.
As to the LotR paralells, I dispute that they stop after the first third. I was over 90% in before all the analogues to LotR came home to me (I know cos I calculated it for my StoryGraph progress tracker).
It's not bad - in fact, it was quite fun examining how Jordan was doing things differently - but there is a lot in there.
