    Ursula Wiegand's review:
"[...] Since only around 400 music fans are currently allowed into the Great Hall for distance reasons, this doubling is a welcome gesture, good for the audience and also good for the Berlin Philharmonic. From September 1st there will also be more double seats for couples who were separated at the end of August. Presumably quite a few people have expressed their displeasure against this ordered isolation.
[...] the way Trifonov shapes each phase of the three movements of this piano concerto, which took Beethoven eight years to complete, becomes an experience. The tones sparkle, but none are lost and each tone takes on its own meaning. Even the numerous trills are given an individual coloring, and the forte is of course really powerful.
Trifonov gives the Largo, in which Beethoven opened his heart, a special intimacy. It tells of the “immortal beloved” intimately and dreamily.
[...] Trifonov now immerses himself completely in Beethoven's loving, melancholic memories. Ludwig's depression, caused by his early onset of hearing loss, also seems to have found its place not only in the Heiligenstadt Testament, but also in this Largo.
Tifonov's piano playing becomes ever quieter, but the scale of sliding tones remains crystal clear. The audience listens with bated breath, and Petrenko and the Philharmonic can hardly do anything else. There is almost a fear that the concert could fall apart.
But there is also Beethoven's well-known counter-reaction with the striking saying: "I want to reach down the throat of fate"... The third movement with Rondo-Allegro-Presto brings the turning point, and the concerto now swings from C minor to optimistic -fighting C major.
With bravura and full physical effort, it's not just Trifonov who brings this courageous turnaround to fruition. Petrenko and his team, which is highly valued around the world, are also making this happen. Intense applause for this great pianist and his accompanists, who so kindly let him go first. [...]"

Trifonov is like the epitomy of accomplished Zianist. He came for Piano. but sat on the Z key first instead so now its part of his identity
