Been using pixelmator for about 9 years just bought the pro version I had the way adobe is way too expensive the ok CC versions were fair price but the subscription model sucks
I'd rather eat a bowl of my own body fat, than trust Apple after effing me over Professionally, first with Aperture, and then Final Cut Pro re-envisioned for amateurs. Go Affinity, or Open Source.
Took up photography again after a long pause. I don't sell anything, its all for fun. Paying a monthly ransom is not ever going to make sense. I was at one time very good at Photoshop. I bought both Pixelmator and Photomator. I am able to do anything I need to as an enthusiast with these tools. (With one exception) I use Affinity for focus stacking. It is because of your videos that I was able to even know that this capability was in existence. Thank you. Oh, and who knew that you could drag a video into Pixelmator? Apparently you! Fantastic!
I’ve got Pixelmator but just haven’t used it much. This video is just what I need to get me started using it more. I’ve been mostly using Affinity and a very old app that’s no longer available called Print Shop. It’s been around since the Apple II. Yes, I’m that old. 😃 I’ve refused to get caught up with Adobe. I dropped them when they went to the subscription after purchasing updates for many years. I’m not a fan of their business model and that’s putting it nicely - need I say more.
I bought Affinity but haven't used it enough to want to use it. The subscription model isn't for me. I have several old version of Photoshop, but the computers can't keep with my workflow or file sizes from the Nikon D850 or Z9.
If you compare the view counts to some of his other videos, you can see why. I blame the algorithm for forcing people into excessively specialized niches.
@@AWriterWandering In fairness I've only made 3 Pixelmator videos 😂 people are definitely interested in the software but regardless I will be posting more of my typical fun design videos!
My work requires me to color using CMYK, not just convert finished work from RGB to CMYK. If Apple updated Pixelmator to do that like PS does, I’d dump PS. But then I don’t think Pixelmator would stay at $50. Btw, love your videos!
Remember, the Pixelmator team just joined Apple, meaning give the team time for the unification to the ecosystem you mentioned. Adobe will have to contend with the editor free on every apple device. Great purchase Apple.
I think the Pixelmator videos are doing so much better because people wanna see the software that Apple just purchased in action and you're probably making some of the best content comparing it to its direct competitor -- Photoshop. Keep up the content!
essentially I think that adobe, affinity and pixelmator have very different philosophies of development. - Adobe leads the market and it's messy and cluncky and sometimes stressful to use. They instead of focusing on making their software more stable, run smoothly and fun, they put their energy into pleasing the shareholders with A.I. - Affinity is the new kid and it's just as good (or almost as good) as Adobe (when it comes to Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator and Indesign) and their focus might be to make the software have more features and be more professional, all the more because of the Canva merger. They need to make sure that their programs lean into professional side, don't lack any features and make it feel better than adobe. - Pixelmator already has a general public which are those that stick to using the Apple software like Apple Motion, Final Cut, Logic... etc... It has to extend what you can do with the base apple software but doesn't need to be everything that Photoshop is. Of course they might try to have a lot of those features but I don't think that their direction is a complete Photoshop/Illustrator/Indesign substitute.
This is a really fair analogy. For awhile I tried going from Adobe to Affinity. This last time I just finally said let’s do it for a couple reasons. One it feels like with 2.6 (testing the beta) they are very close especially to what I need. 2.) I look at the Canva thing as a good thing. They will have more resources and they have promised alot so they have to stick to it. Ok third. I did not get rid of Adobe because they suck or evil. As a biz owner that uses these tools to make a living although the monthly sucks you can pay that and justify it. Ok. Fourthly LOL. Recently Canva announced that they have put together an advisory board of designers I really respect to go over Canva and Affinity and make recommendations. The biggest issue over the yrs with Affinity was a lack of leaders in the design community talking about it and more importantly using it. Now you have people like Jessica Hische , James Martin, Will Paterson. This is huge. This is going to come off mean and not meant to be but in the past alot of tutorials and ppl talking about Affinity the work was ok. These people will elevate awareness and quality. At the end of the day the software is a vessel. Learn your craft. I enjoy Affinity because it feels clean and works together. Anything that Affinity can not do and it’s not much I use a very little know software called vectorstyler. It literally is like a copy of illustrator for like I think 50 one off.
My main trouble with Pixelmator - other than it being unfamiliar to me, a seasoned Photoshop dabbler, is that I just can't work oht how to make new paintbrushes. I'm sure it's possible, but it isn't obvious to me.
This video is directly comparing Pixelmator Pro to Photoshop. The last video I posted was a brief overview of all of Pixelmator's features, taking a look at its Illustrator, Lightroom, and video editing capabilities.
Will you be switching to Pixelmator?
Definitely, so keep making more videos
Already have

For me the Generative AI features are what is keeping me with Adobe.
Same here
absolutely.
This man's last 4 to 5 video is the same 😅

So for the rotate, just hold the Command key and your cursor will pop up the rotate option for your layer.
Can you compare pixlemator to affinity
For Glow, use drop shadow and set distance to zero and change the color. Very fast and easy.
Thank you! I’ll try this method
@ use blur amount to change the size of the glow 😊

Fair enough! That's definitely one of the differences between Pixelmator and a professional software right now. Thanks for watching!
Where did u get ur MacBook decal
It's a custom hard shell case that I got off of Amazon, I designed it myself and just uploaded the artwork to be printed. About $20
Remember, the Pixelmator team just joined Apple, meaning give the team time for the unification to the ecosystem you mentioned. Adobe will have to contend with the editor free on every apple device. Great purchase Apple.
Agreed, it will be interesting to see how the integration goes! I’m optimistic

Try Affinity plz

Well said, I am hoping that Pixelmator and Affinity both continue to evolve - time will tell
I'm switching to affinity, I just wish Photoshop''s generative fill was there
Agreed!
So how does it compare to Affinity?
It doesn’t, I eventually got a trial version and it’s very thin on the ground compared to affinity.
My main trouble with Pixelmator - other than it being unfamiliar to me, a seasoned Photoshop dabbler, is that I just can't work oht how to make new paintbrushes. I'm sure it's possible, but it isn't obvious to me.
is there a promotion for pixelmator? black week
Apple never do discount on Black Friday so no
No promotion unfortunately but they do have a 7-day free trial
🙏
The music is distracting and does nothing for this comparison.
Fixing this for my next video right now
I thought you were joking about getting a hundred views for the iMac video😭
What is the difference between this video and the last one you made about the same topic? Click bait? Or further developments ?

This guy look very familiar was he in other channel before?
Photoshop has actions and Pixelmator does not I created a quick auto sharpen action to speed up my photo editing gotta find a work around for that
PS + LR = $10 pm
Again?
