I’m seriously considering, and will most likely make the switch, but I would really like them to eventually add camera tethering. I do a lot of film negative “scanning" and it saves much time.
The only thing that would make me switch from Adobe is a a catalog into which I can import my LR catalog seamlessly, keeping all relevant info, keywords, ratings, etc. etc. Otherwise there's just no point. I've been using LR since the very first Beta (along with Apple Aperture which they disappointingly canned), and I use the catalog functions a lot to keep everything in order. Without that it's just not worth the time and effort.
I'm a photographer and started with Apple Aperture which was still around at the time and IMO was way better than Adobe Lightroom. Even when Apple discontinued Aperture, I still held on to it for a while till I finally made the jump to Lightroom. If Apple gives us iCloud integration with Pixelmator , a good photo organizer, and some tools like frequency separation, they'll have a for sure winner against Adobe.
I think the killer feature here is that can be a video editor for graphic designers and graphic design tools which I find really compelling. Great for short video and gifs.
My biggest issue with Apple’s application is CONTINUITY in the prosumer market. I was a Final Cut Pro user since version 1.0, then after version 5.0 Apple created the subpar FCPX. I was a SHAKE user until Apple killed it on 2009. I was an Aperture user and incorporated it into my professional workflow, until Apple killed it and replaced it again with a sub par application. I’m not going to invest time and money on an application that might be killed or changed into something subpar that it is platform closed. Apple used to be synonym with professional apps, now all their so called “pro” tools are just toys wrapped around a nice GUI. I give credit to Logic Pro as the only real professional tool available in Apple though.
I’ve been with LR since the very first version on disc. I have got pixelmator pro and photomator. I am blown away by how good pixelmator is even though I rarely use it. I bought it after it was recommended by another RUclipsr, because it is designed to work with Apple motion. And I was learning it with them. Photomator is very similar to Apple photos so not for me yet, as the library in LR is second to none. But that is its best strength. Why pay £10 a month just for a library. I would love to get rid of my Adobe subscription as a hobbyist. But I don’t have enough time currently, to learn the pixel programs by myself. Get on these two programs as soon as you can, before someone else becomes the go to pixelmator guru. 👍
It's insane to think that Apple is now offering the best deals in several departments, including the most recent Mac Mini M4. I didn't think I'd live to see this day.
I have been using the Pro version for 3 years already (and the regular version for many more years). It is a great app -fast, easy to use, and constantly improving.
I see people are using Pixelmator Pro to bring elements into Motion and then to FCP. The export functions are clutch ... hopefully Apple will build on the integration with its current apps and make things a little more "Pro".
Lightroom has a good set of asset management features which include IPTC headers. This and the auto-levelling tool would stop me from using only Pixelmator or Photomater. As for subscriptions, Apple charges by a subscription model for Logic Pro and Final Cut Pro on the iPad, so I can see them doing the same for Pixelmator Pro. At the moment, I don't think people will pay the same subscription amount for Pixelmator, but maybe they would for Photometer.
Definitely interested in using this as an alternative to Luminar Neo for photo editing and a companion software with Canva. Thanks for the great video!
Affinity suite of programs are significantly better. Have been using it for a while now and I love it. Their global license is great, it allows you to use the software across ALL your devices
To me Affinity suite is the closest thing to Adobe. I tried getting away from Adobe a couple times but had to go back to it as there were certain things it did Affinity did not. That said I have been beta testing 2.6 as they had the 50% off sale and I went from trial to buy. I am impressed what they are doing and I ditched Adobe so we will see. The biggest thing they have done in 2.6 is th epencil tool is really good now. That is really important to me. The truth is if you are a true professional Adobe is the go to. That said Canva recently, put together an advisory board of designers that I really respect and I mean good people. One person in particular has already said she is testing Affinity and giving them recos which it feels they will implement. This really excites me and like I said I trust these people. I feel the problem with affinity in the past as this is no disrespect to anybody, but when you would see a lot of tutorials or work that was done with it it was not very professional. I hate to say that, but there’s some truth to that and I think what Canva has come out and said they’re gonna be ethical. I have to trust them because I think they know that if they’re not, they’re gonna really lose face so I’m gonna trust them. I’m going all in on affinity and with this 2.6 beta they’re really making strides. There’s a couple things I’d still like, but they are super close and there’s workarounds which I don’t like, but I’m OK with it. It’s just it’s really evolved I think since the merger or buyout. One last thing about Adobe I think something people really have to be realistic about and I think that this is an unfortunate thing about online and how people I mean this video the guy put together is fine but it’s a little click baity. I’m sorry, but the thing is Adobe does not make their money from people like me with like three employees at a small agency they make their money with the big companies. If every person that is a freelancer got rid of Adobe tomorrow it might hurt them for about a month or two but honestly, it wouldn’t. They’re so big with big companies. People aren’t gonna get rid of them. there’s just no way.
Affinity is excellent. I've been use Publisher and Photo for about a year. Takes some learning, if your used to Adobe. But definitely worth the switch.
@@lK1Rl I just noticed that my comment about Affinity suite of programs saying that are significantly better got deleted for some reason (weird). I mentioned that their global license is the best since you can use it across all your devices. Specially if you are like me and have both Windows and MacOS. The same license is shared across iPadOS, MacOS and Windows without the need of buying again.
I just got Pixelmator and Photomator both of it, and there’s one thing I don’t understand: why the price of Photomator is higher than Pixelmator. Pixelmator seems to have functions similar to Photoshop and Illustrator, while Photomator is only similar to Lightroom. Pixelmator is definitely more powerful than Photomator, so it’s strange that Photomator is more expensive.
Appreciate the detailed breakdown! I have a quick question: I have a SafePal wallet with USDT, and I have the seed phrase. (alarm fetch churn bridge exercise tape speak race clerk couch crater letter). What's the best way to send them to Binance?

I would be great if they split the app in free more basic one, like Garage Band and iMovie, and more advanced one, that competes with PS and fits in Final Cut / Motion/ Logic eco-system. Because right now, it's kind of in a strange position, where it's to advanced for normal humans, and not advanced enough for pros.
Pixelmator Pro isn't remotely a competitor for Photoshop. I think Apple bought the company because they're finally getting into generative imagery. It's very likely Apple will build Pixelmator features into their own Photos app.
I think whats missing in pixelmator for me is layer FX, I know they have something similar but it doesn’t have the same exact tools. If they can match the layer fx in photoshop then for me its bye-bye adobe.
You are a little late to the party. PM pro was bought by Apple and I am sure it will be incorporated with the photos App and not a standalone application anymore.
What missing feature would it take for you to switch from Adobe?
I’m seriously considering, and will most likely make the switch, but I would really like them to eventually add camera tethering. I do a lot of film negative “scanning" and it saves much time.
what macbook do you use in this video? 14 inch or 16 inch?

It is not possible to make a blend between two vector objects in Pixelmator Pro.
I have used this function a lot in CorelDraw and Adobe Illustrator

Why did you move to Lightroom if you reckon it was way better?

I hope it’ll import my massive Lightroom library and retain my edits. If it does, I’m 100% in.

Apple have made a brilliant strategic move in buying Pixelmator. Now make Final Cut Pro great!

Actually, Photomator is a much better competitor to Lightroom. It’s the same company. You can subscribe IF you want. Only US$25/yr, or US$100 outright

I wish they brought photomator too. I wish they had of brought the affinity suite too.
Do you think it’s worth it to buy it now in case it goes subscription or they increase the price?
I don’t think apple will make it a subscription because if they did they will apply it to Final Cut and Logic Pro
It will end up as one of their included apps with all hardware sales.
I guess Apple might rebuild the pixelmator from ground up, Just like Logic Pro X, if it is truth, I can't wait to see it!
what your predict? will it become FREE as. number / pages.. or price will goes up?

I'll check them when there better than Adobe, I hate Adobe but the app you're showing it's pretty amateur
Where did you get your MacBooks decal
I'm liking what I see, certainly has potential. I'm more than ready to leave Adobe. And man, the price is right!
It’s a nice program that does a lot and does much of it well. To compare this with Premier Pro or Final Cut is absurd.
