Moffat as a showrunner was dubious, but when he had a solid idea for a moment, goddamn. The notion of not knowing whether the Doctor or Clara lost their memory is played out so well. And Capaldi and Coleman play it like a fiddle.

I love this episode, one of my favourite finales. It's full of heart. This is the first time I've really watched this scene from Clara's point of view. The longer she's talking to him she realises he really doesn't remember her. After all the places they've been together & all the things they done together, and the Doctor doesn't even know who she is. That would have destroyed Clara inside. Also the fact that he mentioned he remembered he was there with Amy & Rory at one point at 3:57 you can see that hurt her, knowing he remembered them but not her.

It completes the tragedy that started in "Face the Raven". Watching Jenna's reactions as Peter delivers his lines of loss, and finally turning away to keep it together. Every sad song is about something that ended, and maybe shouldn't have. But the Impossible Girl leaves him a final message, to carry on, to run, you clever boy, and be a Doctor. And the broken Doctor does in a scene where nothing is said, just Peter's acting and Murray Gold's music. And the memories do, eventually, return.
For me 11th was definitely for the Ponds while 12th was for Clara. While the companionship with 11th and Clara was fun, 12th really was the bestfriend Clara had.
And it didn't start that way. At first Clara didn't accept the 12th Doctor. Do you remember the phone call that Clara got from the the 11th Doctor? You left me hanging without that last chord! Gaaaah! Anyway, I have now seen all of your clips, and you have another subscriber. Keep up the good work!
This scene completely broke me. I’ve had relatives go through dementia and Alzheimer’s. They would completely forget the faces of their loved ones, not recognize them standing right in front of them and talking. They would remember bits and pieces of events past but not ever recognize the faces. It’s my worst fear of aging, personally. It’s its own kind of death; a living death, forgetting the face of your loved ones and no longer recognize them while they are standing just two feet away from you. Not being able to receive love while being surrounded by it. It’s horrible. Anyway, this scene reminded me of that. The Doctor, as if with dementia, telling a beautiful story of longing for a beautiful loved one to a presumed perfect stranger, but who is actually standing right in front of him the entire time, and he can’t just reach out and touch her. I know there are worst forms of torture, but this is pretty up there.
Totally agree, Peter and Jenna were phenomenal together. You watch this high standard of acting then watch the current Who actors, there is no comparison.
I really wish these two got an ending like River or Donna. They were so close and even if they don't show it just the knowledge of these two living out their livers together for as long as possible would mean a lot. I mean he was willing to do anything to protect her and that's what made them dangerous but if they just went on safe adventures and she learned from her death to not do anything without the doctor then they would have been fine. And they still could have moved on to Bill after. The 70 years he was guarding Missy at the school he could have been with Clara. He wasn't doing anything dangerous then and Bill and Clara could have met before she passed away. It would also have been interesting if Bill and Clara had developed a relationship before she died because it would have brought 12 and Bill closer together. It would have also been easier to accept Bill as the new companion if Clara and the doctor lived a good life and Bill knew Clara.
I like how time Lords and Rasselon were stated as greatest and wisr people in the very beginning of the show And now Doctor speaks of them like of Mafia

@@mel-burnes Each to their own, I guess. I love the whole ark of Face the Raven-Heaven Sent-Hell bent.
What Steven Moffat did was so beautifully and deeply tragic. My heart shatters in a million ways every time I sit down to watch these three episodes.
You might not have liked it but I, many others, love the hell out of it.
Why do you think hell bent is bad
@@Sydneymotor2The bizarre sexism present in the episode is pretty uncomfortable.
I will say the Ep had a really good twist, the whole time makes u think the doctor is visiting Clara who's forgotten who he is and then bang it's the reverse.
I'm learning to play the guitar just to be able to play this song. Well so far, I can play the notes, but still need some training to play it at the right speed and tempo.
Good luck mate.
This are the best scenes till now :')
I came here looking for how he played her theme, so I could get the chords right… I sat here and cried instead. Now I’m sobbing over my guitar…
Am I going to be the only one that points out how _fucking cool_ it is that Peter Capaldi can play the guitar?
CLARA'S OUTFIT!!!! 😍😍
Jenna Coleman aka "Clara Oswald"... She´s so damn hot... We´re gonna miss her...THX for being in the world of "Doctor Who"... You made the whole thing so exciting....
I just realized this is version Queen’s “Don’t Stop Me Now” playing in the background 🤦🏽♀️😂
You left me hanging without that last chord! Gaaaah! Anyway, I have now seen all of your clips, and you have another subscriber. Keep up the good work!
Clara is so dam gorgeous.
Fuck this still breaks my heart. Maybe even more today than it did the first time.
They have a vast mind with so many things inside it at once. Of course The Doctor created their companion's themes
Her cafe outfit reminds me of Belle - *every time* lmao
Omg this is so beautiful! And sad.
One of my favorite episodes in all of Who! This part is so poignant.
"from time to time" :D
"Nothings sad until its over, then everything is."
Is it just me who just got the reference to the impossible astronaut when he came here
ive just noticed, "dont stop me now" is playing, it was in mummy on the orient express 😢
Come at me if you want but I think Capaldi and Coleman are the best actors in the show. At least New Who, haven't watched Classic.
100th time watching….don’t cry this time, don’t cry this time…..😭😭😭😭
I like how time Lords and Rasselon were stated as greatest and wisr people in the very beginning of the show
And now Doctor speaks of them like of Mafia
Ah, really. It’s so nice what Steven Moffat did. (Like, painful. But light)
Everytime i watch this scene it breaks my heart - she mentions the tardis and he didnt even clock on to it until it was too late
“nothings sad til it’s over, then everything is” 😭
If anyones viewing this back after a certain scene recently that looked quite similar to this then here is your space to let it all out people cuz I kinda teared up
just realized they’re playing the same song as the one in the mummy on the orient express, their so-called “last hurrah”
in series 4 he wiped Donna's memory to keep her safe
now his memory was wiped to keep Clara save
im not crying ur crying
Hands up if you've been inside that Cafe.
Yep, twice.
@@jooie444 Its gone now.
@@stevecardiff444 I know 😥We had lunch there when we made our last visit to the Doctor Who Experience.
"I thought that was non-diegetic"
Y'know, that American diner looks suspiciously like one in Cardiff Bay.
Its gone now - unfortunately.
i never once thought it might be the doctor who lost the memories
