To support financial aspect of argument. Indonesia financial condition itself is really bad compared to dollar. $1 in Indonesia can afford two dinner, that's why barely Indonesia viewer willing to give donation.
One way to be financially stable in Indonesia Vtuber market is to have as much susbs as possible like Kobo and Ollie did, but it's way more difficult compare to just aim for EN market. This argument also the reason why Reine and Anya as Ollie's genmate decide to stream mostly in EN or JP.

    • @novocode
      @novocode 4 месяца назад +76

On one hand, I really did enjoy the streams that Hana did with her dad. It brought in quite a bit of humor into the gameplay. But when it comes down to it, her dad wasn't apart of Niji, and Hana probably didn't want the fanbase to always ask "where is your dad?" when she was suppose to be the main talent.
But that's the thing, sometimes it can be harder to do anything solo. If you have a duo that can work well with each other, then the fanbase could see that.
I mean, I couldn't follow the ID branch much because I didn't know the language. Wish there was a universal translator, so that I could understand anyone, but we aren't there yet. So, when I can I have English, or at least English subtitles, then I'm good. When Hana and Bon sometimes did english streams, those were good too.
But since Niji showed their true "colors", I've kind of given up on them as an agency. I just feel sorry for the talents that are suffering because of their terrible company.

you dont know how heartbreaking it was, when the Holo ID members, especially Gen 1, said goodbye 1 by 1 to the Niji ID members who graduate
I don't play Monster Hunter but when Iofi said that she won't have Monhun friends to play with anymore it made me cry a little bit
I'll say this: there was seemingly no one wants to graduate from NijiID before the merger, heck we were expecting a new wave because a video made by a youtuber visiting Niji office in Japan

I still remember the interview with Yagoo on what he wish to gain with Holo ID gen 2, and thinking back, Yagoo was/is probably the only CEO who truly understand where the potential of an ID branch lies: community building
Back on the interview, he could've said that he wish for Holo ID gen 2 to be a boost of exposure of Holo to the Indonesians, but no, I remember Yagoo specifically said that what he wished from Holo ID gen 2 was for it to be the bridge between the EN community & JP community. That really shows what Yagoo think of his ID branch, and what kinda potential he saw from having it
ID is a very culturally diverse country, unlike EN with it's western culture incline & JP with it's eastern culture incline, ID stands right at the middle. Their culture is western enough to get along with EN & eastern enough to get along with JP, so Yagoo probably saw that their community building potential was very good, especially with iconic duos like Pekomoon, Kororisu & Iosora at the time that helped in introducing the JP talents to the EN mainstream, and they helped even the Holostars that was unwelcome by the JP fans & unknown by most of the EN fans at the time, to the mainstream scene with all the iconic IDStars collabs, and so Yagoo built the ID branch with it as the bridge in mind
And I think it still how it goes to this day too. ID is clearly playing a big role in their plan to return to China. Unlike the rest of the branch, IDs actually have perms to play CN games, like Mobile Legends & WuWa, this shows that Cover is still counting on them as the inter-cultural bridge even beyond just the vtubing landscape, but the business as a whole, and the recent Kobo BiliBili stream, was just the icing on the cake on this

or alternative theory is that with NijiID "horde" defunct, the fans diaspora ignited others' (holo, small agencies and indies) growth. the 19 member of Niji ID was triggering everyone's decision paralysis making them kinda fading from fan's consciousness. the sheer headcount feels like a barrier to entry preventing vtuber to go mainstream just like how jkt48 didn't go mainstream.

@@fltfathin Nah I don't think NijiID really established themselves to that degree in the first place. Hana had a big spike but that seemed to be due to a global jump and interest in her due to a lot of english streams, and then after that mika passed her. The rest of ID never got close to these 2 in earnings or numbers even remotely. HoloID in and of itself was a different breed entirely with only mika able to contest earnings, and no one able to contest numbers(but this is due to holo buff so understandable).
Very few support all from a branch. You bring in more so there are more options and niches that are covered. The idea being that even if the big few don't draw them then there is someone that will. You essentially aim for 1/2 for people, and this is true even for area branches. Niji just failed as they do in general...poor logistic support and terrible branch management. Numbers aren't there for everyone to support but to give more choices.

As a Cinguin from the Amicia Michella channel, it was heartbreaking to see everything unfolds as NijiID was sacked and merged with KR and JP.
The streams that used to be predominantly Indonesian began shifting to English and occasionally Japanese, unique channel mainstays like horror story reading and drawing streams began slowly dwindling out, and she even tried to branch out with more variety content like comic dubs, international collabs, Japanese lessons, even movie watch-alongs.
The sad thing was that even though those content were creative and incredibly entertaining, her channel barely grows due to a lack of interest from both EN and JP (that she tried to cater to), especially with the NijiID Twitter gone and the main Niji branch barely advertising ex-ID members.
As time goes on, even those variety streams stopped, and as her upload began to slow down, followed by an extended hiatus due to burnout, we all knew that it was about time to say goodbye.
She graduated on July 16th last year with a huge fanfare, leaving a legacy of several memorable collab songs as her farewell.

  • @thefactory7221

It's jarring in retrospect how Hana got the most of what counts as Nijisanji's management and support. She's the only ID member that got a 3D model, and one of the few members that actually got refular updates to hwe avatar wardrobe.
It still makes me sad how Zea Cornelia *One of Hana's debuting peers*... *Visibly struggled on set* with technical issues that could have easily been fixed with a midgrade PC or laptop of the era, or even just bankrolling a decent ISP plan.
Zea's adorable, she filled that niche of wholesome cuteness, but mature enough to actually retain an adult audience. If Hana was the flash in the pan that got attention, Zea's the actual seasoning that makes you a lifetime customer.
I hope she's happy wherever she is now, the only worth Nijisanji gave to her was the chance to make some decent friends.
Mika's another fun one. In her twilight months, i distinctively remember one (clipped) stream moment highlighting her reasoning for Graduation. She in her own words, hit the ceiling for her potential in Niji ID, which is another red flag for how little support Anycolor actually gave Niji ID.
Anycolor didn't just have one golden goose. They had a whole flock, and they let all the geese starve.

One thing to note about Indonesian audience before kobo broke the mainstream is that many indonesian that already know/immersed in the culture either speak English or japanese. This is especially apparent when you see artist on Twitter other social media, you see many artist speak english and japanese that are actually Indonesian. I think this is why it took so long for vtuber to break the mainstream, Kobo can't speak japanese at her debut and her english is passable, so mainstream Indonesian are actually relating to her

  • @arkanine8076
    @arkanine8076 4 месяца назад +45

Just want to add a few things, mainly from my own opinion.
Now, I think Hana's drop from the public eye is mainly due to long and frequent hiatuses she had back then, at the height of her popularity. If I remember correctly, the hiatuses are partly due to her fanbase getting out of control and her being burned out because of it, but I think it's not just that. You see, despite everything, she's actually the type that doesn't like to be in the spotlight. She doesn't like the fact that she's popular, and she doesn't want to be dictated by that popularity, by the "fans" that come with it--she just wants to have fun doing the things she wants and likes, donations and merch be damned. In fact, I think it's safe to say that pretty much everyone in Niji ID, past and present, shares the same sentiment. That's not a bad thing per se, but keep in mind that they're still under Nijisanji--the company that, over the years, has increasingly shown themselves to be very profit-driven, and with sub-par management too. Like the video said: "enough" is not an option. You're either good, or you're gone.
Also, this is probably not the main reason of the branch's "downfall", but I think it at least warrants a mention: a lack of clear and definitive "leader". By that, I mean the leader in subs and views, one that also tries to boost the other members when they can. Hana was poised to be one, but unfortunately, aside from her genmates, she's too shy to reach out to anyone, even those under the same branch. A few others have tried, but ultimately they just couldn't, and still don't, reach the level of clout that Hana had at the time. It wasn't until Mika came along that it looks like someone could finally take that mantle, but there's two big problems with that: one, she ended up being closer to the EN members instead; and two, she came too late, being part of the sixth and last wave of the ID branch before it got merged a few months later. In the end, barely anyone of the ID branch could take advantage of said merger, and eventually, not only their identity as "Nijisanji ID" fades away, but also their motivation to keep going. And as the potential "leaders" left one by one, the remaining members just... languish.

I.e- First world: Countries that align with the United States
Second world:Countries that align with or contained USSR
Third world: Countries that don’t align with either of them.
The current definition people refer to ‘first world’ was crafted through decades of propaganda where aligning with the USA means enrichment.
It’s why Türkiye would be classified as a first world country, but with a gdp per capita of 10k is comparable to South American countries which are labeled 3rd world.

It's unfortunate the branch was disbanded. Even today I try to think what could be done to grow the branch but I genuinely have no idea.

NijiJP learn something, rather than disband the brach like what they did to Niji India with only 3 talents, they choose let 30+ talents from KR & ID to suffer without support so they can minimize the damage

It feels sad, what got me started watching vtubers was Nijisanji, with the talent Layla Alstroemeria. Back then I was really naive, watching her felt like seeing a world I had never seen before, a happy feeling for finding such enjoyable entertainment. Now, Nijisanji is slowly fading away, maybe soon it will truly just be a memory. But, one thing I regret, there won't be anyone like me again who had their first vtubing memories through Nijisanji...

Tbh it's kinda sad to see what the AnyColor do to their talents. As an Indonesian and Vtubers enthusiast myself, I'm kinda upset with anything that happened in the past.
As my personal opinion, you shouldn't think about profit once you start a brand new business in the unknown territory as SEA. You should know how the behavior of the audience, try to make connection to local streamers and content creators and wait it flourish. Even though if we look at the corpo pov, we can't completely blame them by doing merge because of the profit etc.
But the real things comes after the merge, it just seems they don't care about it. I vaguely remember one time there's a big ID YTuber come to AnyColor HQ and try to introduce his viewers about VTubers world. But I don't think AnyColor make a following step after that.
Even though I don't want to compare about these 2 corpo, but Cover seems really understand more about the audience. As you know how Kobo got dominate the industry in Indonesia by collab with some of streamers. And how holo ID got the management support. Cover really do "cover" their talents.
After all what they do is a entertainment business, to put corpo profit above the entertainment itself is kinda odd for me. You can see so many streamers often says that you don't have to donate. But the audience feels like they want to support their favorite streamers. Idk if the Niji redemption arc would happen or not. But hope their talents can got a chance to live their lives as a content creator.

As a former niji id fan I was absolutely devastated by the onslaught of graduations that happened and even before that was extremely angry at the lack of support or content they were given, even basic merch was nonexistent that the talents had to fund their own merch. Some of the talents that graduated have debuted and found success in their new identity like michi (formerly mika) which in april became one of the top viewed female twitch streamer of that month, shannon (formerly siska) is now in aka virtual a pretty big vtubing company in indo and is doing pretty well, tenjin (formerly bonnie) is streaming alot more than when he was in niji, wal (formerly taka) did a singing donothon hes not doing alot but his covers are damn amazing. Thats everyone from the top of my head but the point is they couldve done so good if niji just invested and waited abit more but they fumbled and now other companies are capitalizing on that.

Anycolor with their decision to merge NijiID to the main JP branch is what did it. It doesn't make sense considering that all of them can speak EN and not all of them can speak JP and yet they were merged with the JP main branch. It doesnt add up if their intent was to 'grow' the branch. It really was better if they're left on their own and given time to grow. It's actually possible for them to get up again because right after that, Indonesian vtuber was starting to get the attention of wider world community from Kobo's success of reaching 1M.
Unfortunately, Anycolor doesn't believe in long term investment like Cover had for HoloID. Heck Anycolor doesn't even have clear goal for Nijisanji ID at the time after the merger. The livers were pretty much left on their own devices, scrambling to get more views, to try and appeal to the Japanese fans when some of them can barely speak Japanese, no one is guiding them on the how and that must be so stressful. At least the time under Nijisanji ID management, myself as a kinda new viewer could see they have something that unite all ID livers, they kind of have a tangible path and goal like produce more gaming content, educational content, singing content etc and it was relegated among the livers. But after the merger, it's like the only goal they have is to raise their sub numbers but resources and support from the company were limited and restricted. With the successful ones getting more support and the smaller little fish getting little to no support at all. Make it make sense that you want them to raise their sub but you dont help them when it's your fucking job to help them? Yeah, Anycolor really really suck as a vtuber company.
There were some fans thinking back then, it'd be better if theyre merged with EN bcs that makes more sense in terms of language barrier and to some extent, the content they produced and focus on. And sometimes I did think the same but ID was always and is always bringing with them the essence of ID that is different than EN. Any kind of merger is just going to hurt and becoming stressful for all of them.
Anyway Im just rambling and thats why I don't trust Anycolor at all as a vtuber company. Imo all they are doing is take take take take. You will only be given back if youre BIG so pray that youre BIG when under Anycolor/Nijisanji because theyre going to eat you alive.

  • @RedBarbaronGG

They failed because they expand to quickly, doesn't have stable fans to support that many talent. They knew the market hasn't grown yet, and at the highest they have 19 talents, even if the ID management support them will not make them succeed in the eyes of parent company. If they expand slowly like hololive ID, even if the number of fans small, it's proportional.
And niji is so stupid on this regard. They knows so much problem will occurred when they have so many unmanageable talent, but still in their recent financial reports, they will increasing the number of talent by 10-15%. Like wtf, the most profitable generation for them is the first gen, and they still think by debuting new people will make money.

Ok I got baited for the title and the thumbnail, but yeah your explanation is kind of valid, but I disagree how the title of this video is about failure of 'Nijisanji ID', instead, it's about the Anycolor themselves. They're the legend, not the failures. You can mock the company (cause we're the ID fans too, even the ID livers) but not the livers.
Still, I hope you didn't make this video just for as an excuse to compare them to holo (thank you for the disclaimer intro btw), cause I can see some haters using this as an excuse to mock the ID talents even if they did nothing wrong, all because of the video title and thumbnail. The remaining ID livers are still there because they have their own reasons, and the fans respected them for it. I hate it when people give them hate comments just because they existed (i.e. forcing them to graduate) just because their company is actually a sh*t one.
