The two even had that convo during the New Years Stream - If she hadn't joined Vshojo, she was going to go solo as an Indie. It would have taken forever for people to find her that way. Her debuting as Matara via Vshojo just sped up the process massively. She would have had to do what Mint was thinking about - work in retail and barely make ends meet and do that for a long while while rebuilding her community as one of the largest NijiEN VTubers

What got me to stick around for Nina was that when I first found her i was also just getting introduced to new step mother and swear they sound exactly alike. It was strange but the vibes i get from both of them were so similar in a good way.
Good video but I disagree on one point: She was definitely abused, when Matara talked about how good vshojos management was she straight up sounded like an abuse victim, so did Michi, combine that with what we know about Dokibirds horrible trials I think it's beyond reasonable doubt that nijisanji is an abusive work environment.
I still remember when the bug debut was first teased, so many people thought it was juniper actias. So happy the two bugs are friends because of it now though, that roach reaches into every inch of the vtuber space

This really speaks to the environment of Nijisanji too. She Just wanted to be friends with everyone and include everyone and have fun, and people got mad at her for it. Now she's pretty much doing the exact same thing in Vshojo and with all the indies, and everyone loves her.
Going way back to her Monkeyism days, it's important to remember that she was originally a politically active facecam streamer who thrived on confrontation. She stated in one of her videos that she'd didn't like being that person, which is why she auditioned to join Nijisanji. Too bad the internal abuse ruined that dream for her, but the experience did change her as a person. I think it pushed her to be much closer to the person she wanted to be. VShojo has from all appearances been the place that really completes her journey. She gets do the content she wants at the pace she wants, and she has high enough expectations for herself that her content remains good.
imo its kinda funny, that Nina was one of the first vtubers that YT spoiled a PL with, and i explored a bit more. Funny enough, it didnt put me off her, she had her opinions and thats fine, but you saw she wanted to change in some aspects. Not only did those few small Monkeyism clips help me understand her just a little, and actually make me view Vtubers, still in EN infancy, in a whole other light. Made me understand, they are even more than just a person in a camera, they are a streamer that works hard and is Real but that this Job can allow them freedom to change unlike other content creator avenues at the time.
Most of that would depend on Doki taking the first step. Despite being one of the most popular female VTubers out there, she's still very introverted and rarely reaches out to other people that are not already in her circle of friends, even though some of them (like Sayu) have said they wouldn't mind collabing with her. Heck, if Mint hadn't reached out to her, those two would probably still not have reunited by now.
I used to think that nina suited her model a lot but nowadays after a year i realised that her lively expressions with the matara rigging feels so much more real. Also I genuinely didnt know that people hated nina I thought everyone loved her guess i live under a rock
While I'm not an oshi man, Nina was always one of my favorite Vtubers in not only Niji, but also in general, and I was devastated when she graduated; I think I watched nearly 10 hours of her graduation stream (something I've never done before). That being said, I also can't deny how much more lively and relaxed Matara has been since joining Vshojo. Whether fox or roach, I will always adore her and wish her the best in life and all her future endeavors.
Nina was one of my Niji EN oshis, second being Yugo. The only reason I don't love Matara quite as much is because... roaches unnerve me. And she twitches. But I love my bug mom and happy she's doing good.
it's a completely random reasons but fair Example: if you almost drown in a beach as kids, all fish/ocean themed vtuber will trigger some sort of trauma. Nobody at fault here, it's just unfortunate coincidence of theme, lucky for us there's broad choice of talented vtuber outside to choose from

This is just my feeling but I feel that Mata was kind of the link between people in Niji (which connects with the "heart" idea) given her outgoing personality and her leaving may have helped somewhat in the deterioration of internal relationships between livers that maybe didnt interact that much. Now in Vshojo she seems to be somewhat in the same position but in a much free and positive environment enhancing her natural extrovert gifts and Im very happy for her
Since Nina's graduation, Niji En Ethyria become heartless. Petra is filling the empty space with project Zuttomo with mixed results. I believe Matara will be succesfull in her new workplace.
The reaosn why Fox Mom (Nina) was hated because some of her jokes were taken WAY too seriously for many people. She quit Nijisanji because of a multitude of factors going on. Mainly Impostor Syndrome, and her working conditions. By the time she got into VShojo as Roach Mom (Matara), the hate suddenly died down, and now she has more support than ever before.
While I doesn't follow her content, I heard alot of good things about her. I just glad to hear she found a place in Vshojo. In Vtuber news a positive story is kinda a rare thing.
Matara brought me maid mint, learned to love both of them through the summer podcast, so i can't help but appreciate her and the way they bounce off each other gives me that cute feeling.
When ever the HoloMoms would hop on and they'd be so nice and sweet, that's what would happen when tuning into her streams from time to time for me. I can't believe she was seen as problematic.

Nina/Mata was the firs Vtuber I watched, I belive it was her Darkest Dungeon playthrough. I was legit bummed when not long after she's graduated. Her last stream made me fucking sad, but goddamn I'm happy she's got back up and now in a nice, warm and fuzzy company, she'll need it after losing her tails.

It’s so stupid how chronically online some vtuber fans are, where they take 1 or 2 things someone says and says that’s their entire personality. It’s similar to how zaion got so much hate when she was terminated, I’ve always had a mindset to just be neutral about things I don’t really know about personally. I don’t think some people understand that. 😅
To me, vshojo seems like the place where the talent is regarded as the reason the company is successful, whereas in most corps, management sees themselves as the reason, and the talent is replaceable. The impact of their addition or departure on revenue is seen as negligible.
Nina deserved better. Or rather, Nina deserved to have a space that would facilitate her, not hold her back. I'm so glad for Matara being in a better place, mentally, financially, or otherwise. Idk if I'll ever imagine her as something other than my fox mom, though....
She is just an inspiration to create and do what you absolutely love in live, being creative work, being that "It Took Me 14 Years to be an Overnight Success”, i may never have watched fox mom but im glad that i can safely say that i love roach mom the most resilient vtuber!

I discovered Nina very late into her time at Niji, I first got introduced to her at her cooking collab at Giri's place, so I'm realy glad that she found a new place where she truly can be who she wants to be, even if she didn't turn into a butterfly but a cockroach tho ^^; [EDIT] I went through the comments and found names and, I used to follow her pre-Nina accounts aswell? WTF? I'm realy not as observant as I thought I am huh...
She wonderful. Hearing her interact makes me put my self out there conversationally, therefore effectively changing a life for the better. Thats important and it matters.
Man where do i start? Nina debuted in a time that was new to me. I came to understand the Idol/Vtuber industry with Myth and the very soon after Graduation of Coco, which was something weird but different and actually generated feelings of loss, even though i didnt know her too well. Then came Sana and it was a whole new light for me being able to enjoy streamers and streams as an avenue of entertainment, and yet sadly the one who cemented that-Left. I did what she wanted and supported those still left and brought joy to me and whatever i could do in support for their activites-then Nina came. WOW, somebody comfy, so real and direct. Someone who knew what they were and wanted and made such a direct impact on my viewing habits. If Myth started me on the Path, and Council provided the Foundation, then Nina was the Guiderails of navigation of why i watch VTubers today and caused an abundance of knowledge i didnt expect, but greatly enjoyed. Her's was the first Fan Discord i Joined after figuring out how Discord worked, and was excited to tune in while driving from customer to customer because it was a nice environment. When she left i was genuinely sad, but unlike Sana before her, it wasnt a happy sad, it was empty. But i will never forget, during my vacation in Japan, 13hrs ahead of my usual timezone, on a random train-Matara gave me happy tears. While i cant support her like i used to or sometimes want to, I am so glad she still has a strong community-even stronger than before, that can support her and finally a place where she can be who she wants to be.
Nijisisters are truly insufferable. It's bad enough that Niji is a shit company that allows internal bullying, but it gets even worse when you throw in the absolutely delusional Nijisisters that'll just hate on you for no fucking reason. I love Mata. She's such a kind woman who, unlike Millie or Enna, didnt want to compete with her genmates/kouhai. Mata wanted everyone to stand in the spotlight, sadly that was impossible within Kurosanji. Now within Vshojo she is helping Michi and co. in Vshojo to get footing again, showing how differend it is then in Kurosanji, same for indies like Minto, who got messed up by Kurosanji who told her that Minto would never make it without Kurosanji. I'm so mad at Kurosanji for doing that to their own employees.
It's funny you included a clip of her Monster Girl Tierlist. She actually streamed that after she had decided to graduate, but before it was announced. In retrospect, she was clearly work-shopping new character ideas. There's a lot that went on at Nijisanji that we probably won't ever know about. It's probably not healthy to speculate *too* much, but we know some of it was pretty bad. Nina was a successful creator before joining Nijisanji, and a conspicuously confident person. The woman who walked out was not the woman who walked in. After first joining VShojo she was super cagey. She was super worried about saying the wrong thing or that fans would turn on her. She talked about how she was worried for the safety of Nina cosplayers, which is horrifying enough, but double-sucks because Nina was one of the best VTuber designs ever. The conversations she had with ironmouse on New Year's was also telling. Mouse has been part of her support network since before she graduated from Nijisanji. Things were not OK over there. Thank God she's in a better situation now. She's among friends, she has a support network, and supportive management. It doesn't hurt that she's making *a lot* more money.
I am so glad we are now at an era where Older Women are very much appreciated and it is not for "MILF" Reasons. I don't really watch Nijisanji in the past but I know damn well [Nina Kosaka]/[Matara Kan] is a treasure, regardless of their current form.

Matara has really come far and I'm glad we have her. She is just leagues more mature (when it comes to relationships) than some other Vtubers and I think that really is something that is missing in all lot of Vtubers out there. We need more Matara Kans in the Vtuber space.
As someone who didn't instantly like Nina early on, she ended up becoming one of my favorites to watch towards the end of her Niji stint and still one I enjoy now as Matara. The only issue is I rarely venture to Twitch anymore soooo... yeah. Sad. But I don't understand why people dislike her so passionately...or hate really. It's not like she's unapologetically brash or anything, as she definitely apologizes way too much *cough*Canadian*cough* for being how she is...which I wish she didn't because she shouldn't feel like she has to. When I first saw her as Matara, I got TERA-FORMARS flashbacks, but considering one of my other favorite vtubers is also insect themed - Juniper - it grew on me, and now I love it.

Man, let me just say, Mamaroach is my comfort stream, whenever I need to chill and calm down, I go straight to her, it is that simple, and if she's not on, a video of her does it too.
Nina was actually the reason I got invested in Nijisanji back then. She gave the whole group an unique vibe, more than co-worker or friends, but like a family. She truly deserved the nickname of mom of NijiEN. Some of the best memories with her were during her graduation month as everyone remembered how much she had done for the entire group. In a way her lore as keeper of luck had far reaching consequences as it went downhill faster than you could look as the people who glued the group together slowly left one after another. I will always be grateful to her, as you get a lot more growth by going through bad times and improving. Fly high bug mom I will be watching with a smile ^^
Matara also built a friendship with Laimu, and in essence, she's also tangentially collabing with Vinesauce Vinny. I appreciate that small intersect in my two hobbies.
All I know of Nina is when she graduated but when Matara appears, she immediately became one of my favorites. It really does say a lot about how Niji really underutilized their talents.
I chose the VTuber path and used to struggle to make content following community standard. Like, because VTuber is seen as Entertainment for most people, I used to get stuck when I'm making a content with depressing topics. But, nvm, I'm going through it now. Just portray a depressing image all the way is easier than trying to make a bright story. And survivorship bias doesn't tell a story about those who severely wounded but still lives on, or those who rise up from under the earth. We're struggling, but we're not fallen, that's what I say in place of other small VTubers who are not straight chat reading bots.

This really speaks to the environment of Nijisanji too. She Just wanted to be friends with everyone and include everyone and have fun, and people got mad at her for it. Now she's pretty much doing the exact same thing in Vshojo and with all the indies, and everyone loves her.

Going way back to her Monkeyism days, it's important to remember that she was originally a politically active facecam streamer who thrived on confrontation. She stated in one of her videos that she'd didn't like being that person, which is why she auditioned to join Nijisanji. Too bad the internal abuse ruined that dream for her, but the experience did change her as a person. I think it pushed her to be much closer to the person she wanted to be. VShojo has from all appearances been the place that really completes her journey. She gets do the content she wants at the pace she wants, and she has high enough expectations for herself that her content remains good.
I never watcher as Monkeyism. I just know her as Fox Mom/Roach Mom
imo its kinda funny, that Nina was one of the first vtubers that YT spoiled a PL with, and i explored a bit more. Funny enough, it didnt put me off her, she had her opinions and thats fine, but you saw she wanted to change in some aspects. Not only did those few small Monkeyism clips help me understand her just a little, and actually make me view Vtubers, still in EN infancy, in a whole other light. Made me understand, they are even more than just a person in a camera, they are a streamer that works hard and is Real but that this Job can allow them freedom to change unlike other content creator avenues at the time.

Most of that would depend on Doki taking the first step. Despite being one of the most popular female VTubers out there, she's still very introverted and rarely reaches out to other people that are not already in her circle of friends, even though some of them (like Sayu) have said they wouldn't mind collabing with her. Heck, if Mint hadn't reached out to her, those two would probably still not have reunited by now.
I used to think that nina suited her model a lot but nowadays after a year i realised that her lively expressions with the matara rigging feels so much more real. Also I genuinely didnt know that people hated nina I thought everyone loved her guess i live under a rock
While I'm not an oshi man, Nina was always one of my favorite Vtubers in not only Niji, but also in general, and I was devastated when she graduated; I think I watched nearly 10 hours of her graduation stream (something I've never done before). That being said, I also can't deny how much more lively and relaxed Matara has been since joining Vshojo. Whether fox or roach, I will always adore her and wish her the best in life and all her future endeavors.
Nina was one of my Niji EN oshis, second being Yugo.
The only reason I don't love Matara quite as much is because... roaches unnerve me. And she twitches.

This is just my feeling but I feel that Mata was kind of the link between people in Niji (which connects with the "heart" idea) given her outgoing personality and her leaving may have helped somewhat in the deterioration of internal relationships between livers that maybe didnt interact that much.
Now in Vshojo she seems to be somewhat in the same position but in a much free and positive environment enhancing her natural extrovert gifts and Im very happy for her
Since Nina's graduation, Niji En Ethyria become heartless. Petra is filling the empty space with project Zuttomo with mixed results. I believe Matara will be succesfull in her new workplace.

The reaosn why Fox Mom (Nina) was hated because some of her jokes were taken WAY too seriously for many people. She quit Nijisanji because of a multitude of factors going on. Mainly Impostor Syndrome, and her working conditions. By the time she got into VShojo as Roach Mom (Matara), the hate suddenly died down, and now she has more support than ever before.
She's extroverted and earnestly sincere, two things the more toxic elements of vtuber fandom dislike
While I doesn't follow her content, I heard alot of good things about her. I just glad to hear she found a place in Vshojo. In Vtuber news a positive story is kinda a rare thing.
Somehow I'm tired seeing how dumb nijisanji and niji sister is acting. Glad that now she is where she is, congrats Matara 👍😄

For Context Matara was hanging out with Millie, Enna, Petra, Elira, Vox,Ike,Mint, Kuro, Michi, Kiara, FuwaMocco, Bao,and Onigiri that day that everyone was supposed to go vSohjo JP and Vox and Ike jumped into Elira's car instead of Enna and Millie that morning that Elira's group went MIA for 2 hours (this is from pl twitter messages with Enna worried Elira got into an accident cause Elira,Vov,and Ike weren't answering calls or texts)
After that Black Video, which was a recording, Matara was trying to help Elira get visa not tied to working with Nijisanji (probably with help from Kson and or Hime) but Nijisanji grunts caught wind and the idiots thought Ironmouse was trying to poach Elira 😹

Nina/Mata was the firs Vtuber I watched, I belive it was her Darkest Dungeon playthrough. I was legit bummed when not long after she's graduated. Her last stream made me fucking sad, but goddamn I'm happy she's got back up and now in a nice, warm and fuzzy company, she'll need it after losing her tails.
It’s so crazy how people switched up when she graduated. I remember seeing so much hate against her before and even people would say they were happy she was graduating. It’s so stupid how chronically online some vtuber fans are, where they take 1 or 2 things someone says and says that’s their entire personality. It’s similar to how zaion got so much hate when she was terminated, I’ve always had a mindset to just be neutral about things I don’t really know about personally. I don’t think some people understand that. 😅
To me, vshojo seems like the place where the talent is regarded as the reason the company is successful, whereas in most corps, management sees themselves as the reason, and the talent is replaceable. The impact of their addition or departure on revenue is seen as negligible.

I discovered Nina very late into her time at Niji, I first got introduced to her at her cooking collab at Giri's place, so I'm realy glad that she found a new place where she truly can be who she wants to be, even if she didn't turn into a butterfly but a cockroach tho ^^;

Nina, Pomu, Scarle and Selen were the only reason i watched Niji. Now i don't watch at all (feel bad for Scarle but well..)
She wonderful. Hearing her interact makes me put my self out there conversationally, therefore effectively changing a life for the better. Thats important and it matters.
I never got into Niji but man I love Matara, I'm happy she got to where she is today.
Man where do i start? Nina debuted in a time that was new to me. I came to understand the Idol/Vtuber industry with Myth and the very soon after Graduation of Coco, which was something weird but different and actually generated feelings of loss, even though i didnt know her too well. Then came Sana and it was a whole new light for me being able to enjoy streamers and streams as an avenue of entertainment, and yet sadly the one who cemented that-Left.
I did what she wanted and supported those still left and brought joy to me and whatever i could do in support for their activites-then Nina came. WOW, somebody comfy, so real and direct. Someone who knew what they were and wanted and made such a direct impact on my viewing habits. If Myth started me on the Path, and Council provided the Foundation, then Nina was the Guiderails of navigation of why i watch VTubers today and caused an abundance of knowledge i didnt expect, but greatly enjoyed. Her's was the first Fan Discord i Joined after figuring out how Discord worked, and was excited to tune in while driving from customer to customer because it was a nice environment.
When she left i was genuinely sad, but unlike Sana before her, it wasnt a happy sad, it was empty. But i will never forget, during my vacation in Japan, 13hrs ahead of my usual timezone, on a random train-Matara gave me happy tears. While i cant support her like i used to or sometimes want to, I am so glad she still has a strong community-even stronger than before, that can support her and finally a place where she can be who she wants to be.
Nijisisters are truly insufferable. It's bad enough that Niji is a shit company that allows internal bullying, but it gets even worse when you throw in the absolutely delusional Nijisisters that'll just hate on you for no fucking reason. I'm so glad Nina didn't let them get to her, and even happier that she's thriving even more now!

I love Mata. She's such a kind woman who, unlike Millie or Enna, didnt want to compete with her genmates/kouhai. Mata wanted everyone to stand in the spotlight, sadly that was impossible within Kurosanji.
Now within Vshojo she is helping Michi and co. in Vshojo to get footing again, showing how differend it is then in Kurosanji, same for indies like Minto, who got messed up by Kurosanji who told her that Minto would never make it without Kurosanji.
I'm so mad at Kurosanji for doing that to their own employees.

It's funny you included a clip of her Monster Girl Tierlist. She actually streamed that after she had decided to graduate, but before it was announced. In retrospect, she was clearly work-shopping new character ideas.
There's a lot that went on at Nijisanji that we probably won't ever know about. It's probably not healthy to speculate *too* much, but we know some of it was pretty bad. Nina was a successful creator before joining Nijisanji, and a conspicuously confident person. The woman who walked out was not the woman who walked in. After first joining VShojo she was super cagey. She was super worried about saying the wrong thing or that fans would turn on her. She talked about how she was worried for the safety of Nina cosplayers, which is horrifying enough, but double-sucks because Nina was one of the best VTuber designs ever.
The conversations she had with ironmouse on New Year's was also telling. Mouse has been part of her support network since before she graduated from Nijisanji. Things were not OK over there.
Thank God she's in a better situation now. She's among friends, she has a support network, and supportive management. It doesn't hurt that she's making *a lot* more money.
She makes fun of my boy Bricky all day now, but she's killing it now and she's a beautiful soul, I'm glad she was rescued from the Abyss of Nijisanji.

Matara has really come far and I'm glad we have her. She is just leagues more mature (when it comes to relationships) than some other Vtubers and I think that really is something that is missing in all lot of Vtubers out there. We need more Matara Kans in the Vtuber space.
As someone who didn't instantly like Nina early on, she ended up becoming one of my favorites to watch towards the end of her Niji stint and still one I enjoy now as Matara. The only issue is I rarely venture to Twitch anymore soooo... yeah. Sad. But I don't understand why people dislike her so passionately...or hate really. It's not like she's unapologetically brash or anything, as she definitely apologizes way too much *cough*Canadian*cough* for being how she is...which I wish she didn't because she shouldn't feel like she has to.
She may be younger than me by 2 years or so, but the age similarity really made me relate to her a lot more than many of the younger talents out there. Similar music and games growing up, and so there was that familiarity. While I understand the "Mom" vibes because of the caring and warmth she brings, I just can't ever call her "Mom" because she's younger than I am. If I call any woman other than my own mother "Mom" it'll have to be the mother of my kids. I'm just saying.

Man, let me just say, Mamaroach is my comfort stream, whenever I need to chill and calm down, I go straight to her, it is that simple, and if she's not on, a video of her does it too.
Nina was actually the reason I got invested in Nijisanji back then. She gave the whole group an unique vibe, more than co-worker or friends, but like a family.
She truly deserved the nickname of mom of NijiEN. Some of the best memories with her were during her graduation month as everyone remembered how much she had done for the entire group.
In a way her lore as keeper of luck had far reaching consequences as it went downhill faster than you could look as the people who glued the group together slowly left one after another.
I will always be grateful to her, as you get a lot more growth by going through bad times and improving. Fly high bug mom I will be watching with a smile ^^

All I know of Nina is when she graduated but when Matara appears, she immediately became one of my favorites. It really does say a lot about how Niji really underutilized their talents.
I chose the VTuber path and used to struggle to make content following community standard. Like, because VTuber is seen as Entertainment for most people, I used to get stuck when I'm making a content with depressing topics. But, nvm, I'm going through it now. Just portray a depressing image all the way is easier than trying to make a bright story.
And survivorship bias doesn't tell a story about those who severely wounded but still lives on, or those who rise up from under the earth. We're struggling, but we're not fallen, that's what I say in place of other small VTubers who are not straight chat reading bots.
