💯 I could only imagine the supercharged GTP with a manual and RWD throughout the 90s. Better yet, imagine the Fiero with the Turbo Buick (LC2) engines. GM always makes piss poor decisions.

I'll just go one step further and also swap the front end and the dashboard from the 04 gto.
They were slated to be rear drive from the factory, but GM obviously decided against it due to the GTO and then later the G8. Looking under the W body, you can see the rear was infact designed for a rear axle.

It all depends on what you are looking to get out of the car. The number one reason I didn't go with a ladder frame design is because I wanted the car to sit properly and not look like a monster truck like most do when they throw a unibody onto a frame. Now, of course you could always fabricate the frame up into the body of the car, but I find it much easier to just reinforce and build off of what is already there.
@@AutoTechTyler fair enough, especially considering the amount of work it takes to cut a body down to fit it onto a ladder frame. Would I use a subframe from another vehicle to fit the horizontal facing engine or create different mounts and structural supports to weld onto the original frame?

Would I use a subframe from another vehicle to fit the horizontal facing engine or create different mounts and structural supports to weld onto the original frame?
Either way works fine. I personally liked using the k member from an F body because it gave me a good "square" piece to work off of if that makes sense.
@@AutoTechTyler f body like a firebird?
@@AutoTechTyler would you be willing to share any diagrams or blueprints by chance? I'd really appreciate it it would help me get started
“Noisy with the new exhaust though” meanwhile there’s absolutely no floor pan lol
I'd take this over an exotic super car any day!
For the speedo check your rear abs I’ve had that issues once but on a different make
I found your instagram after looking up 3.8 Miata. Did it ever work out? Did you get a rear sump pan or cut the subframe?
I unfortunately had to sell that car before I moved to North Carolina. All I did on that car to make the oil pan work is notch the 3800 pant to clear the subframe. It wasn't bad to do at all. That was a fun little car.
Great idea but it's been eight months how's the front end those tie rods holding up ?
It's sitting right out here in the parking lot at work from when I drove it here this morning. Zero issues with the front tie rod configuration and a few things have changed with the car since this video. Keep an eye out for an update in the next week or so!
I own a Grand Prix super charged I love the car so much
Sounds like a monster 👹
She's a beast man! Can't wait to get a cam in her eventually
I want to do a rear wheel conversion with a ls3 in my 06 g6 gt. I love the body sleekness. I’m starting a good job to buy everything . Think I can get it done?
Of course you can do it! Anything is possible. It'll be a lot of work and definitely isn't for the faint of heart, but if you are determined enough and stay dedicated to the project, you'll definitely be able to make it happen! What you're talking about should be a pretty cool car when it's all said and done.
@@AutoTechTyler thanks man I love ur videos
YOU'RE A 🤬 BEAST BRO! 🤘
Thank you man 🫡🫡🫡
This is the definition of going too fast before it starts to sound good
Where did u get the steering wheel hub? What brand name etc....? Have an 06 GXP n wanna change my wheel
I wanna see how you got the engine and the rear end in there that's the only thing I dont fully understand before I go to attempt doing that with mine
You'll have to check out my tear down videos when I go to take the car completely apart and finalize/paint some things. You'll be able to see everything pretty well when I do that. Sorry for the delayed response.
what transmission do you have and how much did you send on making this grand Prix rear wheel drive?!?!
