  • The penultimate stride is a very under appreciated element to the two foot jump. It helps to set the body up for take off as well as aids in transitioning speed. Depending on the efficiency of this stride, an athlete could be bleeding speed and power and not jumping to their full potential.
    Tyler discusses some points of performance and also provides some drills to optimize this stride!

    hey do you know any exercises to lengthen our prenultimate ??? my penultimate is very short and its hard for me to lenghten as it makes me feel uncomfortable

    • @jumpguyty
      @jumpguyty  4 года назад +7

      Tiktoklada lengthening your penultimate properly is a combination of strength (to support the new position) and patterning an aggressive and deliberate push. This isn’t a short term change, it takes time to re-pattern properly. Use our PUSH-PUNCH drill to start! Video is on our channel!

      Most right handed people go right left. Left handed people go left right. Try it and see if the norm is comfortable for you.

    Would you want to gallop in sand or push for the penultimate step? Does anyone know for sure?

  • @caljerm

    If you are primarily a better one foot jumper, and jump best off your left foot - which foot would likely be best to use in the penultimate step for a two foot jump?

    • @elilewis424
      @elilewis424 3 года назад

      for volleyball, u need the 2 foot to change direction although 1 foot may help it doesnt help as much in going striaght up. for basketball its all preference

      A good track coach that specializes in training jumpers. From my experience many strength coaches do not spend proper time on movement mechanics.
