    Hm. Lindsay Adler uses a grid on a beauty dish quite a lot, especially to keep spill off the backdrop.

      Lindsay shoots some good stuff but that wouldn't be my choice for using a beauty dish.

    Lindsay Adler would say a lot of things about your opinion on the grid but I'm just a new photographer and I'm Learning from you both....😂😂😂. Let's go.

    No other photographers talk about the physical effects of light as much as you do! Great job! I have a question, if you’re in a smaller studio would it work efficiently having it closer to subject?

    That was the most technical and helpful video about beauty dishes I have seen. Thanks, Karl🙏

    The purpose of the honeycomb grid is to stop the sideways splash refecting off the walls of a small studio - not a problem in a large studio like yours.

    Curious, would you use the beauty dish to shoot a business portrait ?

    • @VisualEducationStudio
      @VisualEducationStudio  6 месяцев назад

      It would depend on the subject, age, look etc but yes it would be possible with the correct candidates, if you're using it in conjunction with a tri-reflector below then it can still be flattering on 'normal' people.

    would you ever use the "beauty dish" for something other than portraits? say, products ?

    • @VisualEducationStudio
      @VisualEducationStudio  9 месяцев назад

      Hi, no never as you'd end up with a horrible looking ring of light reflecting off the gloss surface of your products. You're much better with gradient lighting on gloss products or if they are matt products a normal softbox would be better suited. You can learn everything you need to know about product lighting here: visualeducation.com/product-photography-courses/

    Best photographers use beauty dish, face of model instantly looks more dramatic and vivid.

    I got a similar 70cm dish from a Purpleport forum about 4 years back for £35 U.K (including the metal grid). It's enormously heavy and the grip heads of my cheap C-stand had the be super tight to boom out all that weight & angle it down. I recently upgraded my c-stand to Manfrotto Avenger with a grip arm (where there is a fixed grip head on one end.) This setup make it much easier to do.

    Would you prefer white or silver beauty dish for corporate headshots? and why

    Hello! What if the beauty dish is smaller? 41cm
    Does it looks good too?

    I've had a Para- loved it for models/fashion but there is nothing better than a Profoto (or other good brand) Beauty Dish for a Portrait.
