    how on earth is Alstott not mentioned ONCE!? The man dominated with a neckroll - scratch that, the man had an entire BACK NECK BRACE! Either way, put some respect on his name, he pounded out the yards with that thing on.

    Eric Dickerson seriously looked like a big machine, and that neck-roll was a cog

    Every high school linebacker in the 90’s and early 2000’s had to have the giant cantilevered shoulder pads and cowboy collar with the jersey pulled over it. And the true animals had the full “billy goat” facemask

    When I hear "neck roll" I always picture Mike Alstott. His neck roll went to the top of his head in the back 😂😂

    Maybe the neck roll is a missing component of concussion defense. They played with shitty helmets but that shock absorption from the roll had have an effect. With modern helmets and pads, a modern neck roll might just be that missing piece.

      Yes, i agree 100%. I needed one when i played buti was a S.S. on defense. But the game is played differently now.

    back when football was physical and players played with real passion

  • @jacksonwilliams1835
    @jacksonwilliams1835 Год назад +3

    Players now don’t need it because they don’t have good tackling form. Plus with the changes in rules they basically made a good football hit/play illegal in todays game. With that being said today’s football is soft. Back in the day they had every pad they could get because they really got after it. The nfl is full of horrendous defensive and just overrated players. They need to bring real football back where you put your body on the line to win and it’s the price you pay to play the game. We don’t need more flags for “defenseless” player we need more hits.

    • @crx122
      @crx122 Год назад +2

      They changed the rules because an alarmingly amount of NFL players have horrible brain injuries from repeated concussions. Football careers are short in the whole scope of life; you want guys to have a decent quality of life once they hang it up. You can argue that they have taken it too far before with the flags (and I'd agree with it,) but intentionally targeting the head of guys is something that doesn't belong in the game. Are you advocating that intentionally targeting people in their head to cause concussions is something you want in the game?

    This was the worst piece of TV I've seen in a while. What was it for? What was it supposed to do? What was the science behind it? Why did guys wear it in the first place? Biggest piece of fluff I've ever seen
