I opened these two during a release draft in foil :D We actually had a flying 2560/2560 Okaun at one point and it might have even gotten bigger .... sadly Zndrsplt decked me before we actually lost a flip on that turn. Best way to lose a game.
I had a 12288/12288 okaun. But dude. Lab maniac. ALL my wins (7-8 so far) besides one that consisted in okaun unblockable finishing people off were either lab maniac or even more often... FLING.
Playtested alot with this Deck now, it is super powerful and strong.. I dont know Why all people think of weird stuff so much.. all you need is to win THREE flips in a single turn and you have a 24/24 commander to kill someone for Commander damage.. more often then not it is enough to have zndrsplit and okaun and Krark's thump (which you can search out with cards like fabricate or bring back with reconstruction).. or just get lucky once! or have ONE other coin flip in you favor during the turn.. then you have cards like whispersilk cloak, artful dodge or slip through space, and Boom, one player down.. actually it is so explosive that it is almost bad for the game as it just kicks players out of the game without a warning.. I had one player out on turn 5 regularly, or even 2 players at once with an extra battlephase.. it is easly disrubted by killing okaun yes, but if you untap with him, you probably kill at least one guy
DJ: You and I both squealed out the same happy sigh when you mentioned giving control of your commanders to your opponents then activating the efreet. Made me laugh so hard. I want to build this deck so bad it's crazy.
@18:49, I agree. I am making mine about more combat steps, and using okaun like a voltron and zndrsplt as the draw engine, Mixing it with control as well and dont forget about the goodstuff creatures.
I got a budget coin flip deck from my friend back in December, and I've been thinking of ways to upgrade it. This video and comments section have given me some neat ideas to consider.
I made this deck for a little over 20 dollars without Kraks thumb, Ral Zarek, Chance Encounter, or really any cards over 5 dollars, and it looks like a lot of fun still.
with frenetic sliver you can still flip again in response to the creature either being sacrificed or exiled. so say you win the flip that puts and effect on the stack to exile your sliver then you just activate again in response.
You can activate it any number of times. But you can only flip one coin per sliver. That's where the text, "If this permanent is on the battlefield, flip a coin" comes into play. Once you've either won or lost the first coin toss, the sliver will no longer be on the battlefield so there will not be another flip.
Harmless offering Zndrsplt... Delicious. another delicious idea? sending master of cruelties under destined//*lead* to battle with combat celebrant and another creature, exerting combat celebrant, and attacking again. that would be an instant win scenario at most cases.
i was surprised that 'chandra's ignition' wasn't mentioned at all. It looks like an auto-include, buff up Okaun to some crazy-high power, cast the ignition and just win by dealing about 1K damage to the entire table!
LOL That Creepy Doll has Craptouch! Cool deck Jumbo. I really love the written text, example: ''...choose a player...'', ''...whenever you put a counter...''; player can be you and counter can be +/-'s in this Battlebond set, it allows a lot of flexibility:P
Warp world does actually work pretty well with your strategy, since you are running tokens. However, eye of the storm doesn't work with the pacts, because it says for each card you may play it.
I would extend to unset. I made a buzzbark deck around coinflips and die rolls but had to use unset cards. Problem is that not everyone is ok with unset
My first edh deck was a izzet chaos build and it was definitely hard to play, got hated out, and was super unreliable. Sadly I got rid of it. Then these two came out and I revamped it and it’s amazing. Personally I run lab man for an instant win and I also run quite a few wheels to find the pieces I need and disrupt my opponents plan. Then cards like locus god and psychosis crawler to punish my opponents for my draw. But by far my most favorite thing to do is win an absurd number of flips then Chandra’s ignition for 786,432 damage(actual). It’s so satisfying.
The one thing people in my meta (including myself) don't like is turns that take too long. Coin flipping every turn seems fun in the beginning, but eventually it just interferes with the game. Combined with extra turn effects, I would recommend against too much coin flipping if you want to keep the game fun for everyone at the table.
I bought a 6 pack walmart draft pack and pulled a foil pair of these guys. Now to splurge on the newly expensive cards that spiked because of these legends
Benjamin Lehman RIGHT? Ive won half my games flinging okaun to peoples faces, and copying it for the other oponents. Even had isochron scepter with fling imprinted once.
Ral Zarek's ability says "for each coin that comes up heads" not winning the flip, so it doesn't work in that regard. However since the thumb is included you can't not include him
I've already got this deck built and really all I need is the efreet but I definitely need a Harmless Offering. Also i have to point out, you definitely will be targeted the second you have Krarks thumb out. I was almost hated out of a game but I recovered and won simply because I was drawing cards and used Master the Way to kill my opponent.
If you have both out do you get two at the beginning of combat triggers? So you can flip a shit tone for one trigger get both to go off then do it again?
Ral Zarek suffers from the same problem as the giant no? It doesn't refer to winning the flip in the ultimate but rather "...each coins that comes up heads" which wouldn't trigger Zndrsplt/Okaun sadly.
Aggravated Assault would be a good add. Gives you extra mains and extra combats, in enchantment form, for 5 mana pop. I use it in my Etali EDH deck so he can have extra triggers. Wins games man.
question regarding their triggered ability "At the beginning of your combat step, fip a con until you lose a flip." Does each of them get their own separate trigger? Like I can flip for Zndrsplt then once I lose after say 3 flips. I move to Okauns trigger and flip and lose after flip 2? and if so, that mean Okaun's power has doubled 5 times?
Am I crazy or is Frenetic Efreet completely broken in this deck? A basically unstoppable effect that draws most of your deck just for having one commander out? Isn't that complete bs?
would the frenetic efreet / chance encounter combo work? Chance encounter reads when you win a coin flip and the efreet reads that your opponent calls the heads or tails. It's weirdly worded on the efreet.
Karplusan Minotaur with a Basilisk Collar/ Loxodon Warhammer and Curator's Ward ? They can never target it and even when you lose a flip and they target you the damage just gets cancelled out
One thing: that planeswalker doesnt work with the commanders. On another note: my deck has, besides just the best coin flipping cards, the following: 17 mana rocks, 6 extra turn cards and some spell copying stuff. Plus thought vessel, spellbook and etc. My two main wincons, at least those that won many times already (this deck is super strong and wins often) are: lab maniac and FLING. Sacrificing okaun when it's 12288/12288 and copying it for each opponent, dealing that much dmg to their face is... Super satisfying. :)
I even won a 1v1 situation in which my opponent attacked me with A LOT of creatures and I had that card that prevented or doubled damage... He flipped a ton of coins, okaun got huge, I flinged it to his face before combat damage was assigned and won hahaha
Wait, couldn't you put Okaun in an Assault Suit and have it go around the table? If you have your Zndrsplt out you'll get to draw cards while everyone is smacking people around with your Okaun. Also, you can donate your Zndrsplt before decking them with frenetic efreet. Just some random thoughts.
Okaun is just broken as a commander. I have an okaun/zndrsplt deck and I almost feel bad for playing it. I win 4/5 of my games when I don't I'm the last one. Somebody ALWAYS gets salty, nobody likes losing fast and this deck does that. Almost every turn I have with okaun out somebody is getting knocked out. As bad as I feel for playing this it's by far the most fun to pilot, and by far my favourite deck.
It would normally be exiled, but you can choose the command zone replacement effect instead, thereby putting it in your command zone. www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-rulings/754600-rule-800-4a-player-leaves-game-control-effects
"If you activate Frenetic Efreet 1000 times, you WILL deck yourself." Obviously you are unaware of the kind of luck that I have. Pretty sure even with 10 Zndrsplt's on my board, my deck would be just fine.
I'd include some "extra combat step" cards in the deck too since the partners trigger at the beginning of each combat.
I agree and might as well throw in kiki jikki and helm of the host too
Your a genius
I opened these two during a release draft in foil :D
We actually had a flying 2560/2560 Okaun at one point and it might have even gotten bigger .... sadly Zndrsplt decked me before we actually lost a flip on that turn.
Best way to lose a game.
sertaki Your record said Loss but your heart said Win
Vigilanchovy I lost to a 160/160 Okaun or something like that. But it was game 2 so we already had the win ( Best of 1 op )
I had a 12288/12288 okaun. But dude. Lab maniac. ALL my wins (7-8 so far) besides one that consisted in okaun unblockable finishing people off were either lab maniac or even more often... FLING.
Seeing the price gouging on coinflip cards after these two got released reminds me why I hate MtG "investors."
Wait, so this means Ral Zarek's ultimate doesn't help the duo?
correct
But krarks thumb helps him.
Mirror march just changed the game. Flip coin creatures that were fairly bad are now useful.
Whenever I play this deck, I always feel like it's a coin flip whether I win or lose.
Fox that pun makes me wanna flip you off
Ayden Sauvageau why are you flipping out
It's ok, I knew this was a possible coin-sequence.
Fox t
Same! what a coin-cedence!
I like the way you can take advantage of the chaos cards, I didn’t think those cards can be abused that way:)
Playtested alot with this Deck now, it is super powerful and strong..
I dont know Why all people think of weird stuff so much..

2 years later, and we have another toolpiece in Krark the Thumbless
@18:49, I agree. I am making mine about more combat steps, and using okaun like a voltron and zndrsplt as the draw engine, Mixing it with control as well and dont forget about the goodstuff creatures.
This deck looks epic and very fun to play with! And the Frenetic Efreet combo is crazy. As usual, very good deck tech!
Good explanations at the begining of what works or doesn't work !
Nice vid as always
My work here is done. Good game ;)
For the chaos players out there, thieves auction + brand is a wincon
You should chunk in as much tutoring for Krark's thumb as possible probably.
Good thing we're in blue! 🤗
@@goodnamesweretakenkt also copy artifact effects like mirror made or metamorphic for extra redundscy, and recursion like goblin artificer
@@ripred42 Were in the perfect colors to tutor, copy and pull them from the yard. It's great lol
Thank you I love this list by far my favorite list you have made. Keep up the awesomeness
Eye of the storm is a "may" the player casting said instant or sorcery can choose not to cast the pact cards.
I gotta admit Jumbo, when I saw these guys spoiled I was more excited for your video than I was about the deck itself.
Be careful with Ral Zarek, he doesn't say "win flips" he says "for each coin that comes up heads"
I got a budget coin flip deck from my friend back in December, and I've been thinking of ways to upgrade it. This video and comments section have given me some neat ideas to consider.
I've watched this deck tech numerous times. I need to just make this deck already! 😆
I made this deck for a little over 20 dollars without Kraks thumb, Ral Zarek, Chance Encounter, or really any cards over 5 dollars, and it looks like a lot of fun still.
Could you share your list? :D
with frenetic sliver you can still flip again in response to the creature either being sacrificed or exiled. so say you win the flip that puts and effect on the stack to exile your sliver then you just activate again in response.

Ral zarek doesn't specify winning or losing sadly.
With enough turns without response, you cannot lose
If you have krarks thumb out usually you will win the game.
Harmless offering Zndrsplt... Delicious. another delicious idea? sending master of cruelties under destined//*lead* to battle with combat celebrant and another creature, exerting combat celebrant, and attacking again. that would be an instant win scenario at most cases.
I would also suggests helm of the host for the deck, getting extra copies of either of these two would be awesome.
Super interesting deck! definitely thinking about building this one.
i was surprised that 'chandra's ignition' wasn't mentioned at all.
It looks like an auto-include, buff up Okaun to some crazy-high power, cast the ignition and just win by dealing about 1K damage to the entire table!
yeah thats a great idea. Flip a bunch during combat, dont attack, pass combat, cast Ignition, ??????, profit
LOL That Creepy Doll has Craptouch! Cool deck Jumbo. I really love the written text, example: ''...choose a player...'', ''...whenever you put a counter...''; player can be you and counter can be +/-'s in this Battlebond set, it allows a lot of flexibility:P
Great video as always!
I'm definitely going to build my own variant of this deck. It'll be a fun.... "change" of pace! :)
Warp world does actually work pretty well with your strategy, since you are running tokens. However, eye of the storm doesn't work with the pacts, because it says for each card you may play it.
What a "flipping" good video! :P
I would extend to unset. I made a buzzbark deck around coinflips and die rolls but had to use unset cards. Problem is that not everyone is ok with unset

You made something special with this deck I think.
I wanna see Gorm and Virtus Deck Tech
I'm going to give you a challenge, build a decent deck for Rowan and Will Kenrith.
hmmmmm, maybe. They have not inspired me as of right now.
Please I would love to see it. Maybe as a Izzet Spellslinger or even Janky UR Superfriends)
Oboviusly it would be voltron
They really aren't that compelling, are they? Their abilities do work well together, but they also feel terribly generic.
Who, the lannisters?
I've been waiting for this video for weeks, and it's enough to inspire me to become patreon supporter!
Great to have you as part of the Jumbo Commander family. I'll see you in discord!
Jumbo, Thank you so much:)
The one thing people in my meta (including myself) don't like is turns that take too long. Coin flipping every turn seems fun in the beginning, but eventually it just interferes with the game. Combined with extra turn effects, I would recommend against too much coin flipping if you want to keep the game fun for everyone at the table.
Skullcrusha Yea I second this. Especially the extra turns. If you don't win right away off your extra turns it gets annoying
Already made the deck, now to add more cards, AND CHAOS
I wanna double his power and toughness a couple times then chandras ignition
That would be hilarious!
Ive done that i swung for lethal at one opponent chandras ignition another than thudded another for the win
I bought a 6 pack walmart draft pack and pulled a foil pair of these guys. Now to splurge on the newly expensive cards that spiked because of these legends
I would put in fling to launch okaun at an Opponent when he is like a 48/48.
Benjamin Lehman RIGHT? Ive won half my games flinging okaun to peoples faces, and copying it for the other oponents. Even had isochron scepter with fling imprinted once.
thanks for made this deck.
im happy for encouter a edh player and youtuber who made deck for play fun whit friends
Ral Zarek's ability says "for each coin that comes up heads" not winning the flip, so it doesn't work in that regard. However since the thumb is included you can't not include him

If you have both out do you get two at the beginning of combat triggers? So you can flip a shit tone for one trigger get both to go off then do it again?
@Jumbo Commander, you know what this means. you got to make a deck tech with Syliva Brightspear and Khorvath Brightflame
I built my own version and it's so fun! thanks for the extra insight tho!
Ral Zarek suffers from the same problem as the giant no? It doesn't refer to winning the flip in the ultimate but rather "...each coins that comes up heads" which wouldn't trigger Zndrsplt/Okaun sadly.
My goal for this deck will beck a izzet voltron deck, cause there aren’t many, with a coin flip sub theme. I feel it’ll be fun and not too bad to play
Laboratory Maniac + Frenetic Efreet + Zndrsplt. ;P
Or Okaun + Chandra's Ignition.
Ever played Pit People? Instantly what I was reminded of. Yosef and Uvulor
How about extra combat steps?
Aggravated Assault would be a good add. Gives you extra mains and extra combats, in enchantment form, for 5 mana pop. I use it in my Etali EDH deck so he can have extra triggers. Wins games man.
I demand an humunculan pronunciation guide
I demand a Fblthp!
question regarding their triggered ability "At the beginning of your combat step, fip a con until you lose a flip." Does each of them get their own separate trigger? Like I can flip for Zndrsplt then once I lose after say 3 flips. I move to Okauns trigger and flip and lose after flip 2? and if so, that mean Okaun's power has doubled 5 times?
yes
Did anyone notice that one the homunculi in 16:52 has a pupil like Baymax's eyes?
Am I crazy or is Frenetic Efreet completely broken in this deck? A basically unstoppable effect that draws most of your deck just for having one commander out? Isn't that complete bs?
would the frenetic efreet / chance encounter combo work? Chance encounter reads when you win a coin flip and the efreet reads that your opponent calls the heads or tails. It's weirdly worded on the efreet.
It is weird. The person flipping the coin is the one that wins and loses, no other player.
So... because these 2 cards (the commanders in question) go together, you can use either or as the commander and still use both colors in the deck?
darksteelforge+wirefly hive= love
Price of Progress + War's Toll. It's some dirty protection
You should do a Jalira, Master Polymorpist deck tech
My brain hurts after watching this video
How can you not pronounce okaun but zndrsplt is perfectly okay
That's what I was thinking
You made me want to make one of my own
Karplusan Minotaur with a Basilisk Collar/
Loxodon Warhammer and Curator's Ward ? They can never target it and even when you lose a flip and they target you the damage just gets cancelled out
One thing: that planeswalker doesnt work with the commanders.

I played this two cards during the prerelease its fun. Should both cards be on the command zone?
yeah as partners
mog Assassin is neat and Goblin kaboomist or chaotic goo are not bad either
Am i a bad person for playing possibility storm in narset?
Playing narset makes you a bad person anyways
Liked based on your pronunciations of Okaun alone.
7:02 You don’t win or lose with ral zarek, you get a turn for every heads.
And on every extra turn you get to flip coins
nice deck but theres one card that came out after the making of this video and that is mirror march its a lot of mana but a great coinflip
Krenko, Mob Boss and Goblin Assassin
Eye of the storm is a may so your opponent doesn't have to cast the pacts
Unfortunately you didn't talk a lot about playing around Okauns effect...
Thanks for making this, tgese guys are adorable af and one day I will make these work :)
Is this the real two headed giant?
Add Goblin Bookie
Dang, spiffy new logo.
Or at the very least, I've just noticed haha.
Flipping Good! :D
i want them.....soooooo dam cool
The next deck should be the dragon knight combo.
Also, I was very impressed by this deck tech! Good stuff!

Krark's thumb can fail on porpuse
Showing up 4 years later when Mana Crypt has jumped $100 in price
I have a ruling type question. So if you where to donate your commander to your Opponent and deck them. What would happen to your commander?
It would normally be exiled, but you can choose the command zone replacement effect instead, thereby putting it in your command zone.
www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/magic-fundamentals/magic-rulings/754600-rule-800-4a-player-leaves-game-control-effects
Robin Marks Thanks :)
Control effects end before creatures are exiled, so he would return to your control and would not be exiled.
Some deck techs
I would LMAO if I played this deck
Turn 3 kill is so easy with okaun.i did it 3/5 games on the first evening i played it
I thought I was sick
Hive Mind and the pacts is just plain evil.
RNG gods, hear my cries
Just run fling and with the big boi one shot a dude
I built this deck and got okaun to be 100 billion in 1 turn with out going infinite lol
"If you activate Frenetic Efreet 1000 times, you WILL deck yourself."
Obviously you are unaware of the kind of luck that I have. Pretty sure even with 10 Zndrsplt's on my board, my deck would be just fine.
66.67% chance to win obviously
