Time has been kind to JB, looks the same as the 80's. Used to hate how those fords dominaited in the late 80's. Loved it when the GTR came and stole the show. Appreciate them all now though.
Its fantastic to see john bowe re unite with this car but its also kinda weird to think how he suffered depression through the latter years of his v8 supercar career. This guy was so brilliant in racing and touring car racing before the v8 formula, throughout the early v8 formula and well beyond the mid 2000 v8's its a damn shame it ended as soon as it id. Love ya john bowe you are a bloody great legend to the sport!
MIKE LOWREY Hey Mike. I agree that it's sad to hear about anyone suffering from depression, especially a guy who is possibly my favourite driver as John Bowe was and still is. Let the record show that he has achieved far more in Motorsport circles than most can ever hope for including the amazing work he has done developing and racing historic touring cars and GT cars. I'm in awe of what JB has achieved not just in terms of his racing achievements but also in his ability to promote racing in a positive light. Bigger it-I'm growing a beard!
Great vid guys! Just a little note on the audio, the music is so loud compared to the dialogue that I had to constantly turn the volume up and down. Cheers!

You ask me my favourite racecar of all time....................I give you this car. DJ and JB to me were some of the coolest guys getting around. I remember the interview with Dick after setting pole and he has an open face helmet and Ray Bans on. Badass right there.
Well I suppose when you compare the R32 with 3 litre 6 cylinder capacity & add turbo with ALL WHEEL DRIVE GRIP , to a Sierra with 2 litre 4 cylinders & ONLY REAR WHEEL DRIVE , there was only so much dick Johnson could do to bridge the great performance divide & he did a terrific job of it winning races & championships , in fact they were built that well euro race teams ended up buying there Sierra’s from dick as NO ONE in EUROPE COULD GET THEM MOVING AS FAST & RELIABLY AS DJR !
We called them Merkur XR4TI's in America. Won a Trans Am championship or two for Roush Racing and Ford. Nice looking cars in their day. Beautiful paint scheme. The red with gold wheels is always one of my favorites.
If the Sierras had the original twin-plane rear wing envisaged by its Designer (but canned by Ford's bean counters), the Sierra would have gone even faster on high downforce tracks.
E36 Racer nope but I know one was sold to his friend who still has it and has only ever driven the car once it’s covered dry stored and well cherished 👍🏼
The problem with Lakeside was that the only way to pass was to pretty much nudge the other guy out of the way. Now, if you did that now the other guy would bitch and moan and there would be steward inquiries and penalties.
You mean dominated the v8’s after they’d been neutered by the Eurocentric Group A rules. Don’t get me wrong I love these cars, but the v8’s they raced weren’t the same as the Group C big bangers or modern V8’s.

Phenomenal cars, game changers in their day.
I was having a good time and then that bloody music all over the wonderful soundtrack of the car came in and killed it for me 😡
2 ford legends! And all round great blokes, they have given us some of the greatest moments in Austalian touring car racing.

Bring the Sierras back!
Great video-very true I remember how fast the Dick & John Sierras were-Unbelievably quick!

Thanks for the upload - this is awesome. Love those RS500's - still looking mega-tough today!
I dedicate the song ' Man On The Silver Mountain ' By Dio to Dick Johnson . Much love from America 🇺🇸
Amazing historic cars! The DJR sierras are legendary...
Shame a couple of them are now in the UK and werent kept here in Oz

my first love 2002 , Sierra mk1 :D. Sierra Freak since 2002
Great video guys! :)
Mad we never got the Sierra Cosworth in the US. I want one so badly
One of the only cars to really challenge the r32 gtr despite being rwd only and 10 years old by that point...
Callum Pearce apart from the gtr blowing them into the weeds

damon wells ehh 4wd, 6 cyl 2.6 twin turbos??

Awesome video. I've probably seen this about 20 times 😂

The Merkur was highly inferior to the Sierra as well, the USDM 2.3 turbo was a paper weight compared to the YB Cosworth we got.
Not the same car.
Fantastic ❤️
Great vid what i live for
I want to go watch 1989 Bathurst now.
when they got to 1992 they really got em cracking
Great video and great cars.... But piss off that farking music and listen to the sound of the cars!!!
90hp without the turbo while running them in lol. 680hp with the turbo !
i also think he says 190hp. but im not a aussie so hard to hear
@ Nah I'm am Aussie he definitely said "flat out, wide open, they had 90 horsepower"
Love the Sierras Great Video. Cult Race cars...

The myth.....the legend.....Cosworth.

Great vid. Piss the crappy music right the farrrrk off.
Do these guys still own the cars

Gav Lar their was 6
Number 1 and number 2 are here in UK and imo the best 2
Lakeside, still a kick ass track, much more exciting than Willowbank in my opinion!
The problem with Lakeside was that the only way to pass was to pretty much nudge the other guy out of the way. Now, if you did that now the other guy would bitch and moan and there would be steward inquiries and penalties.
Aussie race car/engine builders totally wiped the floor with Europe's best.
Left the best from Rudi Eggenburger for dead.
Totally embarrassed them.
Prefere DG1 with the bbs wheels

Song name?.
Who the fuck did the sound?
So much better than the shitbox Falcons - what a car.
mate these petrol heads are not here to listen to the frigin music
too bad the sierra's weren't so reliable early on or their record would be much more impressive.
And then....GODZILLA STRUCK...the touring car killer R32 GTR....THE END...Game Over Sierra...and Dick
the nissan's track winning record percentage is nowhere near that of the sierra.
