Thanks John and dickie. I find motor raceing boring these days, but back then it was fun and exhilarating. The competition between you guys then was awesome. The group in the 80s wil lnever be matched. Thanks for the memories.
agrees! and all types of cars racing too.
Always loved Tru Blu XD & Hreens Tuf XE.
Nothing like a worked 351ci screaming around the Mountain!
I remember when he stacked it at Forest Elbow i was 11 years old and devastated lol but then stoked to see him on race day I love the tru blu and greens tuf.
I was 22 and I thought he was dead when he went in. Amazing to walk away and race the next day. Awesome stuff. Cheers Mate.
@@BatMan-oe2ghsame and dick got picked up by Brocky hitchhiking so he got out of one beast into another
I used to have an xe Falcon once and i managed to put the nightmare of owning it behind me - until i saw this video being recommended and the nightmares came flooding back.
Very nice - thanks for the story John.
Boy, I miss this era of Australian motorsport!! The Big Bangers luv 'em.
I had a XE for a few years, and loved it. and it loved the fuel.
Fantastic job. BBS wheels would be icing on cake 10/10 though
John Bowe is a great guy !!
himself and dick. the best.
My brother has one of the wheels that were on the greens tuff car when it hit the trees during the qualifying lap
It has been signed by dick also.
Nice !!
I wonder if you can still buy those original wheels for a recreation build..
How on earth did that come about.
@@toy200sx It didn't, everything on the internet is to be taken lightly. Everyone can say anything they can think of. Unless he posts a time stamped photo it's all BS
X d falcon n such r really growing on me now. Barra big turbs n 4 link rear = fun
I know JB won't see this, but go well mate fighting your bowl cancer. Your are a real good in
Apologies prostate
Holy shit people ,calm down ,we know its not the real one but it sure is a nice looking car and I would be rapt to own it ! so why all the hate ,I just dont get it ! I really expected a bit more out of fellow Ford people and car people in general ,so come on just relax and enjoy it for crying out loud !!
Carnuts The video was too short, and not driven at race speed. Just a rolling look-a-like. I guess that’s why people are disappointed.
It states clearly above that it is a re-creation.
Pretty good though. It would still look good in the garage.
Looks like someone fitted the wheels from the rear on the front, and vice versa! Seriously though, a great car in a great colour scheme - even though I was always told that green was an unlucky colour for a car......
i recall a cold air try leading to an air box , not just a air filter sitting on top like that
Because its not the car this car was built by a bloke in Toowoomba he has a true blue replica as well i don't know why they are trying to pass it off as real
I swear Bowey doesn't age
All that and didn't even get to hear it !
I'm glad he took Forrests Elbow a bit calmer !!
"Welcome back to 1983" he says. Blimey, if we could I'd go back in a heartbeat to check out that blond chick in my uni classes from the year before! Oh and by the way, the fashions weren't all that bad back then.
That's a nice looking car I love it more so for the color and the wheels and better than true blue
beautiful. see its grand daughter passing it early in the video... yellow falcon...
The one thing most of us came here for was the sound, unfortunately some video editor decided to dub some cheesy elevator pop rock over it.
Another probably unknown story was Dick was taking the green machine back to be repaired and it fell off the trailer on its way back, think that car jinxed.
From memory it was the channel 9 sponsored falcon that was given to dick sans engine. The 9 crew then put their 351 in a Commodore cams allowed them to run it but was inelagable for points or position
Troy Tuckwell.what are you on about.
@@peterbarber7613 the car dick drove the on race day after the crash was the channel 9 falcon not a djr car I have it on DVD. 9 had 2 cars in the race 1 falcon and a Commodore.
@@troytuckwell3610 i know it wasn't a djr car as it was bought and rebuilt over night after being loaned to djr.and they bendigo cars not channel 9
What happened to the original shell lads?
3.47 it has an Edlebrock inlet manifold, I thought they had to run the Ford one?
From memory the actual race car had the Eldebrock Torker Intake manifold, I don't believe that was a Torker though....
Awesome....I drove one.... doubt I could do it again.... but I drove one....shh,,, but the 6.... with a auto
351 Clevo brute horsepower
No side exit exhaust?
Put the correct amber/orange front indicators back on (whoever has been dressing up these Greens-tuf vehicles should know better). White/clear are just wrong and look appauling next to glass.
OK, it is not to exact detail as was the original .... overall it looks great. I watched it when Dick flew off into the trees, to this day I would love to have known what his lap time would have been, he had the Green Machine pumping. To bring another back to life by the next day was a remarkable effort. I miss those days of racing, the cars looked mean, they sounded mean and they represented more of the production cars. Not taking anything away from today's V8 Supercars but the only thing that maybe represent an actual vehicle is the body shell.
The original Race engine built by DJ will go down as one of if not the toughest 351 in Australian History. The power of Ford compels you......albeit Clickbait
It’s a good engine yes. Care to back your claims up with any written recorded info.
Like who even built it?
Toughest in Aussie history ?
I’ve noticed your claims everywhere mate… some of them are very misleading….
Nice replica but not the real deal by a long shot.
Look its cole trickel , lol :)
Replica with the wrong wheels. Should be 18" rear and 16" front
Greens Tuff had BBS wheels.
The sizes were;
Rear 19 x 14
Front 16 x 12
you forgot to thank all the public for donating money so dick could rebuild the bathurst wreck without the public support it would have just been a garden ornament
They've had the sense to strip out the rear seats and much of the interior this class was required to keep in the car back in the day. I wonder who was responsible for the rules requiring such flammible material to be retained?
I agree. There were too many who thought they knew best at the time.
Commentry by chopper reid
I think dick wold of got pole if he didn't crash ,as his times up to that point were the fastest , and the straight was the falcons forte
tell the truth he went in to the corner way to fast the rear slid out hit the fence then pulled the front around
Must have been the slow drivers on the hill fault.
And... the falcon... V's the mustang.... lucky...it has the ford badge....
Then pine pac mustangs and sierras
That ain’t Greens Tuff. Not even close.
351 brembo and Bilstein... go-kart on the road....so... rejoice....my slr5000 is just warning up
I have a few issues with this car...
The wheels are an extremely poor choice...
Granted, trying to get a set of the Porsche wheels that the real "Greens-Tuf" had would be near on impossible...
However, there are plenty of other wheels that look similar and would have looked alot better on this car...
For instance, the Forgeline LS3 series would have looked alot more like the real deal...
Secondly, the rear spoiler...
Whoever built this did not get the proper "Birdbath" spoiler... They got the 'consumer' version of it.
The one fitted to this car has the sides stay on top of the boot and end at the 'B pillar'...
The ACTUAL "Birdbath" spoiler ran level from the rear of the boot, so it dropped down the side of the quarter panel a bit and ended at the back door crease.. It passed the 'B pillar'...
Other than that, the car is nice...
Just wish people would do it properly when they replicate this icon...
I mean, if I can source a proper "Birdbath" spoiler for my XE... I bet this guy could have...
fucken oath
Tuff
Iconic car. SHIT MUSIC RUINS THE LOT.
That is not the real car, tell people that.
We did. The text introduction says it's a recreation and Bowe says it's a recreationin the video.
Thats a Fake car all wrong .
Read the description you numpty.
Errol daniels
Give me one the same thankyou very much
He’s not reliving the legend..this is not the real car..”this car” as you say is just a imitation.. it’s not the real car! GTFO
It looks too 'poxy' with those Simmons OM wheels and the small spoiler...
Seriously... Why not spend the extra $200.00 and buy the PROPER 'birdbath' spoiler and a further $4,000.00 to buy wheels that closer resemble the original Porsche wheels that were on the 1983 Greens Tuf.
Forgeline LS3 wheels look far better than the Simmons OM wheels.
These wheels look like they belong on a Supra or some other 'tuner' car...
Furthermore - The offsets on the wheels are horrid and you can tell that the owner bought the 'group C' bodykit from one of those cheap spoiler manufacturing companies, instead of sourcing a proper kit from Phase Autos.
Rear wheels sit too far inside the flares, front wheels sit too far out of the flares.
The whole car is sitting too high...
Seriously...
It is quite frustrating that someone has actually labelled this a 'replica' and then went through the effort of getting a video made of it.
There are far better, more accurate privately owned replicas...
That don't charge people money for a ride...
Nice Clone... could have at least sourced the real car, and someone needs to learn how to edit without ruining the clip... big thumbs down
Not even close. If I was Bowe I’d never have taken part in that. It’s an insult to a true hero Falcon.
Stock sounding Clevo compared to the original. Why bother
replica
Wrong wheels fitted.
Fail.
That's not an Eldebrock Torker Intake Manifold.... lol
Be period correct! 🤦♂
Haha thats nothing like the original or the actual race car.
who dressed this clown? 10/10 for the car, 0/10 for old mates get up
John Bowe is a has been
Dave S Your a fucking has been as well.Go back into your hole .
Only a never will be would say that, back under your bridge
I am someone
Settle down fellas. Its a nice car. John Bowe prob isnt as good as he was now, like all retired drivers. Its ok. We all get old. Cheers
Back in Johns day they were real men racing tough cars, now we have children racing the same plastic computerised toy, only a different label on the outside. I cannot say enough how boring todays touring cars are. It will never be what it once was. This car is a legend and a beast
Shame...I didn't see,. how to drive a shitty ford XD
Blokes got some nerve commenting on fashion dressed like that.
I like the car. I know it's not exact but maybe the owner has good reasons for the changes. It would still be a hell of a lot of fun.
