Very good advice. I recently discovered that the 57 Dynamic Mic on the Jazz Rivet Cab made my Strat sound overly bright and fizzy. I switched it to the 169 Ribbon, and everything sounded so much better. From there, it was a lot easier to dial in the tone that I wanted. I'll definitely be checking out more of your videos. Thanks
For some strange reason I understood every word you said, so I won't comment on the totally sufficient audio quality of your helpful video but rather on it's excellent content (which seems an unpopular thing to do, but whatever): Thank you, great work, helps a lot! Keep 'em coming!
I had the same problem, and solved it this way: Here is my setup, it is pretty straightforward, easier version of 4CM method: Path 1 - GUITAR > GUITAR IN > HELIX LT > 1/4" LEFT OUTPUT > AMP INPUT Path 2 - AMP SEND > HELIX LT RETURN > HELIX LT SEND > AMP RETURN As you can imagine, I use 2 parallel FX paths on Helix, which you can see on the image attached. Path 1 (lower path) includes the effects I love to use in the front of the amp such as compressor, drive, phaser and so on. Path 2 (upper path) is going directly to the FX loop of the amp, so I put time based effects here, such as delay, reverb, chorus etc. When you do this, you face tone suck issue, which makes your tone less alive, muffy and dark. When you disconnect your Helix from the FX loop, you realise that your tone goes back to what it really is, alive and bright. My Solution: Put a drive/booster pedal as a first block of FX loop path on Helix, turn it off, keep it off. You can compare your tone by deleting the block when it is still turned off, so it has nothing to do with the booster or the pedal itself. It doesn't matter which pedal you select. I think it digitally matches the impedance, as if you put a pedal with buffer in a FX chain in real life to solve your long cable tone suck problem. I didn't see this as a solution anywhere, so please tell me if you find it useful, or even solved your problem.
I'm using an HX Stomp after a high impedance preamp, and the sound is kind of muffled with a high-mid presence that seems impossible to dial out. Have not had this problem with my Zoom mfx. I really like the HX interface and hope to make it work, if I can fix this sound issue.
Some constructive criticism.... Work on your mic or something. You're audio is low. I'm using 2 different kinds of speakers and Its still hard to hear you. Maybe go directly into a mic
I've had my HX stomp for awhile and it just doesn't do it for me. I have owned and played through tons of equipment and know how to dial in a sounds. Any body wanna buy it and a headrush powered cab
Hi there. I’m getting a really low output when recording. The volume is ok but I’m getting more or less just a straight line on my recorded file. Any idea how to turn this up?
Tried out the helix lt at gc and got a pretty decent sound through the power cabs they offer and i am sold. I got pretty much the tone i want and i am selling my 65 Princeton and going digital for portability and ease of playing in my apartment
Hello Max, nice video again ! Sorry I ask because I may not understood !! Are they flat monitors those D7 brand speakers ? Thanks much for the video and info

Great comment.
Thanks so much! I know audio of the talking can be much better! Sorry!

Thanks! Will work on it!
Hands down best comment I didnt even listen to listen to most of it. Because of this
you re right! my volume is on full and very hard to hear .. otherwise..great knowledge!!
What In-ear phones would you recommend?
I would add a low cut at 80-120Hz depending on the Cab.

I’ve been using my QSC K12’s. Should I run my stomp direct into them or continue running it stereo to my Mackie PA? I ran into the PA for the eq
It should be fine!

Thanks for doing this video! Would the input impedance be different for single coil pickups?
I use 136k with single coils! Thanks for watching!

Adam t7v speakers are very nice and flat. You can dial in some great tones on them.
Does the HX Stomp do Tone Captures ?
No
voice audio is very low Max. Love your videos though!!
Soyy man, didn't sound that low when editing. Should have added my usual level boost and compression. Cheers!
Even on a shitty phone in a noisy room I can hear your voice just fine. Don’t know what the other comments are about.
Guess it depends on how much compression is added somewhere along the way :) glad you can hear it! Cheers
Someone please make a video with 3 reasons why Max's voice tone sucks ;)
Hahaha that's a good one! :D
3 reasons why you can't record audio properly for a youtube video.
You didnt talk loud enough
The levels were too low
The mic was too far away
Forgot to add the compression/level adjustment... Sorry man, it happens...
Sounds fine to me.
excellent! great help thanks!
that was helpful
Ist das sächsisches Englisch ;-)
you don't seem to know how to use
I indeed have no idea about anything at all in my entire life 🥲
