    He talking about an outmoded type of procedure, not the new non-invasive ones done with a laser today.

    Yikes! Great info-- definitely not worth the risk. People should stick with colored contacts if changing their eye color is something they really want to do.

    I have iritis as part of a multisystem autoimmune disease induced by a mild-ish covid-19 infection in March. It came on at first as keratouveitis in one eye (keratitis and anterior uveitis). The pain in that first bout got so bad so fast one night that I was completely incapacitated by the inability to keep my eyes open without screaming or tolerate even the slightest hint of low night time lights that my eyes were somehow still sensitive to even with my hands over my eyes. The good eye couldn't open or focus either because it causes the other eye to react so painfully. I was intermittently screaming, hard screaming between regular old crying, and had to call myself an ambulance on 999. Three more Accident and Emergency room trips have happened since then. It came back as much less painful but much more persistent chronic anterior uveitis in both eyes this time. The only comfort I have is that at least I don't have to live with knowing I PAID somebody to do this to me.

      Thanks for sharing. Iritis can be very painful and nasty. I hope your recovery progresses well.

    Hi Martin, great informative video. I wasn't even aware of this type of treatment. Can you post a video on the Bates method as proponents claim it reverses the need to wear spectacles?

      Thanks for the feedback and the suggestion Shabbir. I’m quite familiar with the work of Bates and I think it would be an interesting video to do, so I’ll definitely put that on my to do list, thank you.

    The comment below is someone desperate to change themself or someone who makes money in this industry. This procedure still has many negative side effects. Keep your eyes and get therapy. Be thankful you can see at all!

      Laser to change eye colour is another claimed solution, again I think this is too risky regardless of what they tell you.

    Doctor, is it safe for me to put a drop of castor oil in my eyes every night? I'm not clogging up anything, am I? Thanks.

    • @meyetips
      @meyetips  3 года назад +1

      It's not something I'd recommend. Clogging up pores and glands (e.g. meibomian glands, goblet cells) is one possible issue that could arise.

      @@meyetips Thanks for the response, Doctor. Castor oil is a natural remedy/treatment here on RUclips for moisturizing dry eyes. I thought I'd give it a try, but wanted to make sure it was safe first. Thanks for the info!

      @@EricaYE6 Yeah I've heard people using it for a lot of different reasons and It may well help for many of these things. I don't know of any castor oil product that has been tested and marketed for the eyes here in the UK, I get that it's natural, but I worry about the viscosity, sterility, and any unforeseen impact that it could have on the eye. We have to worry about these things when we recommend things though. You just have to weigh that up in your decision and consider also that there are a lot of dry eye products on the market for daytime and nighttime use.
