Ok, the Bmw's interior is nice, but Model S is much more practical, faster and with their software, app and charging stations (especially in California where I live) Tesla is just miles ahead of Germans. Mercedes and Bmw are making cars for a long time and now it is obvious that all they care is profit and not a true innovation. All it took is one guy Musk to change the entire car industry while Germans were sitting in their suits debating on the new headlights design and how to maintain the status quo with the Saudis supplying dinosaurs juice - gas. Some cool, clever technology and a class interior. What does that interior add over and above the 4 series in terms of space and comfort? It would have to be a lot, because in saloon form it's a big barge without all the practical benefits of the yet to come estate.
For sure I expect it to have more space for the backseat passengers, as it's quite cramped in the back of an i4. And the ride comfort will probably be better too.
They say the i4 seats five, but it really seats three comfortably (if the backseat passenger is fine with straddling the battery hump). There's a dearth of legroom directly behind the front seats.
@@BogeyTheBear I sat in the back of an i4 yesterday set to my driving position. it was absolutely fine at 5 foot 9 and I had plenty of legroom and just enough headroom. I can imagine 6 footers struggling. but people of average height or kids will have zero issues back there.

4:31 What's going on with BMW and it's huge frontal overhangs lately ? The I7, I4 and new X1 all got really long noses and now even the new 5 series, why ? In the side profile it looks like a rear wheel driven Mazda now and not like a sporty Beamer with crispy proportions.
The designers at BMW need reviewing, each body part looks decent but put them together and they don't match. The proportions don't seem right. This BMW looks like something from Hyundai or Kia.
History has shown that cars that are listed as “Tesla killer” or “Tesla replacements” or Tesla beater” end up not doing well, or have failed so hard they have been discontinued. EVs are the next evolutionary step in automobile advancement. E.Vs are competing against liquid fueled vehicles.
4:30 What's with the massive frontal overhang ? 😮 It's an EV or rear wheel driven car, why is the nose so long ? It looks like a Mazda or Toyota from the side, not like a dynamically proportioned BMW.
Why is BMW and Tesla used in the same sentence? This is somehow insulting to both brands. Answering the clickbait question: No, a 80k car will not topple a 40k car's sales.
This „Games Shit“ during charging is utterly useless. Just done because Tesla does it. Any business person will have to check million things in a break but to play C-Class games
Really? That’s ridicules for any company to do that. But that will,be the future. I heard that if you want to unlock your car remotely or use some free features we get now some companies will require you to pay a monthly fee.
No diesel in the UK or Ireland but the rest of Europe get it, whats that all about.... Electric maybe the future and i get it but for those of us who live in apartments without access to overnight charging facilities and have to cover huge mileage annually, diesel is the only realistic option until the infrastructure for plug in hybrids and fully electric cars are in place.
I like it, but it will not topple tesla, because tesla technology and plug-in network is ahead of anyone, and they are much cheaper. I can get a tesla Y in the low 30s after incentives. it may do better in the high end market competing against the model s, but as a whole against the tesla company, I say no.
Meh, the design isn't as bad as the i7, iX, or XM but it's still far from the timeless designs they produced before. I like my I4 way better (in the right spec).
but what BMW still missing, is the cost of electrical cars is much lower than ICE cars.. but they forget to set the price right.. That car cost dobbelt the Tesla.
@@okkimakki Most EV cars range from 8 to 10 years, or about 160,000 km. If age is usually the unit of measure of life of a device, this is not the case with a lithium-ion battery. You can rely on mileage, but that is not enough to know the battery life of electric vehicles. Circumstances on the road and driving style also affect mileage. Thus, it is best to measure the life of an electric car battery by its charge cycle. On average the lifespan is between 1,000 and 2,000 charging cycles.
@@fa5234 you got an reliable source for that? Most hits on Google says 15-20 years, or 320.000 km. And then only some cells will need replacing, not the entire battery.
It does. Countless auto reviewers have commented on it. The i4 edrive40 is the best handling EV this side of a Porsche Taycan. The Model 3 is set up as a "best fit" for all conditions. The i4 M Sport has adjustable dampers with Comfort and Sport settings. So better on pot-holes and speed bumps when in Comfort, and better through corners when in Sport.

BTW, I've driven i4 and was very disappointed.
Way too expensive for mediocre software, quality and bad efficiency, also carbon brushes in the motors (back to the eighties) stay away from bmw
I guess given the model s isn’t on sale in UK currently, it’s hard to compare …
I'm not sure how tall Ginny is, but it does look like a rather large car, but I guess for this segment thats what the punters want. With you all though.. YAY!!! a BMW with a sensible grill! Cheers for the walk around, there are certainly some really interesting and as you point out fun features.
Virginia is 5' 6" or 167.64 cm tall.
I'm sure this will be a great car to drive but the prices you quoted are just ridiculously high.
This car competes with Tesla Model S, a car that came out 11 years ago. BMW took a long time to come alongside. Now, how many BMW i5's will be sold in 2023? And how many Tesla Model S's? What are the ranges? Does it update at least monthly over the air? So far, you ONLY talked about female things (women talk interiors). What about the hard tech things?
Seriously??? … whats this about? … the speaking cow or the car? … whats the point (except flattering her Huge vanity) of showing her all the time while doing this discovery of the interior????? …. 🤦♂️
It's an EV or rear wheel driven car, why is the nose so long ?
It looks like a Mazda or Toyota from the side, not like a dynamically proportioned BMW.
Why is BMW and Tesla used in the same sentence? This is somehow insulting to both brands.
Answering the clickbait question: No, a 80k car will not topple a 40k car's sales.
This „Games Shit“ during charging is utterly useless. Just done because Tesla does it. Any business person will have to check million things in a break but to play C-Class games
As long as BMW is going to charge subscriptions for owners to use their own heated seats… I wouldn’t trust that “base” price.
Really? That’s ridicules for any company to do that. But that will,be the future. I heard that if you want to unlock your car remotely or use some free features we get now some companies will require you to pay a monthly fee.
except they don't in the UK. in the car i'm ordering it's a flat fee same as any other car.
The answer is obviously no, BMW cannot topple Tesla. They could however provide decent BEV's and there will be BMW loyal buyers. Good enough.
Another Tesla killer 🤣 BMW all in on EV's I see! They still think Hydrogen is a good idea. The only thing this will topple is the ICE versions
Nice grille better than kidney grille, but the charging technology still behind compares in North America….EPA range is not accurate !
I am happy with kia,,hyundai.
Ginny what about rear seat legroom and how to sit with the thigh support. Thx for a nother great video. Love your high heels 😉👍❤️
Since it is still basically a universal platform, it probably has that idiotic transmission tunnel, which means: not a lot probably.
@@Sebazzz1991 5 series has good legroom for almost 20 years now, since the e60 generation. Its the 3 series which had issues wirh leg room
@@nocapproductions5471 Unless you're the passenger in the middle
I'd supports Ginny's thighs.
Only if they use tesla's charging network. Imagine buying an ice with limited fueling stations that barely ever work.
Who cares about toppling anyone when it looks like crap. Awful flat sides, atrocious black grill, cheap looking wheels, the list goes on.
What's the deal with so many sharp corners on the body? It makes me think of a Honda. The interior design is however top notch!
Glad to see rich people buy expensive cars like this so it helps economy and working people outside Tesla. Tesla is better but keep it a secret plz
10:20 'Autobahn' please. An Autobarn is poor spelling, a typo or a large farm shed that drives itself! 😂
Next car will be an EV. I just can't deal with Musk's far-right politics to ever buy one.
All i can say about this video is nice legs girl. ❤ This 5 series is the worst of all time. Bad in every way. Design specialy.
I went to buy me a 5 series car, but they told me they don't have a gasoline version, so I went and bought me a Macan.
Typical clickbait "is this the Tesla Killer". ...... Why not just say is this another ICE car killer
Ginny looks tiny next to the car at 1:03... I thought the car was deliberately magnified at first.
the answer is no. I won‘t pay my hard earned cash for this. It ihas low value compared to Chinese EV.
Looks good 👌🏻... The car isn’t bad either. 😄
Wow the range of a 2001 base model Corsa, If you are lucky, Electric Cars are a Joke.
Lose the silly LP tyres and it would ride and look a lot better.
and the rims might survive a pot hole or 2
Considering life expectancy of batteries these prices are crazy!
So what is the life expectancy?
Big on the outside, compact on the inside, so what's the point of getting the bigger car instead of the i4?
Status
The i4 handles better than the Model 3? lol
IIRC it's heavier by 350 kilogram. That does wonders to handling.
@@Neojhun So, I take it the i7 handles better than the M5 since heft is the secret to superb handling? lol
@@Smith_Tech_70 I've driven both, extensively. No offense, I don't care what reviewers say, if you can feel the heft, it's not a better car.
Yes. BMW is renowned for good handling cars.
Ginny being a bit clumsy. Using the left hand to reach buttons on the right.
they just dont get what the profit structure at tesla is . he makes his own batteries . and its mostly robots doing the work.
Over priced trash. Go for the Xpeng. Much better value.
....and a fresh forward thinking design
BMW still insist on their "new" cars being styled exactly as the ones from decades ago. The only difference is the hideous grille.....boooooring, yawn
Posts like this are utterly pointless if. You can't drive the bloody thing.
1:37 May have something to do with the large amount of tumblehome in the cabin greenhouse.
Not as ugly as the 4 series but still a pretty ugly and unrefined looking design.
I’d say not “pig ugly” but “kinda ugly”, the front still bulges out, the grill is still swollen with a large front overhang. To me it’s still a bit in your face, I took out a massive loan/lease so everyone thinks I’m important styling, people with real money prefer subtle more sophisticated styling usually.
BMW is the best. Tesla ceo was inspired by e39 5 series & Porsche 911
Too expensive, and does not look exciting.. I4 is a better option, I think.
Looks like a Lego car. BMW should be ashamed of their cars now.
