??? 3:48 , right here he starts the explanation on how to use the restore. I realize this is 7 months too late but it's not like the video has changed. It's not a hard concept to grasp. Sign in to Google, on your new or reset device. Then follow the steps.
Why the H*LL does Google/Android have a BACKUP feature WITHOUT a RESTORE feature? I was in Information Technology for 32 years, Google's/Android's TOTAL LACK a RESTORE feature for a device NOT being replaced by a new one is CHILDISH and ASININE! 🤬🤬👹👹

I think that the screen he is showing for the "restore option" is the welcome screen that displays automatically after the phone has been reset and reverts back to factory settings. Just like when you purchase a new phone and then turn it on with a new SIM card, probably. There are many more videos about this same situation (restore from Google One backup) that can help😊🙋
After all these years I forgot how to restore . Usually I upgrade every year so I just transfer from one phone to another so I totally forgot how to restore thank you for this video

What is the difference between backup google and samsung cloud? What is better and more complete? I want have all same (apps, settings…) I don’t understand the difference between samsung cloud and google cloud backup
I mainly use google back up because photos are saved to google photos and apps and such are backed up as well. Samsung backup backs up your photos and videos to a Microsoft account and info is saved on your Samsung cloud. I hope that helps! Thanks for watching!

Great video thank you that really helped, but a little note remove old device sessions from the google account so it doesn't send verification to old version phone and register new one as a different one when you remove old phone your backups will be asked to restore.

I've never done a backup or restore with Google one but a friend of mine did the backup and he told me I could restore my phone settings by signing into Play Store which I did but it did not restore anything so I downloaded Google one and now it's saying something about the storage is full. I'm afraid to delete anything because I'm not sure if I'm deleting my backup information or stuff that maybe was left on the phone by the previous owner. Please help

The only thing about back up using mobile or metered wifi data, it's not good because if you travel, you'll be charged for it as roaming unless you don't travel out of your country, you can use it.
Is there STILL no setting to restore the app folders/groups from the old device to the new device? So I still have to spend ages re-creating the app folders/groups?
the restore process is either all or nothing.. No setting to just select specific folders
So you can only do a restore on a new or factory reset phone ? Does the back save your apps ? And does a restore actually reinstall those apps ? The internet is very scant on showing the restore process.
Correct you can only do a restore process when the phone is in brand new set up. It will have apps backed up, but may not back up app data. Thanks for watching!

This might be a silly question. Does this process also back up my Homescreen setup like widgets etc ?
The backup process does do that. Certain apps may not like work apps that are outside of the play store. But the switch should just be a copy and paste! Thanks for watching!
Does not seem you've done any real testing before creating this video. Google One is unable to properly backup MMS and RCS messages, even with a paid subscription. When Google restores messages it will only restore the text portions. All other content within MMS and RCS will appear blank.

Yes, I have the same problem, the text is there, but the picture associated with MMS is gone. I have a paid Google Drive storage subscription too, I'm on my 8th correspondence with Google, and they keep sending me the same directions. I made them a video, now they want me to send them a debug file running in the developer mode, I think they are clue less, but I got the file to send them.

Is anyone else experiencing a restore issue of Google One not completely restoring call logs or home screen folder layout to the new device?
I'm going from Motorola Stylus 5G (2023) to Samsung Galaxy A25 and I've tried multiple times via Google One and Samsung Switch, but it's still not working.
Could someone please shed some light on this for me?

Here's how to restore your phone data from a Google backup after a factory reset:
1. **Turn on your phone and go through the setup until you reach the point where you need to choose a language and connect to Wi-Fi.**
2. **Connect to a Wi-Fi network.** This is necessary to download data from the cloud.
3. **When prompted, choose the option to "Restore data from backup."** This might be labeled as "Restore from cloud," "Restore Google data," or something similar.
4. **Sign in to your Google account.** Enter your email address and password.
5. **Select the backup you want to restore.** If you have multiple devices, choose the correct backup based on the date and device.
6. **Follow the on-screen instructions.** The system will guide you to restore apps, settings, contacts, and other data.
7. **Wait for the restoration process to complete.** This may take some time, depending on the amount of data and your internet speed.
Once the restoration is complete, your apps, contacts, settings, and other data should be restored on your device.
This all look good if you restore to same phone. When you restore from Moto or some other xyz brand other than Samsung to Samsung , it fails. Your best bet is phone to phone smart copy using cable or wifi(scanning QR code). I will probably try another method by installing backup and Restore app from google play and give a try. I think old Samsung phones are more stable than new trashy devices. Anyway , I am not a fan of Korean brand.

If someone have greyed back now button - disable all locks (fingerprint / pattern etc) - then backup. It is temporary solution. For permanent - you must use ADB

Those dang pins… it could be a previous pin you had on the old phone.. ran into that a few times…

What if I already opened my new phone and already signed in?
If you already signed in, you may have to factory erase the new phone and start over again.. Kind of tedious, but that’s how you restore to the full experience. Thank you for watching!

Does the phone have to be in factory reset mode. I have a old phone that I'm trying to reuse but don't won't to factory reset it.
Unfortunately you have to do a factory reset in order to restore the backup

Great question! This just sends the app. App data is tough to send over, and may need to be signed in. With most apps nowadays, everything is either saved or backed up by an email. Thanks for watching!

If there’s nothing on the new phone, you shouldn’t be worried. Just gotta do a factory reset and restore.
My phone google was maxed out and it stopped backing up since June and my whatsapp stop backing up since February then my phone screen broke so now I've made some space the automatic backup would not work. Is there a way to push google to backup from the webpage?
The phone is on and connected to the internet but the screen is blank.
the way to push back up is right in the settings. if that’s not working.. sign out of the google account and try again. give It a good refresh

I don't have the restore button after adding Gmail account. If I'm not mistaken, once email is added, it does it in the background
Some phones will have it and some dont.. most of the android phone when going into settings, Google, should have a back up.. Then when the new phone gets started up, type in the google account and there will be a restore option. Hope this helps!

Thanks for this video! Samsung did not back up any of my app data (especially for some games) and I think it is stored in google drive but I can't find any way to restore the google drive backup. When I open smart switch now it requires me to have a device, no option to do it by signing in to google. Any suggestions?

When you do the backup and see the time stamp. You’ll have to factory the phone you want restored. And process the restore process from there

My G6 has been used as normal and such, not done back up manually, as I did not know the screen would mess up,
Ok your G6. If the screen is messed up, unfortunately you may not be able to do anything about it. Only thing would be if you had that phone automatically backed up. Sometimes phones do and sometimes they don’t. If you don’t see the backup when you are setting up the new phone, then I unfortunately you may need to start from scratch. I hope this helps! Not much help. I just wanted to restore one SMS conversation that I deleted by mistake. Looks like this is not possible . Sad.

You’ll have to make sure your photos and videos are backed up into google photos. Once those are backed up, in your new phone, you should see them by logging in with the the same google account. Thanks for watching!!

I have an over full Note 8 & recently got a refurb Note20Ultra, but couldn't do full wireless xfer with smart witch because (I was told) the note 8 is too full & 2) because my wireless is provided by my apt. Bldg so it prevents data sharing? (I can't wireless print return ups la bels from Amz for example because of this problem withwireless). Someone helped me & was able to xfer photos to new Note but said I'd have to manually add all my apps. Once I'd done the main ones, I moved the sim card & my phone service worked & my contact list was there but all my txt messages are missing & I need them. I have a Gmail account & a paid subscription for Google storage (200gb, 82% full), will above method work for me? I need to be able to use my new phone asap as old is so full I'm having trouble using my photo/gallery features & I use those daily. I'm worried as I've already taken a bunch of new photos with my new phone & I don't want to lose them. Will this "restore" wipe out anything I already have on my new phone, such as photos, new msgs, & new apps? (I've added some new apps I didn't have room for on my old note 8 for example, too.).
Have questions concerning "undocking" 1 - wasn't clear where you jumped over to when you "undocked" flash drive before unplugging, it appeared it wasn't part of the Google process (which doesn't make sense, if they let u choose to back up to a flash drive then unlocking when done should be part of their steps shouldn't it?) 2) when I moved my Sim card, the mocro xd storage card I had in my old note 8 came out in tray with it. Nothing came up on my phone saying I had to do any unlocking procedure. I put it with Sim card into new phone and when I went to device care to check my storage on new phone it wasn't showing a storage card in my new phone. Did I do something wrong and if so can it be fixed? Or did I just lose all the photos on that memory card? Doesn't make sense to me that notices don't comeuppance if we're not supposed to do something? I've changed phone costs and put new dim cards in my phone before and never "undocked" storage card b4 when opening phone to put new card in & never had a problem so I'm not sure what to do. It does appear tho, that I have to put sim and memory card back on old phone so I can at least send out & receive mtxt messages until I'm able to figure out how to xfer this to new phone so your help would be greatly appreciated. Seems my situation Us a bit more complex than what's addressed in your videos & not something as common. We don't have any tech people in our apt. Bldg that know anything about usage of our free bldg wide wireless so I don't know where to turn for help. FYI Watched your smart switch vid 1st & it was easy to follow, just shame won't work for me! (Won't even connect the 2 despite doing everything right, like they don't even see each other?). Don't know if this helps at all, but when I accidentally hit the cast button in my audible app, I see a list of neighbors devices & when I've hit one by mistake, I can no longer hear my audio book. I bet some neighbor us wondering why their TV show all of a sudden is interrupted & they start hearing a narrator from my latest Sci fi novel til I figure it out & get it turned off!!😅)

I am looking for a restore option of selected data (e.g. I want SMS and contacts, but no photos, or the other way around) *after* I have already performed the initial phone setup. I.e., I do not want to reset the new phone, because I put too much work into configuring it already.
From what I’ve experienced, you would have to reset on the new phone.. bc your data is already saved and backed up.. Hope this helps!
@@LuckyTechLife Thanks, but only some data are saved. I use dozens of apps that I had to set up from scratch after the latest migration. Especially finance and banking apps are a PITA to activate from abroad. It is not an option to do all that again. It always takes me two weeks to get everything right.
Hi. I wonder if anyone can help me. I recently transferred to a new phone and I guess I didn't do the Google backup thing beforehand because my old WhatsApp conversations have not transferred & there are some other unexpected annoyances. I still have both phones handy.
My question is:
*What should I do if I want to get my old WhatsApp conversations on my new phone?
* Can I try and just redo the whole process again?
WhatsApp has it's own transfer system from within the app.

Depends on what phone you have. they wont go back into gallery. It’ll be in your google photos.
