I have a projector hooked up to my Xbox and its really nyc to play games on the big screen, so nice and clear with clear details.. absolutely amazing..
If you do use a projector for gaming and tv make sure it's a DLP projector, they're the best for long hour usage. Only use 3 LCD projectors for occasional movies, using 3 LCD projectors for long hours will cause the LCDs in them to degrade fast. I had to learn the hard way.
What are you on about? Professional screens are white. Movie theater screens are white as well. There are high end ambient light rejecting screens like screen innovation black diamond, which are dark, but they are not professionnal. They are for people who do not want to have the room treated for home theater (darkened walls, and completely controlled ambient light) but will never look as good as a white screen in a dedicated room.
I got this projector in Jan, picked it up for £900 back then aswell. It's fantastic projector and I can't really find any flaws. I use it mainly for movies, Netflix and some occasional PS4. Would recommend to anyone who is looking to purchase a projector.
I replaced my TV with a projector like 3 years ago. Don't get a short throw, return that thing and get a regular cast. Your apartment is large enough and you can put it on a shelf on the wall behind the couch. Also, Epson has much cheaper replacement bulbs than the BENQ. I had to replace my first bulb after 2 years, mostly because of playing Fallout 4 tirelessly with it. I have a Epson Home Cinema 2150 that is around $700. It's 3LCD VS DPL, so the image doesn't get as washed out with ambient light. The trade off is the contrast ratio isn't as good as a DPL. 3D looks amazing, gaming is great, and I have a soundbar on a shelf behind my couch. Perfect setup. Everyone that comes over to watch a movie is blown away by how great the image quality is. I never go to the movie theater anymore. Also, get a proper screen. I used my wall for about a year and a screen frames the image so much better and brings your setup to the next level.
I rented a house that came with a projector mount (and all the wiring) in the living room and main bedroom.. the previous renter had them installed and recieved a discount on rent from the landlord.. might be worth a shot to ask your landlord for a similar deal...
I love this projector. I purchased it when it first came out....use it in my small "theater" room @ about 135". LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Go ahead and mount it and pay for the repairs when you leave.
Optoma HD27HDR...bought it October 2019 for $575 (US) 1080/4k/HDR..it's been awsome. It's not a short throw projector, but for $575 it supports 4K HDR, I was sold.
Gaming projector? I just use my nebula cosmos which was an upgrade from the Mars. Zero lag, good image quality, I bring it to my friends and can genuinely toss it around. $750 ain’t bad (the “deal” is always set to $750, bought mine 2 years ago).
You never use the projectors speaker. You are supposed to hook up the projector and consoles to a hometheater receiver. Gaming with stereo, or in your case monosound, should be considered a crime. Also, you do know that you can adjust the zoom on the projector right? So you can have the projector behind you and fill up the wall as intended. I got rid of my tv, so i only use my Epson EH-TW7400 UHD projector with a 108" screen and the projector is about 4 meters away from my screen, and i can go up to 150" at that distance if i want to. I will never ever again buy a tv, because projectors are far superior to tvs when it comes to just about everything. Bigger is better
We ditched our TV and bought a BenQ W1000 projector 9 years ago. Since then we've had a BenQ W3000 and we've just upgraded to the Sony VPL-VW260ES native 4K projector.
Luke Hero how come it's no good for gaming?is it because it's too dark or it isn't perfect quality?I've been looking into getting a cheap projector but I haven't got a grand to spend on a decent one.
@Sean Harris, the quality and colours are not good enough in my opinion, maybe I need to tweak it more but I'd just rather game on an IPS monitor or in VR. For watching movies, at the price, it's worth it I'd say. @mellojoe43, the projector is Vivibright GP100.
I idea of having projector at home is really bad I would even go for large screen IPS if I can’t buy OLED. Projectors May be a good fit if you have a big parking space or want to redesign your terrace !!!
True but the replacement is usually under $200 and bu the time they get old those replacement parts will be inexpensive more of them and itll last longer than an ordinary tv that fades much quicker. Tvs cant get much better and if they do youre spending thousands extra much sooner cause everybody wants the next best thing. I went with a 130” projector its amazing perfect choice. Get a white screen though not just on the wall it makes colors pop out beautiful.
Nice. Been looking to replace the tv in our game room with a projector an pull down screen. Our tv is a 65" 4k smart tv. But wanting to put it in my bedroom an use the wall space where it is now for other things when not play a game or watching a movie.
I made my gaming man cave in my attic back in 2015, I bought the benq w2000 which at the time was the best projector under a £1000, it’s 1080p silent & also 3D. I have it mounted at the back of my room and used the normal zoom to do so (I don’t understand why you had to have it in the middle of your room?) and it works perfectly..I project on a Matt white wall screen size is 120 inches, every friend which has seen it live have changed there minds regards projectors ....I highly recommend people to see these in real life before making and decisions regards projectors v L.E.D T.V screens. Each to there own tho 👍🏼
@@noname-mu6kn optoma hd29darbee, 16ms input lag. I personally use it for sim racing. Works well, decent throw and output. In Canadian I paid $800 for it open box 2 years ago.

One ideal use for this projector. is using it outside. Say you had a big backyard. You get a big projector screen and watch movies outside with a group of people.
I did some research a few years ago and wasn't trying to break bank. Spent $400 on a 800p ben q, colors are amazing. Still plays 1080p downsampled to 800p with beautiful with better colors than most TV. Plays DVD crisp since it's not a 4ktv. Great for the 2 times a year we watch a movie outside. Just finally got a 4ktv but still will go outside for the experience every now and then. Even has s-video but I never tried any older content or consoles through it.
Lol that looks really awesome but I'll never use a projector as my TV or monitor if it's not school related bruh you own a Samsung QLED TV put it back up
B D no I won't change what I said because I'll not use a projector as my TV or monitor if it's not school related or work because I know you wouldn't go through all that stress to put up a projector to watch TV or as a monitor every single time you want to use your computer or watch a movie with your girl
I game with a projector and love it. Just remember most projectors dont come with sound so make sure you have sound system with bluetooth. Also make sure you turn it off often because the bulb replacement is hell of expensive.
I love the idea of them. Friend of mine uses his home theater and has dolby atmos for his XBOX enabled. He plays Overwatch on console but the sound is impeccable. I have Dolby Atmos for headphones installed on my main rig, and my 32 inch TV on my desk is nice for desk stuff, but if you're me and you're thinking of making a desktop type setup but have a nice white blank wall in your office, let's just say I want to get a vertical throw laser projector. I care not about cables or heat just so long as no fires happen or I don't trip on them. They make extension cords for about everything these days.
This overall was a decent review. However, projectors on the whole will not be losing VGA connectors anytime soon, so don't try to guess age that way. Schools, businesses, and many venues will want to have that variety of connectors for any "unexpected" inputs from customers or clients.
I love my projector that i use for gaming its an Optima HD141x also with low input lag Lots of things to consider if your thinking of having a projector as you pointed out very well with your low throw cabling and speakers. I looked at many projectors before I went ahead an purchased my Optima but Price was my biggest hurdle but at a price of £400 I thought it well worth going for and im happy I did cheaper than any TV. But another big point to remember is the lamp life and the cost of replacement.
I have the BenQ W1050 mounted behind bed to motorised screen in bedroom, fully cable managed and hue'd up. Can't recommend sticking with it or replacing it with a standard throw mounted enough! 120 inch PS4 Gaming and Films on Nvidia Shield TV in 5.1 Sound is hard to beat. Once you get the projector bug you can't go without...I look at my 50 inch TV as an iPad now haha
I used an Optoma HD projector for a good few years, I had a long HDMI cable coming out of my Surround amp, and everything plugged into that, the cable went round the floor of the room, up some plastic trunking and into the projector... I used it on a wall, in daylight, without any problems - and this was 6 or so years ago! Admittedly I ceiling mounted it, (I just patched up and painted over the holes when I moved out)
Showing off a projector and only using 1/3 of the wall to review it instead of taking a few few extra minutes to find the right spot......................... I mean whats the point of reviewing a projector at the scale of many big-screens.
Yeah I had a projector HD set up it is cool but not worth it unless you have a dedicated room that you can run wires properly. Plus they do get HOT. Tv these days look overall better for the most part.
If you could you should mount it on the wall and point it downwards on the wall but I do recommend some studio monitors or a small hi-fi system as projector speakers don't tend to be the best.
The short throw models don't really make sense because as you demonstrated you're putting it in the center of the room. Good video, looks like ultra short throw or standard is the way to go for most people.

I switched from a high end 60" OLED to a projector, and I will never go back. Even at 1080p, it looks awesome and is easier in ny eye. Think looking at a flashlight bouncing off a wall versus shining in your face
I have a projector hooked up to my Xbox and its really nyc to play games on the big screen, so nice and clear with clear details.. absolutely amazing..
“Don’t want to break the bank”
Costs $1000
Sorry diablo won’t happen again boss
It’s 900 pounds which is like $1500
@If you laugh you sub! I've got bills to pay stfu
If you do use a projector for gaming and tv make sure it's a DLP projector, they're the best for long hour usage. Only use 3 LCD projectors for occasional movies, using 3 LCD projectors for long hours will cause the LCDs in them to degrade fast. I had to learn the hard way.
A decent room cinema projector allows you way more zoom and pan options. Almost no matter where you would put it you get a great 120" screen
I bought a 1080 supportive short throw projector (Epson) for less then $100,- and it’s working awesome 👌
if it were my room I would have a black wall painted white in the middle to make it look better.
yea that would be a good idea - or perhaps install a projector screen.
The Tech Chap project screens are for the weak!
* *_khuurr khhrrr heavy starwars breathing_* *
Professional projector screens are dark, not white (SI, DNP, etc.)
You won’t be able to change the dimension of the projection screen on your wall anymore
I used my wall for about a year and a screen frames the image so much better and brings your setup to the next level.
its DLP not DPL bro
I loved to game on a projector when I was in middle school, hooked it up on my Wii and it was a huge screen.
I rented a house that came with a projector mount (and all the wiring) in the living room and main bedroom.. the previous renter had them installed and recieved a discount on rent from the landlord.. might be worth a shot to ask your landlord for a similar deal...
No screen though but the wall was good enough for the $300 projector I bought.
I love this projector. I purchased it when it first came out....use it in my small "theater" room @ about 135". LOVE IT, LOVE IT! Go ahead and mount it and pay for the repairs when you leave.
Me: wow my new 1080p tv is soo nice
Me after watching this: hmmmm can i return my tv?
Optoma HD27HDR...bought it October 2019 for $575 (US) 1080/4k/HDR..it's been awsome. It's not a short throw projector, but for $575 it supports 4K HDR, I was sold.
You could have turned the lights off
Gaming projector? I just use my nebula cosmos which was an upgrade from the Mars. Zero lag, good image quality, I bring it to my friends and can genuinely toss it around. $750 ain’t bad (the “deal” is always set to $750, bought mine 2 years ago).
Cant replace tv. If light gets in during day ... unless you live in darkness all day
My buddy has a 150 inch 4k HDR projector and screen with 5.2 surround. We watch stuff there regularly, it's awesome.
@@AG-hq1fx hmmm I forget. I know it costs $2000 for the projector. The screen was maybe $700
“So I just went out and bought a thousand dollar projector as an experiment. 😊”
I replaced my TV with a projector and absolutely love it! Great video as always mate!
that's awesome! which one?
Epson HC 2030. Great LCD projector for the price
I bought a short throw projector 2 years ago, haven't regretted a thing!
How long dose the light Bob last and how you replace them is it easy
Bob????? Lol
We ditched our TV and bought a BenQ W1000 projector 9 years ago. Since then we've had a BenQ W3000 and we've just upgraded to the Sony VPL-VW260ES native 4K projector.
I have a 720p projector that I got for £100. Not good for gaming but pretty good on the weekends for popcorn and movies though!
Luke Hero how come it's no good for gaming?is it because it's too dark or it isn't perfect quality?I've been looking into getting a cheap projector but I haven't got a grand to spend on a decent one.
Luke Hero what's it called
@Sean Harris, the quality and colours are not good enough in my opinion, maybe I need to tweak it more but I'd just rather game on an IPS monitor or in VR. For watching movies, at the price, it's worth it I'd say.
@mellojoe43, the projector is Vivibright GP100.
... they have 1080p and 4k projectors..
I idea of having projector at home is really bad I would even go for large screen IPS if I can’t buy OLED.
Projectors May be a good fit if you have a big parking space or want to redesign your terrace !!!
"Without breakin' the BenQ"
getting one for our rv this is gonna be a game changer
3K hours projecting life is really easy to blast off if you sleep while watching movies like me lol
Buddy its short throw why is it 15 ft away from ur wall
Man short throw dez nuts bruh
exactly bro@@Fatmasters11
Another sponsor video, just great!
Or just wait another year or 2 and get a full 4k 75+ inch for under a grand..
Andi Gorani who the fuck wants to wait years
@@hydrogaming8684 will if you got time forthe next ps5 or xbox scarlett next year then yes.
Each to there own tho 👍🏼
dude just hang it on the ceiling. fill in the holes when you move out.
I was thinking the same thing. Filling in the holes and using some touch up paint will cost you next to nothing and be very easy
Just replaced my TV with a epson home cinema 5050ub projector and a cheap silver ticket 16:9 110" screen and I am absolutely amazed with the setup.
$900 for a 60hz display...Oh no honey
Find a 2+ year old projector that has better he display low input lag and everything else the projector has
@@noname-mu6kn optoma hd29darbee, 16ms input lag. I personally use it for sim racing. Works well, decent throw and output. In Canadian I paid $800 for it open box 2 years ago.
i have a benq w1090 i love it its 1080p all the same features as yours has a 3500 hr blub on it things a beast i put mine on my celiing and just loved waking up turning the projector on to 120in display game changing if you dont own one yet look into it but dont get a cheep crappy one you will hate it afterwards
The price of really big televisions have come down. The lamp in this might last 1 year.
One ideal use for this projector. is using it outside. Say you had a big backyard. You get a big projector screen and watch movies outside with a group of people.
YOU NEED ULTRA SHORT THROW
I did some research a few years ago and wasn't trying to break bank. Spent $400 on a 800p ben q, colors are amazing. Still plays 1080p downsampled to 800p with beautiful with better colors than most TV. Plays DVD crisp since it's not a 4ktv. Great for the 2 times a year we watch a movie outside. Just finally got a 4ktv but still will go outside for the experience every now and then. Even has s-video but I never tried any older content or consoles through it.
Lol that looks really awesome but I'll never use a projector as my TV or monitor if it's not school related bruh you own a Samsung QLED TV put it back up
shemar Dixon your dumb, and must have never seen a projector playing a game because it is way cooler than some small tv
B D bro i didn't say it wasn't cool I said I'll never choose the projector over the Samsung QLED TV
that's not how you worded it just edit the first comment and I will delete my comment
B D no I won't change what I said because I'll not use a projector as my TV or monitor if it's not school related or work because I know you wouldn't go through all that stress to put up a projector to watch TV or as a monitor every single time you want to use your computer or watch a movie with your girl
I thought projectors were hot. Don't the bulbs heat up?
I have a HITACHI CP-X3015WN and it is a great projector. I would definitely recommend a HITACHI projector.
Great stuff!!!
I game with a projector and love it. Just remember most projectors dont come with sound so make sure you have sound system with bluetooth. Also make sure you turn it off often because the bulb replacement is hell of expensive.
That's pretty expensive. Mind as well get an Oled 4k tv😂
Ikr that supports 120fps
? And pay quadruple the price and not get anywhere near 100 in.
How about day time viewing - guessing that the room would need to be darkened...
Could have used the Projector central to decide what will fit for your room by throw distance.
I'm uncomfortable with you moving your PlayStation whilst it's still on 😕
I wanted the cosmo max from anker which is $1699 so this is bomb
Nah mate not looking to break the bank init
Proceeds to buy a £900 projector😂😂
This overall was a decent review. However, projectors on the whole will not be losing VGA connectors anytime soon, so don't try to guess age that way. Schools, businesses, and many venues will want to have that variety of connectors for any "unexpected" inputs from customers or clients.
I use projector which give me 150inch of screen and a good Gamming Experience.
How is image quality/colors compared to an actual TV/monitor? Really curious as I'm thinking of buying one.
Without breaking the bank
900 pounds.... ffs mate
TheTechChap: Without breaking the bank
Also TheTechChap: I spent $900 on a projector
I have the BenQ W1050 mounted behind bed to motorised screen in bedroom, fully cable managed and hue'd up. Can't recommend sticking with it or replacing it with a standard throw mounted enough! 120 inch PS4 Gaming and Films on Nvidia Shield TV in 5.1 Sound is hard to beat. Once you get the projector bug you can't go without...I look at my 50 inch TV as an iPad now haha
Wht about the noise
I used an Optoma HD projector for a good few years, I had a long HDMI cable coming out of my Surround amp, and everything plugged into that, the cable went round the floor of the room, up some plastic trunking and into the projector...
I used it on a wall, in daylight, without any problems - and this was 6 or so years ago!
Admittedly I ceiling mounted it, (I just patched up and painted over the holes when I moved out)
What back-light are you using behind your TV at the beginning of the video?
philips hue lightstrip :)
I have an short range projector. I like it. Fits perfect on my living room table for rare use.
Showing off a projector and only using 1/3 of the wall to review it instead of taking a few few extra minutes to find the right spot.........................
I mean whats the point of reviewing a projector at the scale of many big-screens.
I just got a new projector for $400 with auto focus native 1080 p 4k supported with everything he said he’s one has ,$1000 is ridiculous…😂
Move the shithouse tree/lights out the way
It would look so much better without orange tree lights on the wall/screen
I found it annoying as well
Yeah I had a projector HD set up it is cool but not worth it unless you have a dedicated room that you can run wires properly. Plus they do get HOT. Tv these days look overall better for the most part.
should've went with optima gt1080. 1080p60, same throw distance and clocked at 14-15 ms for $687
best projectors hands down i have a similar Benq played GTA5 online in 100" elite screen and love it
I got drunk and woke up to a $2000 projector sitting by my bedside and I haven't bought a tv since.
For roughly the same price you could have picked up a Benq MW855UST. It projects a 100" screen from about 17" from the wall
Any plans to review some 4k tv's? Maybe a top 5 tv's type video..
I've got some plans ;)
If you could you should mount it on the wall and point it downwards on the wall but I do recommend some studio monitors or a small hi-fi system as projector speakers don't tend to be the best.
He said casual like 1000 bucks is “casual” 😂
The short throw models don't really make sense because as you demonstrated you're putting it in the center of the room. Good video, looks like ultra short throw or standard is the way to go for most people.
