I totally agree with Tony’s video! I have been playing golf since I was five I am now 71, the new generation golf balls is so much better than the 60s through the 80s. A mild scuff is no big deal to just about any golf balls nowadays. This is a very good informative video!
Been playing since the early 80's with used golf balls. On the rare occasion that I bought new ones my score NEVER improved! I was thinking of starting a youtube channel to address issues like this. Glad you beat me to it! 👍
Hi Tony. New subscriber. I'm familiar with Kirk's channel. I was wondering if you had your lofts and lies adjusted on your clubs for this type of swing? Thank you!
I did not! It is not necessary as long as they were a correct fit for you before adapting Setup 4 Impact. Remember, we are having you set up on your impact plane, but that plane hasn't changed. Lie angles should be set to match your impact plane, not your address. As for lofts, I play the Paradym x (they are loft jacked) irons all standard except that I lengthened them 1 inch.
I agree with you on this Tony. I've got a buddy who get a skuff on his proV and gives them to me. I play them and do just as well as a new ball. Sometimes it seems to go straighter but I know that's just my imagination haha. Just wondering what course are you playing??
In my experience it is easier to notice on the putting green if a ball needs to be replaced. If it’s still rolling true, then I keep using it, unless I find it visually distracting . ⛳️
Another Interesting Geezer video, which brought a couple questions to mind… Do you put it back in your bag to use another day? Question #2 is not something that i need to worry about very often but how long, or how many rounds do you play using the same ball.
If I keep it mostly in the fairway and away from the rough edges of a course I might use one for 2-3 rounds if it doesn't look too bad. Even then it would play fine but I like the look of a "shinier" ball. Generally as Sanford I'll use a worse ball, when I go "away" to a nice course I use a better one. Played "away" today (shot 74 on a 6800 yarder) with a found almost new prov1 and it still looks decent so I'll use it next time at home. And yes, I still have that scuffed TP5 in the bag awaiting it's next chance! Played at home yesterday with...yes...a top flite! Shot 1 over with it!
I've played well with many scuffed golf balls. I usually turn the scuff away from the danger. It seems to help a bit but not always. I will place the scuff down if there's trouble left and right, haha. Distance wise, they're about the same.
I'm not saying it doesn't affect anything...I'm saying it's not enough for me to notice and probably the same for you. Certainly didn't affect my score.
So you missed the green three out of four on your second shot? Maybe you should play an Un scuffed ball along with the scuffed ball to see if your game is even.
I think it was 2 out of 4, the last hole was a par 5.....but I miss greens with a new ball too! The experiment was about the driver and where it went as compared to My Golf Spy who tested only a driver. All the drives were good.
an old man bet me he could beat me if I used a ball that had a lawn mower gash in it, I still beat him , and that thing went way offline, affected putting as well

Yeah, I'm the non conformist, don't believe all the hype kind of guy!
badass nine Tony, you proved you point like a dawg. Subscribed
Thanks Gman, glad you enjoyed the video!
I scuffed a ball on the cart path last week. The next drive was one of the straightest balls I ever hit. The ball played great the rest of the round.
That has always been by experience too!

Everybody needs a buddy like that!
This one is Sanford Municipal in Sanford NC....I make videos on some other courses too.
Thanks for watching!

Hmmm, well I did make a nice putt on #8 with it!
@@GeezerTony Yeah, you played great. That ball was still fine. Totally agree with you. ⛳️
@@kolchak357 When we were kids we played with balata balls with cuts, or "smiles" on them. That's all we had ...now THAT would affect the ball flight!
@@GeezerTony I remember balata balls as well. Yeah, they were soft. Didn’t take much to put a smile on those babies. 😂

If the scuffed ball deviate during flight then it does affect it.

As long as the dimple pattern is not altered, right?
I think that would be more than a "scuff"?

Just like the days of the old balls with the "smile" in them...we used to find and play those as kids.
