So I have a 2011 Z and would love this swap in my Z , BUT !, you guys have to do this swap in a stock Z just to show everyone what we would have to do to get this to work in a stock CR-Z , but still would buy these motor mounts in a heartbeat ❤
I have a 2011 CRZ manual, and have been really conflicted about whether or not I want to k swap it.. the J series has me very intrigued. PLEASE MAKE THIS WORK lol
Man, the J-series V6 engine is an underrated motor to say the least. Honda/Acura has been updating/improving this engine design so nice it’s inception. It’s super smooth, powerful, sounds great, fuel efficient, & super reliable. I hope we see more J swaps as this is still a rare thing & this engine is everywhere (affordable).
I thoroughly enjoy all of the content this channel produces and look forward to more, thank you Brian and VTEC academy. I’d love to meet you guys one day.
The CR-Z is one of my favorite cars, I have a 2011 myself. I've been planning to do a k24 swap since I just cracked the block in the stock engine, but this is a pretty cool alternative!
I keep watching these dream builds. Dream builds because for me when doing this it needs to be perfect as stock. Abs traction control, cruisecontrol, it needs to work. And dont give any warninglights on the dash. Then i think about the drive ability. With the manditory ima delete you make the back even lighter and with the j35 you certainly add weight to the front. So your suspension needs an readjustment or overhaul, your stock brakes wont cut it either, to make it drive safe. certainly when dubbel the horse power. Add this to the costs and the RND needed to set it up so it a perfect sleeper. The raw reality if you don't own a shop arent able to do most of it yourself have the time skills and talent. materials and labour included.... i think is 10k easy. Most don't invest that kind of money at once into a car. My plan is to do all other stuff first upgrade brakes, suspension, stiffer sway bars, bushings in the endlinks. Brace the body with everything hardracing cusco are selling and when all those things are inplace and if have i clear in my head how i am going to solve every detail of swapping and fusing the wiring harness into the stock dash. To make evey happy. I wont attempt the swap. I am not at that point i have to make that decision yet. Still have lots of money to spend on the other stuff before that. Slowly but steadily i am getting there. Will i make the final step... and swap the engine honestly. I think the hybridsystem or the engine would have to fail, only then it will happen. Because selling it isn't an option.
I don’t comment on much videos but please make this happen. This is like a forgotten chassis that had such a short lifespan. Would love to see what you guys could do with this thing
As a supercharged CRZ owner, please make this happen! I'd love to see it breathe some extra motivation into the CRZ community :). It's such a driver-oriented car - I can feel the love that was put into it, but someone dropped the ball with the power. I really hope they bring it back one way or another. I will say though, Honda should drop the CRX comparison with branding it a CRZ, it's doing more harm than good. Also, a lot of people mix it up with the CRV when I talk about it. Also, nice work on the Fit!
@@quademasters249 yes you are 100% right. CRZ has so much more room in front. I had to move my Radiator and Ac condensor forward near 4 inches when doing turbo k24 in my GE Fit but in CRZ none was required
So I've heard you mention on different videos that the 15-16 CRZ is the best years for k swapping usind a k24z. Is it due to a more plug and play engine harness option?
Awesome! I sold my 09 accord v6 6speed for a second gen fit. This is the best of both worlds but it will be k series for me. Waiting for you guys to release some videos on the K swap GE fit! Can't wait!
Interesting. Edit: A J35 Fit would make a lot more scenes in answering the "would you own n drive a j-swap crz?" A J35 fit would be a nice highway road trip cruiser and a beast on a track with room for everyone.
I own a 2011 crz ex 6spd and will be Kswapping it next year. But ome reason why this chassis is good for a K,J swap is the fact that its about 2,550 lbs once the hubrid battery is removed so for a modern honda it is light. I mean its not as light as the 88-91 crx but its about the same as a del sol chassis and it has a lot of modern tech on it compared to the older homda chassis. So imo its a great chassis for a J or K series swap. Hope to see a J swap crz one day
Ive been wanting to do a k swap on mine for years but a j35 would be a whole differenr beast, i have a 2015 manual crz and i live in SD, let me know if youre down to make this sleeper
A j series is a fun swap and makes 35 mpg easy in a civic body. The transmission choices are limited and you need a single mass flywheel and clutch or your gonna experience sloppy judder from the duel mass flywheels on mild power applications.
Question: when converting a hybrid to a combustion engine, do you remove the battery cells? It seems that would be a huge weight reduction. What do you do with the battery cells once you remove them. I own a 2012 CR-Z and am a huge fan of the CR-X - I want to get my CR-Z to the level of my previously owned and tuned Acura Integra GSR- that car was a beast.
Yup,you remove the hybrid battery and save about 100 lbs from what i hear. So with the hybrid battery it would weigh about 2,550 lbs which is pretty light imo. Perfect for a j swap or K swap.
yall fail to realize the crz has been Jswapped before and tops this if you havent check out the CRZ GT300 its a mid engine J swap crz and i believe its twin turbo as well if i was gonna go as far as putting one of the best and costly swaps into a high-er costing chassis such as the Z id definitely go with what team mugen did with that CRZ gt300 its literally insane
You fail to realize that is hand built custom chassis dressed in carbon fiber bodywork to resemble a CRZ. Not really something a RUclips channel based on doable swaps is going to tackle.
Oh man I’d love to see this baby zipping around. I’ve always love the crx and this would definitely be a build to be on a crx level. Lol forza Motorspors level 😬👍🏻
2:30 Nah it wasnt that at all. As shown by others who have done this swap its because the CRX with a DOHC "high" output engine was too scary to release in the mid 2010's... They couldnt have a repeat of the CRX and fatalities. So they made it SLOW as molasses, and no CRZ doesnt hold up to a stock CRX SiR with the B series in it. Only the 1.5 Turd matches up. This should have came with a K series period.
The J series is so cool. I would love to do one someday!
yep love to j series type s

J swap the world!
J is the way.
@@VTECAcademy anything come out of your brain is the way😉😊 😍👏👏👏
@@VTECAcademy your video on the TL makes me want to sell my fa5 and get into one of those. Keep up the incredible work please!
Def team J. I wanna see a series on this build.
Continue this swap please!
It would be so sweet!
Can you awd it as well?
I have a 2011 CRZ manual, and have been really conflicted about whether or not I want to k swap it.. the J series has me very intrigued. PLEASE MAKE THIS WORK lol
I daily a 2015 crz ex and need to figure out an AWD and engine swap
@@dreadhawk861 For AWD you'd need to change the rear suspension too

Ooooh, sounds great! Got the HPD Supercharger in my 2013, but I'm still in for the JRZ.
I moved forward my radiator and Ac condensor in my K24 Fit when i needed to turbo it. Works perfect. Plenty room everwhere

as a fan of swaps and a man who does them. I like this.
I would never think of this one I hope you do this build
The crz needs this series!
Please do this! I love the idea of the CRZ, but not the hybrid powertrain. A J in one would be incredible!!! ❤❤❤
I feel like this would make a great daily with the J's nice smooth torque.
This video and concept is amazing and hilarious 10/10 need to see more
I really think the 1.5t is the perfect motor for the crz!
There was a Ge Fit with a running swap back in the day. There is also a J swap Gd that has been in progress for years.
Nice!
One more option if I get tired of my 1.5L in my 2010 fit.
I get the impression the CRZ engine compartment is larger than the one in the Fit. Even a K is a tight fit in a GE Fit.

I really hope you get mounts done for this soon. I want to do this so bad lol
I actually want to swap mine with a B20 vtec.
The Honda Crz GT300 has a mid engine twin turbo hybrid v6.
I wish someone made a body kit that matched that.

Yeah, I like that chassis.
I know it’s a small market, can we please get mounts for 1.5t in a crz\2g fit???
Man that’s sweet can’t stuff a v6 in a rsx or ep3
With the j it would be a nice daily for sure my J35 accord has plenty of power on tap can't imagine what it would feel in that crz
We need that Honda wave of Jswaps!!!
Jswap all the way! 🙏
DONT TEASE ME WITH J-SWAPPING A F-50 LIKE THAT LOL
Would this apply to a 2010 Honda insight? I am very interested
Yup!
Wait are you guys designing a mount kit for j35 swap in first gen Tsx?
We love this 😀
Is there anyway to enable the vsc and cruise control function on crz after the swap? also disable the IMA warning light

Seeing this make me think my k20 CR-Z is going to see another engine in the furure ❤
Id love to see this built. 😎👍
If it fits run it...I am looking to doing mine with the J swap. show us how Brian!
I'm weak for thinking the J35 is big in my Accord engine bay. I previous had a K24 accord where it was swimming in extra space.

Would this set up be potentially carb legal in California? Trying to see what engines would be feasible to get it road legal in the CRZ/FIT chassis
WHY I LOVE YOU GUYS!!
Can you do 3rd gen honda accord with a k swap ????
Would love own a j swapped or k swapped crz. I like the design of the car. As a European you don't come across swapped crz unfortunately
Ha,ha,ha ... Very well presented. Thanks.

A little off topic but do you guys do Kswaps on people crz?
Unfortunately, we do not work on customer cars.

Honda City Turbo 2 next please 🙏
@vtecacademy, any updates on this?
And Honda Fit engine bay is even taller than CR-Z. But slightly narrower from front to back

Your not the only one with that wet dream🤤
Do we know if a k20c4 can fit into a cd7 accord?
I love a k series but the j series is so much fun to drive my van literally gets sports cars in the 1/8 it's pretty funny
