Automation is good as long as you have everything set up perfectly and can maintain everything at that point. Robots can't prep a surface for painting like a human, they have no reaction, they don't see anything and aren't flexible, so unless the surface is exactly the same and the exact same procedure can be performed each time a human will do it best. If the smallest detail changes, undesirable consequences occur. Robots carry on doing the same thing over and over again until they are reprogrammed, when the end result you're receiving isn't good it carries on moving in the same directions at the same speeds over and over again producing crap until we come and fix/change something.
