What a great video, I did a one time many years ago own a VW bus . That was when I was around 20 years old ,I am now 77 years old. Your video brought back many memories of my past. Thank you for this really great video and the time you put in to film it !
When I was in high school and a few years in college, my friends and I had VW’s. I had a 1972 white bug. We even named our bugs and I lived in California. I miss that sunshine ☀️ the nostalgia…… Enjoyable to watch!
I got this randomly in my feed because I watch other VW channels and didn't read the description before I watched it. I don't know what you shot this on but I listened on Sony WH1000XM3 noise canceling head phones. By the time you got to the pier I was eavesdropping on multiple conversations and I could tell which vans were playing which music, it was truly 3D sound and I was transfixed. WOW! nice job, I'm following now.
excellent video, never knew there was still that many Volkswagen vans still in existence, just amazing to see all the different styles and colors., thanks for sharing your adventures.
I'm old now but some of the best times in my life was when I got my First VW Camper Pop Top. I was going through some real tough times and that Bus got me though the tough times. I drove it ever place and the some. I had three of these beautiful V W's hell what I would give to have jus one more before I die No Snow in California and there still a lot of them there. these were like they just came out of the show room. Loved the vent window to tap on my Joint and never get any ashes on me LOL
Great video I remember the hippie days and VW surf wagons very well grew up hanging out at Torrance beach and Redondo beach And don’t forget the sidewalk surfers
Nifty 50s and Spiffy 60s VW busses - Great transportation if you're not in a hurry to get there, don't mind the summer heat because you got no AC, and those vinyl seats stick to you!
Huntington has sure changed over the years, pretty blinged out, & over the top now days. Brings back fond memories of the $45 a month 1 bdrm apartment we had on 9th & Orange street in HB a couple blocks off PCH. Born in early 1950's & raised in Newport, Bought my first Vw Bus 1954 Kombi/ Safari in 1969 for $30. It was a total beater/ bucket that barely ran & was a well past being worn out when i got it. Being a Ex tour bus Imported from the Swiss Alps sometime in the early 1960's. I gutted the bus & took all the woodwork out of an old wooden 30' sloop sailboat i was working on & built/ converted the Bus interior into a live aboard rig with all that nice Teak, Koa & Mahogany wood from my sailboat, Built a small wooden A frame cabin roof where the sunroof was located so i could stand up & pull up my pants inside..lol,,( Something most modern day anal -retentive VW Purist's would cringe at), all that being 5 decades before van life became the trendy thing). Installed a lightly built '59 Porsche super 90 engine & modified reinforced & raised the suspension a little bit to handle rough unimproved roads & remote camping in the Sierra Mtn range & Beaches of Baja California Sur as well as for living & traveling through the American Southwest . My GF & I lived out of the bus for 3 years, with our surfboards, a small 14' catamaran on top strattling the A frame cabin, 2 bicycles mounted on a rack up front & a little honda trail 50 motorcycle hung on the rear.. Never did any body work to the beater bus except an annual brush paint job to tidy it up. Alot of cheap affordable fun and memories back in those days. These VW buses today look like they rarely leave the garage except maybe as a local grocery getter or to park at some car show and gawk at. I guess they are just an over priced toy these days, a cult created investment instead of a cheap practical machine that you can actually work on, maintain & repair yourself. I couldn't help but wonder if my old VW bus was one of these restored units at the pier, I bought it in Huntington Beach in '69 and sold it down the coast in Newport Beach in 1973 for $750 & moved to the big Island of Hawaii..
I've owned a bus or two and absolutely enjoyed this video! Now the wife and I have a "place" to go when we are home sick for Vdubs, palm trees and beach ambiance!
Excellent vid - appreciate everyone who maintains & restores these gorgeous vehicles. Growing up in the 60-70’s was always fascinated by VW campers always thought they were cool !! One time I rode up front in one & was not comfortable at all ! Very little room - rough ride & was worried that without any protection in front any accident was bad news. Cute but way too small & cramped inside. Understand why so many love them 😎🌴🇨🇦✌️
Thank you for this. I was feeling really homesick today. I lived in OC for most of my life and retired out of state almost 7 years ago. Huntington Beach was my favorite place to go since I was in my early teens. I'd turn onto Lake St from Adams and I could feel muscles in my neck and back relaxing. I still remember Maxwells, the restaurant all painted in grey next to the pier, and across the street was Golden Bear where a lot of famous musicians played. 👌
I miss the old HB. It used to be such a cool surf town and a unique way of life. Now it’s just full of tourists and high prices. I lived there for 40 yrs and I was happy to leave. I don’t miss it at all
Love The Vee Dubs. When a kid, never saw the unusual Crew Cab Pick-Up Combo Buses. Great cinematography. Camera work has no detectable (or actual) auto luminance changes and the vertical movement, while walking, is practically non-existent. All VW Buses are the symbol of total freedom and sigma sovereignty.
I never realised how amazing Huntington looks. We have a huge VW following in the U.K. & I’ve been to many show & shines myself, but nothing like this. 🤙
ONE thing is clear, at least to/for me ....VW's "BUZZ" will not EVER REMOTELY convey a sliver of this Unique Nostalgia of the original VW Busses . long live the Bus.
Loved seeing all the old buses in fine shape; couldn't help but notice that most of the people are in good shape also. We hear a lot of razz from other parts of the country about our politics and our taxes here in California but these people look like they are doing OK.
Visited the Huntington beach pier in the early 70s. First and last time swimming in the Ocean . A rip current got me, and scared me to death. I almost drowned ! Love the Vws !

Hi ❕ Another nice video from California ❕ Thanks for that 🙂. No one in my subscriptions for a long time, didn't give California ❕ It's great 👍. Btw, these VW "buses" sometimes served as "hippie cars" 🌼. But you probably know that too 😉.

Прекрасная солнечная погода, и ретро машинки ярко красочных цветах. И формат 4К. 👍
Got T-boned in my ’65 deluxe micro bus. Better than a head-on with only a piece of sheet metal and a headlight for protection.

These cars were with us in the seventies and eighties, in the state of Morocco, now they have disappeared, I used to ride in them when I was young.
