Once you started listening to Metallica, there is no turning back. No matter how you change during your life, no matter how your music taste change while you've came to a fork in a road.... Metallica will still be the band you'll gravitating to over and over again...

Metallica, the internets favourite band to bitch about. But you know that deep down the bitchy commenters are only there because they got into metal because of Metallica.

What an epic song. Metallica is the best band ever. Many bands can make a few great songs, but the amount of great songs from Metallica is totally unmatched by other bands/artists regardless of genre. And most of them kinda run out of ideas. Being able to produce a song like this 35 years into your career is spectacular.

    Metallica: Halo On Fire
    Obey, obey
    Come won't you stay
    Sincere, sincere
    All ends in tears
    Endure, endure
    Thoughts most in cure
    Concede, concede
    But both shall we bleed
    Oh, halo on fire
    The midnight knows it well
    Fast, is desire
    Creates another hell
I fear to turn on the light
For the darkness won't go away
    Fast, is desire
    Turn out the light
    Halo on fire
    Allure, allure
    Sweetness obscure
    Abide, abide
    Secrets inside
    Deprive, deprive
    To feel so alive
    Obey, obey
    Just don't turn away
    Oh, halo on fire
    The midnight knows it well
    Fast, is desire
    Creates another hell
I fear to turn on the light
For the darkness won't go away
    Fast, is desire
    Turn out the light
    Halo on fire
    Prayers cannot get through
    Return to sender
    Unto which of you
    Shall I surrender
    Twisting in disguise
    Dark resurrection
    Lighting up the skies
    Wicked perfection
    Too dark too sleep
    Can't slip away
    Open or close
    My eyes betray
    Beyond the black
    Come won't you stay
    Hello darkness, say goodbye
    Hello darkness, say goodbye

But in the end, he managed to make those failures became a style, and to be fair, I think he is better this way. Everybody can play perfect, but nobody can make his mistakes which is a good thing because thats what makes him Lars Ulrich. also most of those fails doesn't sound so bad. to sum up, he is not a really good drummer by technical manners but if you don't seek technical perfection, he is one of the best drummers in the world..

I remember when I was 16 me and a buddy were listening to music while stoned, back then I only listened to rap. He put a cd in and was like check this out, he put on for whom the bell tolls and my mind was blown. We started listening to the rest of the cd and I couldn’t believe that every song was better then the last. 20 years later and Metallica is still my favorite band and ride the lightning is my favorite cd ever. Metallica has got me through some really rough times in my life, they are simply the best.

I Think one of the reasons I love this band so much is because they adapt and morph to the current sound and at the same time they are the ones setting the trend. It’s funny sometimes when i feel like I’m losing my sense of self, the first thing i do is turn on MetallicA because that is not a trend for me or something anyone else imposed on me (although I’d love them anyway , imposed or not) but this band is something that even when i was 10, i loved. It er, they are something that just intrinsically grabs me and sometimes I’m dumbfounded by the brilliance and especially amazed at the song’s structure, and other times i just close my eyes, and i cannot imagine anything that sounds better!

What a composition! I know there is contention about the transition between timing and keys, but the way it's done is intentional and carries the feel and story of the song, IMO.
And let's just talk about the bass!! Oh man, what a bass track! Four Horsemen was to me Cliff's highlight. This may well be Rob's.
