This was so damn helpful. I compete against a player who just has this knack for hitting these low skidding shots around the service line and even shallower. I often have to move forward aggressively and hit these balls low and on the move. I've had some success but not enough consistency. This video, plus your approach footwork video, have helped immensely.

if I don't want to hit a normal slice off those low balls and want to hit a more penetrating slice drive then I will flip my racquet.. But If I just want to hit a normal slice to skim the ball, then I leave the strings all open to the ball.

A few key points takeaway from this great video for low balls:
    1.) More shoulder tilt downwards
2.) Focus on the internal rotation (windshield wiper) - the follow through should finish below the shoulder level.
3.) Can choose to use reverse forehand if you want more topspin
4.) Avoid forced follow through above the shoulder

Where do guys live ? The content in your videos really breaks down the mechanics for the recreational player. Your techniques are logical but unique to most on RUclips. You guys are a great team. Thanks. Cam

    Excellent video!
In your videos you often talk about “internal rotation” and also about “internal shoulder rotation”.
Could you please specify exactly what you mean when using these terms?
Keep up the great job 👍

How do you deal with low slow serves? I always hit them to the back fence. And sometimes the slow servers will throw in a slightly faster one which jams me up when I stand too close to the service line

Can you make a video about how to hit high balls? I go against players at my school that hit the balls high and deep into the court, they're usually way above my head, and it's frustrating to hit it back in. It's basically a topspin lob that somehow always manages to land right at the baseline.

At 3:14, your grip was not tight enough to prevent the racket becoming very unstable at contact. Otherwise, all your points are valid.

    I got low balls

  • @stavsantis
    @stavsantis 4 года назад

Guys, for some reason ... Despite being 1.92m tall, I really struggle with high bouncing loopy balls but I actually have no problem with ankle and knee height flat balls.
In fact I would say this is my best shot... I am able to regularly hit 80-100mph forehand winners off of extremely low balls that are coming to me quite hard.... I use a modified eastern grip (ala Federer/Tsitsipas/Sampras)
My friends are surprised at how someone my height struggles with the high balls but loves the awkward low balls that everybody else struggles with .
What's funny is I can hit these balls very flat so somehow I'm able to get the ball just over the net but keep it in court when the ball is below net level....
Any ideas on why this may be so ?
I feel like I get scared and step / lean back on high bouncing balls which is a big no-no.
