I like how you guys don’t just talk endlessly but give a demo too the same time unlike most RUclips coaches who just talk and talk and talk standing on the court. 💁🏻♂️🙄
This is probably the most detailed and informative video on how to deal with high balls. I see Thiem moving back all the time so he can just aggressively swing at the ball by buying himself more time. In contrast, Federer is masterful when it comes to hitting shots on the rise. Option 5 sounds like the most difficult one 🥲
J i like the passion you have for the sport. I recall you from 후리는 테니스’s youtube and now that I see you as a comment here it gives me a strong feeling I would love to hit with you sometime.
You guys have absolutely the best camerawork I've seen among all the tennis instruction channels. The buttery smooth player tracking, unique perspectives, and slow motion, all make for a super effective training video. Thank you for all your time and effort!
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Hi Simon, I'm 45 and have slowed down a lot. Plus I'm only 5'8" so perhaps some strategies for slower/shorter players to reach the tough shots? Thanks for asking!
It is valuable to see shots hit in slow motion, e.g., Simon hitting balls "on the rise" and Alex hitting one-handed backhands. Videos like this increase my enthusiasm for tennis.
Simon and Alex, a year after I first watched your videos, I am still coming back to rewatch. This video has so much for the developing player. I have only fully worked on 2 1/2 out of 5 of those steps and have more to go. Great content, gentlemen!
Very good. Especially against low level doubles players and pushers. One other way to handle these moon balls on the forehand is to tilt your body and hit a hard top spin shot at a higher swing plane.
Great video guys, love the ending, not seen your funny sides. I recently lost to a player who used heavy topspin on his returns to me and didn’t really know how to deal with hit. Now I have some options which will really help when faced with the same situation 🤞
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Thank you Alex and Simon for creating great content! I struggle tracking the ball and end up not watching it at contact (and not holding my head steady). Any tips? Many thanks.
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Maybe a road map/ training /drill routine to take 4.0 players to 5.0. Every player is different, but something general would be helpful. Just throwing ideas on the table. =)
I face countless of high loop moon balls or deep topspin balls, extremely valuable, thanks !! So far I I'm able to hit most of these options except the drive swing volley which I haven't trained for it yet 😅
@ Simon as I watching learning from both of best coaches . You forehand flat down the line shots is Pro level killer. The sweet sounds powerful hitting killer. Not even some 4.5 players can hit that. You had master all the tennis skills. Nothing but the best. Happy holidays you both coaches .
Another great video Simon & Alex- thanks! I regularly play against a guy who has a wicked top-spin FH with good depth. It's so frustrating when he uses the same pattern over & again: hits a t-s FH with depth, pushes me back far behind the baseline and then comes in & tucks away the easy volley. Will try a few of these tactics next time!
Great video guys - really informative. Are you able to make a video on how to execute a forehand drop shot with disguise. I'm able to execute the backhand drop shot very well but find it more tricky on the forehand side.
An excellent video such great attention to the minor details which make all the difference! The high slice though I find this such a risky option but probably because I don't execute it as well.
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial actually yes. If you haven’t already done it, I’d be interested in seeing the core footwork patterns, but more importantly the common problems (such as balance) that hinder club players when trying to perform them
Excellent. This is video that I was looking for my daughter. She is a flat hitter and she cannot handle high heavy topspin to her forehand. Hopefully, she will learn from this video and decide which technique she will use in her matches. Also, can you make a video how to make those angle shots from both sides. I am an one hander backhand and I cannot hit this shot no matter what I do. Also, how to counter this angle shot as well. Thanks. Alan

Thanks for your videos and input - always good. My number one tip before anything is - get a mega tacky grip plus the size that suites you. Then you can 'let go'.
You are able to hit something above your head with a forehand grip almost reverse smash motion. It's pretty consistant because you are able to adjust and hit top spin, side spin, both, you name it. You can also get a lot of power because of the massive wind up. It's very similar to a pingpong smash.
I’ve been struggling trying to hit a flat ball back from the shoulder height. I noticed from your slow-mo demo is that you start loading before the ball bounces on your court. Seems that is my problem. I need to time my leg loading earlier so that I can catch the ball while it still rises up at my shoulder height. Thanks for the great lesson!
Bruh hitting flat balls won’t get u anywhere, I’m a heavy hitter who hits high and heavy and people try this alll the time and it’s just completely inefficient. To be honest I recommend slicing of the rise, it’s difficult but with practice u can learn it. it’s harder for a heavy hitter to hit a good ball back off a slice.
Shoulder level shots are hard, since they are just below the out-of-range zone but you should just think about your footwork and hitting it in front of you, also if you have good enough balance you can swing your right foot which somehow gives more power. Good luck!
I have no problem hitting the ball on the rise (low pickup, close to half-volley) from the baseline. But, for the life of me, I can’t hit the high-slow-mid court ball down to the court aggressively. Most fly long. In the real match, I always just chip and charge those mid court balls and finish the point with a volley. This seems to work well at 4.0 or below level. At 4.5 or higher, chip & charge is not good enough to do some damage.
