You guys have absolutely the best camerawork I've seen among all the tennis instruction channels. The buttery smooth player tracking, unique perspectives, and slow motion, all make for a super effective training video. Thank you for all your time and effort!
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Hi Simon, I'm 45 and have slowed down a lot. Plus I'm only 5'8" so perhaps some strategies for slower/shorter players to reach the tough shots? Thanks for asking!
I like how you guys don’t just talk endlessly but give a demo too the same time unlike most RUclips coaches who just talk and talk and talk standing on the court. 💁🏻♂️🙄
It is valuable to see shots hit in slow motion, e.g., Simon hitting balls "on the rise" and Alex hitting one-handed backhands. Videos like this increase my enthusiasm for tennis.
Simon and Alex, a year after I first watched your videos, I am still coming back to rewatch. This video has so much for the developing player. I have only fully worked on 2 1/2 out of 5 of those steps and have more to go. Great content, gentlemen!
This is probably the most detailed and informative video on how to deal with high balls. I see Thiem moving back all the time so he can just aggressively swing at the ball by buying himself more time. In contrast, Federer is masterful when it comes to hitting shots on the rise. Option 5 sounds like the most difficult one 🥲
J i like the passion you have for the sport. I recall you from 후리는 테니스’s youtube and now that I see you as a comment here it gives me a strong feeling I would love to hit with you sometime.
Super lesson! On fast courts in Southern California, we grew up taking the ball early on an almost half-volley as de rigeur. Maria Sharapova is a prime example as she'll hit an almost half-volley from the baseline. Requires more timing skill, but works well if you play "Hot Lava" - play from the baseline. Also helps dealing with heavy top by taking the ball before it rises and it's action becomes less manageable at chest or shoulder height. Hitting from the back court, waiting for the ball to drop, is asking for trouble in the form of an angled return, especially for us old farts.
Very good. Especially against low level doubles players and pushers. One other way to handle these moon balls on the forehand is to tilt your body and hit a hard top spin shot at a higher swing plane.
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Thank you Alex and Simon for creating great content! I struggle tracking the ball and end up not watching it at contact (and not holding my head steady). Any tips? Many thanks.
Great video guys, love the ending, not seen your funny sides. I recently lost to a player who used heavy topspin on his returns to me and didn’t really know how to deal with hit. Now I have some options which will really help when faced with the same situation 🤞
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial Maybe a road map/ training /drill routine to take 4.0 players to 5.0. Every player is different, but something general would be helpful. Just throwing ideas on the table. =)
@ Simon as I watching learning from both of best coaches . You forehand flat down the line shots is Pro level killer. The sweet sounds powerful hitting killer. Not even some 4.5 players can hit that. You had master all the tennis skills. Nothing but the best. Happy holidays you both coaches .
Another great video Simon & Alex- thanks! I regularly play against a guy who has a wicked top-spin FH with good depth. It's so frustrating when he uses the same pattern over & again: hits a t-s FH with depth, pushes me back far behind the baseline and then comes in & tucks away the easy volley. Will try a few of these tactics next time!
@@TopTennisTrainingOfficial actually yes. If you haven’t already done it, I’d be interested in seeing the core footwork patterns, but more importantly the common problems (such as balance) that hinder club players when trying to perform them
An excellent video such great attention to the minor details which make all the difference! The high slice though I find this such a risky option but probably because I don't execute it as well.
