Hi there Emmanuel, I'm a dropshipper and i usually add products from brands from Amazon ( like Nespresso etc) to my shopify store, they always come with a GTIN number from Amazon but end up disapproved from merchant center for incorrect value (gtin), i now added a supplemental feed that gets them approved but with limited performance. My question is: can i use your method in the video for products that Appearantly have a valid gtin that i dont have and can't get? Thanks alot
First, I would look at the packaging of the product to check the barcode, Nespresso is a well-known brand and all its products will have an official barcode. You can also contact the manufacturer to get the correct numbers. My tutorial will not fix the limited performance. Because you are required to add barcodes.
Thank you for this video. I'm trying to follow and apply to my handmade products. After you set Gtin to "does not match regular expression" I couldn't tell within the video where you went to copy. Also, will this fix all of my products at once or will I need to do this for every product? Thank you in advance.
It's in the description of this video. Regular Expression: ^\d{12,14}$ This rule will apply to all products applicable, once the products have been reprocessed.
I’ve been trying to fix this for months- What if I am the manufacturer of licorice drops and I sell them in 2oz and 4oz bags (bulk- scoop from a bin based on weight, place into baggie, sell) so I do have a brand, but no barcode? What would be google settings be?

Resolving GTIN issues depends on the physical item. If you have added the correct info or not. Check the product packaging to ensure the barcodes are correct.

If you can not see feeds, that means you are using Google Merchant Center Next, which is still in beta and does not have feed rules as an option. Either wait untill GMC Next is fully released. Or convert to GMC Classic by clicking on the question mark.
Hi Emmanuel, i have this message error in my merchant account (duplicate value [gtin]) i have corrected the GTIN in my Shopify store and i see that the GTIN has changed in GMC but still shows me the same message error on the diagnostic page any advice to solve it thank you.
If the message still appears, the barcode is duplicated on another product. I recommend checking all products and ensuring you remove all duplicate products and or duplicate barcodes.
Hello,I also have a problem with my products getting approved.Even after I updated manually the GTIN and other values, still my products are not approved.

Great video! Thanks so much. I got to the last step and clicked OK and then it has been frozen for at least 20 minutes within GMC and is not allowing me to save as Draft and says it is "editing in process" with my Shopify store. Is this normal?
No, but you can refresh the page and the draft should still be there if you click on save draft the first time, but not yet the second time. If the first time failed, then that is lost and you need to redo it. If you keep getting this issue, contact Google Support to report a technical issue.
I have The values set up on my woocommerce but it is still showing Limited Performance due to missing value, list are Brand, Age Group, Color, Gender. I make all of my products in my online store. Do you have a video to show me how to batch update these or take it from my online woocommerce store? Thanks for these videos
That is called a regular expression. You can search online to find more different examples of codes. This one in particular, does not validate the barcode, but does check if its between 12 to 14 characters long, and if its a number.
I am experiencing "Limited performance due to missing value [gtin]" issues with a number of products, so I followed the instructions and have no noticed that all these products are also displaying "Incorrect value [identifier exists]" as well. Unsure if I did something incorrectly.
If you experience that more products have the issue, then revert the change, then instead, manually edit the specific products with the issue. Please note that this solution only works based on what Google wants you to do. You may need to find out what the barcodes are.
Hi, great video. I sell used and refurbished for gadgets, i was thinking to get gs1 codes, will this work? Or do i need to use my items to "one of a kind"?
I would not buy barcodes for used and refurbished items. Simple do not submit brand, mpn and gtin and set identifier exists to no. You are also not allowed to buy barcodes, if you are not the manufacturer.
Yes you do, considering if you are submitting a seperate feed for local feeds, then you need to apply the same rules. Based on: support.google.com/merchants/answer/7022397
I manufacture and sell wall vinyl decals so they have no barcodes tried your above suggested video and now i am getting this error on google merchant "Incorrect value [identifier exists]" any ideas ?
When you are selling something that is visually similar or identical to other merchants. And they have added product identifiers. Then Google will get confused. Without knowing much about your business, I would add a brand name + MPN values and set identifier exists to yes.
One last question: I was struggling with the final part of the Product Identifier. Is this rule set up correctly? Attribute: identifier exists If gtin has no value › Set to: No
Hello ! Thank you for this helpful video. So if i have correct GTIN, MPN, BRAND, then i just need to add rule : "If gtin has no value ›Set to: Yes". Am i right Emmanuel?
That is correct, no need for the regular expression, however it is still recommended to use the expression just in case you made an error in the barcode.
Is there any reason why I can't see (Prepend/Append/find/replace/Advanced Operators on my merchant centre which is not allowing me to click ok, am I missing something?
Brand or unbranded, it does not matter, from the perspective of the feed rule. The outcome, may not be the desired result. But that is not dependend on the feed rules, but your data and what you sell.
Hello, thank you for this informative video, however I am currently stuck at the save as draft part, says “please make sure all entered values adhere to shopping feed specification” please help thank you!
@@osixblack Then most likely something went wrong. Try redoing everything step by step, 1 rule at a time and save each rule. Most likely a step was not done correctly. If you continue to have issues, you can hire me to implement it by emailing me at hello@feedarmy.com
I was trying this in another Google Merchant Account for a feed and I get this red bat warning "We can't complete your request right now. Please reload this page to try again." Any ideas? It has been going on all day and reloading the page does not help.
If the manufacturer has no barcode, but Google is still asking for barcodes, and you are limited by performance, nothing can be done. Other than asking the manufacturer to assign a barcode.

Hello! First of all thank you for your precious video ... I kindly wanted to ask you, can I follow this step by step procedure and leave the 13-digit barcodes (EAN) in the product sheet? Thank you! :)
Yes, the feed rules will not remove any values when you add valid barcodes. Only when the barcode is invalid or not added will it correctly change the product identifier values.
@@feedarmy Hello! I did everything as you said in the video, but unfortunately many products appear to me with the following errors "Gtin is required for this product. @@Pjohnx90 Certain products do require barcodes if they belong to a specific category or Google knows there are barcodes. You need to contact the manufacturer to double-check if the products have barcodes or not. Incorrectly submitting data will result in limited performance.
Depending on how your data is setup, or your product details you may need to do extra steps. Make sure that if barcode exist that these are added. If not, then the above video should remove all data appropriatly. If in case Google still complains, then most likely the products have barcodes, which means you need to check the product packaging.
Absolutely, it covers both when you submit or do not submit values. To ensure all product identifiers, (brand, mpn, SKU and identifier exists) are currently submitted, based on the source data.

Hey ! Does anyone knows if doing this can be a reason for Google to suspens a Google Ads account ? Mine just got suspended and I'm looking for the reason, was wondering if it might be this one. Thanks
If you have submitted product information incorrectly, yes it's possible, but rare. Make sure that the product identifiers, meaning Brand, GTIN, MPN and Identifier Exists values are accurate. By checking GMC > products > all products > click on your products > scroll to the bottom and view the final attributes.
@@feedarmy it worked, thank you very much! But I added new products and realized that they are still asking for Gtin and Brand, do I have to wait more or is there nothing to do?
@@eduardodossantos2900 If the rules are applied correctly, they should apply to new products. If that is not the case. Check the final attributes in the product info section to check the data.

Make sure your products meet the following requirements Don’t submit the value False for the Identifier exists attribute when there is a valid GTIN for the product Only use a GTIN that has been assigned by the manufacturers of the product can you suggest please
If Google says it has a barcode, then you need to add a barcode. Setting the details to false will not resolve the issue. The rule is that if a manufacturer has assigned a barcode, you the reseller, must add this info.
So, I was able to use this info for some of the products, but not all of them. What am I doing wrong? I would've sent a snipit, but it won't let me paste here. Basically, for anything that's blank now, it's requiring a GTIN be put in. The "identifer exists" isn't overriding the requirement to enter it with the "No" that set it to. Attribute Rule brand Apply default rule: Take from: Content API If gtin has no value › Clear brand attribute gtin Apply default rule: Take from: Content API If Content API.gtin does not match regular expression '^\d{12,14}$' › Clear gtin attribute identifier exists If gtin has no value › Set to: No If identifier exists has no value yet › Apply default rule: Take from: Content API mpn Apply default rule: Take from: Content API If gtin has no value › Clear mpn attribute All other attributes Default rule Take from: Content API Note: Attributes with * are custom attributes
Check if the GTIN value is empty then based on the rules the identifier exists should be no. So if that is not the case, something must have gone wrong with your rules. Also make sure you check the final attributes only.
@@feedarmy I did the whole procedure yesterday, it worked, but today several products have this error: Incorrect value [identifier exists] , what to do? Thanks to you
@@morgan-ik1lz Double check the final attributes in GMC > products > all products > click on your product > here check if the final attributes are correct. If yes, then Google may be expecting you to submit brand + barcodes or brand + mpn.
If you see no attribute in the final product results, that means the default value is no. Which is good. You will only see a value if the value is yes.

You will need to wait till the end of the summer for GMC Next to have feed rules, considering you don't want to migrate to GMC Classic (no data will be lost, it's just a message to protect Google).
This can mean that Google is expecting a barcode. This can happen when Google knows there is a barcode, It belongs to a category where it is required or other merchants have added a barcode. In this case I recommend double checking the packaging for barcodes.

If it does not work, that can mean several things. 1) Google expects you to add barcodes, 2) The rules are not applied correctly, 3) You did not wait long enough for the diagnostics tab to update (wait 24 hours). If you continue to have issues, feel free to reach out at hello@feedarmy.com

Yes you can setup feed rules for all attributes, here is a guide: support.google.com/merchants/answer/7450276?hl=en
@@feedarmy It looks like the Google Merchant Center Page as updated to Google Merchant Center Next and I am not able to find feed rules anymore.
Sorry, I figure out how to switch it back to traditional.
@@BroussardCollection Great you found the option to revert to Classic.
Hello. Very helpful video. Would you mind explaining where did the number at 4:14 come from?
That is called a regular expression. You can search online to find more different examples of codes. This one in particular, does not validate the barcode, but does check if its between 12 to 14 characters long, and if its a number.
Thank you Emmanuel.. This is great, l have subscribed and l will be following your work 😀
Pleasure and thank you for subscribing.
Thanks for the reply! I'm assuming Google thinks those specific products do require a GTIN either way. Great video btw :)

This is exactly what I was looking for. Brilliant work. How we can do it for Invalid value for category [price]
I see you already found the solution in my other video.
You are also not allowed to buy barcodes, if you are not the manufacturer.
would I do the same process to Local Feed Partnership? I have content API and Local feed partnership appearing on my merchant. Please help me.
Attribute:
identifier exists
If gtin has no value ›
Set to: No
That is correct.
Thank you very much!

Is there any reason why I can't see (Prepend/Append/find/replace/Advanced Operators on my merchant centre which is not allowing me to click ok, am I missing something?
Consider using a custom attribute.
As a reseller, I need to get GTIN from the manufacturer?
Correct, or simply look at the packaging, the barcode is always stamped on the product.
Can I use these rules for branded products?
I am facing Limited performance due to missing value [gtin] and Incorrect value [identifier exists]
Brand or unbranded, it does not matter, from the perspective of the feed rule. The outcome, may not be the desired result. But that is not dependend on the feed rules, but your data and what you sell.
This is not working in my merchant center, I set all the feed rules but still these problems appears there. Also my GMC account suspended

hi... is there a way to buy past this if I'm dropshipping from aliexpress ? aliexpress items don't have a GTIN or ASIN. and merchant is asking for one

If you have submitted product information incorrectly, yes it's possible, but rare. Make sure that the product identifiers, meaning Brand, GTIN, MPN and Identifier Exists values are accurate. By checking GMC > products > all products > click on your products > scroll to the bottom and view the final attributes.
How long does it take for these barcode notifications to come out after doing this?
If done correctly, half an hour to 24 hours.
@@feedarmy it worked, thank you very much! But I added new products and realized that they are still asking for Gtin and Brand, do I have to wait more or is there nothing to do?
@@eduardodossantos2900 If the rules are applied correctly, they should apply to new products. If that is not the case. Check the final attributes in the product info section to check the data.
this is the message showing under Incorrect value: identifier exists, You’ve submitted a value of False for the [identifier_exists] attribute for this product but this product has an internationally recognized unique identifier. Submit a valid GTIN, and either set this value to True or remove this value to resolve this issue.
Make sure your products meet the following requirements
Don’t submit the value False for the Identifier exists attribute when there is a valid GTIN for the product
Only use a GTIN that has been assigned by the manufacturers of the product
can you suggest please
If Google says it has a barcode, then you need to add a barcode. Setting the details to false will not resolve the issue. The rule is that if a manufacturer has assigned a barcode, you the reseller, must add this info.
So, I was able to use this info for some of the products, but not all of them. What am I doing wrong? I would've sent a snipit, but it won't let me paste here. Basically, for anything that's blank now, it's requiring a GTIN be put in. The "identifer exists" isn't overriding the requirement to enter it with the "No" that set it to.

Where is the "Feed editor" in Google Merchant NEXT ??? - I don't have this functionality. And I don't want go back to Google Merchant Classics, asthere pops up a warning, that all data get lost. - I have now 370 products in shopify, for Google Merchant, its 4,070 single product pages (because of variants by size, color, material). The whole Shop is flagged "red" because of Google's policy, citation "Limited performance due to missing identifiers [gtin, mpn, brand]". I contacted Google, but no help. I only got the answer: We cant do anything. Its the system which decides. A nightmare. - Of course I don't have mpn, in my shopify product pages I use the original fulfillment service of the product (as I only deliver the print-on-demand design), e.g. Printify. And of course I don't have any mpn number, only the SKU (Stock Keeping Unit) number, which is automatically generated by the system. - This video is 2 years old. How to get these new Feeds added ???
You will need to wait till the end of the summer for GMC Next to have feed rules, considering you don't want to migrate to GMC Classic (no data will be lost, it's just a message to protect Google).
It's not working anymore
This can mean that Google is expecting a barcode. This can happen when Google knows there is a barcode, It belongs to a category where it is required or other merchants have added a barcode. In this case I recommend double checking the packaging for barcodes.
