hi. thank you for the vid. problem i have is theres like 4 different options! so theres no obvious bar code but there numbers, and there about 10, 11, 12 long. ive no idea which is the GTIN and impossible to get in touch with the china manufacturer. and all the opions of those numbers to chose are all the same on each item. please advise. thsk
Hmm. Scan each one, then search Google for the number and see what comes up? GTINs are typically 14 digits long, although they can be shorter or longer depending on the specific product and the system in which it is used. See: tillison.co.uk/blog/gtin-google-shopping/
Thank you for your quick reply. finding it difficult to scan them. one the numbers is 18807135665.... so now changed it to 1526002599.... and refreshed the google prod sheet... i guess i wait another wklor so and see. then try the final one 2206393621!
Hi, I am a small business and some of my products are digital artwork like Animated GIFs and JPEG files, the JPEG files I sell as Wallpapers for Phones for example. Would this be considered a “one-of-a kind product with no identifier”? Do you have any advice for this type of product when setting it up on Google Merchant? Thank you.
Products which you make only have a GTIN if you register a GTIN. If you do not register a GTIN (EAN for the UK), then leave that field blank and set Identifier exists as FALSE.
I included a Barcode number from a photo of the box of the product (so I know that that is the actual barcode for that product) which the supplier took a closeup photo for me and I included it in my GMC product data. Then I got an invalid GTIN. So I took it out. Now I don't know what to do as my product has still that Missing Identifier Limited Performance classification.
We sell peptides and this type of product does not have gtin. What should I do? Should I select the option This is a one-of-a-kind or vintage product with no identifier ? If I choose it, is there a possibility of misrepresentation and the account will be suspended?
@@tillison When GTIN is empty I have a notification it say " Limited performance due to missing identifiers [gtin, mpn, brand]" Add a brand and either a GTIN or MPN. If this product is one-of-a-kind or vintage, you don't need to add an identifier.
Ah, OK. You need to have 2 of the 3 identifiers, sorry. If there's no GTIN, you should still populate Brand and MPN. Brand can be your own, if you wish. MPN can be your own unique reference code The annoying thing is, "limited" by how much? There's no quantifiable limitation with this. It could be 40% limited, or 80% or 1%. I'd update the Brand and MPN values, set identifier exists as 'no' and see what happens. If your listings are showing in Google Shopping Ads and/or organic listings, you're almost certainly good to go and this isn't a huge issue - invest your time and effort on product pages to increase conversion rate instead of sweating this one 😀
We'd need to see the data, but it could be; - GTINs are incorrect - GTINs are new and Google doesn't have them in their system yet, so can't validate them
Basically am a freelancer who is into marketing and promotion, I was trying to run a Google ads for a client who is a Shopify dropshipper but all the products got disapproved because of gtin mostly but I can't find the gtin in the store product and basically tired of the whole thing. Can you bail me out here
Access to GTINs is an issue we come across regularly with dropshipping. The product source/manufacturer should be able to provide those, and we're always amazed why they don't make this easier. We'd need to take a look to give you feedback. Contact the team at tillison.co.uk and we'll see what we can work out.
Helpful video! I’m hesitant at putting in a GTIN for some of my products because google will use that to identify EVERY OTHER seller selling that product. Then it’s just a race to the bottom with price. The customer can just choose the cheapest store selling that product.
Hello, what if you are a small business that made the products and there are variations of the product; what GTIN do you use? Also, there's an option to add a GTIN, brand or MPN. Could you please explain brand and MPN?
If it's your own digital product and you haven't registered a GTIN, then don't use one. Set identifier_exists as No. If it's someone else's digital product and there is a GTIN, you must use that.
If there is no GTIN for the product, you don't need to fill in that field. If there is a GTIN and you don't provide it in your data, Google will limit the reach of your ads.
I create my own Photoshop designs and have them printed on canvas. I sell the printed canvases on my website. Do I need a GTIN for these products? Thank you!
We'd need to see the specific issue to advise on this - the Misrepresentation issue happens more than it should. Contact the team via tillison.co.uk and they'll do what they can to help 👍
You should add it to your source data ideally - in the backend of your website. How you add it there depends on the platform your site is built on. There are multiple other ways too; supplemental feed or manually adding it in Merchant Centre.
Then the product may not have one. Leave the GTIN empty or just don't use the attribute at all. If you're then getting an alert from Google, appeal to support. If the product does have a GTIN issued, you'll need to find it. If it doesn't have one issued, Google support should uphold your appeal.
Add rules with Merchant Centre Next? Yes, this concerned us too - outright panic, actually. Google has promised that it is coming soon. For now, revert to the normal Merchant Centre and you'll be able to set rules. Later, you'll be able to move the Next.
@@tillison Yes sir. We've been fine on merchant centre next until we uploaded a product which required GTIN. We've since used an app on Shopify to resolve the issue but since then we have a "misrepresentation" issue that in all honesty doesn't seem like it will ever be resolved😔
@@Ant_Ertainment oh, man. That damned "misrepresentation" issue can be a nightmare. Once Google's system triggers it, it very difficult to get anyone in support to help resolve it. Let us know how you get on with it?

Hello, I make my own art, and it's not a unique design, but Google still requests this? Thanks any advice would be appreciated 😊
For products you make yourself, there is no GTIN.
Set [identifier-exists] as "no". That should solve the problem.
Hi, we sell bundles and multipack, what GTIN shoud we use? Thank you for answerign.
If the multipack/bundle has a GTIN, you should use that. If it doesn't have a GTIN, I would try identifier_exists:no and leave the GTIN empty.

It is normal for the GTIN to be the barcode. Could that particular barcode be something other than the GTIN?

That's pretty much why Google does it. If you don't include the GTIN though, you're not even in that race 😕

If you made the products, no GTIN needed for any of the products.
MPN is your part number.
Brand is your brand.
Simple 👍
what about digital products, what GTIN should we use?

Where do you find the gtin from the supplier, do you ask them? I cant find it for my supplier
The GTIN is on the barcode on the product and the packaging, usually. If you don't physically have the product, ask your supplier for it.
We are dropshippers , should we buy GTIN ?
If the products you're drop shipping have GTINs, you should use them. If they don't have them already, you don't need them.
What if the supplier selling the product does not have the GTIN number?
If the product has a GTIN, it will generally be on the barcode on the box or packaging. If your supplier doesn't have that, try the manufacturer?
