I was going to get a basic one but bought Topdon instead based on your review. Thanks man!
Great suggestion having a tester. I used the big resistive load tester for years but the meter got smashed. Replaced with an Autool BT360. Amazing what these little testers can do.
Thanks for doing that video review.
Good video I have the foxwell BT705 and the foxwell BT780 model testers they work well i also have the load tester i have never used the topdon units they have a new bt200 model for topdon now does both 12v and 24v and its 65 bucks there not bad thinking of testing the new bt200 model from topdon
There is no substitute for the carbon pile load tester. The Topdon and Snap-On testers can’t simulate a real load of several hundred amps but they can reveal health indication aside from that.
I agree they all work. But I’d rather have something that gives me some wiggle room (under-represents a battery) than one which incorrectly over estimates it’s ability.
Nothing better than a good old Carbon Pile Tester, 15 sec at 1/2 the rated CCA and no lower than 9.6 Volts for a 12 Acid Battery and sometimes do it twice after a few minutes to weed out a bad one. Conductive Tests are not nearly as good because of too many false Positives and Negatives, I go through it everyday. Customers don't really care about internal resistance, just want to know if it's good. I have this Tester only because it came with a Scanner I bought recently and it is round about ok. I tried it on a Motorcycle battery that was good but it kept saying I didn't have a good connection, But I did. Put it on another shop conductive tester and it showed
it was good, also tried a Carbon Pile Tester and also showed good. So this Tester IS hit and miss.
On a vehicle with an alternator , don't forget to do a ripple voltage test . That would show if the diodes are leaking which would drain the battery . Topdon has that test .
Is it in the cranking test?
@@littlereptilian7580 Its under charging test
Is it worth the extra money getting the bt100 over the ab101. What is the difference?
Which u prefer launch bst 860,foxwell bt 705 or topdon bt 200 as quality and accuracy?
I dont have any experience with those other brands. The BT works well
I’ve been in the market for a battery tester , I’ve used the load tester before ( loaned to me and returned ) but really didn’t like it .
Harbor freight sells both types but would rather not purchase from there , if it supports your channel I had rather purchase the one from amazon ,
I appreciate the support and its a good tester! It has a few more functions that I didnt mention in the video like ripple test, charging and starter tests. Its pretty comprehensive for the $
Load testing is good but most of them only load 100 amps. Most automotive starters I believe use 300 to 400 amps when cranking. Might give a false result in real world use.
CCA is cold cranking amps and CA is cranking amps. Please clarify. I notice you were calling cca cranking amps.
12.30 mega ohms
Yes... But... The tester has it misrepresented. M= Mega .. m= mili
Do not throw lead/acid car or motorcycle batteries into the trash!!!! They are 98% recyclable and need to be brought to a recycling center.
