Man, I think you've just saved me 500$ (which in Canadian money is like 1 million dollars). I already love the SM7 on my voice. I was kinda thinking an u87-type would do some kind of "magic". I finally just ordered their WA-73 preamp to replace my presonus eureka. That should be more than enough of an upgrade. Thanks!

Good info and dope video. The black is not really too different because Neumann also makes a Black U87ai

Love your channel. I use a sm7b or a NT1a on most vocals. The Rode if I need it brighter. I've been using an all tube mic pre which I won't say what because I want to find all I can but it is USA and 90's. I've also used a Sennheiser e945 which I was surprised on how good it sounded in the studio. Price doesn't make it better. Thank you

I'm wanting some of those Warm Audio Neve clones something serious! I'd really like to replace my Yamaha HS5's and get an sm7 first though!

Dude, the neve clones are absurd. I want 8 channels of them.

Hi Andrew! Did you ever tried it for Kick Out? I have doubts on getting the WA 87 or the 47fet. My idea is to use it on vocals and kick/mono room. Thanks

OK, so the WA-87 is never gonna sound like a U87Ai cos it follows the much earlier circuits of 50 years ago! So if you can get hold of a 50 year old Neumann it probably sounds warm and classic like that, given that there could be minor variations even among those incarnations like you noted. I guess if that is good enough for us then we can give the latest incarnations of the Neumanns a miss for marginally better outputs and sensitivities that can be made up with good mic pres? In that sense looks like the WA-87 is a great deal? Another upside could be that Warm Audio may well be using much better parts now (they claim quality parts like Cinemag output transformers etc) than 50 years ago to reproduce that sound, so that could be a better thing too?

I got the black one for the same reason. I don't want it looking like it's pretending to be something it's not. Just be great at what it it.

Love your channel- what happened to you visiting home studios like you used to? Are you taking a break from that because of Covid concerns and will come back to it? I love the mic in the video-I use a warm audio 47 for primary vocal routed to iD44 as an interface and ASP880 and ASP800 as preamps. I may need to add this mic as well :-) Thanks- you always cause me to spend more money lol.

I was currently thinking about getting this mic while I’m upping my studio gear. I have an at2020, ath-M50x headphones, and an Apollo Twin X rn. This mic seemed like a good investment, along w some acoustic treatment and studio monitors; but I was wondering since I’m only mixing vocals over two track beats will monitors really help or should I not get them?

Andrew Masters Lls was hoping for a more specific answer 😂, but I thank you . I’ll probably get them, I wanna give it everything I’ve got and really focus on just rapping and mixing, but I may decide to learn to make beats later on. Do you have any suggestions for a slightly bigger than 10x10 room? It’s ok if you don’t, I’ve been looking online all week
