Nice review! I went blind in purchasing this tablet last year around Black Friday and have been happy with the performance so far. I mainly use it for email/documents and RUclips. I have used it occasionally for light old school gaming like Bioshock 3 with no issues. The one issue I have with this tablet is the speakers. They could be louder and sound better but I have some bluetooth headphones that I use with the tablet. I often attach my 4k monitor to the micro hdmi port when I want to stream some videos. I had no idea that the type c ports supported video.

Looks like an "update" to my Chuwi Hi10Go (N4500/6GB RAM/100GB storage) that purchased a few years ago at a lower price too! It is a bit larger however (13" vs 10").
My Hi10 Go is still working, but a number of things about it that I hope don't plague the Hi10Max.
    1. Battery had to be replaced (I purchased one from a 3rd party).
    2. Keyboard with its pogo-style attachment failed (I replaced it with a small Arteck BT keyboard - no more wired connectors to worry about!).
    3. The pen (in my case, it's recharged via USB) scratches the plastic screen protector - I replaced the screen protector with a 3rd party one, and then just removed it entirely.
    4. Volume buttons stopped working properly - I just adjust the volume within Windows.
    5. Non-standard USB-C charger that charges immediately at 12V. Ended up destroying a BT speaker that was accidentally plugged into the charger.
    6. USB ports don't provide much power to external devices connected via USB.

I've reinstalled Windows but now it's saying no WiFi drivers found so I can't even get past the start up screen.
I can't find the drivers anywhere online, or also can't find out what WiFi card it has to find out what driver I need.
Could you have a look on the settings on yours please as I say I can't even get past start up so can't manually check what card it has.

  • @dlewis9760

Pity the back doesn't come off. When the battery goes, you can't replace it and may not be able to get to the storage and move it to something to copy it without possibly destroying the thing to get to them. I had a Chuwi tablet and the battery puffed up and destroyed the screen. Most likely user error as I had it on a stand and never turned it off. Power regulation should have taken care of that, but I doubt it did.
I have not had a laptop yet that didn't need a battery.

  • @jeremyjohnson8703

This tablet is a dream come true for me. It perfectly fits my niche, especially it's Linux compatibility. But the battery life is 100% a deal breaker. I'm frequently working away from an outlet for more than 3 hours which makes this tablet useless to me. :(
I'd pay $100 more for this tablet if it had reasonable battery life. I'm not even talking "all day" battery life...just enough to get an afternoon of work done. So it's a hard "no" for me even though I love the tablet.

This is impressive for the price. If my OnePlus Pad had a keyboard like that, it would be perfect. I'm not usually a fan of the N100, especially with only single channel memory, but it seems like it would get better battery life than 3-4 hours. It is very nice to see a windows tablet done right in this price range with a 3:2 aspect ratio. I may consider returning my Surface Pro 11 OLED with Snapdragon X Elite and replace it with this tablet instead for 1/4 of the price. All of my apps are accessed through RDP from my app server anyway, and I can game from my game streaming server, so the stepdown in performance wouldn't be that major --- but I would expect good battery life on an N100 no matter what the price. If this had a 120Hz option for an extra $100 or so, It'd be all over this though for sure!

  • @michael_c2

I tried a chuwi ubook in early 2020 but it had some kind of major flaw where the kickstand wouldn't hold up the device. I didn't see anyone else with the same issue though so it was peculiar but I got it through Amazon so it was an easy return..
I ended up just settling on a surface pro for twice the money. This time I'm not sure what I'll do next. You can make an argument that something like this and a steam deck which combined would still be less than a surface pro without the keyboard, could be an option

I have a Chuwi Mini-Book (disastrous release) and while mine is still functional, fully 50% of the initial release (part of an Indiegogo..kickstarter) failed with batteries bulging after a few months and other defects. I would never buy Chuwi again. Battery life makes it extremely difficult to recommend. Otherwise, you are getting what you pay for. But most people will need at least twice that SOT, and if you use this outdoors, 3 hours will become 2 hours and impractical. So, it's worth paying a bit more for something with sensible battery life.
