I'm 53 and have been using Bare Minerals for nearly two decades. I thought my aging skin wasn't working well with the mineral makeup and I moved to liquid. I hate liquid. Watched this video and didn't realize how wrong I was about the buffing process. It changed everything! Thanks for this! :)
Since being a teen I’ve always got pimples, acne prone skin and dry skin from using liquid foundation. So I never used foundation when I was young because I was so sensitive. So when they released this, it was the first ever foundation I used in years and I’m never turning back.
I have been using Bare Minerals makeup and their skin care line for 25 years,I wouldn't use anything else, I am 74 years old, you are a beautiful young lady,I am so glad I subscribed!!!
Thank you, Shelbey! I've been wearing BareMinerals loose foundation for 13 years and I am always surprised how little it is used on RUclips. It's a wonderful foundation and a lot of their other products are great as well. Applying to half of the face first is the best way to learn how much coverage you need. Great job, Shelbey!
I have used Bare Minerals for the past 20 years, back when the only way to purchase was QVC, then our local hospital gift shop started caring it. It was such an amazing thing and my sister and I fell in love. It was lovely to hear "you have such beautiful skin". Sadly the past few years I feel as if the product has changed. The foundation has a finer feel, a more powdery texture than creamy & breaks up on my skiing which it had never done before. I came across an older tub of it that I'd bought with a kit and was so happy to have found it. After trying multiple other powder foundations only IT came close but still wasn't my Bare Minerals. You make me want to wear it again but the tub I just purchased is very disappointing. I keep trying to reclaim that look. You and your makeup application is absolutely beautiful! Keep up the good work.
This is one of my favourites! I've used bare minerals for almost 20 years! I absolutely love it! I use the colour light and love to warm up my complexion with a little touch of sun or warmth! I also love using the cheek tints they are really beautiful! A little goes a long way x
Gorgeous!!! This video is still is useful 6 yrs later. I have bare minerals products but I RARELY wear makeup. However, now that I’m “older” I think some occasions call for it and I want to get a barely there look similar to this. Thanks for not taking this down. Love it so much and I can’t wait for my products to arrive and start trying again ❤❤❤❤
Oh she IS a spokesperson for them. That's very clear. She worked for them but past that, she doesn't need any foundation to look flawless. She's extremely young looking without a thing. Try Bare Minerals on someone in their 60's or 70's.
Thank you Shelby for your video! I am going to retry using Bare Minerals at age 62! I am one of those people who probably used way to much powder on my brush so I never liked the way it looked! Because of your video I went out and bought the foundation, brush and primer yesterday! Hoping I do well trying Bare Minerals again!
This video was so outrageously helpful! I've used Bare Minerals in the past about 5-6 years ago and now I'm using it all again! Thank you for the step by steps, you are so incredibly helpful. When I went into the store to buy my new BM set, the girl was so rushy, rude and not helpful at all. So glad I came upon your channel!
I’m hear from Emily Noel’s channel and this video just made me want to go out and re purchase ALL the bare minerals makeup! I had it 10 years ago and I guess I never did it justice! Thank you!
Hey Shelby, can you make a video speaking about the new shades in the original formula. I love how you described the warm natural shade being in between medium beige and golden medium when you made the barePro video. Could you please give us your take on where the new colors fall on the current shade range and your recommendations. Thanks for reminding us all why we love this foundation. Hugs from Ohio, Chris
My 1st ever foundation that wasn’t drugstore. Been using it for like 23-25yrs. I try all the new ones & still go back to bare minerals. I was using them when they were still bare essentials ID. Luv your southern accent lol makes me miss living in NC.
Thank you Thank you Thank you!!!!! for returning to your "roots" (LOL) so to speak. I have been following you for several years exclusively for your Bare Mineral videos. I love BM and it is the only foundation I use....actually the only foundation I have ever used. I am not a liquid/cream foundation kind of gal, hate the feel of it, etc. I have just started experimenting with the Complexion Rescue mainly for the SPF factor and the hydration.... But thank you for revisiting this topic. I always need to "remind" myself that I am using it correctly and I do receive compliments. Which is always nice!! There are not many videos out there on BM and am super happy that you still use BM.
I've been a Bare Minerals fan for years. Not enough people stress using the moisturizer with it. It is a must! I do skip the primer because I personally hate the way they feel.
Very nice and interesting video of how properly using BareMinerals, which convinced me one month ago to give an another try to the brand and since i've very nice comments on my skin . So thank you so much Shelbey !
I can't live without my mineral veil! Makes my face feel nice to the touch. I thought I had been the only one intimidated by warmth. So nice to see a video for the first time ever of someone who really understands Bare Minerals. I switched to Physician's Formula for a long time but it doesn't begin to compare with BM.
Yes! Love your BM vids! One trick I also like doing is to get a subtle dewy look by using a spritz bottle of aloe water to spray lightly on the face. Then with a sponge of a cushion foundation I pat it over lightly!
I remember I started using makeup with bare minerals and everyone always thought it was my skin that was naturally glowy and flawless...no one would believe I had on powder foundation. I still revert back to powder whenever I’m pushed for time and have to do my face super duper quick or while vacationing in humid weather. ..it’s just melts into your skin!
Hi Shelbey, many many moons ago, I was a fanatic Bare Minerals user, as new foundations came out, I then switch to different brands. However, I decided to go back to my first love, but prior to purchasing it again, I decided to surf RUclips for tutorials, hence the reason I found your channel, and boy, let me tell you....I’ve been applying it the wrong way 😔! So, I decided to go to Sephora and purchase the original BareMineral foundation and followed your instructions! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! You’ve made me a believer again, not only that but I couldn’t see my humongous pores and freeway of a finely after doing it the right way! Keep doing great videos!
I have had Bare Minerals for a few years but haven't worn it much because I always looked chalky. After watching this I decided to try again and buff more than I had been. OMG the difference. I love how it looks today. Hopefully this is not just a one off and I've finally sussed it. Thanks Shelby!!
You are the only advert Bare minerals ever need. So Beautiful. I'm so reaching for mine tomorrow morning, I fell out of love with it but I but I can see a reconciliation in sight. Fab tutorial.
I agree about the best and only person to represent BM....not too sure who the new gal is....but can't seem to even find a video from her that she actually uses BM....so wild. I think Ashley should be a spokes person for BM.....she's great.
I was so excited to see a new bareMinerals video from you. BareMinerals was the first foundation I ever used and I watched your channel to learn how to apply it so thank you!
I know this video is older but it took me 17 years of trying to find a bare minerals original formula shade that matched my skin correctly. Finally last weekend I got the perfect t shade thanks to the shade expansion. I’m so happy to now add more to my collection! Great video.
I have worn bareminerals powder for eleven years and I never got the glowy look you did. Thanks for doing this video because it really helps me to know how to apply the makeup better!
Rachel King the original foundation contains mica which gives you that "glowy" appearance. But if you don't buff it in enough it will just look like powder sitting all over your face. You almost want it to become "one with the skin" if that makes sense (corny but true lol)
You make it look SO beautiful! I used the original for years till the matte came out, because I had some itching with the original that the matte seemed to remedy. I got away from the powder and was using the liquid for quite awhile but got tired of all that! I am back to my powder again and I save my Bare Pro for special occasions. It is SO nice to be back to my old faithful! I got SO much out of this video that I can practice to make mine look as beautiful as yours! Thank you for reminding me of why I was so faithful for so long, and why I am glad I am back!
As a new makeup artist I am still learning. I get asked questions about mineral powder foundation. I shared your video on my FB page for my clients. Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
Another great alternative to a loose highlighter is their loose eyeshadow in the shade Queen Phyllis! It’s the PERFECT shade, such a stunning one for multi-use
I've been using bare minerals for years and there is absolutely no other product like this!!! It has a beautiful finish it last longer than 8 hours and feels amazing on the skin. I also love the versatility of the foundation alone. Back in the day before all of the concealers came out the foundation itself was the concealer. Thst was when they promoted their brushes a lot, because with the flawless face brush you had normal coverage, full face brush was full coverage and when you used the concealer brush the foundation became the concealer. I wonder if people still use it that way??
The original BareMinerals powder foundation is a holy grail product for me. Glad to get some tips on making it look as great as possible from an expert!
Shelbey, I just wanted to tell you how much I enjoy your videos. It is so refreshing to have instruction on techniques that are simple and achieve a "you, but better" look as opposed to a very made-up and overdone appearance. I am 40 and the mom of 3 little girls, but I still want to look polished and feel pretty. Your videos and personality are very approachable and appropriate for all ages. And of course, you are just gorgeous! THANK YOU!
I wish I'd had a video like this to teach me the correct way to use BM powder foundation years ago, when I first tried it. I felt it didn't cover the imperfections I have, (ruddy tone, with dark spots here and there) but I discovered that using more product is definitely NOT the way to go! I never blended it as thoroughly as you've shown here, either. I think I'll get some new product, and see if it works better for me, now that I know the RIGHT way to apply it. 🤞 Thanks!
I love my Bare Minerals powder foundation!!! It's everything you say it is! It gives the most natural " your skin but better" look. No one would guess I'm wearing foundation. I love your tutorials and recommend them to people wanting to try this line. You look gorgeous!
I finally bought the beautiful finish brush and I noticed a huge difference in application. I was using the RT brush for the longest time and I just wasn’t happy with how it looked on my skin but I finally bit the bullet and bought it and I feel like it melts the powder into the skin better! And faster bc it has more surface area too! Game changer!
My mouth literally dropped after I saw how amazing and natural the foundation looked buffed into your skin!! I’ve had normal to dry skin, so I’ve always been wary of trying powder foundations, but I did notice that the bare minerals powder foundation always had amazing reviews for years. And now I know the proper technique to get it the way I want it to look, so I’m excited to go out and get this and give it a try!! New subbie :)
I've been a religious user of BM for over 20 years (did I really just say that?!) and there really is no comparison to it, even among other mineral makeups. I love seeing people make new videos with it and yours looks fabulous! It also reminded me that it's nearing time to break out the hydrating tinted MV and tropical radiance for warmer weather, and that makes me deliriously happy.
I found your channel about 2 years ago searching for instructions on how to use bareMinerals. Your video was my first makeup related video that I watched. 👍🏽
Your video on how to use the bareMinerals starter kit is what brought me to your channel, I've been a subscriber ever since. Love love love your channel!!
I'm glad you shared this. I've always wanted to try Bare Minerals but I never did. I don't like cream foundations though, so I think I will give it a try.
I appreciate your details on applying the powder foundation. I now know why mine would look cakey. I was overusing like you said and didn't buff long enough! Thank you for excellent explanations!
Lovvvvvvved this video! Such a great alternative for people with more sensitive or acne prone skin as well! I would love to see a video with the BM loose eyeshadows and how you best apply them and/or your favorite colors!
OH MY GOODNESS! You make that makeup look amazing! I love bare minerals makeup but I think now I’m going to love it even more. I’m 52 years old and really struggle with doing mature makeup. Any tips you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much for doing this video. Very informative! Hugs to you & have a blessed day! 🤗💕💄
So glad I found this video!! I just recently bought their original foundation and was trying to find a video that gave proper instructions on how to use it. You're an angel 😭❤
Gorgeous results wow!! I’m back researching mineral makeup due to eczema and sensitive skin, liquids just aren’t doing me any favors. Thank you so much for sharing your technique!
great video. thank you for posting and explaining. I have oily skin and I've tried with powder but have failed. so I'll use your tips and see what happens!
I used to stay quiet about my obsession with powder foundations, because all my girl friends & family are hardcore into liquids & have been trying to convert me since. But powders just have a very special place in my heart due to their skin like appearance and it being soo lightweight *sigh* #obsessed new subbie ♥
Love love love! I'm so sick of the liquid cakey feeling I get when I wear regular foundation, I've been thinking of bare minerals and I'm so going to buy it! Thank you
Thank you for this video! I have the kit but haven't messed with it very much because I just didn't know how to use it. I will definitely try it out now!
This video helped me so much bc I always found my foundation looked better after a hour or so but I def didn’t buff enough so I guess it would start melting in my skin. Thanks so much so helpful
You remind me why i LOVE mineral makeup so much. This sis so beautiful, so stunning ... thank you xxxxx
Wayne Goss Well.. I'm dying now.. thanks you handsome devil!! Xo

Yes girl they’re fantastic. Good for your skin too!! 💖
But I'm not sure which powder color is suitable for me :(
I have been using Bare Minerals makeup and their skin care line for 25 years,I wouldn't use anything else, I am 74 years old, you are a beautiful young lady,I am so glad I subscribed!!!
I've used Bareminerals for 23 years...I am so glad I watched this video! I'm definitely under-buffing,with 4 kids and a new Grandson, always in a rush
Thank you, Shelbey!

Totally agree!!!!!
Bc it’s awful lol
You don't look powdery and matt in a bad way at all. You look fresh and nice.
MaddiedeVillada thank you! That's the point :) :)

You should be a spokesmodel for Bare MInerals. You look amazing!!
I totally agree!, Awesome, you should be a spokesmodel for be there's no one better! 😍 Luv the look you created.
Well she practically is. Nothing but good things to say. I only wish that I had the manual dexterity it takes to do something like this🤹♀️☺
I agree!! I love her!
They have Nikki Deroest of Roen Beauty and Hailey Baldwin Bieber as celebrity brand ambassadors, as well as a team of other leading ladies currently.
Oh she IS a spokesperson for them. That's very clear. She worked for them but past that, she doesn't need any foundation to look flawless. She's extremely young looking without a thing. Try Bare Minerals on someone in their 60's or 70's.

Melody N. How did you like it? Does it minimize fine lines?
The honesty in the description box kills me... In the best way possible. Love ur honesty Shelbey
Omg game-changer!! I’ve been overusing! I tried it this morning and was shocked how much coverage I got with so little product. Thank you!!

I often wear CR under Original Foundation for added hydration! :) Thanks for watching!
I can’t believe you got that look with just powered foundation. I love it 😍 very natural and beautiful!!!

This is by far the best bare minerals tutorial. Thank you so much!
I am so repurchasing this oldie but goodie! Thanks doll for keeping it simple, natural, and oh so beautiful!

Thank you for posting a powder foundation video! Everyone on RUclips seems to only use liquid!
Hi Shelbey, many many moons ago, I was a fanatic Bare Minerals user, as new foundations came out, I then switch to different brands. I have had Bare Minerals for a few years but haven't worn it much because I always looked chalky. After watching this I decided to try again and buff more than I had been. OMG the difference. I love how it looks today. Hopefully this is not just a one off and I've finally sussed it. Thanks Shelby!!
Thank god you've made another BM video! 🙌🏼 Worn it religiously for 8 years and the reason I subscribed, please make more!
I will definitely incorporate more!
You are the only advert Bare minerals ever need. So Beautiful. I'm so reaching for mine tomorrow morning, I fell out of love with it but I but I can see a reconciliation in sight. Fab tutorial.
:) So great to hear! Hope you fall back in love!
I agree about the best and only person to represent BM....not too sure who the new gal is....but can't seem to even find a video from her that she actually uses BM....so wild. I think Ashley should be a spokes person for BM.....she's great.

You look so insanely glowy and pretty with BM foundation! Gorgeous and you've just convinced me to pick it up and try it myself
This is probably the only truly helpful powder foundation video I’ve found on RUclips. Thank you SO MUCH! ❤️
Probably the best makeup tutorial I’ve ever seen. THIS GIRL KNOWS HOW TO DO MAKEUP✔️
The best poster girl for Bare Minerals that there is! Your skin look so flawless and so radiant - beautiful!
Another great alternative to a loose highlighter is their loose eyeshadow in the shade Queen Phyllis! It’s the PERFECT shade, such a stunning one for multi-use
Taking this video to bareminerals store and telling them "make my skin look like hers!"🤣❤ thank you!!!
I've been using bare minerals for years and there is absolutely no other product like this!!! It has a beautiful finish it last longer than 8 hours and feels amazing on the skin. I also love the versatility of the foundation alone. Back in the day before all of the concealers came out the foundation itself was the concealer. I wonder if people still use it that way??
You're probably one of the prettiest youtubers ever. Thanks for the advice I really needed it! Xoxo
The original BareMinerals powder foundation is a holy grail product for me. Glad to get some tips on making it look as great as possible from an expert!

Thanks so much! I was totally missing the point that you have to buff so much. What a difference!
This look is gorgeous! Can't believe you used all powders for it.
Ginny Burley and it's so easy!
I used this all the time years ago but I didn’t use it like this! I want to try it again now! Thank you for being so thorough
I am in love with this foundation. I avoid the creams , liquids etc. fun and easy way to wear make up everyday!!! Amazing stuff
Ohh wowwww!!! I must admit that you have done tremendous work here... I wonder how can someone be so specific... Wonderful job... 👍
It’s so hard to find a good quality video of people talking about bare minerals! Loved this!!
You look stunning. I can't decide if I actually need a bare minerals primer and the veil!!!
Omg loving how light and natural this makeup is, that’s my kind of makeup I love in my face!! Gonna try it soon
Thank you, Shelby- came across this video- already had bare minerals in stock- broke it out and used your technique… ❤❤❤
This is just a really simple and beautiful look!
Thanks so much!
Shelbey Ashburn is it okay to use the original formula on acne prone skin? or would you recommend the matte version? thank
I could definitely tell the difference buffing made. Great video.
I found your channel about 2 years ago searching for instructions on how to use bareMinerals. Your video was my first makeup related video that I watched. 👍🏽
I loved your BM vids back in the day. You were the Princess of BM. Thanks for your time!
It looks more natural then the typical "no makeup" videos. Love it!
Your bareminerals videos is how I found your channel. I still love the brand and wear their products daily!
Wow just found this old video lol . I used to love to go to Bare Minerals store and pick things out . Brings back old memories
Your video on how to use the bareMinerals starter kit is what brought me to your channel, I've been a subscriber ever since. Love love love your channel!!
So awesome! :)
Kelly Carter me too!!
same here!
My favorite BM blush is Charmed & the fact they have a medium tan shade in foundation & it's my perfect match.
Great video! Bare minerals is still so underrated on RUclips, but I love it, and love these tips! Thank you!
I'm glad you shared this. I've always wanted to try Bare Minerals but I never did. I don't like cream foundations though, so I think I will give it a try.
very impressive. you speak so well and easy. your makeup is gorgeous and so are you!
Girl your hair color looks sooooo good! It's looks natural and untreated. It really complement your skin tone
I came here after watching EmilyNoel83’s video and how much she suggested watching you.
iRon meee too
I appreciate your details on applying the powder foundation. I now know why mine would look cakey. I was overusing like you said and didn't buff long enough! Thank you for excellent explanations!
Mu Ch glad to help!!
I just bought this product for the first time and I threw it on my face and hated it. I'm so glad I found your videos so I can try it again. Thank you
Wonderful demonstration, I’ve been wearing and loving for years. I’m excited to try new techniques tomorrow morning. Thank you.
i struggled with applying powder foundation. Not anymore, thank you 😘💌
Lovvvvvvved this video! Such a great alternative for people with more sensitive or acne prone skin as well! I would love to see a video with the BM loose eyeshadows and how you best apply them and/or your favorite colors!
Love the look! I use all these products exactly the way you do and have for years! People always compliment me when I'm wearing bare minerals.
Okay.....this was magic.....I absolutely need to give this a try
So glad I found this video!! I just recently bought their original foundation and was trying to find a video that gave proper instructions on how to use it. You're an angel 😭❤
This minerals powder foundation fits you so good!
Best video on powder foundation... I love how HD the quality is, I can really see the before/after
Gorgeous results wow!!
Thank you!
Love love love! I'm so sick of the liquid cakey feeling I get when I wear regular foundation, I've been thinking of bare minerals and I'm so going to buy it! Thank you
it is amazing how you made powder foundation look so good.
I will try out this method to .you are gorgeous with or without makeup products ..
Oh my gosh!! I still remember watching your video back when you had auburn hair! You're still so beautiful ❤️
Thank you for this video! I have the kit but haven't messed with it very much because I just didn't know how to use it. I will definitely try it out now!
Hi I found this very helpful. Clear with good demonstrations and the finished look was really nice. Thank you
very helpful video... I am going to re-try the product and rely on this video, not the staff at Sephora who gave me bad advice. Thank you!
This video helped me so much bc I always found my foundation looked better after a hour or so but I def didn’t buff enough so I guess it would start melting in my skin. Thanks so much so helpful
Thank you!! Never got it to work and tried manyyyy times over the years. I just bought it again in my faux tan shade and will try with your method ☺️
