- This is Kacee's first time watching reaction to the movie "Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (1995)". Legendary pet detective Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) returns for another adventure when he's coerced out of retirement while on a soul-searching retreat in the Himalayas. He must now retrieve an endangered white bat from a village located in Africa. The sacred animal was offered up as a wedding dowry from the Wachootoo prince to the Wachati princess, and, if Ace can't track down the culprit behind the kidnapping in time, civil war will break out between the two rival tribes.

The Rhino scene will be forever seared in my head as one of the funniest things I've seen

The roar noise he does when he gets up to his shoulders makes me lose it every time 😅
I was too young to see this movie in a cinema but I heard that some people felt very uncomfortable when they saw that scene 😂

The scene where he punches the Monopoly guy and says, "Do not pass go, do not collect $200" might have been the first time in my life that I remember laughing until I cried.
That Rhino scene was the most memorable part of the movie for me. I saw this when I was 8 years old and I still can't stop laughing everytime I see that scene.
This movie got me through college. When I was stressed, I'd watch this. Others drank, I laughed.
I love how sad she was during the raccoon scene. Totally missing the Cliffhanger reference 😂😂😂

I must have watched this movie half a dozen times at least before ever seeing Cliffhanger! The intro had me dying haha
I think you have to be at least 40, or maybe 35, to understand the reference.
Sadly, most of us remember the raccoon scene over the intro to Cliffhanger.
The Rhino scene is just legendary in comedy.
As a personal note I also love the Monster Truck scene.
The rhino birth scene is by far the best and funniest scene out of the whole movie! LOL 🤣
The opening scene is a reference to Cliffhanger, a classic Stallone action movie. You should watch that too. With that said, it's a bit dark scene for this movie.

@@Lord_Raptor Yeah, the military had to retire those spy Rhinos because of the heating problem.
As a kid I had both this and the first one on VHS, and out of them, this is the one that I preferred watching over the other, this is the one me, my brother, and my nephew quoted for so many years, it's definitely a more interesting story in my view as well, not that the first had a bad story or anything I'm not saying that, and the fact that Jim Carrey doesn't do sequels often shows that he had to like this one to some degree

I suppose Ace learned to get over his chiroptophobia (fear of bats).
Oh, and the ones with dog/fox faces are known as fruit bats or megabats or flying foxes. Most other bats, however, have completely different faces, such as vampire bats, vesper bats, hammer-headed bats, bulldog bats, and more.

While I don't think most think this one is better than the first one, there are certainly a lot of people who like this one significantly more
Out of comedies, Hot Shots 2 comes to mind where most people tend to prefer 2 over 1. The naked gun series is also another one that seems to split people pretty evenly between 1st & 2nd, and even the 3rd one has quite a bit of support 🤔
I still remember watching this for the first time on telly. I was about 9-10. My parents were out on some local dance event and my sister and I were left with our grandma at home. Back in the day we used to record "worthy" movies on cassettes so that we can re-watch later. It really paid off for this film, because we could barely stop crying from laughter. Once it was over we watched it again and stopped the VHS each time we laughed, because there were parts we missed the first time around from laughing too hard..
I can't think of another movie I can place this well and it is all due to the writing and Jim Carrey. Safe to say his behaviour rubbed off on me 😀
A couple of movies that were like that for me -- missing significant portions due to laughter -- were Bringing Up Baby and Airplane!

That first scene when the racoon falls is a reference in the movie Cliffhanger.
I got to be an extra in Ace Ventura Jr, the third movie. Was super disappointed when I realized I wasn't going to meet Jim Carey, but I did get $80 a day, which was a lot for a kid.
Almost certainly coincidental, but this did release just a few months after Jim portrayed The Riddler in Batman Forever, so a fear of Bat-related things might not be too far outside realm of possibility xD !

2:20 the funny thing is in the Grinch movie he stole a yodeler’s outfit and wore similar to what Ace is wearing here. The Racoon was on a plane that crashed nearby. That scene was from Cliffhanger. 5:42 Jim Carrey adlibbed the song. He had actually forgotten his lines so he just started singing. 8:44 Jim didn’t like this about the movie. He tried to get it changed to Ace being allergic to bats instead afraid of them. He didn’t really want to do the movie but was under contract to do it and his contract was half the budget. A friend of his suggested he negotiate that fee since he didn’t want to do the film partly cause he didn’t want to be typecast as Ace Ventura. Most of the heads in the room were fake animals as the director didn’t condone killing endangered animals especially for sport. Jim improvised the sneeze when he met the tribe.
This has to be my favorite of Ace Ventura, my family and i watched this movie numerous. Jim Carey gave us so much joy and laughter it's a shame there's no Oscar for best comedic actor but I think in all our hearts he doesn't need one. He's bigger than that.

Imo Ace Ventura Pet Detective is the best out of Ace Ventura Pet Detective and Ace Ventura When Nature Calls. However Ace Ventura Pet Detective When Nature Calls is still a great , hilarious movie though, but my personal favourite is definitely "Ace Ventura Pet Detective"
I love the scene at the end of Ace Ventura When Nature Callls with the man and the gorilla in the jungle at the end 😂, just like Ace Ventura (Jim Carrey) And Melissa Robinson (Courtney Cox) in 🛌 on Ace Ventura Pet Detective . As Ace Ventura would do 😏.
My other favourite scene on Ace Ventura When Nature Calls is when he sings Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (which I used to watch in my childhood growing up, great childhood memories)
Did you know when Jim Carey aka Ace Ventura sings Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, that was improvised by Jim Carrey because he forgot his actual lines in that scene and they decide to keep it in Ace Ventura When Nature Calls movie.

When I started secondary/high school, on one of the movie channels here, they were showing it every day after school, so there was a period of time when I'd get home from school and watch this movie every day for about a month while eating a sandwich lol.
2:48 Actually, to be pedantic about it: Although raccoons do have agile and effective hands, they don't have opposable thumbs. It's my understanding that that's why they'll often use two hands for things (like one stealing dog food in the clip you inserted).
Bats and dragonflies are good to have around in the summer because they eat mosquitoes.
