      I saw Richard Hatch play a "baddie" (a demented knife-weiding serial killer) in 'TJ.Hooker', and hoped I'd see him in other shows, as another "good guy" so welcomed his role beside "Mike Stone" in "Streets" but was sorry the series didn't go on to let him really get into the role, as Michael Douglas had... Hey! I'm from Heidelberg. The former headquarters of the US Army in Europe.
      The facilities in Frankfurt closed in 2005 and the Heidelberg Garrison moved to Wiesbaden.
      I think it's sad that out of all Army bases in Germany they closed down Heidelberg. After the end of the cold war and German unification most US troops left Germany. But there are still many left, under NATO status. Why out of all installations did they have to leave Heidelberg? It was the most popular installation among US military personnel.
      From time to time we still visit the Ramstein Air Base with our American friends _(only two families we know are still living in Germany)._ The base is huge, like a small town, including a mall. But it's just not the same...
      Back in the days, the commissary was like a wonderland to me. The variety of groceries was just awesome! Today most things are also available at German supermarkets/grocery stores. No big difference. But I'm still looking for affordable grape soda and root beer today.

    • @yannick245
      @yannick245 Год назад

      @@sabine4759 Yeah, as a German kid _(born and raised in Heidelberg),_ I never saw these _"buckets"_ of ice cream before. Eating with this wooden spoon/stick, that doctors use, when checking your throat. And the Americans were buying a bucket all for themselves. But they also threw cups away, although not empty. We would never throw food away.
      But yeah, for me it was Dr. Pepper, grape soda and root beer! My sister was the ice lover.
      Last week I saw that the same German company that introduced grape soda and root beer, are now selling cans again for €1.99. When they first came on the market, it was €0.99. For two bucks I get imported ones, at my Arab fruit/vegetable shop! At TEDI a chain like a $1 store I'm even paying only €1.40.
      Drinks are extremely are extremely expensive here.
      If I'm buying a can of _"Barr"_ bubble gum taste soda, here at the supermarket for €1.XX, I get jealous of the British. On the can it says 0.59£, two cans £1.
      Where are you from?
      It was so interesting that the Army is so diverse. Guys from Key West, Florida , Boise Idaho, San Diego, California , Anchorage, Alaska, Bismarck North Dakota etc. etc. were all wearing the same uniform. And many Black men! Because of this we had many mixed kids _(I think mixed babies are especially cute)._ Then speaking our local dialect, haha.
      Heidelberg also became the birthplace of German hip hop and rap music. Due to the influence of American soldiers.
      Now Germany is very, very diverse too. And it doesn't stop. Our borders are open. In my city I'm basically already the minority. But that's another subject.
      I really miss the Americans and I don't know why they gave up the Heidelberg/Mannheim/Schwetzingen bases. They had everything, including the largest US military prison overseas. And the soldiers and officers _(who often had houses outside the bases)_ loved Heidelberg. I heard that it was the most preferred/popular base overseas!
      Instead they moved to, in parts, to Wiesbaden! Which is a nice city too, but come on!?
      In 2002, there were plans to build a mall, comparable to the one in Ramstein now. But Obama erased us from the map.
      Btw: They held the fair again this year! On the grounds of the Campbell barracks. But I didn't go.

Because that's where the Chemistry was with his partners. For example Starskey and Hutch. If they had Starkey and no hutch, then the that T.V-movie would be no good. I remember George Glooney when left E.R. for big screen he had no problem coming back afterward to do the final series of E.R.

    I wish they would play the reruns of this series on METV or the other oldie stations. That seems to be one of the few that hasn't. That and Police Woman because who can't look at Angie Dickinson?

    Quinn Martin was five years dead when this TV movie premiered, but it is a relief to many of the fans of his shows that there was at least one QM regular in this movie - that being Darlene Carr.

    • @michaelpowell5266

      That stands the reason why Aaron Spelling produced the movie for television, since he had inherited Quinn Martin's programming library. Of course, Paul Henning had to confer with Spelling to get Barnaby Jones(Buddy Ebsen) in the Beverly Hillbillies feature film, where Jim Varney portrayed Jed Clampett!!!

    The scene at 51:17 is when Steve is being rushed to the hospital by Dan Robbins and Mike Stone in season 5 episode 2. Steve was shot in the chest by Barbara Ross played by Susan Dey best known as Laurie Partridge and Keller nearly died. I remember when I first saw those last episodes of Michael Douglas ala season 5 episodes 1 and 2 and when Steve was shot and is dying in Mike's arms in part 2 of season 5 episode 2 I was crying and I still do at times when I watch this episode because I once had a friend who was a police officer where I used to live and he was shot in the line of duty. Not in the chest like Inspector Keller but he was shot in the back and the bullet landed in the spine in between the C1 C2 vertebrae and he ended up a quadriplegic the same way as Christopher Reeve and he never walked again and passed away 9 years ago 2 days before Valentines Day. I will never forget reading about it in the paper either because when I read the headline in the state section of the paper when I was on break at work it said Funeral for former Missoula Police Officer to be held in 2 days and at first I thought it was a former police officer who retired and passed away but when I saw my friend's name I totally lost it and couldn't concentrate the rest of the day at work

    I liked the newer intro music. More mature.. majestic... mirroring the maturing times and city. Now with Google maps street view you can find all the locations from the original series, and see what they look like now. Like Steve's apartment on Union Street, etc.

    Streets of San Francisco needs a reboot......... and no, I am NOT talking about a reboot like how they ruined Hawaii 5-0 (ie. drowned in techno-babble, computers, cell-phones, and hacker shit).

    • @Retroscoop
      @Retroscoop 7 лет назад +5

      So what, a Street of San Francisco without Malden and without Douglas ? Isn't that a bit like a reunion concert of the Beatles without McCartney and Lennon ? What they could do is what the British did with Inspector Morse: making a series about young Morse, under the title Endeavour. Maybe there could be a reboot with a young Mike Stone, set in the 1950's, with nice old cars and slick mobsters etc. But a series in the 1970's without the two main figures... Hmmm... not really.

    • @missstargazer79
      @missstargazer79 7 лет назад +3

      I agree with you. Do not, under any circumstances, wish for a SOSF reboot/remake/retread/reanything. BARF. A 1950's Mike Stone show sounds intriguing however.
