I actually get teary-eyed every time I listen to Churchills speech about fighting the Germans to the better end’. He and Britain stood up to the Germans and won. “Never have so many owed so much to so few.” -Churchhill
An absolutely superb video. As an Englishman (60 years old), I have to firstly say thank you to the USA and to the great man that FDR was, to those brave US Marines but also to the blue-collar workers that built those ships, planes, tanks, munitions, and everything the lend/lease deal supplied. My mother and father who were teenagers during the war always had the greatest respect for the US and of course, Sir Winston Churchill whom my mother always referred to as Mr. Churchill. Without the help of the USA in those early years, I probably would not be here today.
@@patryan1375. I wouldn’t be so quick to criticise these people. Ask yourself, which is the only part of the UK that doesn’t have its own legislative body. Answer is ENGLAND! I’m afraid it’s a disunited ‘kingdom’ now. All this rhetoric of the British government’, the ‘government of the United Kingdom’ is just an invented entity which actually divides us and, should there ever be a TRUE ENGLISH Parliament, they would be bound by the Magna Carta which, I trust hasn’t escaped your attention; they can skirt around with their invented names.
Bull shit ! He was a poltrune, a gambler and a womanizer. And also a coward. Each time the Luftwaffe came over London, he had his Shofar drive him out to the Country until they passed. The man who unleashed the police on to the striking miners.
Winston Churchill was the greatest man that has ever lived. I’m shocked at King George 6th , He obviously was not very bright. In 1946 my mother taught me several of the great speeches. She also taught me to be very kind to Jews at school. This was the best film I’ve watched on the history of Churchill. I am 80. Thank you.
George VI was plenty bright and an extraordinary man of great courage. Just because he didn't care for Churchill at first (with good reason -- Churchill had sided with his wayward brother, the Duke of Windsor), he came to change his mind. Haven't you even seen "The King's Speech"?
George VI has claim to be one of this country's greatest kings. A very brave and dutiful man. As exaudi33 says, the fact he was initially cautious of Churchill meant he shared the view of most of the country. Churchill had been wrong so many times in the 20s and 30s and had changed parties twice. But over the disgusting Nazis Churchill was right and his leadership saved the world.
I'm a BIT younger, but of your generation. I'm the "baby" of a WWI and WWII veteran, and the much-younger brother of 3 men who fought in heavy action in WWII. The youngest of the 3 was killed near Bastogne in December, 1944, age 20, with the 101st Airborne Division. I spent 32 years in the US Regular Army, during which time I managed to obtain a Ph.D. in Military History. My elder son, now 31, is an "Asperger's Genius" who graduated from a top American university with a B.A. (Summa Cum Laude) about 2 months prior to his 20th birthday, he completed his graduate work Master's and Doctorate) from Cambridge University in Mediaeval History at age 24. He's now an Associate Professor at an excellent university in Scotland. Almost unheard- of. But since my children were young I taught them that there's very little difference between British/ European History and American History. And even now, we share much the same culture and society. The current "fads" of attempting to curb free speech, defame historical figures, re-write history, and FAIL TO SEE the current encroachment of Leftist-Fascist and even Communist rhetoric are DIRECTLY CAUSED, in my opinion, by our children's and grandchildren's generations lack of DIRECT knowledge of the horrors these regimes caused. Anyone born about 1980 or later, meaning about 44-45 years old and younger, didn't personally experience the Cold War or the repetitive "hot" wars during that time against the spread of Communism. Those of us raised in the wake of WWII saw and felt and heard it all around us from earliest memories. Quite a few of my close friends in Boy Scouts and at school, and girls I went out with in school and after were Jewish. Many of them had parents with tattooed numbers on their forearms. My eldest brother, an Army Officer before the US entered the war, married a German girl in 1946. Her father had been killed in Dachau in the 1930s. Her brother died at or after Stalingrad. Her mother was killed in a major Allied bombing. My father ended his long Army career as a General Officer, but he'd been an Enlisted man/ NCO until a prominent man whose life he'd saved during WWI managed to wangle him a commission in 1922. Although quite junior in rank to many top American commanders, he received an HONORARY Knighthood from King George VI in 1945. Our generation grew up surrounded by people who'd directly fought or suffered in the war. We heard it firsthand from those who experienced it and bore the physical and/ or mental scars from it. We learned. It appears many younger people haven't.
Churchill sent thousands of British armed forces to their deaths in gallipoli Norway North Africa and Greece he wasn't that bright. In fact, he lost his post as first sea lord after his debacle in gallipoli. The British navy lost numerous ships, and men , Churchill Stalin and Roosevelt, never win WW2 , it was the ordinary men and women who paid the ultimate sacrifice who won the war
The Icon of Icons. The man who brought the British people together at the darkest time. Then bringing the world together for Peace & Democracy. A man who will never be forgotten.
While the country was on strict rationing, he got even fatter. He also really, really screwed up Asia so Britain could maintain empire and invented the country of Israel screwing up the relationship between the Jews and Muslims. Oh and he really hated Indians. Other than that you know, and getting men killed in his failed campaigns during both The Great War and The War because of his incompetence and using military troops to violently end protests in Britain, sure if those things wouldn't disqualify you from being an icon. Sure he had good "fireside chats" to motivate the citizenry and used other media to his advantage. His mother was gorgeous though, then again she was a Yank.
@@james-faulkner He didn’t get fatter, he was completely the same. The Japanese ruined most of Asia due to their blockade of trade lines. He saw Indians as lower class citizens and wanted nothing to do with them, he didn’t hate them. He created Israel as a place of refuge for Jews, also Jews were there 1946 years before it returned to the city. His strategy may of failed during the Great War, but then the Ottomans lost anyway. D-Day is something he planned with Roosevelt and Stalin and it worked. He didn’t even protests with the army.
He was an incredible man. Has been a hero in my heart, where he will remain as long as it beats. Although he would be the first to admit, he was not perfect.✨
Nobody is perfect , we are humans . Only God is perfect . Sir Winston Churchill was an extraordinary man . As an AMERICAN I am very trouble and sad because our education system fails to teach history and the great men and women who fought for us . Me as legal citizen in the USA , I am so grateful to have had learned how Britain and The USA history gave us freedom . Beautiful documentary .
My Irish parents lived through the Blitz in London. My dad ended up landing in Italy at a place called Salerno and fighting into Austria with the British Army. Many have criticized Winston Churchill, especially Indian historians, but there's no doubt in my mind that he stood tall when the world needed it the most. Nobody can take that away from him.
@paddy1952 Totally agree with you. If Churchill had not been there, Great Britain would have probably fallen. If it is occupied by the Germans, there is no D-Day, no bombing of Germany by the RAF and the Americans. Germany could have won the war by fighting only on one front against the Red Army. We owe very much to Churchill.
My uncle at the age of 22 was killed on the Salerno landings. His wife, my aunt collapsed when she was handed a telegram, with just the words ‘your husband has been killed in action. She never recovered and was paralysed for life having lost most of her physical movement and speech.
Why no tears for the 4.3 million Bengalis he slaughtered. He is a diabolique genocidal monster and it is very sad that this bastard died without any trial.
@@snehashischakraborty8890 Why do you care? Your own caste system treat Indian terribly. We just added a new top layer to your own system. If you can't respect and love your own Indian brothers and sisters then why would you expect others to respect and love you too?
What a wonderful documentary, probably the best I've ever seen and I've seen many on Sir Winston. I grew up in the aftermath of this war and my heart swells with pride as I see the brave faces of all our courageous fighting men and women.
Churchill was an awful man. Read Tariq Ali’s recent biography. He debunks the Churchill myth very effectively. Churchill was hated and despised by the British working classes and by the subjects of the British Empire around the world and with good reason.
Really fine show. I thought I knew most everything there was to know about Churchill, but I didn't know of his support for a Jewish homeland. Just one more thing to love about him.
This is a documentary of the highest quality. A big shout out to Lee Holdridge for his beautiful music- and to the mixer who had the good taste to make sure that it never overpowered the narration. As someone whose parents were involved in the war, my Dad was a Lancaster bomber pilot and my Mom was in the women's auxiliary air force, this doccie was fascinating. Churchill was a hero- certainly a flawed hero, as all heroes, being human are. To those ungrateful miscreants who, because Churchill failed to reach their standard of perfection, want to deface and pull down his statue, just consider that without Churchill the statues would be of Hitler. If you tried to deface those, the Gestapo would machine gun you, and those that survived would be tortured and then either hanged on meat hooks or guillotined.
Bruce Boome, how right you are! We need more great men of his abilities and strength! We are at a very difficult time in history, yet again, and could really use a great role model. As the saying goes: "Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it." (Santayana). We need to be vigilant, as there are always some who will take advantage of us if we don't stand together and fight for freedom!
To say if not because of him there would be statues of Hitler is just a bit hyperbolic, yes. Thanks for admitting he was flawed, a lot of people in the comments seem to forget the pain he has caused the world since The War. He also gleefully used the military to stop protests in his own country. Then again, protests aren't protected speech there. Saying all heroes are flawed is a very comic book view of the world. I imagine David Attenborough would be hard to find any little dirt on plus it is obvious he doesn't have a racist bone in his body, unlike Churchill. Is Churchill completely unredeemable with his flaws though, that is the question. I would imagine if you were Indian after The War I would imagine he isn't thought of as highly. He also didn't want Britain to have to social welfare programmes they instituted after The War and still enjoy to this day! Which I must say was a heroic thing to do. While Britain was battered and broke from spending their wealth on war and while still rationing basic food and supplies they accomplished such a difficult task. In complete contrast to America, the country that had more food, more money and was not even really damaged had no desire to aid its populace and actually implemented laws to keep selected groups from accessing the benefits of the new culture and returned the oppressed peoples that served back to their oppressed state. Then again, to call people you simply don't agree with "ungrateful miscreants" (probably want to use more undesirable terms) shows that you do not even wish to understand and place a thing over actual people. Statues are inanimate objects but when people worship a statue so much they hate the people that don't worship the lump of metal are worse than the miscreants they hate. It also doesn't matter one iota what your parents did, it isn't you. Seems like they were good people, would they like it that you hate people because they don't like the lump of metal you worship? I also know what your generation was like when people started coming in from the colonies, they weren't welcomed as they thought they might, going to the centre of their Empire. One last thing, were the Nazis known for using the guillotine? I never heard that. It would be quicker than being strung up until you suffocated or choking for several minutes on cyanide gas.
My mum took me to Chartwell in 1971.Chartwell is in Westerham Kent also home of Caterham Cars.I saw Winston's art work, his personal items including one of his cigars.I and blown away.He was one if not the best Englishman ever.
I named my English Springer Spaniel Winston Churchill, in honor of Sir Winston Churchill. I've admired him since I was a little boy & having learned how to read, started reading the history of WW2. My dad was a veteran, but his experiences there made it impossible for him to talk about it. Today they call it PTSD. He took his stories to his grave when i was 13.
@@rajeshramachandran1812 An estimated 800,000 to 3.8 million Bengalis perished in a Famine when their crops failed due to natural causes, high cyclones and floods. Churchill was concerned about the humanitarian catastrophe taking place there, and he pushed for whatever famine relief efforts India itself could provide. Australian grain was sent but sadly not enough. Hardly "he slaughtered".
My father was one of thousands who went over to Europe. He never told us children what he did . All I know is he got to met Mr. Churchhill. I cried in some parts of this. This was beautifully put together thank you for sharing.
For many years, I listened to documentaries concerning Churchill and found them inspiring. About two years ago I began reading him in his capacity as an author and that was transformative. For me, his very best work (in therms of reading him as a person) is in "The World Crises". It is truly remarkable.
SPOT ON..LOVE THIS DOCUMENTARY OF A SPECIAL HERO of mine and so many.. love Sir Ben Kingsley narration. Years ago my parents had books by Sir Winston Churchill

The world loves & respects the Scandos, how they held their own in WWII, and how they conduct themselves today. WOW, thank you for uploading this. I can't get enough of World War 2 stuff. Future kids will never know the magnitude of that horror and how close we all became from losing thay war. Churchill to me is the definition of a hero. He singlehandedly got the United Kingdom thru that whole picture.
We seem to be heading to another Great War to End All Wars . Russia attacks Ukraine . China has fired missiles over Taiwan . Britain has left the EU as Finland joins Nato . Lots going on . I wonder how this will manifest in proxy war ?
"Churchill to me is the definition of a hero. He singlehandedly got the United Kingdom thru that whole picture." You don't know what the definition of 'hero' is or are ignorant of the actual man. The second statement is either hyperbole or a misunderstanding of what happens during war and the requirements to engage in the activity.
@@DingleDangle66So that I can be certain you are an adult please define, Communism, Socialism, Authoritarianism, Theocracy, and Capitalism in your own words. Stalin respected Roosevelt and Winston but thought Truman was just back country hick.
@@james-faulkner Communism is an ideology that believes everyone should get everything exactly the same and the government owns the businesses. Invented by Karl Marx. Socialism is kind of the same except all citizens share equally in economic resources as allocated by a democratically-elected government. Authoritarianism, basically fascism. You are prohibited from slandering the government and leader of your country and your freedom of speech does not exist. Theocracy is basically to do with religion, you could compare it to Iran. Capitalism is the opposite of Communism and citizens can own the businesses without barely any government interference.

there is one man in this era that can be compared to the great sir Winston... his name is Volodymir Zelenski and his nation is to be compared to the British one during ww2. what are your thoughts about that, Rufus?
As far as I am concerned, Winston Spencer Churchill was one of the greatest leaders this Planet has ever had, throughout history, perhaps even The Greatest. I was extremely fortunate to visit not only Blenheim Palace, but also Chartwell, and above all, the final resting place of The Last Lion and his dear wife, Bladon. I was in awe of this man to whom I owed my freedom; I knelt beside their grave and thanked him. I then walked away backwards, facing their resting place. I was about to leave, but on an impulse walked back to the site, knelt down and kissed the grave with reverence. I shall always remember my October 2019 visit, to the U.K. Roland Singh, Canada 🇨🇦
A most fitting tribute to the man who, along with the RAF , saved all of us in 1940 . I commend you, sir , for your accomplishment . I hope to duplicate your tribute before I die .
@@frederickloucks4865 You MUST visit the resting place of The Last Lion and his wife, Clementine. It is an experience that you will always, remember. I found it to be rather odd, that there was just a small sign stating that they were in the Cemetery; then I remembered that it is probably due to typical British modesty! I was expecting to see a large sign, considering that W.S.C. was one of the greatest leaders that this Planet has ever seen, or ever, will see. 🇬🇧 Roland Singh, Canada 🇨🇦
I have often felt that being a Brit, I have at least one thing to be proud of. This documentary further confirmed my feelings concerning Winston Churchill and wonder if such a person will ever walk upon this earth again. I hope so, we need him so badly in this uncertain day and age.
All these events are part of prophecy revealing. 5000 years have been accounted for accurately. The Chamberlain syndrome has been elevated to prophetic in the 21st century. Revelation 17 and 18 now.
A superb documentary that captures the character traits of Churchill which brought a nation together in its darkest hour. The world would be a very different place to this day without the input of this man. Thank you for uploading this fine documentary very enjoyable.
This, THIS documentary is a CLASSIC! I now live in Israel .My husband knew Ben Gurion and I met Giolda Meir ,both prime ministers of Israel Meier. They both were leaders who admired the one and only Churchill.
This documentary is outstanding. Never took a deep interest in Churchill until recent passing of HM Queen Elizabeth II. Her unlikely friendship with Churchill has ignited my curiosity to look closely into this great leader’s life stories in which I wish I could have done so earlier. Now, I cannot get enough of his courageous and profound speeches and quotes.
When we are surrounded by politicians who represent the most base aspects of our human nature, it is uplifting to remember that we can have leaders like Churchill and Roosevelt embodying the very best.
Yes. As an older American I think the neonates romanticize Hitler and fascism. If they could see the similarities to this historical period theymighbe able to see ex45 for who, and how dangerous he2really is.
Thank you for this film. I didn't realize how Churchill was such a great leader as he was. I thank God for raising up such a great leader at this time in history. We sure need a leader like him today.
The best documentary I've ever seen about Churchill and WWII. Thank you. I hope to pass this along such that as many of our successor generations may see it, and understand how perilous the journey of the free-world has been to provide them the blessings of liberty.
Wonderful documentary. Makes me proud to be a Londoner knowing members of my family fought for freedom in WWII and many survived the Blitz. BUT what a legacy we have in WINSTON CHURCHILL:. THANK GOD ALMIGHTY!
I don't think so. The US military in the West and in the Pacific were the reason that Britain survived WW2. Churchill knew that the only way the War could be won was America's entry into it. Thankfully for him Japan attacked the Pearl Harbour Naval Base and then Hitler declared War on the USA. After that Churchill played second fiddle to FDR and Stalin. Britain never recovered as a political or military power after WW2.
OUTSTANDING! This is clearly one of the best documentaries about Sir Winston Churchill I've ever seen. Exceptionally well done. Thank you for sharing this part of Churchill's life story with all of us. It is my hope that school children all across the globe have an opportunity to view this film and learn about one of the world's greatest leaders & statesmen.
Unquestionably the greatest Englishman of our time and a defiant leader who never gave up whilst frequently facing the impossible and against all the odds. To millions he will always remain a lifelong pillar of extraordinary courage and defiance against a repulsive Nazi tyranny threatening ordinary freedoms and civilised life. Another Winston is now urgently required to stand up to today's repulsive behaviour form other countries that threaten our very existence.
No great historical figure is ever loved buy everyone. While Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill was no exception, I do believe he is one of the few, or many, who was at the right place in the perfect time in world history throughout the most trying of times.
What a timely video to put up here. A man for the moment was Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill. A man who honoured his calling, education and privilege with selfless service, sacrifice and the bearing of great burdens. Is it too much to think of him as ordained by God for this service? The Ukraine too faces similar or worse ravages than did Britain in WW2. God save us from another world war.
I agree as each newscast relates more and more Russian atrocities revealed. One can only pray they haven't destroyed All the beautiful historic buildings of Kiev. The drones have destroyed Almost all of the power grid and now they are threatening to destroy a dam. Do they mean the radioactive lake at aChornobyl??? To flood some of the most productive grain growing farm land in the world???
Not a complete picture of the man, but a beautiful picture of his virtue and courage in one of our worlds most dangerous times. Reading Daughters of Yalta now. Sara Churchill, Kathleen Harriman, and Anna Roosevelt and their fathers at Yalta conference near the end of the war. Fine production and a shout out to Sir Ben Kingsley!
Wonderful documentary. Interestingly, Churchill and Roosevelt had their first face to face meeting not off the coast of Canada, but rather off the coast of Newfoundland. Newfoundland was part of Britain until 1949, when it became a Canadian province.
I always had a negative view on Winston, mainly for the role he was involved in during the fiasco of the Dardenals in WW1. I have since changed this view after watching many films on the man. We all have to learn lessons in life and I feel that the Gallipoli debarcle was one of Winston's big lessons. If it wasn't for mistakes like that I doubt Winston would have been the man he became and in doing so gained my appreciation at his willingness to stick it to the axis as often as he did. Bravo Winston and you have earned your place in the pages of history.
I love that he was half American . Made him just that tiny bit different . Proudly British but with an American stubborn streak . We Yanks think pretty highly of Winston .
Darn tootin'! He was stubborn, had his faults, which were many, but by gosh, when he was up against Hitler there was NOTHING that was gonna stop him from rallying his people to the fight in the landing fields, the streets -- wherever.
Truly excellent documentary on one of History's Great Men...'Cometh the Hour... Cometh the Man'. I was still at Harrow when Churchill an Old Harrovian visited us for School Songs... later in 1965 I was a member of The Honourable Artillery Company's marching contingent in The Great Man's Funeral.
Excellent documentary, thoroughly enjoyed it. It's astonishing to realise that one man with an exceptional oratory, could inspire a whole nation to pull together and stand firm against overwhelming odds, when all appeared lost.
Don't underestimate his personal involvement, nor that of the king and queen. No TV, don't forget. The newsreels we see here were being played in cinemas all over the land, and everybody who could would go to them.
Can't compare the sheer grit of this giant to the timidity of present day BBC anchors who keep asking whether we should continue observing WW2 remembrances.
@@brianfoster5748 You forget: He was the highest- paid British writer of his day. This included articles in newspapers and magazines as well as books. His writing style might be viewed as old- fashioned today, but that's only because current "wordsmithing" in the English language doesn't come CLOSE to Churchill. A few historians such as Max Hastings, Ian Kershaw and John Keegan are superb, but don't quite match him. And remember: those great scholars of recent times had the benefit of FAR superior educations in comparison to what Churchill received.
Listening to the radio addresses of this great man always stir something deep inside me. A pride that is buried deep inside my very DNA. The people from that rather small island have done more for the world than any other nation in history. All of the world’s democracies owe their existence to them. Think about the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, all of Europe, India and more. This man, Sir Winston, wasn’t just a giant among men he was the biggest giant among other giants.
I am not interested in the man's personal opinions, only in his dedication to winning the war, and freedom of oppression from the Nazis. And because of his dedication ,I am here to write this.
Wonderful Documentary. I've seen just about every film on the Second World War and specifically on the British experience in the spring and summer of 1940 and this ranks as the best. It tells a great story of how Churchill influenced events during a dark time for his Country and the free world as a whole.
I agree! It's so concise, but I feel really gives such a complete picture. The powers of darkness are upon us now, but they're clothed in the suits of the WEF. How strange that Klaus Schwab is the leader of this army. I'm a quarter German too!
@@lynnettespolitics9656 I agree about Mr. Schwab and his band of so called elites. They must be stopped. The only great reset we need is a return to the Judeo-Christian values that made Western civilization what it was. Love God and love one another was a good, simple way to live.

The inability to tell the difference between the works of honorable professionals and those created by cynical opportunists, created at next to no cost and containing nothing we haven't seen before, to me illustrates what is behind our political crisis. People seem unable to distinguish between honorable reporting and hack jobs by opportunists whose sole motivation is advertising revenue.
God bless him! A man of many faults which we all have. He rallied a nation and was a hero to his country! Such a complex and brilliant man. He met his destiny and succeeded, with the help of his cousins.
Winston Churchill truly was the greatest statesmen of the twentieth century; and so far of the twenty-first! I hope and pray that we of the English speaking world will be once again blessed with leaders such as Winston Churchill and President Roosevelt!
On the opening day of the battle of Britain, the Italian air force, in accord with its axis allies, seeking to bomb the southeastern most island base of English defenses, got lost in the fog and instead bombed a French island captured by the Germans and turned into a military stronghold. On hearing this, Churchill replied, "Thank God for the Italians!"
My high school world history teacher was from Germany. She always made fun of the Italian armed forces. (Even though I was Jewish, she loved me because I was so interested in the subject.)
I always loved his "What kind of people do they think we are?" speech. I could practically recite it from memory and "teach them a lesson they and the world shall never forget." I have used his words to perfectly describe Russia, "A riddle wrapped in a mystery inside an enigma." Did I remember that in the right order? I was 10 years old when Sir Winston spoke at that US college in Missouri I think it was. That was where he coined the term, "Iron Curtain." He did such a remarkable job during WWII that when he seemed to fall out of favor with the British I was thoroughly confused. He most certainly had a thorough knowledge of the English language. He phrased his words so beautifully. Definitely one of my favorite world leaders of all time.

churchill the greatest man that ever lived ... with all his faults
We learned.
It appears many younger people haven't.
very unkind towards the King, HM became a brilliant war time leader in his own right and he probably needed time to get to know his new PM
Churchill's speech is still moving so many years later.
A true statesman.
The Icon of Icons. The man who brought the British people together at the darkest time. Then bringing the world together for Peace & Democracy. A man who will never be forgotten.
Or a criminal of the most high evil, who sold the British Empire and Europe and the west over to the communists.
We shall never surrender. ✌️
@@james-faulkner I really can’t believe we have people like you that dislike a war hero. 😂

Read Tariq Ali biography of Churchill.
100 % Agree with you.
Thank God for men like your Dad.
My uncle at the age of 22 was killed on the Salerno landings. His wife, my aunt collapsed when she was handed a telegram, with just the words ‘your husband has been killed in action. She never recovered and was paralysed for life having lost most of her physical movement and speech.

Churchill was an awful man. Read Tariq Ali’s recent biography. He debunks the Churchill myth very effectively. Churchill was hated and despised by the British working classes and by the subjects of the British Empire around the world and with good reason.
A tremendous documentary. I am so grateful to my parent's generation for banding together, with the grace of God, to fight and conquer.
The stories never get old, NEVER FORGET!

Cometh the hour, cometh the man. Truly he stepped up to the plate.
Really fine show. I thought I knew most everything there was to know about Churchill, but I didn't know of his support for a Jewish homeland.
Just one more thing to love about him.
Yes, this was news to me as well. It was omitted from The Darkest Hour as well. Seems to be a touchy subject these days unfortunately.
Well said!
Bruce Boome, how right you are! We need more great men of his abilities and strength! We
are at a very difficult time in history, yet again, and could really use a great role model. As
the saying goes: "Those who don't learn history are doomed to repeat it." (Santayana).
We need to be vigilant, as there are always some who will take advantage of us if we don't
stand together and fight for freedom!
To all the men and women, who served in world war two, they were the greatest generation. Thank you for our freedom.
Exactly and Brilliant 👏

@@rajeshramachandran1812 An estimated 800,000 to 3.8 million Bengalis perished in a Famine when their crops failed due to natural causes, high cyclones and floods. Australian grain was sent but sadly not enough. Hardly "he slaughtered".

also Chartwell, and above all, the final resting place of The Last Lion and his dear wife, Bladon. I was in awe of
this man to whom I owed my freedom; I knelt beside their grave and thanked him. I then walked away backwards,
facing their resting place. I was about to leave, but on an impulse walked back to the site, knelt down and kissed
the grave with reverence. I shall always remember my October 2019 visit, to the U.K. Roland Singh, Canada 🇨🇦

The British are very stubborn.

Yeah. Nowadays the PM is half Pakistani

A great documentary, so well done, excellence. Never forget Winston Churchill...
I believe, one could say that Churchill did indeed save the free world. He was the one person who understood who Hitler really was.

Churchill might not have made a very good journalist.
We must remember. Those who do not re- peat history.
I’ve never heard the BBC or its anchors ask that.

You forget:
He was the highest- paid British writer of his day.
He saved the Western world. American and 17, I cried.
Brilliant, inspiring. Thank you to great hero’s. Now so much significant that Ukraine is going through same injustice. Glory to Ukraine
😵💫
Ukraine is losing
Listening to the radio addresses of this great man always stir something deep inside me. A pride that is buried deep inside my very DNA. The people from that rather small island have done more for the world than any other nation in history. All of the world’s democracies owe their existence to them. Think about the USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, all of Europe, India and more. This man, Sir Winston, wasn’t just a giant among men he was the biggest giant among other giants.
In the era of internet on your fingertips why you still decided to be a caveman?

Churchill deserted to WW2 Pacific theatre.
Excellent documentary. Documentaries that don't have talking heads are the best.
We owe so much to these pilots. And to God.
True. A lot of these pilots were from czechoslovakia. After the war many of them were imprisoned and executed by communist back home.
I am not interested in the man's personal opinions, only in his dedication to winning the war, and freedom of oppression from the Nazis. And because of his dedication ,I am here to write this.
One of the best documentaries I have ever seen. Thank you. 🇺🇸
The powers of darkness are upon us now, but they're clothed in the suits of the
WEF.
Excellent doc., brought me to tears a few times. I wish the MAGA set would watch this to understand why it’s so important to defeat Putin in Ukraine.
Putin is fighting Fachism in Ukraine!
Democrats are the reason Ukraine got attacked, they should've left them alone nd not talked abt adding them to Nato etc, I hate Russia but it's fair the US doesn't want Russia at its door step so Russia doesn't have to accept the US being at theirs
This is very good. I’ve seen other documentaries that were more focused strictly on Churchill that were equally good. This one is broader in scope and really shows much more about the people & events.
I agree, such a well rounded snapshot of the war!
Which documentary were YOU watching? Have RUclips fans no critical faculty left that enables them to distinguish hack jobs like this from genuine historical productions? The inability to tell the difference between the works of honorable professionals and those created by cynical opportunists, created at next to no cost and containing nothing we haven't seen before, to me illustrates what is behind our political crisis. People seem unable to distinguish between honorable reporting and hack jobs by opportunists whose sole motivation is advertising revenue.
It was ONE of OUR finest hours !
We have nothing like this. Nothing like the honour and bravery and loyalty to our country, Britain
This historic video should be inwardly noted and with historic eyes and gratitude - man kind !!!!!
The Italian Army. The only army in the world more dangerous as an ally than as an enemy.
A grand gent indeed.
My high school world history teacher was from Germany. She always made fun of the Italian armed forces. (Even though I was Jewish, she loved me because I was so interested in the subject.)
Gotta respect a country that stays home and defends their homeland.
This was a great documentary!!! I have seen it three times!! Still brings Me to Tears!!!! He was a great Person and alsome Leader!!!!!
I love this documentary so much - very moving
