I'm here for all the Gale Banks TED talks.
Mr Banks, I installed one of your dif covers on my 2014 F350 three years ago because I frequently pull my 16,000# fifth wheel trailer. I’m a believer and I thank you for your research and development and for producing superior products.
And what changes did you notice for $500?… none 😂
@@3DProductions I didn’t notice any changes but I’m confident that I’m getting better differential cooling now pulling my 16,000# trailer. Some things you cannot immediately quantify. If that’s what I was seeking I would have invested in the pedal monster.
@@patbullard9276 or almost anything other than wasting $500 on a diff cover lul
@@3DProductions If I have the resources why does it bother you how I spend my money. I don’t drink, smoke, or have tattoos so go talk to those people about wasting money. And I have the resources.
@@patbullard9276 because there’s 1000 other things that you could have spent that money on that would’ve actually made a difference… simple
Gains/losses would also be immediately quantifiable with a $20 temp gun, best case scenario you’re increasing the life of your gear oil slightly
Interesting, similar concept to the BMW M series covers from the early 90's and onwards. Great to see a well respected firm bringing this under the radar technology to the performance aftermarket where so many others have missed the mark. Congrats!
You can lead them to water but you can't make him drink Gail I don't know how many times I've seen you discuss this and it amazes me every time I see somebody proud of this cover but it holds more oil and they won't listen to reason because they figure that they spent $490 on this shiny cover it's going to make everything better I'm sure Glad you're still telling the truth
And all the wonderful videos you put out over the years stating facts and proving your point but they won't listen
Can you please also make a transmission pan?
My vote is for a diff cover for my 2023 GMC Sierra 1500SLT with the 3.0l Duramax i6 LZO. Mr Banks us 1/2 ton trucks tow as well. Please don’t leave us out!
you dont need a diff cover... noone does.
I drive a 2014 F150 4X4 and I’d like to get 1 even if I don’t really need it, peace of mind is worth something.
@@dirtfarmer7472 if you need a $500 diff cover to not worry about your diff exploding you bought the wrong truck lol
8.8 diff covers 🙏
Throw the Ford 8.8 in the mix, sounds dumb but I want one for my Mustang and my F250 👍🏻
Same here. I want one for my 95 Mustang, GT, and for my F150.
This could be awesome for guys that road race heavy Mustangs like Terminator Cobras and GT500s(and the S550 and up for that matter), they tend to crank the power up some in those cars(since it's so damn easy), throw BIG sticky tires on them, and slaughter big sweepers at high speed tracks - it isn't uncommon to overheat the diff and squirt gear oil out the breather(which is why you should have a diff catch can if you don't run a diff cooler). I think something like this could potentially keep those diffs cool without the need for a complete diff cooler setup with an electric pump and radiator.
Hey Gale, Have you considered making a banks ram-air diff cover for the ford 8.8 diff?
Could you make a cover for frint axles as well. More to utilize the sight glass, drain, and fill plugs, as well as the O-ring.
2005 and 2006 sprinter van owners need one too.
yes they cool more than OEM. but given the total lack of issues with the OEM diff solution. it doesn't seem like a problem in need of a solution. More just a vanity piece?
It really depends on how much and how frequently you tow and in what kind of environment. But for the people in their lifted mall crawlers is wont change the performance of the axle but will count as eye candy!
Totally agree, we farm and have been abusing 1ton pickups for decades , I also have personal F-350 pickups that I use hard all the time, never lost a diff in my lifetime other than the 2021 ford axel recall.. Bling is nice but completely unnecessary..(like most aftermarket products 😅)
@@6by6by6Think about the ease of maintenance with this cover. If you work em hard then you should be swapping fluid every 50k. Having a drain plug alone is worth it for me, instead of having to remove the cover and re seal every time. Then the bling is just an extra perk 👍🏼
I would love to have one. Please make a cover for the Chrysler 9.25 ZF diff.
You make some amazing stuff!!! I love everything you make!!! Thank you!!
Been waiting for Dana 80 cover for years. Called Banks recently and was told the project was put on hold. Oh well
If they build it...I will buy it. I'm sure there are many others out there that will purchase as well.
Same for the Dana 70 1st and 2nd gen crowd. Gone from the website.
So I'm not a truck guy at all, I'm a jdm car guy. But banks tech stuff is so cool and so good that my friend and I put it everywhere we can. An 8.8 cover for my supra and my friends 180sx would be so awesome.
I wish you made one for a 2014 Ford F150 8.8" differential.
Truly amazing stuff
I wish they made performance parts for the 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma
The market may not be too big for it, but I'd love to see this for a Chrysler 9.25". That's in back for my 1979 Dodge W150. Since I live in the San Bernardino mountains, it'd be nice to have the extra cooling to pull the 18.
Same. I got a 99 ram with the same axle and i would love a ram air cover for my rear diff
Same.
How about for the 9.75 ford axle in the Raptor
My truck has the same axle. I would buy one in a heartbeat
I would "3rd" that! All the "Max Tow" and HDPP trucks could use this.
Honestly, they need to be getting these things out for a LOT more axles - the demand is clearly there
Maybe some other companies need to take the hint and start innovating with diff covers themselves. We don't want the same old crap that, frankly, until the Banks videos, most of us didn't even know did anything besides make you spend more money on gear oil.
Nothing available for f350 drw?
Need one for my 450 please. Let’s get it done Gale
PLEASE F-450 owners are BEGGING for this cover....Please bring to market!!!!
It's already on the market
@@RikTalon90 Not for the 450 it isn't otherwise I wouldn't be asking
@@RikTalon90it’s only up to the 350, not the 450
@antonfloor344
Last I looked F350 SRW not for the dually.
So are 450 diffs overheating & exploding or you just looking to waste some cash? Lol
Need one for the new Sterling 11.6 that has replaced the M275
Can we get one for the ford 8.8 inch rear axle?
When I was looking for a new pickup in 2017 I read a lot about failed Ford differentials. I am now willing to bet that the people suffering those failures were running a flatback. My best friend and I discussed this on and off over the years and I talked him out of putting one on his first generation Dodge that he still has with over 350,000 miles on it. The discussion always came back to how does the oil get to the front pinion bearing.
3 million views in 5 min?!?
I think the view counter is glitched.
I was so confused 😂
This is a re-post from a couple years ago.
Are these available for the M300/F350 dually axles yet?
Waiting for a M300 version please.
🙏 think M300 👍💪💯
looking forward to your coming out with the cover for the Sterling 11.8 16 bolt rear axle
I bought one 4 days ago. Weird this video came out today
Hey can you please take a look at the new dimpled diesel pistons they claim that it makes you use 25% less fuel and it makes your engine run cooler
Looks awesome, will be getting one for muh Dana 80.
I wish you had one for the Dana 70’s for my old Dodge
They already have a cover for the Dana 70 i thought?
@@Dutch4609 I didn’t see it for my truck on the website when I last looked. I’ll check again.
I spent hours and hours trying to find a differential cover for my 2018 GMC Sierra 1500 with the 6.2L, which means it has the 9.76” 12-bolt differential. I spent hours trying to find one that accidentally mimicked what you have created. The closest one I found was B&M. I only got it so I can properly service my rear differential. Of Banks made one for my truck, I would have bought it in a heartbeat.
Please make these for more platforms. Would love this for my xj
As a fellow engineer.... The Data Banks Provides is amazing. Another Banks for the win product.
Do you have DANA covers coming soon!?!!
Gale, United Engine Machine has new "Dimple Top Pistons", for the Duramax. They claim better power, lower emissions and quieter running. Your thoughts?
Are y’all planning to make a diff cover for the 1500’s? I’ve got the 14 bolt 9.5” in my Silverado and I’ve been crossing my fingers y’all would make one for it. Hell I’d even pay extra if y’all custom made it for my truck.
Us 3.0 Duramax guys have been abandoned! No Derringer, no diff cover, no intake. Tiny diesels are diesels, too
Here Here!! And I’m going to need them too once I swap one in to my 65 Caddy. I got the same size tire, and I’m 500 pounds lighter so I should be able to get about the same mpg on the freeway with my land yacht as your 1/2 ton trucks. And since the 472 weighs over 200 lbs more than the Duramax, i’ll be losing weight too.
@@davidblalock9945
Interesting conversion, I like that it's not the usual LS/power BS, but a sensible one that suits YOUR needs. I assume you're using a modern 6+ speed auto', with overdrive and lock-up?
Not only will you be getting a MUCH more fuel efficient vehicle, you may even have a better performing one, too!
I have a LM2 myself and if I weren’t moving to a 2500 I’d be very interested in a Banks diff cover too. My best guess is to do some homework and take measurements to see if you can swap the whole axle for one with the same ratio and lug pattern but a 14 bolt rear like a 2500. Probably tougher to do than I think it is. But I’m working on a buddy’s 2000 K3500 and swapping the rear axle for one out of a 2020 Chevy Express 3500 van. Same lug pattern 8x6.5” but disc brakes, higher gearing (3.42) and way less rust. Not a solution for everyone I know but a possibility if it matters that much to you
I don't have a truck or tow anything but i want this diff cover for my car 😂
It just makes sense. I love this stuff. How much efficiency is left to reclaim throughout a drivetrain? Maybe quite a bit yet
Interesting...
Gale you should definitely do a video on tubular valve design. It would be very interesting
Please check out the new pistons with golf ball dimples
i dont know if there is as much air flow on the top of the diff but would it be worth making an off road diff cover with the wings on the top so they are less likely to get broken off?
I definitely want one of these for my Duramax and my F350 super duty.
Change your pick ups first..
@@deontaywallaceescalade why? They both do what I need them to do.

Gail, if you had to pick 1 or 2 of your products to FIRST shove into a 2024 Ram 2500, which would you pick? Having troubles picking between the ram air + monster intake or monster intake with the boost tubes? Thank sir!
Mr Banks, do you make or recommend an ATF funnel with an O ring to eliminate transmission fill leakage?
Please make them for jeep dana 44, ford 9 inch and gm 12 bolts!
For the 9in? It has a drop out 3rd, there's no cover
When will Banks release a cover for the Chrysler 8.25" ?
I have a Poniac/Olds 9.3 rear. I am going to be using 4.10:1 ring and pinion. I have been toying with the idea of drilling a hole slightly below the axle centerline in the axle housing behind the ring gear and running a tube to an aluminum cooler and then dumping it back into the top of the housing with a tube then is welded at an angle towarde the top of the ring gear. It should help at steady speeds and possibly for the strip although it may not be efficient if the location is out of the air stream. I don't want it to get broken off unknowingly. I got the idea after watching the first series on how differential oil is circulated and Gale Banks told the truth about the awful differential covers. My 9.3 is all steel and with no removable cover, old school, dependable.
There are pump and cooler setups you can buy. But unless you track the car, a large differential like that pushing around a car will probably be a waste of time. You could install a temp gauge in the differential housing to see if it is even getting warm before you take any drastic measures.
@@geoffmooregmHave you done this previously? On what do you base your premise that it is a waste of time? I have temp sensors I will install in the transmission and the differential (different scales). I also run Amsoil Severe Gear Synthetic oil which aids in lowering the temperature. I have not checked into tumble polishing gears but that also reduces friction.
@4speed3pedals I didn't say it was a waste of time. I said you don't want to waste your time, and money for that matter. But you should make sure (by checking temperatures) it won't be a waste of time. Oil, too cold, is almost as bad as oil that is too hot. So, just be sure these mods will be beneficial. Just street driving or drag racing a car will never heat the oil enough to be problematic. Track racing and heavy (relative to axle size) towing will heat the oil. Possibly enough to require a cooler.
@@geoffmooregmI agree with you but with a low ratio such as a 4.88 or more, it may be something to consider after knowing the temps. Pontiac is fortunate with the fill plug being 1/2" pips so the only need is to run the wires. Plumbing I am thinking would be easy for a self pumping cooler. If ineffective it would be easy to plug. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
@4speed3pedals Yes, absolutely. Get that sensor in there and give the car a good hard run and see what happens.
I have already added a bung to my oil pan in my old Trooper. I had to eliminate the stock cooler because it was leaking badly, and you can't buy one anymore. Everyone says it's not needed, but I do a lot of off-roading and work the engine hard with very little forward movement. So I am going to install a sensor to see what the oil temps are getting too and under what kind of conditions. Who knows, I may need a cooler, too
What about the stock aluminum cover, not the old steel one?
Do you make one for a chevy 10 bolt?

Just out of curiosity, can somebody explain why you took the Derringer off the market for the 3 L gmc you were developing it for years and said it was going to come out every three months and then it disappeared
Does it fit the Ford down Victoria ?
What if mud gets into the intakes?
But is there one for Dana 35/44’s?

Completely off subject, but Mr. Banks, please give us a test on these new speed of air pistons coming to the market.
Why do we just let the Exhaust flow into the air? Is there really no way to capter it or treat via filter on the back of the Vehicle a fan plus treatment device?
We do actually filter exhaust that way. You've just described the catalytic converter, diesel oxidation catalyst, diesel particulate filter, and selective catalytic reduction systems.
GM guys want one for the 9.5/9.76 axle please….
Great product, but I'm a bit confused as to how it is patented. I know at least BMW has been doing this under air channeling and fins for cooling on their rear differentials for awhile now.
Won't something else catastrophicly clap out on a Super Duty long before the rear diff overheats?

1:22 you should have removed those round parts on the vanes because they disturb the flow of oil
They look like casting vents, other than machining them out, i think they might not be able to exclude them.
Man I wish you guys did more gas stuff. I love this channel and plan on buying products for my diesel in the future. But I really wish you guys did more gasoline engine stuff. Anymore the market for classic cars and most of the overall gas engine market is dominated by Holley. They just keep buying up brands and I feel like as time passes the quality is just falling off.
If instantly buy a Banks Efi set up if it were on the market. Something similar to Holleys sniper system. I just installed one on my classic truck and have been fighting with it to keep it running properly. Had a dead sensor straight out the box, then a failed relay, now fighting issues with a stalling I suspect to be injector related. All within the first 100 miles. I just want to buy well made products that last. Is that so much to ask for?

Less oil capacity is not a good thing. Oil will wear faster.
If oil is running colder, in cold climates, viscosity should be modified.
