    Can you get dizzy in space? Is sound louder or quieter in space?

    • @JDowPCs
      @JDowPCs 4 года назад

      I see nobody answered you here. The astronauts sometimes do get disoriented and nauseated, especially when they first arrive. Remember that astronauts on the space station don't have the same subconscious spatial orientation we do here on the ground, as the fluids in your head generally tell you which way is up and down, even if you close your eyes. For this reason, sometimes astronauts have trouble telling which way is up and down at first glance (which is why you see labels with DECK and OVHD, to signify which way is, technically speaking, up or down on the space station's racks.) As far as the sound goes, the interior volume of the space station is that of nearly what it is on Earth, so sounds travel through the medium (breathable air) mostly the same. As you can hear in this video, though, the background whirring is all of the equipment and science racks making noise as they run. The inside of the crew's sleeping quarters (CQs) are quite a bit quieter.
