    Thank you. When my duo evo plus started throwing the c8 error all the time they are replacing it with a pro since the other is discontinued. I'm just glad it will still have the handles. Glad to find a comparison

      Instant Pot is a terrible company to get information from. Nobody there knows anything. I phoned them yesterday to find out which unit has adjustable temperature. They told me all of them do. I have a Duo at home so I checked it and it only has low, medium and high temperature. I suppose to them that means it has adjustable temperature but I specifically asked if I could set the exact temperature for making different yogurts.

    works great. i love that it has stainless steal pot inside ruclips.net/user/postUgkxG-7WiT7ocumjytOpHDFt632PL0pxXRAg and not the one with coating. we used to have a coated pot before, and the coating slowly peels, and i am sure went into the food that we cooked. Absolutely love stainless steel, and will not use a coated product again.This pot has many settings and many buttons, and i need to sit down with a manual to figure out which setting to use. I used the basic functions, and even though i am not technologically skilled, i turned it on and assembled it without any help.Very satisfied with this product overall.

    Last night I said I was looking forward to the direct comparison and you did it so fast! Like another commentator, I will stick with the Duo Evo Plus. I haven’t had the error message you mentioned, but if I did, I might just move my sauté part of my recipe to the stove, since the pot works there too. Also, the all black color scheme reminds me of the Darth Vader version! R2D2 and BB8 I can deal with but not Darth Vader or a storm troopers, LOL.

      "I might just move my sauté part of my recipe to the stove, since the pot works there too" The problem with that is that your IP will eventually just die. I had the C8 error issue with my Duo Evo Plus and contacted Instant Brands. After showing proof, they did replace it. But in the meantime, I continued using it. Well, it just quit on me. So I had to pull out my old Duo while waiting for my replacement. Unfortunately, my replacement is giving me the same C8 error. Again, I contacted Instant Brands and I just sent them pictures. Hopefully, they'll replace it again but perhaps with another model.

    Maybe someone has already commented on this but there are a few videos on how to turn off the sound. The center dial on the Pro -- push in for 5 seconds while the screen says OFF and there you can turn off the sound. Other models that have the -/+ buttons, same thing but push the minus button for 5 seconds. Some models you have to hit another button like start to complete the selection.

    I soooo wish there was a 3 quart version of one of these. We camp a lot and have very limited room in our camper van. We end up having to carry a separate pot to be able t0 use over the fire or propane camp stove. Plus, I love the flat bottom for sauté and browning and induction bottom. A 6 quart liner will not fit in my itty bitty camper van fridge. Fingers crossed that someday this Will happen - I have held off buying a second 3 quart because it want this type of liner. Thanks have the duo Evo plus and love it and bought a second liner. It is super handy for heating up ingredients off stove while I use my stove to get the pressure canner ready

    I have the 8 quart Duo Evo Plus and I love it! (Even with the name🤪) Thanks for the comparison, I don't think there is enough difference between the two to "upgrade" at this point, but if I ever have to replace the one I have, depending on what Instant Pot comes up with in the future, I will go with the Pro.

    The Duo Evo Plus - which I have and love - is no longer being manufactured though many shops still carry it. If it failed under warranty apparently it would be replaced with a Pro. I don’t see that as an issue. I love the new vent feature on the Pro. About the beeping noise - I’ve never understood some of the awkward decisions the IP decision makers make! BTW, I never get error messages, but think the hottest sauté setting is just too high. I think 4 or 5 is equivalent to the hot setting on other IPs but could be wrong. Thank you for the review - you’re so good at this!

      Sadly pro is not yet avail here in the uk. You have no idea how much sadness i felt having just clicked buy now to read its replaced.

      @@lizkimber that’s really too bad. Did you check shops or just the IP site? I learned today that the 6 -quart Pro is not yet available on the IP site - but a rep told me it is already available in some on-line stores. Fingers crossed for you.

      What about the C8 error? I was going to buy one for making various Super Gut yogurts but the more I deal with Instant Pot the more I think I'll get a Breville Sous Vide instead. I watch America's Test Kitchen reviews and they said it was the best sous vide.

    One issue I have come across with the InstantPot Pro is how to cancel the “food burn” error message. The only way I have found to clear this is to unplug the pot and plug back in. The “cancel” button will not work. Have I missed something here?

    The Pro manual indicates that the inner pot is stovetop and oven safe to 425 F. Is the Duo Evo Plus the same? I don't see it in the manual, but afaik the inner pots are the same materials. Have you tried?

    I have the same issue with Evo+ when using the saute function only mine turns off after 1-2 minutes. Just got a replacement for Evo+ since it is now discontinued. I totally agree about the new beeping sound, so annoying and ear piercing.

    I recently read on the official IP website that the Duo Evo Plus has been discontinued. As for me, the Pro is too complicated. I think I’m going to replace my Duo with the new & improved Duo Plus.

      I have the sous vide Duo Plus V2 that was released around Sept 2019. It's very nice and no knob, no beeping. lol. The latest one gets a start button and improved venting setup in the lid.

    I don't have issue with the "continuous beeping, "...it beeps just normal. Maybe you just have to slow down the turning.
    Maybe Instant will send a firm ware update soon....

    Don't know if you still respond to comments regarding these two units - but have you tried the Evo release valve on the Pro model under pressure? When I put Evo valve on Pro under pressure it leaks a little continuously. If you look at the lids the Evo has metal tang in release valve well that is lifted when the lid is placed on base, the Pro does not have the metal tang or corresponding pin on underside of lid. Just curious if you have experienced the same thing?

    I have the evo plus. For about half year now. Never had the message of using the wrong pot or pot is not suited right. Only 2 times i had the burning error. But the pot was black so it was legit to say it was burning. I love the machine. Some programmes cannot be started with a timer to delay the starting time. That function i miss sometimes. Like putting frozen food in it before bed. Then let it sous vide on 80degrees celcius. Just before i wake up in the morning so i have a hot meal. But the sous vide has no delayed starter.

    If you want to make yogurt, can you adjust the temperature "manually" on these once you are within "Custom" setting, (to 100F, 105F, 110F, etc). Please note that I’m not referring to just “Low”, “Medium”, “High”, etc, where those settings already come with their own pre-set temperatures, etc.
    Some of these pots allow it and some don't that's why I'm asking. (Please confirm if the only models that allow manual custom temperature changes are: “I.P Pro”, “Duo Evo Plus” and “Ultra”, but I’m not too sure that’s why I’m asking a pro like yourself :). Thank you very much for posting this informative video!

    Probably you are not aware that beep sound can be turned off atleast in Instant Pot Pro, not aware of Evo Plus.
    You have to press the dial when in standby mode to enter the settings and turn it off from there.

    I was sad to see they discontinued the Evo Plus because it's so much better than the standard Duo Plus, but guess they want everyone to have to choose the more expensive Pro if they want the cool dial selector knob. One big thing I like is you can do your sauteing and bring the water up to temp on the stove top then drop it back in the outer pot to go right into Pressure cook. BIG time saver and would probably avoid that c8 Error. Suos Vide is also a great feature, but guess they all do that now. I do like the black display on the Pro a LOT better than the washed out blue on the Evo Plus. Agree with you on the new obnoxious continuous beep on the new Pro model when you rotate the dial! WTH, Instant Pot??

    If the beeping was the only issue, I'd think they could fix that by updating the firmware on the control panel. Not for the faint of heart to be disassembling the instant pot like that, but I'd think it MIGHT be possible if they didn't lock the firmware and if you have tons of time to be poking around at what they did.

    Great comparison. I have never bought an instant pot and thinking on it now. I would defiantly go with the pro. Is the 8 quart the biggest they make? I know nothing about the instant pot so happy to look at some more of your videos. Did you buy a special cook book for the pro or would you if you were just starting out. Thank you.       Yes, 8qt is the largest Pro size. I don't know if a specific cookbook just for the pro. You should be able to make recipes from any instant pot cookbook in the pro. ☺️

    I did not buy the warranty,🤞it was another 30.00 I have had bad luck, my ultra died in 8 months IP offered no help. Did anyone here buy the warranty with any IP did it get covered with no hassle. ??

    Indigo your video on the pro was excellent, that is why I upgraded, thank you :) Received the pro today, made hamburgers for supper, the pressure came up very fast, loved that time saver feature set the auto vent to 10 minutes, set fav # 1 & 2” I am making a cheesecake in the morning, excited about that,# 2 fav is my cheesecake I make a lot of cheesecake, 2 a month, 7 inch farbarware springform with the bottom turned upside down, this one will be an orange marmalade, see how the pro treats my cheesecake

    In your prior video on the Duo Evo Plus you took issue with the function knob being very slow to change the time. Is that also an issue with the new Pro?

    We just bought the 8qt PRO.
    Never had an instant pot before and so far it is great! The FAV buttons? Not sure of much value, but to each their own.
    Have not tried the fancy stuff yet like yogurt, sous vide, cheesecake, bread etc, but looking forward to trying them.
    Beeping is terrible on anything.. an idiotic feature that serves no purpose. So just turn it off!
    Really like they provided an extra gasket.
    Easy to clean and put away for the next day!

    Just purchased an Instant Pot Pro. Hope it performs better than the IP Duo Evo Plus. Received a Duo Evo Plus 2 weeks ago as a gift and it would not seal and come to pressure even during the "water test". Changed seals, etc. and still would not come to pressure. Called IP customer service and they stated it "appears the pot was out of warranty" even though it was brand new right out of the box. They offered a 20% discount if I wanted to purchase another model but no offer of a replacement. Disappointed in their response. Couldn't say I'm too pleased with their customer service. I'll give this Pro model a whirl and see if it works but as of now I certainly can't recommend anyone purchasing an IP.

    Ive seen some recipes say to use a 0 cook time and then hold for 10 min ( for thawing meatballs for instance) i JUST got my new instant pot pro, and i for the life of me CANNOT figure out how to set a 0 cook time. I can only rotate the dial down to 1 minute. Then it displays 8 hours time stamp. Which seems odd to me. Am I missing something? Thanks!

      The newer pots don't go all the way down to 0 minutes. 😔 I'm disappointed that instant pot made that change

      @@IndigoNili ahhh!!! thank you so much for clarifying. Seems to not make much sense since this is supposedly the “pro” version. I ended up just setting it to one minute. I guess it doesn’t make that much of a difference but it is still annoying. Another little annoying thing I found, is once you turn off the system beeping sound for selection (thanks for showing us how that happens), it no longer gives you the audio reminder at 5 and 10 minutes after the cycle is done like it should- they really need to work on the interface and make it more consistent. I don’t want dial beeping but I do want my audio reminders. It’s a great tool but it feels more like an old bad cell phone interface and not new technology. It shouldn’t be that hard to implement a simple on off selection for system sounds. Thank you for your videos. They’ve been helpful- subscribed!

    are you able to dial up exact temps with the pro or is it just high,med, low. settings ?

      On the saute setting you can do low or high or custom which just has 5 levels, not exact temps. On the sous vide setting you can do exact temps.

      Uh oh! Were you able to get it unlocked? There's a little silver pin on the back of the lid that you can try pulling out with pliers

    I was interested in the duo Evo plus because I wanted it to replace my slow cooker as well as pressure cook. The other models haven't done very well in slow cooker testing. But, as others have mentioned, it's been discontinued. Is the pro as good at slow cooking?

    Isn't there a difference in the bottom of the inner pots of the Pro vs the Duo Evo Plus? Though both are flat bottomed, the pot on the pro seems a little more rounded on the sides than the Duo Evo Plus making the surface area on the Pro seem smaller. Also, the bottoms look like they are stainless steel so they should be compatible with induction cookers - I don't think anyone has mentioned that before, I was wondering if you could confirm. Thanks for all the hard work you put in to make these videos.

      To my eye the inner pots of both the pro and the evo are identical. I use them interchangeably. And, yes, I believe they do work with induction stoves. 👍

    i am thinking of giving one of my 6 quart models to a friend who is from a poor family and buying a Pro for myself. I think that all the new additions would be great to have, especially the inner pot with the handles and the new vent button. I am looking foreward to getting one. Is it available in stores yet or just online at Amazon and the Instant Pot website???

    Indigo Nili, your video here on, splurged, put it my cart, took it out of the cart, did that on the 3rd in my cart I bought it, the price was a huge should i, well my bad luck followed me, again, 😢, I got a defective one so far, after many phone calls with IP, had to send photos, & videos, verification of the price,first it was they will send me another clear sealing ring, put the red one in,still same issue,IP said will send the red as well finally after more photos,i told IP i think it’s more than sealing ring issues,suggested a new lid, they are sending a new lid, 🤞 that’s my luck, my ultra died on me,so I was very leery, pro price, defective pot experience, sure enough another pricy defective pot straight out of the box :) this is my review on the pro LOL

      @@IndigoNili yes, for an 80 yr old, doing screen shots, videos, it’s not like I’m tech savvy, major headache, I’m a 3 stroke survivor this was hard on my stroke head,LOL, FINALLY end result was I inherited a blood disorder that only comes from a parent, that being said it was, you want Whaaat,pleaze LOL, no more hoops, I’m exhausted LOL
      my point in all this is,anyone out there with same issue with the pro ?? Inquiring mind wants to know. The End :)

    So basically this video describes why people need to actually learn. Learn how to use a basic pressure cooker (or to cook for that matter) that has no beeps or timers, and can be used anywhere even with a wood fire. I guess at this point people would give up and quit cooking at all and just go to McDonald's for dinner. After all the name of the item is difficult to pronounce apparently.

      A basic pressure cooker will also not give the c7 or c8 error code if you put it on a wood fire.
