    Such a nice little pond. So sad that the owners aren't willing to give you the fish to re-home them with someone who cares. Kudos for taking the time to look after them. Hopefully the bubble wrap will help. Cheers.

    Great stuff, I'm glad that you are still looking after this pond. Such a shame for it to get left to rot and I hope that they let you take the fish mate, you deserve them for the hard work that you've put in.

    Thank you. I love this pond. It's where I met you. Of course not in person. Some fish can stay alive all winter as long as the water doesn't freeze solid. Are these like that? Fish are so calming. 😉👍👍😊😃

    What did you do with the return mate?
    I think I would be tempted to lift the pump so it's not right on the bottom.
    I think I would put a swept bend on the return to just under the water surface and then either a T after that or another swept bend at an angle. That way it won't disturb the water on the bottom too much.
    If I was King of England, I would make cold weather illegal.

    Is this house still not sorted ? If this was my relative’s house I would simply say take the fish. You’ve nursed them through sickness, fed them & maintained their filter for AGES. I assume the house is still empty. I applaud you for how much you care when others don’t.

    • @AdamJulyan

    Hiya adam, nice job there but if you get some heavy rain fall, i worry that it might sink the bubble wrap into the pond and drown the fish.

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +3

      It will when it rains ill puncture some holes in the bubble wrap so it drains into the pond after that it'll be fine 🙂

  • @themanfromvolantis
    @themanfromvolantis 2 года назад

    Hi mate. Could you put any supports across in the other direction?
    I don't mean to be critical because it's amazing you are helping the fish out.
    Just... that I can't afford Polycarbonate. So I am forced to use bubble wrap too.
    What I find is that rainwater gathers and it sags down into the pond.
    EDIT - I just heard you say about the pin holes.
    Doh!
    The moral of the story here kids, is....
    Watch ALL of the video before you rush in with your comments.
    Also mate, you should go take a look following the hurricane we had over the last 2 days.
    I think the wind has a goal... Try to get every loose leaf, twig, stone in the entire neighbourhood into my pond. I'm not joking. There are oak leaves in my pond today. The nearest oak tree is about half a mile from here and a big hill is between us and the oak tree.
    Probably find some acorns in there too. I still can't fathom out how the stones got in the pond. Surely wind couldn't lift a stone, or people would be having broken windows all over the place.

    Hi Adam, I’m in Canada and we can easily get 2-3 feet of snow. My question is, what is your recommendation in this situation? I have to turn my pump off as well because I’ve had parts in the filter break in past when it gets between -20 and -30 Celsius. I feel like the bubble wrap would just fall into pond with the weight of the snow, so might not be the best idea. The snow on top of the ice should insulate the water from the wind haha. Thank you for the video as always👍

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +2

      I think bubble wrap would probably cause more issues than solve them in your case. Hopefully your pond is deep enough for the fish to go down out of the way of the ice and turning the pump off is probably the best ides but in UK turning pumps off is not a good thing to do.

    • @adiywarbo5362
      @adiywarbo5362 2 года назад +2

      I'd personally put some polycarbonate or solid plastic sheets over your pond if you can. That will keep the wind and the snow out and hopefully keep the pond a few degrees warmer.

    • @mykoiobsession
      @mykoiobsession 2 года назад

      I live in Southern Ontario Canada and I know of a few people who put a makeshift greenhouse (some call it a ploy tunnel) made of 3/4" pvc conduit for the frame and greenhouse poly sheeting for the cover. The 'greenhouse' helps maintain the pond temperature and being rounded on top the majority of snow slides off. I would still recommend using a deicer as well however.

    Thanks Paul

    • @AdamJulyan
      @AdamJulyan  2 года назад +2

      It's a cheap one off ebay it's good for an idea of the temp but it can be a little temperamental sometimes and just say random numbers so i wouldn't really recommend it.
