I installed 0.5.1 on my 2012 MacBook Pro following your instructions carefully and was very pleased with the results. I feel like my older MacBook Pro had received new life. I have a SSD in this along with 16 of ram. I really like Mac OS and like the new Stage Manager on this. I am an Emergency Medical Services Educator teaching First Responders how to save life and with all the fancy features to this OS will make my education job even more productive. Thank you for your very informative and educational videos. Dave from Fulton, IL
David, This is a great story and is so great to hear. Can you believe that the latest version of macOS is running so well on a 10 year old mac? Pretty cool 👍
Really appreciate all your hard work and the work of the OCLP team! Makes me sad that my MP 5.1 can't make this latest leap to Ventura but being able to continue running Monterey 12.6.1 is still a massive boon. Thanks to all of you for extending the life of all this perfectly good hardware that Apple has abandoned!
@Mr.Macintosh: You are one of the best RUclipsrs I have seen, you push the videos at the right time with an amazing and smooth explanation that includes all the details, no matter how small. Indeed, no word is enough for you, thank you from the heart for all your great efforts, even though I have now upgraded to iMac 24 M1, your videos helped me a lot when I had a MacMini 2012 late, and I still feel pleasure and appreciation when watching any of your videos. From the heart: Thank you, God bless you. Of course, we must thank all OpenCore Legacy Patcher developer team for the tremendous work they are doing, helping thousands if not millions around the world, thank you very much OCLP team.
Delta updates? Does that mean I cannot install the version of macos after a certain date? Like say I have a macos12.5 update and I decided to install on my real/fake mac either or, does that mean it will not install?
I installed 12.6.1 Friday 11/4 and with the exception of a graphics problem, all my tests with my frequently used apps went well. Then, I applied the graphics patch this morning (11/6) and my graphics problem magically disappeared. I just wanted to add my appreciation for all the continuing efforts of the OCLP team. 👏😍💯
Many thanks to the developers for all their hard work and to your wonderfully clear explainer videos. I patched with no USB and works about 98%. Safari randomly crashes and continuity camera fails to work in Quicktime of FaceTime either with a second monitor or iPhone. Everything else seems to work really well.
Really appreciate the detailed guide - gives a lot of confidence. Updating Opencore on my hackintosh is always a bit fraught, even though I'd never even think about it without a solid back up. It's just a PITA when it goes wrong. One minor point is that when you've first updated OCLP you do need to select to boot from EFI partition for it to do its thing - by holding option as it restarts. This is prompted in OCLP so no big deal, but I don't hink it was mentioned in an otherwise very comprehensive guide. Thanks again
Great question Julian, when you update opencore / efi on the disk you do not have to hold down option as that setting is saved. If you change it to a 2nd OS or USB then you would have to.
I'm not even installing Ventura yet. Still enjoying Monterey via OCLP. But really thankful for the folks that built this patcher. Thank you!! Also just like listening to @Mr.Macintosh do these walkthroughs... So soothing and you can hear the excitement in his voice lol
Thank you for the comment Kevin. To be 100% honest I love OCLP. It really is easy to talk about something that you really enjoy talking about. I could not do this with the true passion that Mykola and all the OCLP devs also have for the project. ❤️
@@LKirahs Really depends on what machine you have it installed on. I have a 2012 Mac Mini so there are definitely things that are not working including Live Text.
The amount of love, work and undying effort to keep our old Macs alive for a few more years is beyond endearing. Sadly a realization is creeping in that this might be the last OS upgrade for many of our beloved systems. If Apple keeps on their own path I fear sooner than later future OSes will only support the SoC structure if that's accurate articulation. I installed W10 on my 5, 1 Mac Pro and shed a tear on the amount of years between W7 and W10 and recently W11. Apple in that time has released between just W10 and W11 no less than 7 different OSes which balloons to 9 by the time W10 becomes defunct. Controlled obsolescence has never been egregiously more aggressive then Apple business model and it's a shame because its a absurd and accelerated twist on nothing last forever. While that maybe we'll be forever grateful for the extra mile some great people have gone to positively change the lives of others, mine included. Thanks again.
Mate your unsupported Mac videos are always the best! This is why you have so many people replying to you. Keep up the good work and we will wait for the next update.
Thanks "a million" for these videos and thanks to the OCLP developers (what a bunch of brains!). I have a 2011 Mac Mini and I've been able to install Big Sur and now Monterey. It runs great for a $98 Mac. It took me three tries to get each one installed but I never had to redo the USB so it was obviously my fault. You provide a great service to the Mac community!
I updated my MacBook Pro 11,3 to Ventura and it worked like a charm. I didn’t even need to force the safe mode boot to install the root patches. It loaded up for me. First time ever. Love it
I was surprised to find out this week that my 2016 15" MacBook Pro is not supported by Ventura. I've been contemplating replacing it all week. I'm not sure how your video popped up in my RUclips feed but I sure am glad that it did! I did not know anything about this project or that this was even a possibility. I'm going to try this right now, if it works then I just saved a lot of money. Thank you!
I have just been introduced to "oclp". I want to thank you for your effort, professionalism, technical knowledge, and ability to make a difficult / confusing subject understandable. I am a retired person with a 27" late 2015 imac. Your video has enabled me to run Ventura on my unsupported machine. Thank you and your team for an extremely useful "living tool".
Following your detailed Instructions I pulled back my Mid 2012 MbPro I followed exactly same steps for BigSur And without any issues updated Catalina to BigSur Then came Monterey, looked for your videos again and honestly I did it successfully too from BigSur to Monterey Realized that MbPro mid 2012 with 16GB RAM and 1TB Samsung EVO SSD breathing new life. Furthermore I installed Windows 11 Pro using BootCamp with Dual Boot between Monterey and Windows 11, works flawlessly on Mid 2012 MbPro. Since 3 days I am constantly watching your videos again to update my Precious unsupported MbPro mid 2012 from Monterey to Ventura. Awaiting my 16GB PenDrive once I have it will update to Ventura too. Just wanted to say Mr Macintosh and OCLP Team that you all have done a great work for giving hope and showing how it's done for MbPro users like me around the world 🌎 I am Cybersecurity Veteran and I teach Many Things to many Agencies, and running VMs on MbPro is the best 👌 Salutation to you and OCLP Team for breathing new life to once powerful MbPro. Proud of you all
Despite Airplay being a bit dodgy, I'm really impressed and thankful for everyone's hard work, especially the timing, which i don't think was planned to coincide so neatly. Cheers all!
Updated my late 2014 macbook pro to ventura with opencore 0.5 with and it works like a charm, will update to opencore 0.5.1 tomorrow thank you so much and all the other developers for their hard work
In addition, after carrying out this Mac OS Ventura 13.0 installation procedure, I have already received a notification from Apple about an available update for MacOS Ventura 13.0.1 and the update proceeds normally and everything is working perfectly fine. Thanks!
I feel lucky to found your videos and channel. You lead the way to us towards to freedom of Apple's tricky limitations about older macs. Thank you and Mykola and other developers for efforts.
Again, Thank you and the OCLP team for all that you have done in supporting these unsupported devices, and if truth be told, I have a 2011 MacBook 15" that I upgraded the logic board to a 2012, with 16GB RAM, 500GB SSD and I am able to run the latest software without any issues. Thank you again!
If you are a non-native speaker you might want to set playback speed to 0.75. You can do that in the settings of the actual video. Just click on the gear in the lower part of the video. Brilliant content anyway. Thank you, Mr. Macintosh !
Thank you and all the team who worked so hard on OCLP (Opencore Legacy Patcher), the installation was even easier than Monterey. I have a 2013 MacBook Pro 11,2 and it just works flawlessly. I enjoy watching your video and the walk through is just brilliant, compared to some that you see on RUclips . Well done.
I've come a long way with the patcher, first using it back when it was on version 0.3.1 for Monterey 12.0.1 on my 5,5 MBP. I remember when I was in the troubleshooting hall of fame because I didn't have an admin account and couldn't install opencore on my ssd. After a 3 day long process, however, it was fixed when you discovered that I had a trailing space at the end of the hd name. I've learned so much and am so thankful to the OCLP team who were able to pull this off. If I had money on me, I'd donate some without a doubt. So glad to have been a part of this journey! Although monterey is my all-time favorite macOS version because of how disappointing the system settings is for me... I'm so impressed.
Great guide, thank you so much to making this work, shout out to all who worked on this, anyone noticed that continuity camera doesn't work, I have a 2014 mac mini with OCLP 0.5.1 installed, iPhone XS, it shows up in Facetime and MS Teams but when I select it, it doesn't show any video, and yes I have another webcam plugged in, I read on reddit that some people had this problem with Ventura compatible macs as well, I tried to plug in my iPhone with same result, put the iPhone in the "magic position" landscape with no movement, noting worked
Hello Robert I've been testing continuity camera and it only works on skylakye & broadwell macs right now. Hopfully the issue can be figured out so it can work on previous devices.
good day, as I told you before, I installed Ventura in my MacBook Pro Mid 2012, and with this OCLP 0.5.1 I solved the everything, thnx Mr Macintosh and thnx to the developers of OCLP: you thebest; one more thing, my Mac is running faster and stable with Ventura than Monterey, have good day
Hey, do you have SSD installed or its on the HDD?got the same Mini, Ventura feels a bit laggy tbh on the HDD though.. appreciate the feedback.. (installed the graphics patches too)..
@@armingeiss1281ok.. hope that will fix it.. have a M.2 NVSM and an adapter on the way.. will clone the hdd and see if it will change the world spin speed :)
Mr Mac i installed this at the same time as the installation thats the full install its working like magic got it booting with just the apple logo i love it Thanks have a nice day , take it easy 👍
Help .... so I want to just install Monterey on my MacBook Air early 2014... Would the new OCLP 0.5.1 avoid the issue some users including myself have been having with the Progress Bar frozen on the loading screen after installing the root patches from OCLP 0.4.11 (holding option or shift key doesn't seem to be working ) any help would be greatly appreciated
Hi I accidentally updated my 2012 MacBook Pro through the system preferences and it prongs me to my login screen where I will type the password and it will load for a second and then restart saying that I there was an error, when I boot into safe mode a circle with a line appears I’m not too sure what to do, I have a lot of files on my computer that I don’t want to lose, what are my options please help
Mr Mackintosh thank you so much for another great video. Really over the moon with Big Sur but will take your advice and wait before upgrading to Ventura. Thanks again, you're a 🌟. Mick, Northern Ireland 👍🍻
Awesome. I now have an iMac 2011 with 1TB SSD 12GB RAM and MacBook Pro 2012 1TB 16GB Ram both running Ventura totally fine. Some small issues with maps and other things on iMac but nothing major. Thanks!
Hi there, do we have a fix to enable the AirPlay receiver on an unsupported Mac running Ventura? The 2017 5K iMac in my case. The feature went missing in sharing (as well as in the AirDrop and handoff tab) ever since I upgraded to Ventura. I was using my iMac as an external monitor when I’m using my MacBook Pro M1 for work. I’m so used to that setup and now it’s gone 😢 UPDATE: For anyone wondering how to fix this, I was able to figure it out myself. All I had to do was download the latest version of OCLP >> Settings >> Turn on - Allow native models >> Build and Install OpenCore (preferably the same drive as MacOS). That is all it takes and now the AirPlay receiver is enabled and you should be able to find it in Settings >> General >> AirDrop and Handoff. You're welcome! 😄 Honestly, this wouldn't have been possible had I not been watching a bunch of Mr. Macintosh's videos. Thanks for everything you do, really appreciate it! 🙌
As a Mac newcomer I managed to get Monterey running on my 2010 iMac using open core. Had to patch the Graphics and wireless card of course but it works well. I did install Ventura but there was no patch for the wireless card sadly.
Thanks for all of your great videos... I have a couple of issues that I needed your help with. I have a 2012 twelve core Mac Pro (5,1) and I couldn't install Monterey 12.6.1 (OCLP 0.5.1) on a NVME SSD via the PLCE slot. When I go to "startup disc" my mac pro can recognize the drive with monterey but when it boots up to the boot picker the NVME drive with Monterey doesn't show up. I tried a few PRAM resets but nothing helped. I was able to install it fine on a SATA SSD fine. Another issue that I have is WIFI. In the post install patches, OCLP shows that there is a legacy wifi patch for my system but the option to install it is grayed out and it doesn't allow me to install the wifi patch. It says the SIP number isn't correct or something which is over my head and I'm stuck there. Please help. Thank you!
After I installed Ventura 13.0.1 I ran “Post install Root Patch” After I click “Start Root patching” I get an error message: A PROBLEM OCCURRED TRYING TO DOWNLOAD THE KERNAL DEBUG KIT: COULD NOT CONTACT APPLE DOWNLOAD SERVERS?
Hello Greg, this issue was just discovered and is on the Apple KDK download side. github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1016 - For now the work around is to download the KDK though the dev portal. If you don't have an account hold a bit a solution is being worked on.
Unfortunately I have problems using OCLP 0.5.1 with Ventura on my Macbook Air 11 2014. No problems when installing Monterey with OCLP 0.4.x. I can follow your great tutorial and have no problems creating bootable flash drive exactly as in tutorial. When rebooting and selecting flash drive and then selecting install Ventura, I see the Apple logo but with a non moving progress bar. I read in comments in your initial Ventura video that someone with MBA had the same problem. Seems like OCLP 0.5.0 worked as a workaround in that case. I will try that instead.
running ventura on my mac mini 2012,and its faster than monterey i love it.opencore 0.5.1 is great.i even did a clean install on my macbook pro 2020 using opencore clean install, much easier than updating
Hey man, i also installed Ventura on a macbookpro mid 2012 . But when I use powerful software like Office and Video platforms like Zoom or teams, my Mac turns slow. Can you tell me if your Mac mini 2012 has the same problems?
@Mr.Macintosh, Here is a fix I found by accident that may help those that were having issues with Firewire (iSight cameras,) USB DV Cameras. ZOOM support suggested I kill a process in Terminal and delete ~Library/App Support/Zoom/Data and the preferences/plist. I reinstalled the Zoom App and Boom- I had my firewire and DV cameras in Facetime and Zoom. Unfortunately don't have the Terminal command but if anyone needs that - I'm sure you can ask ZOOM support. At the same time, I had an Apple message to change a shell. I ran the following command `chsh -s /bin/zsh` and between the two commands, my cameras were fixed.
Hi and many thx to you and everybody who is participating in the developing of the OCLP and the creation of the video tutorials. From a performance perspective, should one with a Macbook Pro5,4 mid2009 with ssd and 8GB RAM, use macOS Monterey or rather stay on Big Sur? Thank you for your feedback.
Thanks for all of the videos. You have been a great help. I have an issue installing Ventura on 2012 iMac ocb startimage failed - already started I am stuck and cannot get past this. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thank you for all your great work. BTW when I updated my old Mac mini to Monterey I got offered 12.6.2 and used it, it all seems to work except for Bluetooth do I need to revert to 12.6.1 ?
Mid 2012 15 inch quad core with SSD boot times are slow, over a minute. Login pops up right away, type password then it starts booting, is this normal?
Thanks for your videos - very informative. I have a 13" 2011 Macbook Pro. The OS on it was High Sierra. I downloaded OCLP v0.5.1, used a 32GB USB and installed the latest version of Big Sur. It took awhile, but everything seems to work fine except Screen Mirror to my Apple TV 4K 2nd Gen. I can use Air Play fine from within a RUclips video, or from QuickTime and cast to my Apple TV. However, I can't seem to get Screen Mirror function to work. When I click on the screen mirror function, my 4k Apple TV is listed there for me to click on. I did a Google search, tried a few suggestions but nothing worked. Whenever I try to mirror my Macbook Pro's screen to my Apple TV, the TV screen is just turns black. I can't see my Macbook Pro's desktop. After various attempts, I decided to then upgrade from Big Sur to Monterey. I reformatted the same USB that had OCLP and Big Sur. However, when I tried to download Monterey onto it from within OCLP, it said it couldn't find the USB. I tried several things, but nothing worked. So, I thought of just trying to launch the downloaded Monterey file without using OCLP and it worked. Long story short, with Monterey successfully installed, I still can't get my Macbook Pro's screen to show up on my Apple TV. If I am playing a video within a webpage and click on screen mirror to Apple TV, I get the audio playing on the TV, but with a black screen. Is this because my 2011 Macbook Pro's hardware limitations with the new OS software? I could screen mirror fine when I was using High Sierra, but not with Big Sur, or Monterey. Any insight is appreciated.
Been using Ventura on a couple production machines and my son has been playing games on his 2010 iMac that we updated to Ventura and he says games have less lag. Ventura is a better OS than Big Sur and Monterey on older systems.
I've actually been hearing this from a lot more people than usual that it seems the under hood improvements in Ventura are really making their mac run better! 👍
Wow amazing !! If I used Time Machine for backup under OCLP Monterey 12.6.1 will this be seamless (and work) if used in OCLP Ventura. I experienced many issues going from Catalina to Monterey using TM backups with it just hanging
another great video....using your guide i used 0.5.1 to put ventura on my macbook pro retina 2015....only issue i have is weather app crashing.....i actually find ventura fast and buttery smooth (i7, 16gb ram, ssd)...upgrade not clean install
Appreciate all the work you guys have done. I do however have an issue, how do you install it with a graphic card that does not have a bootloader when you start up? i hold down the option key and the screen stays black?
thanks, everything seems to be working on a 2015 imac except the airplay receiver. The setting is there, but the imac is not visible as a receiver from other devices, any ideias ?
Thank you for your vids, they really encourage to jump into the latest. I already upgraded my 2 MacBook pro 2012 (9,2) I noticed they failed on the internet update download but, I made it thru by using a lan cable. The n when I upgraded my MacBook Air 2012 (5,1), but it fails on the upgrade process, due to no internet connection while on the last reboot. Since no lan port, it keeps failing over and over. Is there any way to get around this issue?
Tried opencore Monterey on 2011 macbook pro and its not worth it, it's just a heavy OS for older macs even with 8g ram and ssd. Ubuntu mate on the other hand is a very light weight and runs very smooth on older macs without any problems. It even support a very low power state that saves your battery. So if you're not tied to a macOS only application then just use a lite Linux distro.
Thank you for the great video! On my hackingtosh I have OpenCore version REL-076-2021-11-28, prettty old I know, but I don't like touching things that work, but its time to upgrade to Ventura. When I try to update the version, the button "Build and Install OpenCore" is grayed out and even if I select "Allow native models" it still stays grayed out. I am missing something but not sure what it is, any advice would much appreciated! You've got new subscriber!
very appreciate for your hard work! I got a simple question 🙋♂️ to you ,my graphics card is amd r9290 that card can spoof r9290 so my point is will it work on oclp? Until now Monterey is good, looking forward for your reply !
@Mr.Macintosh: Do you have a solution for me: I cant install OpenCore to my internal drive. I get this error message: An error occurred! 0:188: execution error: Volume on disk0s1 failed to mount Perhaps the operation is not supported (kDAReturnUnsupported) If you think the volume is supported but damaged, try the "readOnly" option (1) Is it because i use a non metal iMac mid 2011?
So I have a 27 inch iMac corei5 3.2ghz with 755 GPU, 16GB RAM and 1TB fusion drive. Can I enjoy MacOS 12 Monterey on it? Most importantly, will it support all apple store apps? natively
hi love your video, i updated my mac pro mid 2012 to ventura and now it wont boot past 40% on the apple logo, i cannot load safe mode. im trying to find a way to create a bootable usb drive with ventura or monterey using windows. now im stuck. :(
Hello friend! I upgraded my MacBook Pro late 2012 (10,2) from Mac OS Catalina to Mac Os Ventura the week before and it's working great, normal hardware speed I'd say, and I used OpenCore 0.5.1 for this install. However watching your video I think I understood that frequent updating of OpenCore is necessary, am I right? Got it correctly? Thank you very much if you can reply to this comment of mine. Hug.
Thank you for your Tutorial. At the moment I' am little bit frustrated. Make an update on my MacBook Pro to monetary and at this moment monitor sharing with cmd + F2 and thunderbolt won't work any longer. So I decided follow your tutorial. Update my MacBook to enable AirPlay receiver. Work fine for my iPad device. Than I install to my iMac middle 2011. Installation runs perfect. In System Preferences AirPlay available and activated. But under display configuration on my macbook button Display add iMac is not listed. On the other side on my iMac display configuration the button add display is not shown. Do you have any idea to solve the problem? Using v.0.5.1 on iMac. Best Stefan
Thank you Mr. Macintosh and the OpenCore Legacy Patcher team for all that you do! I have a quick question: I've been able to download Ventura with OCLP with no issues (late 2013 MacBook Pro). For some reason however, my computer will download, but will not update OCLP to 0.5.1. I'm trying different ways to update it, but it doesn't seem to be working. Any suggestions?
I figured out the issue and it's been updated. Thanks again for all that you do! I have a late 2013 2.6 Quad Core GHz i7 16GB 512GB MacBook Pro that runs great. I was thinking about buying a new one until I ran across your video for OCLP for Monterey a few months ago. I ran that and now Ventura, and my MacBook runs great! I put buying a new one on hold for at least another year.
Derrell that is great news!!! I'm glad you figured out the issue. That 2013 MBPro is still a great mac and will definitely hold you over until you get a new Mac 👍
Hello thank you for all the great videos you do love your work i have a problem . I have used open core legacy patcher 0.5.1 with Ventura on my MacBook 12” 2015 and now it won’t turn on at all can you help please Thanks
My mid 2010 7,1 wifi has stopped working. It sees the networks in the system report. Just upgraded to legacy 5.1 still won't connect to networks, was working till yesterday.
I’ve already installed Ventura following your guide in a Macbookpro mid 12 -13”, everything goes perfect but when I use zoom and excel or any other heavy softwares suddenly the Mac turns really slow. Even if I have a SSD and RAM 16 gb. Mr Macintosh can you help me??
Hi, your tutorial is fantastic. Thank you for all your advice. My question is about the boot loader, I currently use my Macbook Pro Mid 2015 between Mac OS and BootCamp with Windows 10. After the Ventura installation by OpenCore Legacy Patcher, I would like to know if I can keep access to Windows10 by the boot loader or if I will need to reinstall BootCamp and Windows10. Thank you in advance for your reply!
Hi, i have macbook pro early 2013 15", i was with catalina os and i have also bootcamb with Windows 11(500gb ssd, 300gb macos+200gb bootcamp). I make a fresh installation of moderey 12.6.1 , (erase catalina os) and both moderey and bootcamp windows 11 work perfect! I think that also with Ventura os you have Access to your bootcamp.. Very appreciated to mr.mackidosh, many many thanks, respect for his job and the lot of videos, he is Great 😃
Didn’t worked for me yet. I can’t even access my Montery anymore. Had the same issue when I updated from Bug sure tho. I lost all my data but I didn’t installed important things yet and don’t have any important data since I have the max for only a few weeks by now and downgraded to OSX again and am trying to process again now. Let’s see
Hey there. I have a question. I have a Mid 2012 Mac Pro running Monterey 12.6.1 (Opencore 0.5.1) and whenever I reboot the system, The DVD drive tray opens for a few seconds, then it closes and the machine boots as usual. Is this something unique to me, or have others reported this? How do I get it to stop doing that? It's not really a problem, as I seldom reboot.
Hi, can you show me how to repair on dual boot selection as I can't set default on Windows partition to boot by default and it always shows my Mac partition instead. Tried booting up in Mac->System Preferences->Startup Disk to select to Windows but it prompts there is an error. I'm currently still using OCLP 0.4.11 on my iMac 2011, hope you can enlighten me on this. Tks
I updated my 2013 iMac to Ventura and couldn’t use my second monitor, my copy of Logic stopped working and opening and closing any window was super sluggish… it seemed that some settings were missing on the new and horrible new settings window that Ventura has. downgraded back to Monterey everything works as expected.
Another excellent video....only issue I've seen on my 2012 MBP is that the continuity camera is not working. It shows connected on my iPhone, but doesn't change from the MBP camera.
I've done something really silly and clicked on the OS update from Monterey 12.5.1 to 12.6.1 without updating the OCLP version and have a stuck MBP (just apple icon and part filled bar - advice welcome cheers
First time I've stumbled updating MacOS and OCLP after a year of trouble-free use. Hoping you can help. I downloaded and installed 0.5.1, then downloaded Monterey through system update. After downloading but before installing, I lost power and now my iMac 12.3 (late 2013) can't boot into MacOS, only Windows through Bootcamp. I get the Ø at startup. Do I need to create a bootable USB (and how would I do that with Windows)? Many thanks, hoping it's a simple fix.
I am really appreciate the great efforts have done to make old good conditions Macs back to a live again , I have only one issue with MacBook Pro 15" 2016 , I discovered that the Touch ID is missing in setting and I am not able any more to use this function I tried to figure it out is there is any missing kext or .... but I could not able to figure it out cause, please need your explanation for this issue
Hello Zailong, I did test touchID and it is working on my 2016 15" MBPro. How did you install ventura? Via erase and install or upgrade with a USB disk?
I'd still wait on your 5,1 to be able to install Ventura. It's still in active development!
Apple's greed
Thank you very much MsShirepony! Don't worry the OCLP devs are still actively working on non metal and the Mac Pro 😀
@Mr.Macintosh:
You are one of the best RUclipsrs I have seen, you push the videos at the right time with an amazing and smooth explanation that includes all the details, no matter how small.
USB seems like a lot of work and i dont have one lol
Is Live Text working for you?
@@LKirahs Really depends on what machine you have it installed on. I have a 2012 Mac Mini so there are definitely things that are not working including Live Text.
My mid 2012 is now screaming fast on Ventura. Thank you for making the OCLP process clear and attainable for all!
This is great news Brad! Pretty cool for a 10 year old mac right ? 😀
Brad.... is your "mid 2012" a Mac Pro 5,1 with a metal graphics card?
Mr.Macintosh is probably the biggest reason I got into computers and what they really are and how they work.
I have been hearing it for 10 years how CMP will be dead soon. Who knows. CMP out survive Apple company itself.
Works flawlessly on my 2013 Mac Pro so far. Loved the ease of creating the install USB.

Thank you very much, I really appreciate it 👍
Thanks "a million" for these videos and thanks to the OCLP developers (what a bunch of brains!). I have a 2011 Mac Mini and I've been able to install Big Sur and now Monterey. It runs great for a $98 Mac. It took me three tries to get each one installed but I never had to redo the USB so it was obviously my fault. You provide a great service to the Mac community!
was unsuccessful yesterday but tried with newest today and now have Ventura on my 2012 Mac Mini with 16 Gig of ram and 1TB SSD. THANK YOU all of you
NICE Raymond!! I'm glad the install went well on your 2012 Mini
Updated OCL to 0.5.1. Did a straight update to Ventura without USB and worked with no issues on my iMac 2013. Thanks.
I updated my MacBook Pro 11,3 to Ventura and it worked like a charm. I didn’t even need to force the safe mode boot to install the root patches. It loaded up for me. First time ever. Love it
Alex, I really need to test this out as I thought the 11,3 still had the issue. If not this would be great news!
@@Mr.Macintosh interested to see if you have the same experience!
Following your detailed Instructions
I pulled back my Mid 2012 MbPro
I followed exactly same steps for BigSur
And without any issues updated Catalina to BigSur
Then came Monterey, looked for your videos again and honestly I did it successfully too from BigSur to Monterey
Realized that MbPro mid 2012 with 16GB RAM and 1TB Samsung EVO SSD breathing new life.
Just wanted to say Mr Macintosh and OCLP Team that you all have done a great work for giving hope and showing how it's done for MbPro users like me around the world 🌎
I am Cybersecurity Veteran and I teach Many Things to many Agencies, and running VMs on MbPro is the best 👌
Salutation to you and OCLP Team for breathing new life to once powerful MbPro.
Proud of you all
Despite Airplay being a bit dodgy, I'm really impressed and thankful for everyone's hard work, especially the timing, which i don't think was planned to coincide so neatly. Cheers all!
Updated my late 2014 macbook pro to ventura with opencore 0.5 with and it works like a charm, will update to opencore 0.5.1 tomorrow thank you so much and all the other developers for their hard work
You bet @Cybegeek TV! Thank you for the comment 👍
I'm glad you are here Spawn! Thank you for the comment
That's pretty cool @lazzyone! I just saw someone with a 2012 MBPro with a matte display from a 2011 MBPro.
That is tempting, but for now I am happy... maybe a summer project for my kids to figure out.😄
Thank you for your work! And give a big THANK YOU To the developer guys.
Thank you again for your support John, I really appreciate it 😀

Installed OpenCore Patcher and Ventura on my 2014 MacBook Air 13'', i7, 8gb ram, 512 gb ssd. RUNS GREAT!!!
Well done.
Nice Mr Macintosh. You are always here when I need help with my unsupported Mac mini late 2014
Thank you Ilan
We appreciate what you are doing from Germany. Keep us the good works
Thank you Robert

I’m so used to that setup and now it’s gone 😢
UPDATE: For anyone wondering how to fix this, I was able to figure it out myself. 😄
Honestly, this wouldn't have been possible had I not been watching a bunch of Mr.

Thank you!
Excellent guide, Mr mcIntosh, you are a saviour every single time. appreciate your video ❤

Hello Greg, this issue was just discovered and is on the Apple KDK download side. github.com/dortania/OpenCore-Legacy-Patcher/issues/1016 - For now the work around is to download the KDK though the dev portal. If you don't have an account hold a bit a solution is being worked on.
@@Mr.Macintosh Thank you so much! That worked great!! Everything seems to be working fine n ow, but do you recommend that I do a fresh reinstall?
I made the mistake of trying to upgrade to Ventura from Monterey and completely hosed the system. Lesson learned.
Thank you. We really appreciate your excellent videos!

Is there any way to get around this issue?
Fantastic ressurected a 2012 and a future assured a 2015 shame the Ventura layout is pants
I would prefer to install Windows. Why would anyone need a system without applications like Linux?

After downloading but before installing, I lost power and now my iMac 12.3 (late 2013) can't boot into MacOS, only Windows through Bootcamp. I get the Ø at startup. Do I need to create a bootable USB (and how would I do that with Windows)? Many thanks, hoping it's a simple fix.

Hello Zailong, I did test touchID and it is working on my 2016 15" MBPro. How did you install ventura? Via erase and install or upgrade with a USB disk?
