I just bought the 457 AT-ONE version. Haven’t even put the Vortex scope on yet. I’m anxious to get it set up to do some plinking. Thank you for the video. You make me feel confident I bought the right gun.
Minnesota. I have taken three whitetail deer the Moorhead area. The wife and I have been married come November 2022, 34 years. The families originally from Longville, MN. I didn't hunt or fish not until I married into the family, or even boating or RVing. They got addicted to the outdoors. Archery and the likes, everything outdoors, plus airboating here in Alaska.
I’ve got the 457 pro varmint which is the 16” heavy barrel. I run a YHM suppressor so the 16” is the perfect length. Just had it out to 450 yards so no accuracy loss either.
Nice shooting. I've noticed that my grouping depends a lot on my ammo. Even from the same lot. It seems the manufacturers don't put as much emphasis on precision loads in rimfire. Even with the "good" stuff.
it is just personal preferences - I know people who use CZ with 26 " barrel and they would not replace it with anything ! If you need quicker on target get shotgun which is fun as well.
That 16" is sick. Ive been wanting to do a 16" MKII for a while with a side folding setup for a while. You may have just given me that inspiration lol. Great video buddy.
Thanks man. One thing I am noticing with the side folder is that hinge is pretty important since the rifle weighs at least 15lbs. The weight of the rifle hangs on the bipod and then it's distributed at the foot of the stock above my support bag, that hinge gets several pounds of pressure so I notice a slight flex in it vertically, but pretty minor. I'm just being picky. It's also half the price of a law folder so I'm happy
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan I know what you mean sometimes its easy to pick over things like that. Have you ever shot any SK rifle match ammo out of those rifle to test for precision/accuracy?
Yep, in fact out of Centerx and Sk Rifle match I've gotten the best groups with Sk Rifle Match. Sd and Es are very good of course too. I've had a hard time this last month finding reasonable prices for SK 😞
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Yeah SK rifle match is pretty much the standard for those CZ rifles. Ive still got some left from when i had mine. My Savage match rifle doesnt shoot it for nothing. My go to round is Midas+ its stupid expensive but gosh it puts down some very small holes. I shot almost a clean IBS target at the last match i did last year with that setup and came in second with a bone stock MKII in a boyds stock 🤣
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan it's decent .3-.5 at 50 depending on ammo .8-1.7 at 100 depending on ammo from the bench with the 16" I want to check the groups as well as sd I have the extra barrel so I figured why not test it out
I'm so confused but maybe you can help me out. I thought that when searching for accuracy, you either wanted to stay supersonic all the way from muzzle to target, or start sub and remain so all the way, thus avoiding the transonic zone. The Federal AM in both barrels was starting supersonic, but at the ranges you were shooting you must be going trans and subsonic before impact. What am I missing? Just getting started in the precision rimfire game, shooting a CZ 457 VPC 16" suppressed, Timney at 13 oz, Area 419 30 MoA rail, and Arken SH4J G2 in rimfire silhouette at 150 and 200 meters.
Yes generally you are correct. The strange thing is that at distances beyond 200 yards the wind plays such a role that I've often chosen to deal with the transonic change because the higher speeds cut the wind better and had less drift. The wind is a huge factor at 300-600 yards where I tend to shoot rimfire so I care less about transition. That being said, most of the time I currently shoot ammo around 1085fps 200 yards and in. That is an updated practice since making those rimfire videos
Have you had any issues with the RAPS full-size stock twisting on the A2 buffer tube at all? Can see how the carbine tube would keep it from turning, but wondering about that with the round A2 tube? Thanks
I'm about to buy a 457 Varmint but I still don't know which one to get, my heart says 16" but my head says 20" ........ 16" with silencer or 20" bare ??????
Can u order the cz457 precision chassis by itself? Because I have the cz457 varmint precision like u and I just got a cz457 varmint with a 20inch barrel I want to put into a chassis
BIG QUESTION: Do you have issues zeroing your setup to 50 yards? (Can you actually zero center reticle) - I understand that you only have 27 mils of travel in your scope, roughly 92 MOA with a 50 MOA rail (usually recommended to have at least double scope MOA of the built in rail MOA). If not you usually can't zero at 50 yards. I also am planning on getting the 50 moa rail. I want to shoot out to 500 yards. My intended scope to buy only has 92 MOA built in travel. Could you give my your experiences with this?
Hey friend. Some Arken have 32 mils, some have 36 mils internal travel. I have one of each. I have a 50 moa rail and a 55 moa rail, and both get me to 500 yards no issue. I have a 50 yard zero too. 92 MOA isn't enough to do it well, you'd be in the bottom of your glass I'm sure and on lowest magnification with all hold overs. Not an idea situation because if glass quality isn't good it'll distort data in reticle too.
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Thank you for the very quick reply and information. I am looking into possibly getting different turrets on my scope which would net me 29.5 mils or 101 MOA. Just curious Ive been wanting to buy a grip for my CZ457.. I ended up getting a magpul MOE k2+ but it doesnt fit on my CZ! Do I need to get an AK grip or what? It seems the none of the AR grips fit...
in my opinion you have to consider, what you want to do with that rifles. I have very old ( Brno 1) what is CZ and it is my hunting tool - took for me uncountable bush chickens, squirrels etc - I love shooting longer distance - still I am between 100 - 200 m and for that I use CZ 455 with Boyt laminated stock ( which I modified) and I put on Timney trigger (which I also modified) and in good days and little luck is no problem shooting 1 1/2 inch group at 150 m what for my old eyes I consider as great! I have another CZ but it is LR magnum which shoot great at 100 m ... Last idea maybe you should try different ammos. For hunting with my Brno I use Federal hunting-target or Remington Yellow jacket, for target shooting I found SK LR and Norma 22 TAC working for me great, and for my LR Mag I found Hornady with bal tip is most accurate but very destructive on animals ( I shot 2 lynx with it ).
one point more to CZ triggers - on my 455 - people complained for it - but I was able modified it - it was better it was 2 stages - but randomly get over second stage and that was reason why I replace it with Timney - from that time I enjoy time when I shoot with it. BTW I hear on CZ 457 is already improved trigger

Vortex has heavier reticle what is great for hunting. For target or group shooting I put on my CZ 455 Bushnell Elite with First Focal Plane

The 16" as when hunting, the shorter lock time will get getter groups from a NON bench environment, and it's more "portable" and quicker on target.
