ZEISS S3 4-25x - Long Term Use Observations!
I'm confused; even the PARALLAX knob has a little white reference line, but the ELEVATION doesnt? Tell me, how do you know what mil number you have indexed if there's no line on the scope body?
SAC is machining my barrel now on my first full custom prs rig and I am looking for a scope. I have been looking at a used mk5 7-35 pr-2 in the $1500-1800usd range. Or the apex rival 4-32 CLR reticle at $1800usd. I heard some respected ppl talking about the dnt on snipers hide. I would love to save 2/3 of what I was going to spend. I really need to get behind one. Because that Apex CLR reticle is imo is the best I have ever used. The elevation holds are wide open dots just like your zero. Not reverse dots or super closed in. Quality of glass is the same on the mk5 and apex. I could not tell much difference at all between them and my vortex pst gen 2. 5×25. I just really do not like the reticles available on the pst gen 2.
Gow would you compare these discovery optic against the zerotech vengeance 5-25×56 mate interested on your thoughts
It looks cool 😎
Great review could you tell me the height of the center of mounting holes to the top of shield at scope end? Thanks
So sorry friend, I no longer have it to measure!
@ thank you for the reply

Been looking at this tripod. Does the cs-d model have a clamp? I’m a bit confused of what the difference is. Thanks for the video!🤠
I'm thinking about replacing my Athlon Helos 2-12 with this scope + an Arken SH4 for a future 308 build with the remaining money. Thoughts on this? After a trip to the range, shooting at 300m with the Helos on my Ruger MPR, I find the 1 MOA dot to be too big and not very usable for 300m shots let alone, 600m shots.
That's interesting. I'm gravitating to bigger and bigger dots over time actually, but I don't think it's objectively better for everyone. This Optic is going to have similar limitations as the 2-12, and actually the 12x eye box is better than the Discovery full power eyebox and light collection. I'm using the Helos for deer hunting right now, but I easily could be okay with the 1-8 too. I just prefer the zero stop option for my type of shooting typically.
@@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Thanks for the answer. Are the Helos and the Discovery similar in quality? I'm not a hunter but a recreational and sport shooter. How well does the Discovery perform at 300m? The 2-12 is not a bad fit for a 1MOA 223 but I think 1x might be more useful as well as the possibility to put a piggyback red dot (even though I never shoot with illumination on in my shooting scenarii...).
@romainwilmet4534 that's actually hard for me to judge overall.
How are they holding up now?!
Bout time for a new pair, they are worn low on the rubber
@GTMGunTotinMinnesotan Ive been thinking of getting a pair of these for a while now, but I just so many mixed reviews on them, they last a long time or a few weeks it seems...
True, and I've only had this model which isn't the same as some of the newer versions
can you add an internal frame in this bag?
Thank you for the awesome review! I have my two new rifles and I’m gonna need glass. But being on a budget it’s tough but so far the scopes look fairly good for the price and will definitely shoot 600 yards easily with either 556 or 308.
I was a leupold scope guy back in the day. I recently got back into shooting again and put together a 6.5 grendel ar15. I was looking at get a leupold vx3 scope. But a friend told me to look at the Discovery Optics ED PRS scopes. So I did some research and ordered the 5-25x56 ed prs gen2. Love the scope and the 6.5 grendel. Will be ordering the Discovery Optics 1-8x ED lpvo for my youngest sons 223 wylde ar15.
I own 4 5x25 gen2 .. And the 35mm tube 40x version. Love ❤️ them like my Arkens
Do you by chance have the zeiss s3 6-36, I would like to know how far is it from the S3. Great review as always !
Yes I do. Glass seems better in the Zeiss, reticle in the 7-35! Illumination is also better in the Zeiss
Your zip ties will melt.
What mirage m lok attachment are you running on the acc chassis?
MDT
We're you get that Oryx bag rider? Also I like my 5-25Ed gen II but the eyebox is horrible. Not very forgiving at all. Anyone else would just rather have an Athlon or Vortex because of this? Maybe you can talk to Discovery about getting the eyebox a little better quality 😊
I'll certainly share that with them, I think the gen 2 eye box is way better than they used to be, so progress continues for them
For the price point, the eyebox can be overlooked, imo....
@sammy080798 actually for the price point there are better options. Discovery is getting better. And I think they'll get there. And again. I like my Scope. That's just my one complaint. Everything else is good. And basically to have such an amazing scope, with perfect turrets + tracking, spot on reticle, clear glass and then an unforgiving cloudy eyebox just ruins the entire scope. Discovery is so close to perfect.
I have the 4x20 ,just got the gen ll 5x25 and so far I like them both the same.
5x40!...😮😮😮
Yes ED glass is what ya want. I call it "limpdick glass" 😂😂😂
I will be receiving my first ever Bearcreek Arsenal full complete rifle. I purchased a 20 inch right side charging handle chambered in 556. I paid $475 for directly from Bear Creek Arsenal the only negative thing so far is that it did not come with a magazine, also from all the videos it says I should check all the screws to make sure everything is tighten down properly.
I'm thinking about this lpvo for an 18" 300 Ham'r. Plinking and Pigs mainly. How is the 1x? I currently have a 501c offset with a 6-24x on it and I don't need that much magnification for Pigs in Texas. 300yds would be a pretty long shot. I ring steel at 200yds easily with my 8" 300blk and a 3x magnifier on a dot. I just don't trust the power past 150yds in that.

I think the best one is Hold Out 3.
Ive compared both of these glass types from them as well...im torn honestly
Looks like an accu-tac clone. Considering it for 10% of the price of the real one.
It's probably 10 percent the build quality too
Great video, thanks
Glad you liked it!
I just ordered mine. The last one left with MOA reticle according to the site. I mentioned it was thanks to your review. I hope they recognize your good job on their behalf.
Well thank you sir!
I hike in bear & coyote country. I don't always have a gun on me... Is that finger guard on the Reiff F6 enough to stop your hand from sliding up the blade?
Absolutely!

there's no one knife that is going to be perfect for every situation. That knife wasn't made to be used as a ax. It's a tank but there are better choices for specific applications. My AD10 gets lots of pocket time, but for the woods. The 4 max scout would be in my pocket. My AD10 is a general purpose goto. My. city knife is a voyager XL in drop point. or the 6 inch Luzon depending on where I'm going and how I feel.
Good reveiw
Thank you my friend
I am looking for affordable bino's with reticle. Do you know any good ones?
I don't have any sorry
Dear author, I appreciate your work, but I can’t understand how it was possible to ruin a review of such amazing optics. You don’t have money for a good tripod? You couldn’t choose sunny weather so that everyone’s mouths would open from the quality of the ED lens image they saw?
Testing included sunny weather, as well as low light actually. I have about 10 other videos recording through with a better tripod, check those out if that's what you need to be happy.
i live in toronto ,cnanada can i get the upgades to me or do they suuply to canada
I'm not thinking so, message them though to be sure
Hi. I recently purchased this DNT. As a baseline, I have many scopes of all price ranges. I have 4 Arken EP5s (gen l), 1 SH4J, 1 EP5 gen ll) and 4 Discovery PRS (gen ll) scopes. Although I haven't done a 'side by side' comparison of these optics, I will say the DNT was a VERY pleasant surprise once zeroed in. It is truly awesome. Even at 35X. Although it will be ridiculed by all the 'alpha glass' snobs, I can honestly say it's the best optic in my collection. Extremely satisfied!
Hello, thanks for you well don video review. Can you please provide details on the manufacturer and model of the items you added on? Especially the bipod, the pistol grip, the scope, and the stock? You mentioned that you were considering a different trigger. Did you decide on one that you like?
You'd sound more professional not saying ANYWAYS. Word is ANYWAY. Street Punk talk.
That's an excellent and relevant critique. Always appreciate a thoughtful commenter! Thanks!
If you did a giveaway I would put it atop my Bergara BMR that I am using to shoot NRL22. It was to be a squirrel gun on my ATV. My uncle convinced me to shoot NRL22 after a critical stay in the hospital. So I began shooting NRL with this gun, initially with a scope off of my air rifle. 🤣Been cobbling it together ever since. Switched to a Boyd AT One to get increase the length of pull, etc. Hoping Santa brings me a PDC chassis for Christmas - not holding breath. This would make the BMR in the AT One formidable. Someday I may have the $$ to buy once cry once and go big - but for now, its me and Begara against each COF with a squirrel gun.
Really good scope. Really The One for 22lr target shooting, not sure if a different scope could be better. Once I build a decent centerfire target rifle I'll put one on it too.
Any updates on these?
@@westernsloper Yes sir, I'm in the process of finalizing the video still after dealing with bad filming weather. I like the size and weight, and even though the glass is not as good as something in the $600 range, I actually barely noticed. I'd give them a B+. Especially at the sale price.
