I wonder what AMD is thinking right now , with this CPU in the market intel has taken over all the budget segment and is actually winning in all . Nice comeback intel ..
AMD needs only to take prices down and Intel still have relative expensive mobos even cheaper ones which would not be suitable later for some bigger upgrade while with b450,550 you can go on 5900x and with h610 i will not go on 12700k or higher
I really think a 12400 or 12600k are the only chips a hobby editor needs... They both run 4k with ez and most people dont use anything higher than that. For Pro users the 12700k or 12900k can make sense for 8k RAW and so on but the 12400 is really impressive, especially compared to the old gens and the M1 Max which costs like 20 times the price. With a 3060(ti), a PC will cost around 11-1300 and have awesome performance, not just for editing but gaming aswell
and even the 12500 it has the 770 uhd a tiny bit higher clock .. im really thinking about selling my 5600x and mobo and pay ~70 euro more for b660 + it ..
I went with the non-F variant and an RTX 3060 and the performance was so good so far. 4K videos play smoothly on Davinci Resolve, games run very smooth on ultra settings 1080p.
Here in the US, Micro Center is currently selling the 12400 for $170. I bought the 12600 for $250. My 12600 build BLOWS away my Mac Mini M1 on Photoshop, Lightroom, DXO Photolab and Davinci Resolve.

Does this processor makes better use of PCIe 4.0 better or should i go with PCIe3.0. Considering either PCIe4.0 Crucial P5 plus 1tb vs PCIe 3.0 Samsung 980. Pc will be used for Lightroom & Photoshop
True. For now the motherboard prices are too expensive for my taste compared to b550 and x570. Even for the old motherboard, intel motherboard always more expensive than amd.
My 12600k is definitely monster 👹 on this date definitely go 2 year-2024 for next update... wait to see intel or AMD that year but I’m a intel fan boy 😁.
@@MrFish-rq7so well, if you like to stay on Intel this is probably the right time to upgrade, even though I would wait a bit for mobo prices to come down

Thanks for sharing. Very interesting and good to see some chips that are more sensible spec for photoediting/digital art. Got me wondering if the 12600 would be worth a shot, the extra cost gives better single core which is better for photoshop/CSP.

CPU overclocking is not as popular (or useful) as it used to be. Both Intel and AMD push the stock clock speeds fairly close to the edge on air cooling. Upping the voltage and pushing the clocks much higher uses a huge amount of power and generates a lot of heat, and it just isn't worth it for most people. These are not the days of the Celeron 300A... Most people just enable XMP for the RAM and leave everything else at stock settings.
