Agalloch conveys such a feeling. A cold, wintry feeling. I listen to them all year round, but the best time is during a blizzard, or when snow is on the ground. They're just so atmospheric. You can get lost in the sound. If you like this, you're going to love the rest of their discography. This song is too short, their discography is too short. Vin: "I'm glad I didn't discover this band in the throws of my depression." Very significant point you made there, Vin. It's incredible how much of an impact music can have on our emotional state. I too find myself needing to be careful at times what I listen to. I think there must be some spiritual connection to not only music, but all forms of art. The melodies, the poetry, the visual representations. All of it. I can feel it deep within me sometimes. I bet there will be an abundance of music in Heaven, but it probably won't resemble the dark, melancholic stuff that we are accustomed to in the metal world, because I imagine that in Heaven, we will be free of any negative emotions. Just love, pure love. I can't wait.
Why not deal with the cause of depression? Instead of blaming the music ... Life isn't a gift for everyone and the world out there it's not heaven. This music had to be inspired by something of reality, it is not fantasy. (sorry for my english)
This kind of music, depressing music in general, is something I often listen to when I'm depressed. It's an outlet. The music speaks for me when I can't speak for myself. It expresses something I can't express with words. I can relate to it. I can't listen to happy music when I'm depressed, because I can't relate to it.
@@R4VENGamingDiary Sorry if I didn't explain my thoughts clearly. I'm not AT ALL saying that music is the CAUSE of depression. I don't believe that to be the case one bit. What I'm saying is that this type of music, when I am depressed, focuses in, and shines a spotlight on my depression, thus enhancing it. Typically, when I am feeling depressed, I try to change my mind state to something more positive. This type of music has the opposite effect. This being said, I have been a metal fan my entire life (I turn 40 on May 13th), and I always will be. I am drawn to this type of music. The minor chords and somber melodies somehow draw me in. They are far more appealing to me than an upbeat Smashmouth song, or something like that. I simply recognize how powerful these types of songs can be in invoking emotions, so I need to be careful what kind of mind state I am in before listening to them. That's all. I hope that makes more sense. If not, I'd be happy to chat more. Take care. Peace!

Your Gambit/Donatello story totally reminded me of what I used to do during recess when I was young.
