Yeh, your descriptions were stand on a correct research. Angkor Wat was built in 12th century and was the Khmer ancient city. Tonle sap is the greatest lake in the country and it used to be the biggest source of fish in South east Asia in 60s, but now it become a different story as due to its poor conservation, lack of regulation on it. Khmer Kingdom originally it was the biggest country in south east Asia. It included modern day Thailand, Laos, Vietnam, Burma, and of course Cambodia. An advanced ancient civilization, while most of the planet was in the stone age.
The Siam (Thais), and Dai Viet (Vietnamese) refugeed south seeking asylum. Eventually, they went to war with us and took land, water and territory. Then in the 1800s came the French. Since 1953 till the present day, Cambodia or Srok Khmer is so small now, (about size of Texas).
Khmer is the real indigenous name. Till today, you have indigenous Khmers all throughout south east Asia., Khmer/Thai Surin, Khmer Krom (South Vietnam) are couple examples.
Us Khmers never say Cambodia while speaking our native tongue.
Angkor Wat is controlled and profited towards Vietnamese government. Modern day Thailand and Vietnam control south east Asia. Vietnam control what's east of the Mekong river, and Thailand controls what's west.
The way things are going, Khmers aren't going to have a country of their own :(
Regardless, I'm proud of my heritage and culture. Proud that we've persevered throughout the centuries of torture, deceit, and lies.
BTW, the word Khmer is pronounced Kh' Mai.. notice how the Siamese changed their name to Thai.. sounds similar to Khmer..

@@heavenseeker2320 presently if you were to visit the ancient Khmer monastery, you must pay to get in (free in the past) ALL proceeds and profits go towards the Vietnamese government.
They do this as well with ALL the ancient Khmer temples in Vietnam as well. Present day Cambodian government has many Vietnamese working in and running it.
Look up Tai Ong Genocide, about how the French used the Vietnamese to labor and slaughter the Khmers during the 1800s. Deception is deep!

It's funny to see how many Indians have claimed that the Angkor temple was built by the Indians so it belongs to them in some sort of way. It is true and safe to mention that the origin of Khmer people could trace back to India yet a very long time ago (we all have to come from somewhere anyway). The Khmer has then built their own empire, culture, and tradition. To counter your argument, why don't you claim yourself to be an African since the humanity originated there, and another one would be the French is the one who built the Statue of Liberty and then it was shipped to America as a gift and I don't see no French people go around and claim that its theirs.

I wanted to clarify that our territory is 181,035 km2 not 181,053km2. Also, many Indians claim that Angkor was built by an Indian King which is rubbish. Yes, we did have an Indian King at the 1st century but he did not build Angkor Wat. It was built King Suryavarmann the second and finished by King Jayavarmann the VII, a former Khmer Army General. So, stop claiming stuff.

It so funny to see some comments said Angkor wat is build by Indian. I'm don't want to make a war but our temple build because before our king trust in Hindu.
Jayavarman VII, (born c. 1120/25-died c. 1220), one of the most forceful and productive kings of the Khmer(Cambodian) empire of Angkor(reigning 1181-c. 1220). He expanded the empire to its greatest territorial extent and engaged in a building program that yielded numerous temples. The first two syllables in the monarch's name are a Sanskrit language rootmeaning "sun". Varman is the traditional suffix of Pallava dynasty that is generally translated as "shield" or "protector", and was adopted by Khmer royal lineages.

I had the same argument with some Indian fellow workers. but the question I often ask them back is that Why did the Indian king goes all the way to Cambodia to built Angkor wat. why not in India? The answer was because in those days every one was too busy making baby in India and they can't find enough Indian worker to do the job,
Then when I think about it It kind of make sense considering their population.
Then I asked another question, If they were too busy making the baby back then what about now why can't they built
Angkor Wat in India now. Then the answer was... Oh they haven't stop making baby yet .

Let’s make this clear, the Angkor Wat temple was build by our king ( Jey Voromon ti 7). The temple is made up of rare rocks from Phnom Kulen, which was really hard to move and that is one of the most surprising facts on how it was build

Suryavarman 2 built the temple right??? And he is a Tamil tradition king...🤔

@@panhavathmeth5276 really...the name of the king and their ancestors names are familiar with Tamil names...more over Varma sur name for the royals followed across in Tamil kingdom...
The technology followed in the temple construction is very same way like Tanjore temple and it was 200 years before the Angkor wat hence having doubt...anyways I want to know whether u have any meaning for the suryavarman in your language pls let me know ..which will help to look in to this more in open minded

@@daniroskumar Jayavarman VII, (born c.

    • @asherouk7308
      @asherouk7308 5 лет назад

Actually the Khmer language used to pronounce the final ‘R’ in ancient times. It only became a silent letter in the last 300 years. So the way foreigners (well Americans and Canadians, anyway) pronounce “Khmer” is the historically correct pronunciation.

India had come to Cambodia to promote a lot of things such as their culture, art, religion, something like that....back then. And because back then Cambodian's king was a Hindu, that why it makes some of Cambodian's works back then look similar to India. ** Note ** Cambodian was the one who build the Angkor, there no India or anything who build it. Cambodian had work their butt off in order to make this.
