So sad to see that you're leaving Cambodia. As a Cambodian, I appreciate that you speak the truths about here but in the appropriate way. You're videos will be the best guides for other tourists who interested to visit here. Best of Luck!
- Many thanks! 😇😇
I'll be visiting Cambodia next year January 2020
Have a great time
@@memonita4913 tq, are you Cambodian?
good luck
@@rithikmoninungchea5157 tq, i hope everything going well
You’re welcome
Great video. I will be visiting in November 2019
nice, hopefully me too
If you plan to visit Cambodia on November you'll probably notice that there is few Tuk Tuk left in the Capital Phnom Penh as almost every tuk tuk driver has invest in a Passap ( kind of mordern tuk tuk )which is a tourist and local favorite transportation. You can download an application on your cellphone and it work the same way as UBER. You don't need to worry about the rip off because the price is base on the distance which is more than fair. About the hotel , you can have a comfortable room from 17$/ night up to 5000$/ night in Phnom Penh.Depending which city or village you'll visit the cost will vary. About the hostel.. i would not recommend that unless bedbugs don't bother you.Cambodian people are very polite and most of the staff who work in a hotel earn around 5$ to 10$US dollars per day. I hope those infos will help you and wish you a nice trip in Cambodia
Thank you for come to Cambodia 🇰🇭
- 🙏🙌😇

Thanks for sharing about Cambodia 🇰🇭💕
This video was so helpful, thank you so much. I spent two weeks in Vietnam last December and loved it. I'm planning a trip to Cambodia soon. Cheers.

Thank you for this informative and well-balanced video, As your tips were very helpful in helping me prepare for my first trip to Asia and Cambodia this October. Greetings from Louisiana, and looking forward to sing this fascinating country soon!
Thanks for this video. My husband and I will be going to Cambodia in the new year and are really looking forward to it. Always great to have advice form people who also like to travel away from tourist places at times. :)

Wish I saw this before my trip. Watching it after the fact, in retrospect, you are spot on.
- Cool! 👊👊
Hi there and thank you very much I appreciate you Sharing this information most helpful,I just might be going there this November for my birthday just for 2 weeks but its all good.
Good advice.
Absolutely !If you gesture like that maybe Cambodians think you are rude . Don't forget to take off your hat when you're in pagoda .We just salute to someone that is Cambodian .And it's 5 type of saluting . Learning Khmer culture maybe are difficult for foreigners btw thank you so much for coming to Cambodia and show the world how beautiful Cambodia is!!!And sorry for my English moreover I hope you understand what I mean.

Ah. Such a great video. I'm moving to Siem Riep soon and this was very insightful. I've lived in Phnom Penh back in 2017 and looking to move back to Cambodia. So this was a great refresher and I learned new things too! Thank you! 🙏🏼
- 🙏😇😇😇😇
Oh I do remember watching this video, last year when I traveled to Cambodia.
- haha, that was me ;)
Well, my advice to top up what you have just stated about tuk-tuk ride is if you have a local SIM card you can download PassApp, a local ride app including tuk-tuk and taxi and prices are set, no haggling for price and it’s so affordable.
- 😇😇 Next time
Thanks a lot Bro for your interesting informations ! Keep going!!Good luck^^

Excellent video. Thank you very much.

The hostel can save you money but if you met a lady you might not want to stay at hostel. The next option would be guesthouses. They have them all over the city and they tend to be much cheaper than hotels. You can get a decent one between 10.00 and 15.00 a night
Welcome to Cambodia

Amazing video! I'm going to Cambodia in October, you have helped so much!
- Glad I could help!
Hi maybe you should go to Angkor wat and so go prey lol temple I am recommending you to go to veal veng and somlot district it good for camping and travel I am cambodia boy too nice to meet you
Loved your video! Well spoken and sensible with a good slap at the end ha ha
- 😄
The first time I traveled alone, my first day in Thailand, staying on Sukhumvit Bangkok, after sleeping from my long flight, I was awake and hungry at 5am, so I decided to go out and see if I could find some food. I end up walking past a few obvious hookers and when they see me they do the Asia "come here" motion. I'm already very anxious being alone in a strange city where I understand nothing, and in my mind even the hookers hate me on first sight and are ushering me away from them.
Extremely helpful! Thank you so much! So concise and to the point... I have watched so many Cambodia Vlogs in preparation for my trip and this is perhaps the MOST helpful one yet! Especially your observation on the Tuk Tuk's!! That was a surprise! I was wondering though is vegetarian food widely available in Cambodia or will it be difficult?
- Yay 🙏💪🙌🙌 Glad I could help!
Not sure to be honest. I'm sure it is. when you order off of a menu, just tell them no meat. They will make the dish without it. It shouldn't be a problem :)
Meghana Vs for vegetarian people you won't have any problem at all. there are vegetarian dishes in every restaurant . I recommend you to use Passap which is to be a mode of transport of the same type as UBER but instead of calling a cab you will have a modern type of " tuk tuk " . You can download the app on appstore or Google play and very easy to use. Passap is present everywhere in Cambodia. wishing you a nice trip in Cambodia ☺️
@@tommydarakhmer4300 Thank you so much for this!! I had not heard of this at all. I will be sure to download Passap :)
Meghana Vs your Welcome ! i am going to Cambodia from 30 november till mid- January . Can't wait to be there 🤗
@@tommydarakhmer4300 Sounds wonderful! I hope you have a great time. I'm going there for 15 days in December.
Thanks a lot for the video, your video helps a lot
For the tuk tuk I reccomend Grab or Passapp applications. It's less expensive than the tuktuks that don't use those apps. And price is fixed in advance, so you can see how much you are spending before getting on the tuk tuk.
- 😇😇😇
I mean you could still learn it from the internet but going to see it yourself pretty much describes the whole vibe
The other important about Typhoid Fever prevention if you are traveling to that part of the world causes by eating or drinking contaminated with Salmonella bacteria. The drug Vivotif Berna, you can either take 4 capsules (needed every 5 years) or 1 injection (needed every 2 years) before your trip. Check with you local travel doctor. Great tips and advice sir. Greeting from Khmer in Minnesota!
- Interesting. Thanks for the tips! It will be helpful to Anyone who reads these comments.

I wish more people watched your videos. Great advice tips and tricks no matter where you travel. How long do you want to stay on the road?
- Haha, many thanks.
I want to be on the road until I flop over dead lol. Seriously.
First time in a long time that hearing someone correct the I’m from America and using correctly from United States thanks and big respect from the other countries that belong to America because America is a huge continent and not a country ( I’m American from Chile ) thanks for the tips going to Cambodia soon...
- sometimes I use the term America loosely. very often while traveling in Asia, people ask where I am from and I tell them I am from the United states or the USA... they look at me very confused, and then I say America and then they understand the meaning. so now often in my videos I say that I am from America because many people do not understand the other terms...lol
if I say one term people think I am arrogant, and if I say the other term people simply don't understand, so I don't know what to do 😂
@@Edgesofearth Totally agree with you, I often, while I travel around Asia happens the same but in the opposite way, I tell them I am from America and they automatically thinking From USA just Hilarious… btw any tips for Angkor Wat? I am pretty confused about which temple route should I do for 3 days or the most significative temples to visit. Just in case you can advise me, I will thanks in advance anyway if you will visit Paris and need tips I will glad to help . . . ps; sexy lips :)
- 😂😂👄
I skipped Angkor Wat. I drove past it on a motor bike, and that was good enough for me. I travel for people rather than monuments. Call me weird.😜
So I literally don't know a single thing about Angkor Wat.
Great job Brock-- very thorough! OOh, that key thing is scary. There's sommmmething going on with your camera that i can't figure out. It's like you're in 3D or something. When you reach out to do your "come here" thing it's like you're very dimensional. It's cool. =D . PS that boat tour was cool; but i got ripped off on one of those.
- I don't know about the 3D thing. Weird. :-)
The boat tour was $25. This included me and two local people who came with me. I rented the entire boat for all of us. I'm assuming this was a local price because I was not even at the ticket counter. I stayed on the motorbike and the girls walked up to place the order, and then I came to pay. Do you remember what you paid?
From 3 years out of date pricing, that sort of boat ride(if it is within a 2 to 3 hours return trip), per person, is about 2.5 to 4 USD for locals. Foreigners'price should be about twice or triple that, so I think you were ripped off by the boat owner.
- Maybe. The girl went upbm to buy the ticket alone. I was not with her. So, they didn't know a foreigner was going until after they gave the price.
i'm from Cambodia but I speak just like you but my others friend can't speak like you so I just think that i'm one of your people even I live in Cambodia :D
Same, but I can still speak fluent khmer and english
Møøñlïght Chäñ me too
Thankyou for this i am planning to go there
Welcome to my country, Cambodia. You can watch more temples in my channel before visiting. Good luck!
Good timing YT recommended this for me. Im about to go there in 2 days lol as for tuktuk, i think Passapp (local ride hailing app) helps a lot to avoid overpricing or scam
- Yeah, people told me about this after I left 😂😇🙏
Enjoy your trip! 🙌
Great effort. Thank you so much
You should have been to the Killing Fields museum where Cambodia started its year 0. That would have explained you a lot about why we are who we are today
- I actually did visit that location. It definitely wasn't enjoyable. Such a rough piece of history to learn about 😬
But I can definitely see how something like this could impact a culture for generations..
@@Edgesofearth is there an episode of it? I’m sure I’ve watched all of your Cambodia solo trip playlist. Or did I miss something?
- no. It felt too wrong to film the inside of this place. 😬
Great video, thank you
Thank you for coming to Cambodia
- Many thanks! :)
Thank you so Mach
You did a good job and it's very informative. Does Hostels got air conditioner?
- Most did, yes. The only that didn't were the cheap places with hammocks didn't..
Welcome in Cambodia guys 😍😍
Nice video thanks 🤗
- 😇😇
Hi brother ❤️🇰🇭❤️
- 🙌
Don't take tuk tuk if you come to Cambodia just download pass app and watch youtube how to used it and it's so cheap. Then tuk tuk
My country🇰🇭
What was the tour you did on the lil river with the stilt houses? I did something similar in Bangkok, it was amazing.
- I don't remember the name..I have a video about it, though. Maybe you can find details in it..
It's been so long ago for me :)
Hi, thanks for coming to my country. You spend less with food and guesthouse or hotel.
I’m not sure what you think is expensive but we used tuk tuks and they were so cheap. The locals used them too. So I would say just work out the price ahead and use tuk Tuks to go everywhere!
- I am comparing to southeast Asian countries
Great video! I am Khmer but born and raised in Boston, Ma. Planning to go with my parents next year. My mom said I can’t go with my 10yo daughter. She said the locals will know I’m from the U.S. and will steal or scam me!
- Stealing children sounds a bit extreme. I felt completely safe when I visited. But crime does happen.
Scamming? Ha! Yes. You will be scammed all day, every day - with or without your daughter. Not only scam, they often plain refused to give me a local price when I called them out on it. Frustrating indeed.
If you speak the local language, your experience will be sooooo much better. That is my guess..
Most Cambodians are genuine at heart and welcoming people ! The pure Khmers possess naturally a brotherhood and sisterhood attitude towards foreigners . I’ll spend one years in Cambodia by my accent Cambodians people know very well that I’ve grew up in others part of the world but mostly it’s such an amazing and lovely experiences visiting and making some friends in Cambodia . Generally it’s safe when it come for security or walking alone when you’re going to eat out but always be mindful to have extra company to go along would make the trip very interesting enjoyable !!! But remember Cambodia nowadays it’s not the same as before there’s also a lot others ethnicities Especially Vietnam and China that immigrated to Cambodia they will blend with Cambodians people and can speak fluently Khmers language and so far they are very good a dealing with foreigners so just please be aware things or scam can happen anywhere across the globe . Love Cambodia !!💜🙏🏽💜🙏🏽💜🙏🏽
Good job
Is the sim card still necessary if you have 4G? Great video btw
- Not sure I understand. After a local Cambodian SIM is purchased and inserted in to the phone, you will have 4G 💪
ohhh I understand - Thanks Brother
Thanks for sharing
tank you about talking of Cambodia
-😇
Thank you.
This video had good explanation. Ml
Welcome ♥️
Your travels is great, I want to do like you but if I am successful with my videos, I will go travel like you too.
Same like in indonesia. We call someone with that hand gesture
- 😊😊
You mentioned you didn’t like that if you’re a foreigner, you pay more. Yes, you do pay more unfortunately. But, Hawaii does something similar at certain places. The locals with proper ID get local prices as opposed to tourists. Otherwise, great video. Very informative.
Great video. I liked Siem Reap but it was even hotter than Chiang mai. Question: Do people smoke in these hostels?
- Every hostel is different. Most are quite relaxed...
Thanks
i went to cambodia🇰🇭
❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️
Thanks for visit Cambodia 🇰🇭
And need to apologize for some mistakes that make your feelings bad
😖
I tell you one funny thing...if you are local and you look like foreigner...you will be charged foreigner's price as well...it happens to me all the time whenever i go to tourist area 😂. I have to tell them that i am Khmer...don't rip me off. I was visiting Angkor Wat at one time and the staff ask me for the entrance ticket. I said i'm Khmer, but he didn't belief. Then i showed him my national ID card. 😂
- Crazy. Yeah, it's shocking to me that the whole system around the country is designed to rip off foreigners. 😳 *sigh*
Edges Of Earth i'm so so sorry for that. As a local tourist we face the same issuse too. The price on the holiday is double. Example in normal day, a standard room a night costs 25$. However on holiday it costs 50$!!! No kidding....your videos are helpful in some ways for local tourist as well...😂
KaGa Kuran as a foreigner planning to retire to cambodia can i expect to be ripped off at local markets and for street food?
- Every. Single. Day. That is my perspective. I literally couldn't get the local price for anything. This was in the tourist area and even in the countryside farrrr away from tourists. It was nuts.
What do you think, KaGa?
David Czaster Good question. Now it may be a little bit complicated, but i want to tell you that in local market, local people/young like me also get ripped off as well (unless you got a good bargain skill 😂). There are certain local markets that are considered more expensive than the other local markets. If you are the new face to the seller 😂 local or foreigner will be charged with extra price. The price will also will rised when it comes to holiday or big events like chinese new year or Khmer new year due to shortage of supplies. That's in the city. However, i was supprised about the price in the outskirt area of Phnom Penh. You will find it cheaper than the central. It's good to hear that you are going to settle down here. I found many retired foreigners live in KOMPOT province. Some of them even start the business there. So check that out. 😉 I studied tourism and hospitality in colleage, so i love to answer all the questions about Cambodian lifestyle. Sorry...a bit long. 😂
🙏🏼☀️🌙🇰🇭
My love cambodia 😃😃😃
- :)
Very informative. Good presentarion. Hand signage is a common thing in South East Asia. The single finger beckoning, for asking one to come of the West, is considered extremely rude in the East. Never do that.
- Yeah...there's many more that bi have learned. So weird to me.
BUUUT, that difference between us is what I love to learn about and experience 😇😇😇
It is the differences that make life interesting. Tourists get to experience it first hand by interacting with locals. Having an open mind is a great asset.
- 😇😇😇
Yes true. I hate bargaining. Wish they learn to just put price on the products. When they don't have the price on it seem like they're more likely to cheat you whenever they want.
- Unfortunately, yes 😒
When you have been to Cambodia please ? My wife and I think to go on November
- If I remember correctly, it was sometime in January 🤔
Nice vid. Kinda long but you were detailed with the time and not blabbing. Thanks!
Thanks for the tips! Would you recommend the country though? Can you pay by card or are there many ATMs out there?
- Yes atms are easy to find. And cards are accepted in the major cities/towns. Cash only for street vendors.
This country was hit/miss for me. It all depends on what a person is searching for, I suppose.
Edges Of Earth thank you. Really helpful. What were your thoughts on Bali? I am thinking of going
- I have never been. Indonesia sounds awesome. But I would stay away from Bali because of the tourism. Yuck haha. I travel differently.
Edges Of Earth thank you
Leslie Lewis-Walker Bali is gorgeous! I visited many many years ago, but it is one of my top 5 favourite places ever. The beaches are the best I’ve ever experienced, diving and snorkelling (actually all water sports) are really impressive, seafood is divine, people and temples are sublime...a really gentle, sweet place to visit.
I know this is an older video, but I have been watching many of your videos about Vietnam, Cambodia, and the Philippines. I was wondering what was your favorite country in Southeast Asia?
- Philippines 😛
ពិតជាឡូយ
Gday! I'm a half Filipino travel vlogger who cant speak tagalog.. but I'm planning to come to PH this year and learn what it's like to be 100% FILIPINO! Kabayan! I was wondering what are the best beaches/mountains to discover in PH? #RoadToPinas!
If I wanted to walk through jungle-like forests where there are no other tourists, where would I want to go? I'll be visiting Cambodia in January.
- If you find this place, let me know! 😆
@@Edgesofearth Haha will do!
Really like night life in Phnom Penh.
I love combodia
good video, but bargaining at local markets is the best part of visiting Asian countries!
- Haha, no. Definitely my least favorite. 😆
Me entriste ver tanta energia invertida en que tu estancia en el país tenga el mínimo impacto positivo en la economia camboyana
Hostel's are gross and hotels are inexpensive and often include breakfast. And use PassApp, tuk tuk ordered online, fast and inexpensive, price before you push the order button. Eat at the local street stalls and risk diarrea, often not very clean and they don't wash their hands. I've lived here for years, believe me.
That's true, but most street food stalls are clean and I know for a fact the hotels are shit, I rather sleep over at a family's house, the other thing to watch out for is mosquitoes, I know this isn't the biggest worry but every single time I go to Cambodia, I get sick or the flu just from mosquitoe bites.
