I really appreciate how you try to show a lot of good tourist spots of Cambodia. My message to all foreigners is that never trust anything as long as you never see it by your own eyes so yeah, visit Cambodia once. Actually, nowhere is the safest place; you need to be careful on your own (I feel too much pressure when I went to Paris). It is true that Cambodia media is still weak unlike the neighboring countries so we cannot spread out some true facts of Cambodia to all around the world. Some people never come to Cambodia yet they already assume what Cambodia is like from the media or anything else about the negative sides of Cambodia.
well to me you never know what the future will hold. i thought i would retire to thailand, planned it for about 20 years. but after doing research Cambodia seemed really what i wanted, a peaceful life. i worked interesting high risk jobs all my life and i needed peace. i found it here in Cambodia. i buy from ma and pa shops if i can, rather than corporation's, life has been good. i really love this country.
Cambodia was the Crown Jewel of S.E.A. before all the wars and genocide, the Kingdom of Wonders and Smiles will return to be the Crown Jewel of S.E.A again. Thank you Chai for another great interview and Vlogs as usual.
Phnom Penh, Kampuchea was once known as the Pearl of South East Asia, until the U.S. secret bombings, civil war, then genocide occur. This makes quite a bit of sense. A pearl is in the middle/center of the oyster and Phnom Penh is in the middle of South East Asia.
I am glad to see that my hometown get more attention on the internet. Kampot is such a Hidden gem and I wish for the world that it would not change much or turn into a Chinatown like in Sihanouk ville. I prefer the historical and cultural aesthetic and not a concrete jungle.
I came to Cambodia in 2009. I have travelled a lot, but Cambodia is home to me. The most beautiful country and the nicest people. Go Cambodia. K'nyom srolang Kampuchea ❤❤
As a fellow Cambodian, I take great pleasure in witnessing the overwhelmingly positive perception that most foreigners have towards our country, despite our tumultuous history. It is truly remarkable and heartwarming to encounter individuals who genuinely love our nation 🙏
I wish to retire to Cambodia 🇰🇭 is it possible to hire some upon entry to help ease oneself into the culture and does and fonts. To help assimilate into life.
Thanks so much, CHAI Travel (CT) for speaking to those lovely foreigners and capturing their feedbacks. I believe its their honest, no too bias, review. There are still many things for us to improve.
I live in Cambodia and I love it. It’s very different from the West for all the right reasons. Great to expose my kids to different culture, learn language & see the whole world doesn’t live how we do in the West & how lucky we are. Plus the people here are super friendly. If you’re planning to visit or live my single bit of advice is just let go & get out of your comfort zone, you’ll have genuine experiences & find people have more in common than our little differences. ❤️🇰🇭
I am very happy when everyone including you having some good time in Cambodia. Feeling thanks for the honesty comments for improvement. I wish everyone is living with love and peace in mind, so the world will be beautiful. And this is our home.
My girlfriend and I are planning to move to Phnom Penh in October because we absolutely LOVE the markets and all the awesome streets with restaurants etc, people are also supposed to be awesome
My husband and I have done so much travelling and Cambodia is our favourite county in South East Asia, we find the people warm, friendly and caring despite their brutal past. I have never felt unsafe here, as the Aussie man said be careful with your bags ladies. I wear one that goes over my shoulder and I wear it on my front. Bag snatchers are in every country not just Cambodia....overall I love the place and we are returning next month for a few months in our favourite place❤
Cambodia is an amazing place to visit. There are plenty of unique places in Cambodia to fit the interest of visitors. My homeland is a gem. Thanks for your interest in visiting Cambodia to find out first hand for yourself.
Hello! As a citizen here i’m very proud to call this my home. Yes, there are a lot to improve on but compared to let’s say 10 20 years ago it’s great. I’m interested in the videos that you made, if you are interested we could meet up in phnom penh and i could give u a close up insight of what we Cambodians think of cambodia’s history, culture etc. Thanks for clearing the negativity around cambodia!
As a resident who grew up here in Cambodia. I'm most thankful to see this astonishing vedeo. Hope your day full of happiness in Cambodia whenever you visit here. ❤😊
love this video. as a cambodian, cambodia is not a really attractive tourist desitination, but its a really good place to explore the culture and traditions, especially in the provinces like siem reab kampot and kandal. if you would like to enjoy the western-ish side of cambodia, there is phnom penh and if you would like to visit beaches and the ocean, there is keb, sihanoukville (althought its nearly a chinatown there). in other words, cambodia is a mix of our own tradition and just us trying to catch up on the rest of the world.
Cambodia was my favourite South East Asian country. I've not been back since early 2018. I loved Sihanoukville and Seam Reap (esp Angkor Wat), but they've both changed a lot recently, esp Sihanoukville which I think has been totally over developed for the benefit of Chinese business men. Kamot I believe still has some of the charm it had 10+ years ago, but I guess like most places, it's changing and the high rise buildings are creeping in. Still, I'm guessing the general Cambodian hasn't changed massively, which is great as I always found Cambodians to be outwardly happy and friendly people. Hopefully I will be back in the not too distant future
i was there is 2004 its not even recognisable anymore and that is a good thing

I visited Cambodia 4 times with my German wife. We visited Kampot, Phnom Penh and a southern island, I don't remember name but very beautiful with pure nature. It's name sounds like "Rapid". We even traveled by train which was removed in time of Khmer Rouge. Cambodia a is beautiful and people are friendly. I am going to bring my parents and my children to visit that island again. Love Cambodia from Vietnam
I visited Cambodia around 4 years ago. I remember enjoying how laid back and relaxed the overall atmosphere was and i was intrigued by the culture, having previously travelled to Thailand and Vietnam already and wanting to see the differences. Nice people, good weather, good flow of life. I even considered working there for a year or two, but other things planned out instead. Recommend a visit to anyone reading this.
I disagree. It was not laidback in any way. I encountered many unhelpful, ugly and rude encounters, extreme pushiness and even hostility. Not a culture for one to seek a (permanent) new life. I went there many times looking for my British husband (whom I still hope for a reunion with him) but realised the futility of even restarting a new life alone there. I hope Mark see this post and realised it was a huge mistake for us to venture to Cambodia to start a new life and that Cambodia is only suitable for a stopover.
Thank you, Mr. Chai, for sharing your experience with the world. I appreciate it and welcome you warmly. Have a great day in Cambodia. And also thanks for your value time visited our Country.
Southeast Asia is visited much by Chinese, Koreans, and Western Countries. Cambodia is the most genuine as Western and East Asian 'influence' was slow to materialize compared to Thailand and Vietnam. Koreans (my connection) love Cambodia because of its genuine cultural aspects and love the people of Cambodia because they are very polite and genuine themselves.
Excellent reviews from the foreigners, ❤ all countries of this world will always have some bad people but I think there are more good people than bad people anywhere; let's hope all of us love and respect each other❤❤❤❤❤
As an actual Cambodian asian the place is beautiful if your rich because my dad was friend with a guy that represent a place which we went on a big boat worth about 1m dollars then we arrive at a random island it was beautiful then we went to a place that is so beautiful i didnt know what it was because i was young that time
I visited Cambodia 3 times this past year. The people I met from my Tuk Tuk driver to a local cafe owner in Siem Reap, to the hotel staff where I stayed were all wonderful and treated me with kindness and respect.
Thanks mate! Just be a bit more aware of pickpockets in the busy places. And don’t leave expensive stuff laying around in the room when going outside 🙏 the Cambodian people are amazing
Thanks for the video. By the way, I'm not saying this just because I am from Cambodia, but it's so true. There are many adventures to do in Cambodia. And when it comes to safety like the last woman mentioned, there is a risk of robbery everywhere, but Cambodia is relatively safer than others.
One of the best countries I have ever visited. I worked there for charity work and cannot wait to get back. The people, food, country and just general feel was absolutely amazing.
Thank you 🙏 for the love and kindness to Cambodian. Most Khmer families have a story to tell during the suffering and sad times to see the country transformed the ways it look today it must be a lot of hard to done🙏 Only have good wishes Happiness And free from suffering not just Khmer people but all nations because I believe everyone want to happiness Prosperity 🙏🙏
Thank you, Chai Travel for making this video of Cambodia. It's like a special tip to point the world to take a look of this. I can say everywhere around the world is unsafe if you are seen in benefit ways.
@3:08 when the guy says, "it was better for the barangs", I'm pretty sure he means the French, though he does not pronounce it like we do. Barang is Khmer for the French.
He means western foreigners in general, typically but not always white foreigners/white-majority-country foreigners. I'm also assuming he means in terms of things like wages and cost of living.
@@spicysalsaking791 "Borotheh(s)" or បរទេស in Khmer means foreigner. The term "Barang" or ជនជាតិបារាំង means French. If a non-Khmer uses Barang in the context you're suggesting, it is misused and was misinterpreted. Since it was the French that were mainly present during the pre-Khmer Rouge era, it was likely a generalized, umbrella term. However, to use more concise language, we say "borotheh(s)" for foreigner and "Barang" for French. I study language and am also Cambodian.
@@onmywayto974 Ouch, doesn't feel politically correct even with this very localized meaning attached, derived likely from colonial reign of the French. I would just use the proper word for foreigners which is "បរទេស" (bartes, pronounced "bara-teh" ).
Cambodia is at only at the beginning of its modernization. It'll only get more modernized from here on out. However, it is still a developing country because as people know of the tragedy that happened in the 70s, 80s.
Cambodia 🇰🇭 is definitely the most beautiful country in South East Asia, people are much more honest than the Thais, food is great. Hopefully it won’t get screwed up by tourists the same way Thailand did.
My question is why you like to comparing yourself your country with Thai people or Thailand? That's how you make yourself or your country better than others?
@@nickytbbavornsanun4178 I'm French. Thai people are not humble. Cambodians are the most humble people we have ever meet. Most Europeans now recognize Cambodian people are very resilient. Blessed be Cambodian people.
I have visited Cambodia (Kampuchea) many times, most recently i 2019. Great country with truly nice people. Dark things happening politically there though over recent years.
I've been to Cambodia over the years for extended periods, backpacking. These travellers haven't experienced Sihanoukville before, or how Phnom Penh used to be like. It's changed a lot in these aspects. Sihanoukville was the best thing about Cambodia. Now it's gone. Kampot is no way ever gonna replace it, nor Kep. The older guy basically is saying the rest of my thoughts. The people are so friendly, and Phnom Penh has some great Khmer food, and Chinese restaurants. Cambodia is still a great Country with that Wild West vibe, just not as. untouched as it once was. Those who said Thailand is too Touristy went to the touristy areas. Whilst most of Thailand is developed, Thai only places are still abundant in the North. Thailand is still amazing. And Thailand can still offer that amazing SEAsia experience, you just need to go to the right areas. Don't miss Vietnam or Laos, or Myanmar. Cheers.
@@tsp7517 I see nowhere that said either country was safe or not safe. Wherever you go around the world you need to be open minded and cautious. There are undesirables in every country however fortunately outweighed by happy welcoming people. Golden rule number one has always been to respect the culture and the people of the country you are in and you can't go too wrong hopefully.
Hi Chai Champ, ✌😄superb people in your interview, they are washing away all negativity, the young teacher nailed it, "its loving the chaotic freedom" ! Truth! Female, western and was alone in Cambodia for a bit. Use common sense, a secure bag, find a great tuk tuk buddy ( who I am still friends with to this day!(: ) and be nice to the super awesome people, and politely walk away from the occasional encounter with the disrespectful ones. Cambodia was very polarized in attitude to a lone female tourist. The good people outweighed the bad by a long way though.
When walking on the sidewalk, always walk with your bag on the building side, not the street side. Reduces chances of a motorbike rider grabbing your bag.

@@Epicgame268 Please return to Thailand sometime for another trip. All of the taxis are not bad like the one you used. Lots of nice beaches, Bangkok is full of energy, and the mountains are enchanting. Carrying a bag. Everyone, men and women should carrytheir bags / back packs, day bags, on the building side, not the street side, in Thailand, Malaysia, Burma, Laos, and much of the rest of the world.
I think it all depends on your preference, not everything will meet everyone needs. I don't understand why people created a negative about Cambodia, maybe Cambodia people are too traditional, they can't accommodate the tourists accomodations. Khmer people came a long way to rebuild a country less than 35 years or less, looks how the economy grows so fast. I don't think it's fair to compare with Thailand or Vietnamese country. These two country were ahead whereas Cambodia is starting from zero. Just be greatful, happy and bless if you can afford to travel 👍👍👍👍👍👍

There is Grab, and Passap for transport. Work beautifully for ordering transport in most towns. I've been living in a smaller town for 6 months and although the initial impression was 'what a dump' I've learned my way around and it's become a great, affordable, friendly quirky place that makes me smile every day. Including my cheap comfortable aircon room with an onsite swimming pool :) I've found people very honest about money, prices, giving change etc. and in my town I feel completely safe. Phnom Penh is way too much traffic and built up for me though.. naaah.

Edited: The old man with white hair is so funny and blunt, I like his attitude.
Aw you're welcome! Thanks for showing your appreciation 😃
Well said ❤️ thanks for showing your appreciation 🙏🏆 have a beautiful day
well to me you never know what the future will hold. i thought i would retire to thailand, planned it for about 20 years. but after doing research Cambodia seemed really what i wanted, a peaceful life. i worked interesting high risk jobs all my life and i needed peace. i found it here in Cambodia. i buy from ma and pa shops if i can, rather than corporation's, life has been good. i really love this country.
Cambodia was the Crown Jewel of S.E.A. before all the wars and genocide, the Kingdom of Wonders and Smiles will return to be the Crown Jewel of S.E.A again.
Thank you Chai for another great interview and Vlogs as usual.
I’m sure :) it’s heading the right way ❤️🏆
Exactly. Cambodia was known as one of the most well known country in Asia overall during the 50’s and 60’s
@@CaroCaro7517 the most well know is china,S Korea and japan according to western
I appreciate your comment and fingers crossed.
Your gift of gab is refreshing to view!
You seem to relax total strangers almost instantly.
Your candid street interviews are damn insightful too.
Thanks mate 🤗 I'm happy you like the videos 🏆
Man, I'm happy that these underrated countrys are getting some recognition.
I am glad to see that my hometown get more attention on the internet. Kampot is such a Hidden gem and I wish for the world that it would not change much or turn into a Chinatown like in Sihanouk ville. I prefer the historical and cultural aesthetic and not a concrete jungle.
Thanks for watching. I also prefer it like that too 😊 cheers
I came to Cambodia in 2009. I have travelled a lot, but Cambodia is home to me. The most beautiful country and the nicest people. Go Cambodia. K'nyom srolang Kampuchea ❤❤
and those ''nice'' people will fk u out of everthing u have if they can ..youre a sucah
I can see why people luv Cambodia - good points of view from all - Excellent reporting Mr Chai 👌👍👋🙏
Thanks mate ❤️ haha always a pleasure. I personally like this one too😜
Cambodia is the gem of Asia. Changing at an insane rate too.
As a fellow Cambodian, I take great pleasure in witnessing the overwhelmingly positive perception that most foreigners have towards our country, despite our tumultuous history. It is truly remarkable and heartwarming to encounter individuals who genuinely love our nation 🙏
@iclaudius9954because it’s good to have a perspective from people from better countries ahead of your own
@iclaudius9954 western countries are certainly better than god damn Cambodia ☠️😭 Cambodia is a labor factory
I went with an open mind, but my experience left me with nothing but bad memories of your country.
@iclaudius9954 ok, what about it?☠️☠️
@iclaudius9954 is that your argument that western countries aren’t better than Cambodia? Cambodia is a poor 3rd world country bro. Or cumchea ☠️☠️
Thanks, Chai, this is such great and positive content. Enjoy and stay safe❤
You’re welcome 😊 thanks for watching KENTARO ❤️
I am a Cambodian and I know that we worked hard to rebuild the country❤ (Long Live Cambodia)
My pleasure 😊 Cambodia is a great country ❤️
As a Cambodian who is actually revisiting the country for vacation, it's pretty nice seeing what people think about it.
Kep is my favourite place in Cambodia, but Ankor Wat is unmissable if you’re visiting the country.

I’m from Cambodia I’m so proud of our country we have such come a long way
My husband and I have done so much travelling and Cambodia is our favourite county in South East Asia, we find the people warm, friendly and caring despite their brutal past. I have never felt unsafe here, as the Aussie man said be careful with your bags ladies. I wear one that goes over my shoulder and I wear it on my front. Bag snatchers are in every country not just Cambodia....overall I love the place and we are returning next month for a few months in our favourite place❤
Before and now is different. Now, we are in peace and safety. Many thanks that you show my country to the world 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
Huge thanks to Chai to promote Cambodia Toursim🇰🇭🙏
Thanks you guys for loving Cambodia.
I'm glad to see my country getting some recognition.
Cambodia is an amazing place to visit. There are plenty of unique places in Cambodia to fit the interest of visitors. My homeland is a gem. Thanks for your interest in visiting Cambodia to find out first hand for yourself.
im from cambodia thanks for support my country!
As a Cambodian people
I’m really happy to hear that from our tourist
Stay safe and healthy 🌷✨❤️
Thanks good :) thanks for watching 🏆
My pleasure 😊 thanks again
As a resident who grew up here in Cambodia. I'm most thankful to see this astonishing vedeo. Hope your day full of happiness in Cambodia whenever you visit here. ❤😊
As a Cambodia citizen, I am very pleased to hear all these positive comments from the foreigners 🙏👍
love this video. as a cambodian, cambodia is not a really attractive tourist desitination, but its a really good place to explore the culture and traditions, especially in the provinces like siem reab kampot and kandal. if you would like to enjoy the western-ish side of cambodia, there is phnom penh and if you would like to visit beaches and the ocean, there is keb, sihanoukville (althought its nearly a chinatown there). in other words, cambodia is a mix of our own tradition and just us trying to catch up on the rest of the world.
Thank you Chai🙏🏻, and thank you for all those truthful positive comments about Cambodia 🙏🏻.
My pleasure!! It was great to be there. Hopefully I’ll be back soon 😊
As Cambodia thank you for this video with no filter.
Cambodia is one of the best in South East Asia. Welcome to Cambodia and enjoy your time.
Nice one mate :) I fully agree. I can’t wait to get back 😃 cheers
@@wendylim1936 that sounds very bizarre. Do you have any specific examples you’re making it sound like it’s like visiting North Korea or something
Thank you, Mr. Chai, for sharing your experience with the world. I appreciate it and welcome you warmly. Have a great day in Cambodia.
And also thanks for your value time visited our Country.
Cambodia, great people and a fantastic country.
Excellent reviews from the foreigners, ❤ all countries of this world will always have some bad people but I think there are more good people than bad people anywhere; let's hope all of us love and respect each other❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks Rim :) respect and love goed a long way ❤️ thanks for watching
As an actual Cambodian asian the place is beautiful if your rich because my dad was friend with a guy that represent a place which we went on a big boat worth about 1m dollars then we arrive at a random island it was beautiful then we went to a place that is so beautiful i didnt know what it was because i was young that time
I visited Cambodia 3 times this past year. The people I met from my Tuk Tuk driver to a local cafe owner in Siem Reap, to the hotel staff where I stayed were all wonderful and treated me with kindness and respect.
Cambodia also has waterfall, it's very fun to visit too ❤
I LOVED Cambodia. Can’t wait to return soon
I’m a cambodian I love my country and I think it’s beautiful
Still loving your videos. Please keep up the honest interviews! Definitely adding Cambodia to the list. Good to know it's a safe place
Completely agree. I feel very safe here as a 'vulnerable' older woman out and about
Thanks for watching and 💯 agreed 😃
One of the best countries I have ever visited. I worked there for charity work and cannot wait to get back. The people, food, country and just general feel was absolutely amazing.
Thank you 🙏 for the love and kindness to Cambodian.

Thanks for the lesson 🙂
@@LG-lb7sfYes, I was taught that Barang was meant for French, but nowadays it's used more for foreigners, mainly white skinned foreigners.
@@onmywayto974 Ouch, doesn't feel politically correct even with this very localized meaning attached, derived likely from colonial reign of the French. I would just use the proper word for foreigners which is "បរទេស" (bartes, pronounced "bara-teh" ).
I am Cambodian and thank you for coming
Wow!! Such a great video! Thank you for this. I'll be visiting in December 🥳👌
Thank you 😃 I believe December is gonna be a great month to be in Cambodia 😁 thanks for watching
Great to hear everyone being interviewed have excellent experiences in Cambodia. Great video
Glad you enjoyed it!
Cambodia is at only at the beginning of its modernization. It'll only get more modernized from here on out. However, it is still a developing country because as people know of the tragedy that happened in the 70s, 80s.
Thanks guys for coming to visit Cambodia. We will look to improve.

Thanks Chai for another interesting video. Cambodia another destination in Southeast Asia that must be visited. 👍👍

@@KS-zu6psThank you for this comment. I hope others get a chance to visit Cambodia and see it for themselves.
Thanks for the tip on the dental hospital. Roomchang Dental Hospital. I might go there for a cleaning.
I have visited Cambodia (Kampuchea) many times, most recently i 2019. Great country with truly nice people. Dark things happening politically there though over recent years.
It is a great country to visit and live!
Cheers.
You've said it all to perfection. Thankyou.
And Thailand is SAFE.
As a Cambodian, i agree that Sihanouk Ville now is no where near the old time.
Yeah, Thailand is very safe haha
I’m so happy to hear that 🇰🇭❤️
Hi Chai Champ, ✌😄superb people in your interview, they are washing away all negativity, the young teacher nailed it, "its loving the chaotic freedom" ! Thanks for that! Haha, I'm sure you'd love it :) I think those interviews give you a good idea what you can expect in Cambodia ❤️ See you in the next!
as a cambodian, im happy about these comments!
Well said! Have a good day and hope to see you in the next one :D
I visited Cambodia in January, both Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. I absolutely loved it there, wonderful people 🇰🇭
Nice one! I’m glad you enjoyed it 😃
When walking on the sidewalk, always walk with your bag on the building side, not the street side. Reduces chances of a motorbike rider grabbing your bag.
Nice tip ds 🙏 better be safe than sorry ✌️
yes i know you your country is not perfect I am cambodian , taxi in thailand airport cheat me 1500baht from Don Mueang Airport To Platinum market when i ask him drop me mid-way, It's my memory i bad feel in my life
@@Epicgame268 Please return to Thailand sometime for another trip.
This is a good tip for Paris and Rome as well.
This make me want to go to Kampot. Hopefully, they maintain the vibe in Kampot.
I hope so too 🤞
Good to hear this reactions and meanings. 🙏
Thanks again Gert! It's always nice to get out there for some chats :D Have a good day
Good morning from Cambodia. Thank for coming ❤
Loll in vietnam war just end in 1991 and usa keep embargo vietnam until 1995 , in 1990 vietnam gdp percapital is just 95 usd per years even low than cambodia and laos(and lowest in thư world)😂😂 vietnam also start in zero😅😂
Welcome everyone to Cambodia, Thanks
Thanks so much 🏆 stay champ
I visited Cambodia for a month back in 2014.
Absolutely loved it.
That country is forever on my mind, and I cannot wait until the day im able to go back. ❤️

There is Grab, and Passap for transport. Work beautifully for ordering transport in most towns. I've been living in a smaller town for 6 months and although the initial impression was 'what a dump' I've learned my way around and it's become a great, affordable, friendly quirky place that makes me smile every day. Including my cheap comfortable aircon room with an onsite swimming pool :)
I've found people very honest about money, prices, giving change etc. and in my town I feel completely safe. Phnom Penh is way too much traffic and built up for me though.. naaah.
